Bintang Restaurant in Camden

Found this place on instagram and am i glad i went. Seating area was small and it was busy so we sat at the bar, however it was clean and plenty of space to eat, first time for everything. The food was spectacular, prices were what you expect from restaurants in London, so understandably fairly priced but more to the high side. Service was brilliant, for a busy bank holiday weekend it was solid. Will definitely be coming again, a well deserved 5/5 stars

Have been to Bintang multiple times now and it never disappoints. Always an amazing, lively atmosphere, with friendly and attentive staff. Cocktails and food are delicious and come out quickly. Outside seating is perfect for summer too. Close to the tube station amd easy to get to. Would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come back again.

We had some pretty unique Filipino dishes here, the fried rice and sizzling beef in particular were pretty good. Prices are a little on the higher side and service wasn't the quickest though.

Literally my favourite restaurant in London! Been going there for years, wish I lived closer! Gutted they took some things off the menu (lamb ribs) ! But recommend the oxtail, fried potato salad and dirty fried rice! The addition of cocktails too, is almost as good as the BYOB days!

The food was great and the service was good. I’d recommend any of the food for sure and I’d come back again. The Oak chicken, dirty rice, the sliders and Filipino Lamb is what we got and it was all great!!

Every plate was a smash hit. As a skeptic of spring rolls, these were excellent. Mango float was great too.

Atmosphere and service were nice, lovely staff and the only good thing about the restaurant. The food was atrocious tbh… everything was so oily. Beef sisig was very oily and not nice overall, the texture, the flavours or the lack of Meat spring rolls (lumpia) also very oily, you can taste the fryer. Tempura prawns £13+ oily as well and so was the garlic rice 😵‍💫 the only thing i liked was papaya salad and drinks. Would not recommend or come again. Prices did not reflect quality of the food

Food is very poor quality, no flavour to be honest.. overpriced, not authentic taste at all. Very disappointing..just way below average. Waste of money and time. Service is normal.

Halal. But full alcohol bar. Flavours are great, portions are good but they keep changing the menu. A lot of my faves like the rib starters and steak curry have been removed from the menu. Prices have increased too and the decor/layout keeps changing. As of writing, the front of house is a bar.

My partner booked us a meal here and I had no idea what to expect as I wouldn't have chose it myself. I like to try food from different cultures but would mainly do so when I am in that culture and kind of have to. I really enjoyed the experience here as the food was very good. The service was great from the outset too.

Great service and delicious food!

Tapas (small plate) style but with Filipino food. Also has Thai and Indo dishes. It's a great way to taste several menu options. Food is great. Staff is also super nice. Our table was the one downstairs, and it had a more mellow vibe than the ground floor.

What I liked: The food was great! We ordered sisig, chicken inasal and dirty fried rice. What I did not like: Despite the nice food, I find the place to narrow. While I appreciate we were accepted as walk-ins and were asked to eat at the bar area, we were asked to move to a corner while we eating cause they said there is not enough space for people passing through. There are no spoon and fork provided and the plate is too small for eating rice with viand! I find the food delicious but the service and atmosphere needs improvement. We were also charged with 12% service charge without being asked and I was honestly not happy giving this given the mediocre service received. I did not complain anymore but upon reading the comments here, they complained the same thing that customers were not asked for this service charge.

The food was so good we finished our dishes in 5 minutes… then ordered some more. The oak smoked chicken inasal was our top dish.

Love this spot! Nice to come again after a while and enjoy the delicious food. The Rib eye beef is a must try if you go so is the pad thai so is everything we got! Hit the spot most definitely. The ambiance was amazing too and the staff were the loveliest. Literally. Attentive, kind and friendly. Good vibes and good food what more could you ask for. Really great place with lovely food - surprisingly hot/spicy curries, garlic fried rice and big portions. Well worth it!

The place is old and smell , the table was dirty , the seats was garnish on it I guess when they try to clean the table it’s just dropped and they didint noticed , toilet is right next to the table , the food is below average it’s taste ok but not how should be , I’m not blaming anyone but I had a stomach pain after the food some of them was to spicy or not hot enough, the most disturbing is the dishes what normally should come with rice like curry you have to buy the rice separately, I think if you pay £16 or £19 for a curry it should include the rice specially that the place is old and small nothing special. I wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend, the only one thing what is good is the staff they are friendly and helpful, trying to do they best .

