Almas Restaurant in Camden

Excellent discovery of this PERSIAN Specialty Restaurant in London. A Family Dinner in a magnificent setting and a warm atmosphere. The welcoming and attentive service by the charming Room Manager was perfect. The setting is sumptuous and modern, a true Culinary Journey to the Land of 1001 Nights at the ALMAS Restaurant which lives up to its majestic name very well. The Chef in the Kitchen masters the Persian Culinary Art to perfection: the Dishes are generous, with very high quality ingredients: the meat skewers are tender and succulent, the chicken skewer is perfectly juicy, the Rice is truly delicious. The Lamb Mouse, Baghali Polo and Mahicheh, a real treat. The icing on the cake is the Persian Tea served in a Teapot by candlelight in magnificent glasses. Sincerely, I hope for great success at Restaurant ALMAS, which fully deserves it. Excellent value for money, much cheaper than most Iranian Restaurants in London. Some comments read here are unfortunately incorrect, because ALMAS Restaurant sincerely offers delicious dishes with a true Persian Flavor. Happy New Year 2025 to ALMAS Restaurant.

Food is fine but not top notch! There are way higher quality Persian dishes in restaurants of London. Service is fine. But there is a bad ambience and terrible taste if interior and the food itself decoration which effects the experience! Hens it’s not a top Persian restaurant in London.

Excellente Découverte à Londres de ce Restaurant PERSIAN. Le Cadre est somptueux, digne des Palais de la Perse. Un véritable Voyage Culinaire au Pays des 1001 Saveurs. L'Art Culinaire Perse est parfaitement ressenti et maîtrisé dans chaque Plat: les Brochettes de viande are succulentes, le poulet juteux une veritable merveille parfumé de son Riz Safrané. Le Service et l'accueil sont chaleureux, le Personnel est sincèrement TOP. Un excellent rapport qualité-prix, surtout beaucoup moins cher que la plupart des Restaurants Iraniens à Londres. Kashk-bademjon was straight out of a jar, tasted like water. Koobideh’s meat was hard and smelt badly. A total waste of time and money. Made a mistake taking my parents. Will never go back and will tell all my friends to avoid at all costs. After paying I told the lovely waitress all the above. She was apologetic. However the restaurant owner didn’t even have the decency to face us or acknowledge their shortcomings.

The design in the restaurant is extremely nice and classy, it blends the persian and Europian art styles to perfection. For my dinner I had the Lamb Shank which was amazing, the meat was tender and came right off the bone with ease. My friends had the koobideh which was very savoury and juicy. We will definitley return.

Very beautiful persian decor! I highly recommend the Kebab Koobideh it’s so juicy and you can tell the meat used is very high quality. Best koobideh in London!! Staff are so friendly and nice. They gave us tea on the house and it was the whole pot too, not just a cup. I will always come here from now on :) I love how everything is so aesthetic!! Usually persian restaurants have nice food, but bad decor. Almas restaurant has the best food and the most luxurious persian decor.

Don't be fooled by the old reviews. The food is really bad that we chose not to finish it. They also charge you a mandatory 10% service charge even though the service is not good.

The worst restaurant ever. Meat was old and definitely microwaved. Rice microwaved as well for 1 dish. But for other meal looks cooked from 2 days ago. It smelled foul. Fresh orange juice, 1/4 seeds. Strongly disagree with any one who rated "one of best restaurant".

A very elegant and beautiful Persian restaurant. The decor is absolutely stunning! However, we were quite disappointed with the food and service; my husbands kebab was a bit off, didn't taste right. The salad portions were very little, unlikely in Persian restaurants. The service was poor too, it wasn't busy but we had to wait for a bit for the waitress to take our order and had to come to the front desk a couple of times to order more items, she wasn't really present on the floor. The runner was not really attentive either. Overall, I don't think I will be back, sorry!

