Bistro My Way in Christchurch

My family and I have a house down in highcliffe and we frequently come down for little weekend breaks. Every single time we come down the first question that’s asked is ‘so what night are we going to bistro?’. And every single time we go it is the best meal we have all ever had. Every time! And we’ve been to some nice restaurants.

Just had a perfect birthday lunch. Superb food, attentive but unobtrusive service. Generous portions ( no veg billed as extra sides). Beautiful sauces and great wine at reasonable restaurant prices. Can't wait to go again!

We travel from Bath to go to this restaurant it’s that good. The whole meal was perfect, from the seafood gratin to the Cheese Soufflé I had for dessert, ( it’s a starter but so good it works as a dessert) The service from Chris and his young helper is the ideal balance of friendly and efficient, terrific and hard to find nowadays. The main course we had were a monkfish tail risotto and a slow cooked belly pork, delicious. (Pictures attached) Charles the chef du patron is very talented. We will be back for sure

Came here with friends to celebrate two Birtgdays and couldn’t have wished for a better evening. The food was spectacular, the Maitre de spot on with his humour and professionalism and it was wonderful knowing we were supporting an independent business. So lucky to have this small French restaurant local to us and would whole heartedly recommend.

Wow, highly recommend this superb bistro. We had the Sunday Roast 3 Course and were all thrilled with the quality of the good and exceptional service we received. It was our first time but there were lots of regulars being greeted so it’s obviously popular.

There are only a few tables, so you have to book and selfishly I want there to be availability for us. The food is superb. We had the Sunday lunch mixed roast and started with French onion soup and pate with alcohol soaked prunes. You can tell this is a French restaurant by the depth of flavour in each ingredient. Sadly we were too full for dessert because those on other tables looked really tempting. Full marks for both the food, and the service by Edgar and Chris. The wine list is very reasonable too. Unfortunately all other restaurant meals, taken during our holiday, paled into insignificance after this wonderful place. We can’t wait to return.

Head and shoulders the best restaurant in the area, amazing choice, superbly cooked, great value for money and fantastic service. The Christmas pudding cheesecake was out of this world….

A wonderful Birthday lunch today. We were a party of twelve including three little ones. The food and wine were excellent and in spite of the awful weather outside the restaurant was cosy and the staff were great. Thank you all

4 of us visited earlier this year. I must have forgotten to do a review. This place is simply brilliant. It is honestly up there with the best meals I have ever had, fab hosts and amazing value too. 5/5 all day long.

Wow! What an absolute delight this restaurant is . The food was fabulous, we had : roasted figs with goats cheese, walnuts and honey, red mullet, slow cooked pork loin, ribeye , lemon polenta cake and roquefort panna cota. Every mouthful was a delight. Excellent customer care from the owner and his very efficient waiter. Wish we lived closer, would be there every week.

Sensational. Nestled in the High Street in Highcliffe, this gem of a French style bistro serves up delicious food. From the cheese soufflé to the fresh mackerel starter and seafood gratin, we segued into amazing Sunday lunch beef, roast duck and pork tenderloin. How we had room for the amazing desserts, including apple and strawberry crumble, I don’t know! The staff were charming. A big thank you to the chef and kitchen team too. Reasonably priced too. Very highly recommended!

A lovely little Bistro in Highcliffe. Food was fresh, delicious and staff were attentive and helpful. Would highly recommend and also that you book in advance. With a set menu and specials board there is plenty of choice and great value. Will definitely return when in the area again. We had, Cheese Soufflé; King Prawns; Fish mixed grill; Ribeye with Chips; chocolate fondant; rhubarb crumble & ice cream.

We had Sunday lunch here. It was amazing. We booked a table for 6, 3 Roasts & 3 other dishes followed by desserts & tea & coffee. Roast lunches had perfectly cooked meats, fantastic vegetables and superb Yorkshire puddings. Gravy you could fight over. Other mains were wonderful. Delicious desserts. Excellent service. I would come here every week if I could.

We visited a couple of years ago after stumbling across Bistro My Way whilst visiting the area. We returned to the area and chose to stay in Highcliffe just to visit again. The food is exceptional, imaginative, beautifully presented and tastes amazing and is incredible value for money. The chocolate fondant was a work of art and absolutely perfection. Just visit, you won’t be disappointed

Small cosy restaurant in the heart of Highcliffe. Wonderful food and the service was first class. I would highly recommend it. You do need to book as it is very popular.

Absolutely super Sunday lunch, faultless service, top quality ingredients and fantastic French cuisine. As good as you will find in Dorset and excellent VFM, we even had to get the waiter to check the bill as it seemed too cheap.