Incredible food. Such great flavours. The mussels were brilliant and atmosphere was also perfect for a relaxed dinner.

Only came back for the pandesal sliders; the bun is just so soft and slightly sweet, did not disappoint. Got the glazed lamb ribs and chicken inasal both great but the ribs were my favourite. The chicken tasted like a smoked jerk but less intense, I used my slider to mop up the sauce 10/10.

As a Filipina, highly recommend. Went there for an anniversary and the set up and music was really chill vibes. Food did not disappoint. I only really tried their Filipino food and, even though nothing can ever beat my lola's cooking, Bintang's chefs definitely know what they're doing. That dirty fried rice oh my god🤌 Only Pinoy restaurant that feels authentic enough and worth the expense tbh. Shoutout to the two kuyas that served us as well because they were very attentive and fast with the food. Highly recommend it when introducing Filipino food to people for the first time too since they have a good range of meals and it's all halal too, so I'm definitely coming back with my friends.

Shout out to Ton for his customer service!! Food and atmosphere was perfect, though I preferred the lychee drink over mango.

Food was delicious, great music (not too loud which I really appreciate) and very friendly, calm service. Both Andrei and his coworker (curly hair and tattoos - didn’t catch the name!) were hospitable and charming! :)

Without a doubt, another wonderful experience at Bintang. The food & drinks were delicious and the staff was genuinely friendly and attentive. A big shout-out to Angel, Mayar, Jose, Andrei & Ton, the chefs and remaining kitchen staff. Highly recommend and will (definitely) be back!

Great Filipino food and also good service

My wife and I came to have a taste of the Philippines in London. Wholly impressed with the quality of food here, albeit quite expensive. We had Tapsilog (£16), chicken honey chili wings (£9), Garlic rice (£5) and a calamansi drink (£6). A bit on the expensive side really, but can wholly justify the cost compared to quality of food. Wow. Blown away. I would caution the owner wisely against attempting to charge a 12.5% service charge without stating so first. I challenged this and was asked for a valid reason to remove. I stayed that this is not a statutory charge in the UK. It also must be clearly stated on menus before ordering. There is downstairs seating, if you're over 6ft please watch your head. The toilet was a little dusty but not dirty. No hand soap (empty bottle left on the shelf). Despite the niggles, I would recommend coming here, but please challenge the dirty tactic of service charging, especially for food which I'd consider expensive in the first place. This is elevated Filipino food done well. Tapsilog is a traditional breakfast food but it was enjoyed for a day meal. As we left, the server left a sour taste by not saying goodbye to me after challenging the service charge. He said goodbye to my wife though. That's a shame

Nicest food I’ve had in the area!

I had the Oxtail Kare Kare and dirty rice. The portions were great and tasted amazing.

The food was soooo tasty! Plenty of GF dishes. We sat at the bar which we enjoyed but tables downstairs if there are more than 2 in your party. £6 margarita during happy hour 5-7 M-F

Really really not impressed. I came here with a few friends and sat outside as it was a hot day. The service was unbelievably slow. I have never experienced anything like it! So slow, in fact, that we were all served our food separately and couldn't eat together - because that would require waiting 30 plus minutes and letting the food get cold. At one point we had to remind the server that we were still waiting for people's food and he genuinely looked surprised? Even getting the bill was a nightmare and took another 20 minutes - we made sure to ask the server to stay with us so we could pay immediately, instead of having him vanish for another half hour. The servers were polite enough, but didn't seem interested in checking up on customers. And at the end - a massive service charge added on top of our bill. Unbelievable! We challenged it and had it removed because while I generally don't mind paying for it, it was definitely NOT deserved in this case. The food was very good though, I'll give them that, from the starters to the mains. I had the okoy fritters and chicken inasal with garlic fried rice, and all were delicious.