Service was cold and unwelcoming, genuinely laughable at how bad it was. Waitress couldn’t have been less engaged with anyone who wasn’t her family. No opportunity to give feedback on food or experience and she obviously did not care. Food was mediocre - Barg was covered in butter, koobideh had no seasoning or flavour and rice was overcooked with a poor attempt at soggy Tahdig (embarrassing for a Persian restaurant). Definitely not the ‘best Persian restaurant in London’. (For the restaurant’s reference we came for lunch on Saturday 2nd Nov)

We’ve ordered from this restaurant many times, but this was our first time dining in as a family—and it was a letdown. The starters were good, though bread arrived halfway through. We ordered lamb and chicken kebabs, and my daughter had the meal deal with bagh and chicken kebab. The lamb kebab was drenched in butter, making it so greasy that it was nearly inedible. I let the waiter know, and he agreed to take it away but informed me that it would be charged which I wasn’t happy about as I only tasted the kebab, the rest was untouched. however they had taken it away when the bill came, which I appreciated. When the bill came, we noticed we’d been charged separately for the items in the meal deal instead of as a combo, leading to an overcharge of about £19. When I called to address it, they only refunded £5. With four waiters there, only ours was attentive, while the others stayed behind the counter chatting. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially from a place we usually enjoy.

I had a very nice time at Almaas restaurant for my 19th birthday , the staff was very accommodating and kind and helped me have a good time. Decor is beautiful. The food was delicious and the meat was cooked correctly and full of flavour, me and my friends had the mixed platter and there was more than enough to go around at a good value per person. We also had tabouleh, and it was also really nice, and then some chai as well to end the evening. Thank you to Almaas staff for being kind and helpful and I would return here for another meal or occasion :)

The restaurant is beautiful and we went for Lunch during a quiet time, we ordered the meat platter and the sides were great but the meat was not good, it had a strong chemical taste and the lamb was very chewy. We commented this to the waitress but she just shrugged her shoulders and said “I don’t know” and took the payment. Very disappointing and would not recommend.

APPALLING service by the young girl which cannot be compensated for by the food unfortunately. Bibi in West Hampstead is a far better option for food just as amazing

We went with 7 friends to this restaurant for an evening out but the service was terrible, food horrible and they don’t serve alcohol. I’ve been to hundreds of restaurants and I’ve got to say that this one was the worst! Avoid at all costs!

Service was very poor with the waitress not being attentive at all. Her recommendations for the starters were totally over the top. For drinks there was no alcohol served. Avoid at all costs!

Not impressed with this restaurant or the service provided. Although it wasn't busy, we waited 15 minutes and then had to remind the waitress to put water on our table. Food was only average considering the price we paid. Will not return.

The payment for service was weird!!

Being half Persian, I regularly go to Persian restaurants. Sadly this was probably the worst I’ve ever been to. I could have forgiven the sterile atmosphere & poor/cold service had the food be good, but the food was really very disappointing. Firstly the rice, which sound have been topped with ‘tadig’ (crispy rice) was soft & soggy! Then, the bread, which is apparently baked on site, was dry, stale, flavourless & tasted more like shop bought & warmed up. The Koobideh kebab was so fatty I question whether there was actually any meat content! We also asked for extra onions (twice), but this never came. The Gormesabzi was a disappointment to say the least & most of it was left. Finally, the bastani (ice cream), whilst it tasted nice, the texture was so weirdly glupey, that it was off putting for all of us! Such a huge shame as we had invited friends with us, who had never tasted Persian food before, and I felt quite embarrassed that this should be their first experience of it. Needless to say, we will definitely not be returning!

Some of the best Iranian food in London!! And such great value compared to berenjak which comes in at £20 per kebab, this place does a platter for 4 people where each person gets a plate of tahdig for just £59. Will definitely be coming back and recommending to everyone!

Definitely worth a visit! Excellent selection of food... we tried a variety of the authentic starters, and got a mix grill for four to share. There was more than enough food and all very flavoursome at a reasonable price. Been to Behesht and Persian Palace which are also good and I feel do some dishes marginally better but that does not mean Almas is in any way bad. I would visit here again if I was in the area. Service was good and atmosphere okay too. Great location!

I had Jujeh Kebab, and I gotta say the chicken was flavourful and delicious. It was tender and well done - it came nicely with rice and some vegetables. I also had a garlic naan bread - it was good but not the best. I thought it had a bit too much oil. I could say it’s one of the best Persian restaurants in London, and I would go there again in a heartbeat