My mum and I were visiting the area for a weekend break. She had visited Bistro My Way twice on the last two years and was keen to visit again. I can see why. It’s a lovely simple French restaurant. We were made very welcome. Lots of specials to choose from. Service was spot. Food was superb. If you’re in the area I highly recommend booking a table. You won’t be disappointed.

This restuarnt although very small was absolutly fantastic . in every single way . the young man who was doing the waiting , Oh My God he was the absolutly the best Ever !! his service was 10 stars ,far far better than the extremely expensive hotel down the road . the food quality was amazing , everything , im very fusy and it was wonderful . i own a small luxury bed and breakfast locally and will be recommending all my future guests to go there . ............

Lovely intimate French restaurant with great service from the owner and really good food! Pork belly and seabass were lovely and the lemon & basil crème brûlée was unique and delicious

We have enjoyed many meals here and they are always excellent. The cheese souffle starter is delicious. My main was lovely with a most beautiful paprika sauce. The chocolate pudding was simply divine.

The food in this lovely little restaurant is simply brilliant: my terrine was incredibly tasty, the slow-cooked pork loin just sublime and my partner’s trout reportedly excellent, as was her brioche sweet. Wonderfully friendly proprietor makes one feel really at home. So wrapped up I forgot to take photos but we will definitely be visiting again, so I’ll update this post then. If you want really excellent food I could not recommend this restaurant more highly. Thanks.

We eat here several times a year and went here again to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We both had 3 delicious courses - the food is always beautifully presented and of the highest quality. It was made extra special this time by them presenting my husband with a birthday plate of scrumptious white chocolate ice cream and a complimentary glass of dessert wine. Looking forward to our next visit .

Sunday Lunch. I really dont want to write this review - because I dont want everyone to know just how good this restaurant is!

This is a small family restaurant that serves excellent french food and wine at a competitive price. We had Sunday lunch last week and returned this evening for an early evening meal. On both occasions delighted with the food and the service,

Small restaurant with great background music. Had a most delicious lunch, beautifully cooked and presented. We will be back but not as frequently as we would like, as it’s 25 miles away. Just wish we had something of such quality and value for money nearer to us.

My wife and I went for a Valentines meal and it was the perfect night. The staff were friendly and helped create a wonderfully warm atmosphere. But, nothing can beat the quality of the food. I had the scallop and pork belly starter. A ribeye steak for mains and a Creme brûlée for dessert. Everything was perfect. The price was less than I expected also. Go try it for yourself.

Just had a Fabulous meal at The Bistro, My Way Highcliffe Dorset! Beautiful Scallops, cooked perfectly and delicious Beef short rib with creamy mash, just amazingly tasty food, superb service and great atmosphere! Would highly recommend!

Well-deserved reputation for incredible food and service. We came with friends for a birthday meal and every course was divine. I’m glad to hear the chef will shortly be opening a French patisserie on the high street! French chef and French maitre’d makes the experience even more authentic. Absolutely delicious food - we have been meaning to try this restaurant for years and now we’ll likely book again next month! Only thing I’d change is the name of the place - sounds way more simple and cafe-like than it is. A proper French title and you’d be falling over yourselves for custom!

The food was fabulous, all freshly cooked and extremely tasty from the starters, main course (all with plenty of choices) The desserts were delicious - staff again were great nothing too much trouble - definitely coming back!

Yet another fabulous meal at Bistro. From the superbly cooked food, to the delicious wines and the perfect service, this remains our favourite restaurant in the area.

Myself and friends ate an evening meal here on the 25th January, the food is amazing equally matching high end restaurants but at very reasonable prices,I will definitely go here again on my next trip over from Ireland , highly recommend !

Have often driven past and wondered what this place would be like. It's small so booking is necessary. The menu has a good selection and there are a few specials too. Food was amazing. Beautiful presentation, delicious dishes. We cleared our plates on all 3 courses. Service was friendly and attentive. The only negative was that our table by the door was a bit draughty on a January night. I will definitely be returning. I'm a bit reluctant to review as this place is so good, I don't want to share it.

What a find this place is. How is it not more well known? Food was incredible and the handsome Christof was ever attentive and so added to the authenticity with that accent. Definitely booking again soon. Would highly recommend this place.

We went for Sunday lunch & some of us chose from the Festive menu. I have to say that I have never tasted roast Turkey so succulent & tasty. We all enjoyed our choices with a lovely bottle of wine. Compliments go to the Chef & to the Front of House for excellent service. This restaurant is a treasure & we will be back! Thank you!

I went for a belated Birthday lunch with a friend who had recommended Bistro my way. We were able to have lunch from the festive menu. The best Christmas lunch I’ve ever tasted! So good that I keep dreaming about the turkey and roast potatoes which were delicious and the sauce was fantastic. Wonderful attention from the French waiter . A touch of France in Highcliffe. Parfait! Will definitely be returning.