Recently visited and loved it! The starters—Lumpiang Shanghai (spring rolls), Okoy Fritters, and Calamansi Chilli Wings—were absolutely delicious. We’d go back just for those! For mains, the Sambal Inasal (smoked chicken) was amazing, full of smoky flavor, while the Oxtail Kare Kare didn’t quite hit the mark for us. The service was great, the old-school music added a fun vibe, and overall, it’s a spot we’ll return to—especially for those starters!

The food here is an absolute 10/10! Full of flavor. I loved the atmosphere, especially with the Filipino music playing in the background— it added a great touch. The staff were super nice and made the experience even better. Highly recommended! Ordered beef sisig, noodles with tofu and aubergine. Drinks: lychee and mango. Dessert- icre cream ube sandwich.

Best food we had on our trip to London. Super friendly staff and the food was out of this world. We got the Bitang noodles and the beef sisig. Both were amazing and we savored every bite. The pandesal slider was also very very good. In addition we had 2 mango-lada mock tails which were very tasty and paired well with our meal. Top 10 meals of my life.

Some of the best curry I've had - ever! We had the oxtail kare kare and the lamb rendang; both were fantastic. I can't recommend this place enough. We got the picante and the classic daiquiri. I am a cocktail bartender so I can say with confidence that they were made perfectly. During happy hour (5-7pm Mon-Fri) they're only £6 each! This place is so worth the price.

Teníamos estos fideos de huevo picante, el arroz frito sucio, y la carne de res Sistang que era tan, tan increíble y complejo. Me alegro de haber encontrado este lugar. Gracias por una comida fabulosa!

No es una gran bienvenida, sentado fuera y las mesas y asientos no eran tan cómodos. No la señora más feliz que tomó nuestro pedido , la comida se recibió y el entrante estaba bien, el pan que es similar a un naan indio era tan grasiento, los principales como el curry estaba lleno de un aceite graso, la carne estaba cruda, no soy de los que se quejan, pero sí debería haberlo hecho, pero nuestro amigo nos llevó tan se sentía avergonzado por ella si empezaba a decir gemidos. Luego mi compañero estaba a mitad de la comida y tuvo que salir de la mesa en tres ocasiones para estar enfermo, , luego observamos un ratón corriendo entre mesas, el lugar no es tan limpio la cubierta de la mesa estaba sucia, la servidora podía ver que mi esposa no estaba bien, pero optó por no decir nada, entonces la factura llegó y cómo pueden cobrar un precio tan extorsivo más alrededor de £ 14 cargo por servicio realmente desafía la lógica. Evitaría este lugar, total insatisfacción y decepción.

Would highly recommend the glazed lamb ribs, this was our favourite 🤩 The smoked chicken Inasal also didn’t disappoint. Loved that everything was halal for my husband. Staff were friendly and polite, would re-visit.

We had the chicken inasal, beef kare-kare and buko pie. Everything was delicious and my favourite was the buko pie. Masarap lahat and they were very attentive and friendly especially Andre who was working at that time. It looks small when you enter but they have a nice outdoor seating area at the back and a lower level with more seats. There’s a Mamasons next door (a popular spot for Filipino sweets/desserts) but Bintang also serves the same desserts since I think their under one company so it was really nice to have some really nice Mamasons desserts without leaving the table/restaurant.

Had a great dinner here during the week. We got a few dishes as the food was served “small plates” style and was so flavourful. We were also lucky enough to arrive during happy hour and the cocktails were fantastic too. It was all topped off by super friendly staff and great service. Only real caveat is that the restaurant itself is a little on the smaller side, but in a a cosy and intimate way.

When you enter the restaurant, you feel like you're in the Philippines. The song is Novela by Join the club. My husband and I had lunch. At first we were on the ground floor then I realized there was a chin when I went to CR. We switched to a chubby waitress. Suddenly he tripped, you can feel it. When the Menu was given to us, there was no enthusiasm, obviously not wanting to eat. It's just OFF for me right away. There is no Filipino hospitality. The food is delicious but you can't call it Filipino food. Coming from Pampanga. The kare kare is sweet, the OKAY can be done, the sisig doesn't even sizzle when served. Long onion slices instead of small ones. You just wear overalls at Kasa and Kin. two stars because it's ok.

