Big John’s in Manchester

The food feels like it takes ages to arrive the chips are just not up to standard and the burger just feels slightly cold every item I have tried has been so different to what I expected given it a couple try’s will not be going again

Tried the chicken burger expecting a proper spicy dipped one, but it turned out to be a processed patty with just mayo, nothing special at all. Definitely not what I was hoping for. The chips were decent, but overall, I’d say avoid the burger. Plenty of better options elsewhere.

Food was late (10mins after the last estimated time) and was stone cold. No-one likes eating reheated Pizza. Its shame as we normally really enjoy Big Johns

The potato wedges were absolutely amazing—crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection! The pizza was decent, though it didn’t quite wow me. Unfortunately, the experience was dampened by the fact that the restaurant’s door wouldn’t close properly, letting in a constant stream of cold air. It made the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable, which was a shame because the food had so much potential. A little fix on the door would make a big difference in creating a cozy and enjoyable dining experience!

Visited 09/02/2025, when arrived greeted and advised that no kebabs and no grilled food available which is the majority of the menu, once ordered chicken burger and fries meal, spicy chicken burger and fries meal, chicken tenders and fries, the food came quickly. I’d say the fries are average and not seasoned and without a drink they can become dry/claggy after eating a few of them. Condiments are available if you ask as is fork if requested. Not a bad place and prices are not too bad for the area and choices available in the vicinity ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Cannot tell you about the food but when we walked in there was nobody there. No customers. One lady staff member behind the till who really struggled to communicate and was disinterested in serving. We asked where the menu was? She pointed to a LED screen behind her where half of the screen was not even functioning. We asked for paper menus but she said they don't have any. We walked straight out. Disaster of a place compared to Birmingham branches (the menu also seemed different here, from what we could gather from the half working LED screen, and not in a good way)

The online advertised closing times are false, which is so annoying. Went at 8:30 (says it shuts at 11 on a Monday) and told its shut. They’ll hopefully update this if they see this. The staff aren’t the friendliest either. Shame cause the food isn’t that bad. But other places are recommended.

I ordered from the lunch menu . I've visited many times and never disappointed. The fried chicken is 10/10 on flavour and quality. I ordered the lamb donna and chips /salad . 1 piece of fried chicken and chips and 1 fillet burger along with 2 drinks for £11. This is a food gem. New and fresh. Good music and a clean toilet !! 10/10

The fried chicken is my favourite in manchester and qauilty and flavour is 10/10 . Nice modern diner with music playing and a clean working toilet!! Definitely worth a visit

Rude staff, the guy at cachier was super rude and angry, First time there, and probably last, when i asked what’s your best seller, what would u recommend, he said you can have anything 😂 I ordered a burger to eat in, he gave me in a take away bag, when i asked him to put in a tray, he smashed it.

Please owner treat your staff with respect, your bad attitude towards your staff was clearly displayed, bullying and putting staff down should not be allowed, did you not see the recent news where a young boy took his life, some ppl need their jobs and have no choice but to tolerate with this behaviour, it’s wrong! Please deal with them with respect and as humans. We’re all struggling to make it, please don’t make it hard for them.

If you like bad service and bad food this place is for you. Worst take away I have ever been!

Amazing food, amazing service, food came quickly and good portions. Amazing atmosphere was able to sit inside and outside. Affordable prices and loads of options. I will definitely be returning to this diner.

order arrived more than 30 minutes after it was sent for delivery. All the food was cold, poor quality and when I contacted the shop they were less than helpful and didn't want to help. Very poor service and food.

The chicken was decent. Nothing amazing about the meal.

Atmosphere is fine enough with the 2010s white girl music but the food and service leave something to be desired. Waited 25 minutes for one single spicy chicken burger and people who ordered after us with bigger orders got served first. When finally getting around to eating the burger it had bits of gristle and still had some tendons in it. Not worth the 25 minutes wait

Worst experience on just eat food didn’t arrive yet showing delivered on the app and the phone just ringing out.

We ordered a chicken wrap meal and since that meal been very ill,food poisoning,high temperature vomiting stomach ache headache,how regretful,phoned up to let them know,no refund or any compensation been offered..thumbs down

once we got our food we was hoping to enjoy our meal, except all we got was disappointment, the Fries wasn't what the picture shows at all they were chippy chips and they put cheese sauce on it not proper cheese, the kebab had chilli's on it when I wasn't even listed to have it at all and on the spicy burger there was no spice at all, it's very misleading and it was cold

Ordered from Uber Eats.The Food was absolutely disgusting ruined my friends birthday meal they added hot chilli sauce, ketchup And mayo which we didn’t ask for the portion was tiny and we ordered fries they sent chips in the end threw in The bin where it belongs. Waste of £6 has to buy my friend another meal/

I’m really disappointed with what I received. This is completely unacceptable and will not be ordering from here again. I hope in future you double check what you give your customers.