Wow! What a treasure. We had heard about Bistro My Way and finally booked lunch. We should have done it ages ago! They are incredibly friendly and welcoming and the food is absolutely delicious. There are two set menus and although we had the £25 for two courses, the £16 for two courses looked very good too. Unfortunately we couldn’t manage pudding as we were too full but they looked gorgeous. They also didn’t mind us bringing our 5 month old grandson too. Can’t wait to go back.

We had the most lovely family meal again at the Bistro as a party of 8. The choice of food was outstanding and we all struggled to decide what to choose. Sharing oysters to begin with, whilst we deliberated whst to choose. The menu is fantastic, we were super impressed by our delicious soufflé, onion soup, skate wing, chateaubriand to name but a few of our choices. Many thanks to Chef patron Charles for our delicious meal and Chris for looking after us so well. We will back again soon.

it was beautiful as always. Really yummy for the tommie and eyes. We love to bring new people there to let them discover. The experience would not be complete without the professionalism , happy, positive approach from the waiters. Thank you it was a great time. The French Martine

Had dinner with some old school mates here. Good atmosphere and good menu, and good rugby-related banter with the staff. Menu offered plenty of variety and was good value.

Booked in for a lunch for 4 people. Very welcoming, attentive service and food fabulous. Restaurant not huge but still felt quite spacious, quite intimate and personal. Definitely returning without question!

We had a fantastic time dining at this restaurant! The food exceeded our expectations! We had the Parma ham wrapped Fig with goats cheese and walnut salad and tuna steak and pork loin mains finished with a delicious dark chocolate tart. The staff were attentive and great at wine pairing - the dessert wine was lovely. After we had left a bag behind, this was kindly caught us walking back and returned it to us :)

Heard great thing about this place and it did not disappoint. The service was amazing and attentive. The menu was full of wonderful combinations. I had the venison terrine, which was delicious, the combination of the toasted bread, cornichon, chutney and terrine worked so well. For my main I had the pork loin, the meat was cooked beautifully and alltogether was a fantastic dish. Will definitely visit again

This place is a real hidden gem! It’s so unassuming but the food here is awesome. I’m a bit of a fussy diner atm as I’m doing a keto diet but each time I’ve been here I’ve asked to adjust my dishes and it’s never been a problem 👌🏼 The food is absolutely delicious, very well cooked and beautiful flavours! Staff are pleasant and attentive to your every need. It’s one of my favourite restaurants! Highly recommended.

Best roast beef I have had for a long time! All the food was delicious, great service too, excellent.

What a gourmet meal! My partner and I each had something different, and each dish was superb. Fresh, right size portions, tasty and beautifully presented. Haven't experienced such satisfying and delicately flavoured food for a long time. Staff were great and looked after our every whim. Will be back before long.

We have been to Bistro My Way twice now and have been impressed both times. The cocktails are amazing, the wine flows well, the food is tasty, and the service is on point. We made a last minute booking after having other plans cancelled and were accommodated and welcomed by friendly staff, we will definitely be returning. Thank you again Bistro My Way!🙂

I was visiting a friend in the area and she booked us into this restaurant. Oh my word, the meal was fantastic and the service was super friendly and efficient. I eat out a lot in central London and the quality of the food in this little bistro was right up there with the best. I'm already looking forward to a return visit.

OK this place is a freaking GEM, seriously. Stunning food made by a fantastic chef, FOH are very friendly and a caring. The presentation of the food is just as beautiful as the taste, well worth booking this for a party or celebration. I'm sure you won't be disappointed by the whole experience.

This is a proper restaurant, not a gastro-pub. The quality of their food and the menu options reflects this. Nice ambiance too. Recommended.

Various friends have recommended this restaurant and it doesn’t disappoint. Each dish is freshly cooked and prettily presented on the plate. I had a trout gravlax with a dill cream sauce and a spinach tortellini. Followed by a really well cooked sea bass fillet with a crisp skin on a bed of linguine, samphire and in a creamy seafood sauce. For desert I had the white and dark chocolate fondant which has a nice surprise in it with rum/raisin ice cream and banana. My Ellie diners had the cheese soufflé starter, beef bourguignon, hake and the waffle. They are happy to make dietary adjustments where possible and notified in advance. The restaurant is small and has a very intimate atmosphere and feels very French. Well worth trying.

This restaurant is fabulous, very varied menu with the addition of a very comprehensive specials board, we had 3 courses with a bottle of red house wine which was an excellent bottle of Merlot....we were very impressed with all the 3 courses and would go so far as to say the food we were served was up there with the best. The service was excellent and the staff friendly and efficient, thank you Bistro My Way for a lovely meal and bottle of wine in a friendly and welcoming environment. *****