Came in with a friend, and immediately got welcomed in and seated. We was sat at the bar which was very nice, and plates and menus were given to us very quickly. We chose out food and drinks which were handed to us and the drinks alone were amazing. I ordered the spring rolls and they were so well done and presented very nicely. Over all great atmosphere in there and will definitely be coming back soon.

One of the best filipino places i’ve been to in general. We had the pandesal slider, lumpia, papaya salad, ox tail kare kare, prawn pancit, roti, garlic fried rice, and buko pie and ube brownie for dessert. Every single dish was delicious, all hits. Not a single dull moment. The papaya salad was so tasty with a perfect amount of heat from the chilies, the beef and lamb lumpia were so flavorful and the pandesal slider was so comforting. The ox tail kare kare was gorgeous. The sauce was perfect, the peanut flavor was balanced and the meat was so tender. The garlic fried rice with the kare kare hit the spot and reminded me of home. The pancit was some of the best i’ve had. It was so fresh and there we a good amount of prawns. i’m only here visiting but next time i come to London I’m absolutely coming back.

Started with great cocktails, followed by a very delicious lamb curry and roti canai. The flavours were very well balanced. My girlfriend really enjoyed the vegetarian noodles, however it would be nice if there were more non meat options.

First time here but I've been following them for awhile and they didn't disappoint. I'm just not sure of the beef and lamb Shanghai. I'm not a fan but everything else is really good!

I recently visited Bintang on a Wednesday evening with two friends to celebrate a birthday, and our experience was exceptional from start to finish. TL;DR: incredibly friendly staff, good vibes and really unique flavour in each of the dishes. (& it’s halal!) Upon arrival, we were seated at the bar, which was both comfortable and had a vibrant, lively atmosphere. The staff are friendly and their banter was on point - setting a welcoming and enjoyable tone for the evening. The food was outstanding, with each dish featuring unique and memorable flavours that exceeded my expectations. The creativity and quality of the dishes truly stood out. As a delightful surprise, the staff sang "Happy Birthday" to my friend, adding a special touch to our celebration. To cap off the evening, we ordered desserts from Mamasons, and the accommodating staff happily brought them over for us. Thank you SO much for a wonderful evening.

Booked a table for 8pm. Ordered as soon as we were seated. Didnt get served till 8:30pm for starters. Main didnt come at all and at 9pm we asked to cancel and leave. The waitress gave us the full bill (with mains that didnt get served + another table that ordered their mains were served before us), goes to show they dont pay attention to their tables. When the bill was rectified, they still had the cheek to add service charge. No apology nothing. We wanted to leave asap as we were still hungry so didn't challenge the bill. Will give credit where credit is due: the chicken wings were amazing!!! Not amazing enough to cost £10 for 4 wings and being ignored the whole night…

I had the pleasure of dining at Bintang recently, and it was a fantastic experience. The blend of Bengali and Filipino cuisine is a unique and delightful combination. What a fab find this place is. Atmosphere was buzzing at an early dinner Thu. The staff were great & helpful though they were very busy. The food was excellent & a bit different. Nearly forgot to mention the cocktails....😋

Tenía muchas ganas de conocer los sabores de aquí, pero estaba decepcionado y avergonzado. Para ser honesto, las primeras impresiones no fueron geniales. El primer punto de contacto no es el servicio al cliente más acogedor que he tenido. V mesas pequeñas y zona de comedor estrecha. La comida era sorprendentemente mediocre - el inasal de pollo ahumado de roble era solo un pollo asado carbonizado en V sin sabor. (Honestamente tenía mejor de las franquicias de pollo). Mi pedido de curry Bintang estaba mal (pedí que se intercambiaran las gambas con pollo y no fue así). Mi curry Bintang no tenía especias ni sabores fuertes como se dijo y no podía saborear realmente la hierba de limón. El deslizador Pandasal es una pequeña hamburguesa de ternera sosa que es exagerada (lo siento), pero los lugares de comida rápida tienen más sabor. En un positivo nuestro camarero era encantador. Pero en realidad esto no valía las 64 libras. 70 bill.

We came for supper on a Friday evening. It’s a cosy place with great food. We had Okoy fritters, ulek curry, Bintang curry and 2 rices dishes. All good. Friendly staff. We will come back.