I came here with a friend who has a gluten allergy and they ordered a burger without a bun, the girl at the tills seemed confused and we explained they can’t have things with gluten and we just wanted the patties and cheese, the food came and we opened it up to see a burger with buns. we went back to the tills and told her that we specifically did not want the buns and she still looked confused, so instead we asked for mixed donor with just salad and no chips(we were told the chips are fried in the same oil as products with gluten) we thought that would be straight forward so we didn’t think to check before leaving. When we opened the box there were chips and my friend had to throw the food away as they couldn’t eat it. The service overall was very disappointing as you should be able to adhere to simple dietary needs

I tried an Asian style pizza. The guy on pizza section made an excellent pizza. Probably one of the best pizza in Manchester. I had to go and say him words of appreciation.

Absolutely wonderful food. We got wraps and loaded fries. Loaded fries like you’ve never had before. And the pepper mayo was insanely good. This is definitely gonna be our regular take out!

We ordered chicken burger meals tbh the burgers were ok bit the chips were cold and smelt of oil used over and over again.. hard and smelly chips wad very annoyed as we live about 3 minutes away and we took food straight home tried to call up but nobody picks up... stay away if you like chips

Pissed me off today been going to this takeaway more than a year and today was terrible, first of all the girl doesn’t know what she’s saying or I guess she didnt understand what I’m saying I had to say repeat myself 5 times and second she made my pizza which had no veggies no cheese like hello I didn’t pay for the dough only?? Disgusting train the staff first how to speak and listen and how to make food as well. The food was ok but the customer service was Terrible!!!

Was told by the driver that they broke down and the order would be another hour. Appreciated the call. But after waiting all that time. The food was lukewarm at best. Burger was soggy.

Paper thin pizza - half didnt even have any cheese on - partially uncooked dough.

food was very very very disgusting. Went out then realized my airpods were missing, location showed it was in the resturant, went back asked to check around they declined. Got me trash bags and told me to search around, didn't even help me open them, said some racial words especially the cashier woman. "Get back to where you came from" she said.

Amazing delivery time and overall service, but personally I found the loaded fries smelling a bit unusual (vinegary like) and some of them were significantly undercooked (as they are quite chunky) so I couldn’t eat those. The chicken burger was very good, good balance of spices.

Even though the ambiance looks nice everything else was awful. The chicken was burnt. The chips were smelling like fish. They had an awful sauce in the wrap. It was something like mayo, but much more greaser than it. Do not recommend it will never come back again.

Has to be the worst big John’s I’ve been to. Hardly any salad the doner was externally dry and old. Hardly any sauce was given 1 packet of ketchup and mayo no chilli sauce. My stomach has now started to hurt after trying to give this place a chance. Very differently to the Birmingham ones.

Went to Big John's after hearing big things about it! I wasn't impressed tbh. We ordered 2 spicy Chicken burgers, a 6" Asian Spicy Pizza, 4 Chicken grilled tenders and 6 spicy wings. The food presentation was on point 👍🏼 The spicy burgers weren't as good as expected as the bun was rubbery and too Chewy and overloaded with Mayonnaise, the pizza was okay but bland, wings were too oily and overcooked as the batter had a slight burnt taste although the chicken grilled tenders were excellent! Prices were reasonable. The service was excellent by the shop manager but we had to ask for the music volume to be reduced. Overall the place was kept in a clean state but the food disappointed us as this is the main reason why we went of course. Give it a try although I certainly won't be going again.

45 plus minutes late, had to ring them and then they said be there in 6 minutes nope so late, won’t be ordering from there again very disappointed and the timer would let me set kept going back to 5 minutes when I was selecting the correct time food was tasteless

As a regular customer, I would say that you changed the wings recipe. It used to be fried now It is more like peri peri chicken. I prefer if you give me the option between fried and peri peri. Otherwise, the food is amazing as usual and thank you so much for this treat.

The place is usually dirty, could they at least clean the tables and floor regularly? Think that there is no bathroom at this establishment. The pizza is really good, but they barely put any meat toppings on there, the chilli is spot on. The chicken loaded fries and 'cheap chicken' options are so bad and bland, it is not worth the money due to the quality. Drinks are overpriced for what they are.

The food here was amazing, ordered a pizza burger and a wrap not a crumb went to waste.

What a joke !! Was told chicken and chips twice and donner kebab would be 20mins, ok, 40mins later still waiting, by this time I was ready to leave as really frustrated.when it was finally ready, Didn’t ask if wanted salt and vinegar, didn’t ask what was wanted on kebab, just covered it with sauce which again wasn’t asked if I wanted this !! Chicken was dry like had been there all day. GIVE THIS PLACE A WIDE BERTH, NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY !!

Amazing service! My toddler was having a tantrum and they gave him an ice pole on the house which let us enjoy our meal, calmed my toddler down and then allowed my toddler to eat his dinner! Staff is really polite and very helpful, we got two pizzas and they were both full of toppings, usually a lot of places are stingy on their donner meat but my pizza was full and delicious! Our mocktails were delicious too, prices are very reasonable! Atmosphere is great too very lively and a lovely view of the main road! Brought some pizza home too. Will definitely be back :-)

I could not understand whether if the food was on the way or not as there was no tracking information. The chips and chicken was cold and the chilli sauce wasn’t really nice tasted really watery.

I was not happy with the loaded fries at all that is not a cheese sauce anymore its a mixture of other sauces poured ontop of the fries!
