My husband and I went to buy something the other day, after that we didn't get off the toilet and it took us "of the job" for 2 whole days. I noticed that this bakery in our area already has a bad reputation. I won't go here anymore and I don't recommend it.

On Thursday 14th November 2024, my family of 5 - 2 x adults, 1 x 11 year old, 1 x 8 year old and 1 x 3 year old - purchased lamb and mint pasties and a sausage roll. Four of them ended up with food poisoning with both vomiting and diarrhea and took them 3 days to get over it. Only the 3 year old did not vomit nor have diarrhea as she only nibbled on the pastry. The other 4 members of my family ate the meat. None of them had had anything else to eat before eating these, so clearly showed that it was from their purchase at Birds, Mackworth store!

Yesterday, my wife , 3y old daughter & 8y old son had some food from this bakery. All end up in the hospital 😡 We used to love Bird'b, but never again! I'll make sure this shop gets checked by environmental health soon to prevent poisoning others!

No Idea how it can go so wrong making 4 cobs. Wrong fillings, wrong sauces, sausage so burnt it literally crumbles, cobs are like toast on one side, I assume from the delivery drivers hot box, but somehow stone cold. Store staff couldn’t give a toss. Really disappointing.

Since the pandemic birds have gone with the simpler way to serve cooked Meat and sausage used to be lose now staying with prepacked should return to old methods as birds were always renowned for their personal service to individuals who want one or more from their stores

Not Birds usual standard. Doughnuts were stale and dry. Full of cream but hard to eat. Only nice thing was the tiny elephants foot. Great size for kids but a ridiculous price. Better off buying a large one and wasting some. Not pleased with the order unfortunately. Only thing correct was the collection time.

We order 2 breakfast meals they didn't arrive????

Placed an order for 2 meal deal when delivered we have drinks no food so rang Birds only to be told nothing they could do as the member of staff says they sent the order and doesn't know what happened. No help at all will not be using again and would advise anyone not to use Mackworth .

Could not eat the sausage cob as the sausage was like charcoal never had that happen before

I bought a sausage and bacon cob for £3.75 you get 2 slices of bacon and 1 sausage. Both the sausage and bacon was dry and hard like they have been left out over night, The worst buttie I have ever had.

I got served with a smile which was nice for a change. He was very nice . But unfortunately when he wrapped my quiches up he touched them with his hands which put me off . I bought dinner rolls and they were very very dry . I am going to call and complain as this is the 3rd time. I use birds less and less. Which is a shame. What's happening with the bread rolls ??

Nice Birds shop. Staff are very welcoming & always go the extra mile if requested i.e. Making up Cobs freshly if requested.

I go to this Birds here in Duffield. The ladies are just lovely to talk to. Buy my ancient grains bread here. If you haven't tried it you should it's delicous. I also buy cakes too!