What a hidden gem. We visited this restaurant and was not left disappointed. When we arrived we are welcomed by true Filipino hospitality, the staff (sorry I didn’t get his name) was an amazing host. He goes beyond to accommodate our request and made us feel very welcomed. The service is very attentive and wow, the food was second to none. We almost finished every dish we ordered. My top notch would be the papaya salad.

Delicious food!! I’ll be happy to come back here any time. We had the Bintang curry, Bintang noodles, Prawn pancit and morning glory. All had very different flavours, each one very special. Definitely recommend this address!

Love this place! Super friendly staff and amazing food. Don't miss their incredible cocktails. My favourites: The Bintang noodles are incredible with their special sauce, the lamb Rendang curry is delicious, and their Roti is perfect. Drinks: They make a fantastic dirty martini, and their signature clarified ube cocktail is a must-try! Desserts are awesome too! The Bilog in the picture is delicious, their ice cream alone is already fabulous. Their Buko pie is the best, definitely try it.

Yummy local restaurant with really cool vibes!!

Really tasty food and great service! I walked in around 5pm and was seated at the bar, so do make reservations if you want a table/have a larger group. The person who served me was great at explaining everything and made a yummy recommendation: the oxtail curry 🤤 Price: a bit expensive, so this will be a treat-yo-self place for me in the future, but not a regular option. Fun fact: this restaurant has been in this same spot for over 30 years!

Love this place. A special shout out to Maya who went the extra mile to take care of us. I called to say I was on my way and would be there in 20 mins (5 mins before the kitchen closed) and it took a bit longer than expected and she called back to ask if I wanted to order over the phone which I thought was so nice. Amazing service and beautiful food. Thank you!

2nd visit to bintang and they never disappoint with the flavours of the food! Slight issue in that a few of the food and drinks weren't available due to particular ingredients being out of stock, however what was available was still really good!

We were the first ones there, and I came with my friends when they broke their fast for ramadan. Very accommodating, offered dates for those fasting, and all meats are halal! Food was amazing. Had the dirty fried rice, oxtail kare kare, lamb rendang, and kalamansi chicken wings. All very flavourful, lots of seasoning, and great portion sizes. Presentation is very top notch. Would definitely go again. Friendly and accommodating staff, good environment, good food, portion and value for money. Fast service.

2nd visit - April 2024 This time we tried Chicken liver popcorn which tasted really good. It has a spicy and tangy taste and it was crunchy. You could really taste the liver which I love. Also tried the Chicken Inasal and again we just love this dish. Everything that we have tried here is very unique but still with a hint of the filipino food. 1st visit Amazing food! Levelled up Filipino dishes. We went here on a Saturday afternoon and were seated right away. Their staff was super nice and just had an excellent customer service skills. We were served by the Short haired girl and immediately after she gave us the menu she explained how is it best to order and like how many dishes do they recommend. The food was served quickly. We ordered Chicharon (Super crunchy) love the vinegar as well Ox tail Kare Kare (This is the dish we loved the most, the meat was so tender and it is best paired with their garlic rice. The sauce is just super good) Garlic rice (Amazing!) Okoy fritters Lumpia After we finished our meal, the waiter asked ask if we want to have our dessert. Which we did. She offered desserts in the resto but you can order with Mamasons which is just beside them. You dont have to go there but they will just deliver it to you. We ordered the cream cheese calamansi cake(Not sure what its called but its their new dessert which is yummy) And buko pie with ube ice cream. Will definitely go back to this restaurant.

First of all, as a Filipino, the food is nothing like the typical Filipino food. There is very little choice of food, everything is basically spicy. But worst of all, we were served a raw chicken which was eaten by kids and we discovered it too late as the lights were dimmed and they had already eaten a little bit. The dish was taken out of the bill but they didn't seem bothered about it at all. Overall ,very bad experience

We had a great dinner there. We had a couple of starters, a main each and a ube ice cream for dessert and everything was delicious. The staff was very nice and helpfull :) Good vegan and vegetarian options, we had the tofu bites, the potato with feta and alioli salad and the tofu and aubergine noodles, all of them were amazing! I'll be coming back for sure :)
