Wonderful cafe until 5th Sept when everything changes E.G, paper cups, eating out of paper bags , NO breakfasts , what's happening birds? Takings will certainly be down now. Hindleys Takings UP , I rest my case , food for thought birds!!!!!!!

The meal deal is good value for quality food all hand made. Pork pies are the best and freezable

Lovely local bakery, a must visit if you are in the area. Most towns in Derby/Burton have these shops. Our business recently moved so it's a local treat even closer to home!

Can't fault it always has good food either from hot food counter or cakes, staff are always lovley.

Good bakery, but stuff taking money from client and without changing gloves giving food another client. Sometimes they don't use gloves at all. Quite not what you expect from hygiene best practice. I prefer to pay more but make sure that stuff is aware to change gloves each time when they touch money.

No one can fault the quality of their produce, it's top notch. The staff are brilliant, always friendly and helpful, apart from the odd occasion when they employ someone who is inexperienced and generally younger and don't train them properly, always making mistakes on the till which leads to some customers being overcharged, and has happened to me on several occasions, but refunded. I mostly use the (West Bridgford) shop NG26EN, and i have notice some unsettling changes recently. I go there once or twice-a-week and have to watch what i am being charged. I spend around £15-20 per week and along with other items always buy a breakfast roll of bacon and egg. The price has been £2.90 for a while, but now i have noticed they charge you separately for the egg bumping the price up to £3.15? I'm told the egg is charged on an ''eat-in'' price, but i told the counter staff i don't eat in and asked why the prices have increased, they couldn't tell me. By rights they should display the take out price list on the wall so customers know exactly what they are being charged. I believe this to be a (Trading Standards) requirement. More unsettling is the turnover of staff. As i say they are generally very friendly and efficient but i suspect they are not being treated very well by BIRDS management. Some are expected to do extra unpaid hours, and occasionally are overwhelmed with the amount of customers standing in line waiting to be served. Also i have noticed, they they have been chipping away at the quality of certain products, like the packets of crisps for example, which previously were perfect, and now have been replaced with an inferior harder and less enjoyable ones, which i no longer buy. Cans of iced coffee have also disappeared from the shelves. I would say to management that maybe it's short-sighted of you focusing more on the bottom line and less on the quality of your products and staff which are suffering by your seemingly hard-nosed corporate approach. When taking all the above into consideration, this can only damage the business long term and your famous reputation being a leading bakery, confectioner and food outlet. Definitely room for improvement.

Brought a pack of four sausage rolls disgusting hard dry phoned ascot drive the main shop that I brought them from was told someone would ring me back no one did left my details never again will I buy any

Excellent breakfast cobs and a good selection of baked goods and cakes (And they are based in Derby so it's a cob not bap, roll, bread cake or whatever else you call It wherever your from alrite me duck)

They are a very local bakery and have a selection of hot and cold items with cakes and pastries i would say they don’t have always have a good selection because sometimes you go in and there is nothing or little to nothing to choose from

I particularly like the hot sausage cob. The doughnuts are great.

Love Birds food so much, I just wish they would make the Ascot Drive walk in shop bigger with seating which I'm really surprised they've never done seeing as it's the head quarters. This company must be one of the very best managed in Derby, as the company has gone from strength to strength, year on year and doesn't try to go too big too fast and sticks to what it does best offering high quality food to loyal customers.

Placed an order for home delivery for the first time a few days ago. Wanted to adjust the order and so contacted them. Left two voicemails and an email and no response from them. Very poor customer service.

Love Birds cobs and went in for 7 bags of large dinner rolls for Christmas when I got home I sadly found that I had one bag with only 9 in instead of 12 so make sure you count the contents of the bags.

This is the HQ shop, it was clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and quick to serve. The food was really nice, you can’t really go wrong with Birds- tasty and cheap. The only issue I have is the lack of vegetarian options- and is it clear enough to see what is vegetarian? I don’t want to seem like a pain, holding up the queue, asking what’s veggie, so let’s make it easier for the customer shall we. I grabbed a flat white to, that was nice!

Birds Factory Shop is the best Birds in the whole Midlands!! They are cheap, quick, and absolutely delicious!! Pastries and pies made fresh! Beautiful cakes & sweet treats, not to mention Birds' signature 200° Coffee. (which is my absolute favourite!) You can never go wrong with Birds Factory Shop!

The sandwiches are the best I have had from anywhere, a little pricier than other shops, but you get the quality, freshly baked and the taste is out of this world.. The cakes are even better, if you have not tried the donoughts then you dont knowcwhat your missing. Friendly staff, sufficient parking outside.

Although birds have a good reputation there never seems to be enough produce to meet demand and service is a it slow and prices just a bit high

Just called at the bakery shop and can’t believe how they’ve hiked the prices. A pastie which was about £1.40 last time I was in now £1.75. Greggs here I come.

Lovely fresh cakes and savouries. Fairly inexpensive too. I bought 2 caramel cream doughnuts, a fresh cream scone, a fabulous Florentine with really good chocolate on and a bottle of water, all for about £4.50. My daughter lives nearby and buys her bread and cakes there frequently.

Brought lunch to take home today from mickleover. Whist I love bird's today was not good. There appears to be no brand standard. My tuna roll was spread really thin cucumber was really cut thick not easy to bite into a bread base producer. My husband chicken salad had 1 small peice of lettuce in the middle roll and 2 halves of cucumber 10 ml thick. Think next time we will try bird's near were we live . Consistency of filled bread roll Very disappointing. Next time we will return product maybe to head office in ascot drive.

Birds bakery is second to none and their cakes and pastries are very quickly sold out so it's best to get there early.
