Bella Mia in Ashfield

Visited with friends and was really looking forward to a real lasagne, as had enjoyed on many previous visits. Waited an age for it to be cooked, the presentation was not good, not even served with any salad garnish and the meat was non existent. They gave us some free olives as an apology for the wait (only a couple of other diners as we went early doors) but won’t ever order lasagne there again!

Found this place by chance while passing through and v pleased we did. Tasty food and wine and prompt, polite service. If you're a limoncello fan, do try the pudding with frozen limoncello, soft cheese, lemon ice cream, amaretto biscuit and sauce, mmm! Our plans had to change, unfortunately, so missed eating there the following night. Would certainly revisit if in area again.

Having had several family and couples meals in here for years now , we were extremely disappointed with our last visit . Had our meal then sat in the bar afterwards for a drink . There was an extremely LOUD man in there with his partner shouting not talking non stop We couldn’t enjoy relaxing whatsoever We had spent £100 in there and just wanted a quiet drink We were there for half hour and the shouting didn’t stop My partner asked the question “ do you ever stop shouting mate “ To which he actually stopped Only to follow it up with abuse The staff where even standing up for him saying he’s there favourite customer I pointed out that we were regulars and some meals there we have over 20 at a table spending a lot of money They again said yes but he’s lovely I said well I’ve managed pubs restaurants etc and if I had a customer like that I would be asking them to leave especially as he wasn’t dining just drinking . The manager came to us snd offered us £10 gift voucher off next meal we told him no thank you it wasn’t about money it’s about the experience that was just completely ruined by this customer . It’s such a shame as we used this restaurant a lot but we havent been in since Since it’s changed ownership it’s gone downhill massively Surely one loud /drunk customer shouldn’t take priority over other paying customers Obviously not

Quite disappointing for the price. The restaurant was empty, which was already a red sign after seeing other restaurants around the area full. The two waitresses were nice and took our food order nice and politely. The quantity of food was quite big but the quality was very poor. The Fritto Misto, fried fish, calamry and prawns was bitter! I didn't eat much of it as being fish it didn't taste right. I had Farfalle with salmon and prawn, the plate was huge but the where hardly any prawns, and those that I found where extra tiny. The smoked salmon was ok but the sauce didn't taste right. I hoped the dessert would be nice, Limoncello ice-cream, but it wasn't that good. Typical prebought, from container into plate. It was also supposed to have meringue on it but they put an amaretti biscuit instead. Something that also brough the whole admosphere down was the music, there was maybe 3 or 4 Italian songs, then we had some random techno, and then Spanish reggaeton. Definitely not giving a good admosphere to eat in.

Took my husband for a meal at the Bella Mia tonight to celebrate his birthday. We were regular visitors up until the pandemic and had not been since March 2020. However, we were seated almost immediately. My husband ordered a Peroni beer whilst we looked at the menu. First thing we noticed was that the large leather bound menus had been replaced by a piece of folded cardboard which was not in a good condition. We both order the Calamari with rocket and a garlic dip. The rocket looked as if it had been left our for a considerable time in a warm place because it had wilted. The Calamari was over cooked and very chewy. Then my husband ordered a lasagne which he said was good, but I ordered Linguini ai Gamberetti which but the prawns were very small and rubbery. The pasta was in a tomato sauce but there was not enough of it. Overall a very disappointing evening. We were offered a discount of our bill, which we accepted, but the additional discount offered from our next meal will not be collected. This is so disappointing as we had been enjoying meals at the Bella Mia for a number of years and had taken relatives, colleagues and visitors on numerous occasions.

First family visit here. Very sad evening. Nice people, poor food unfortunately. The ribeye was like boot leather, I'd guess it wasn't ribeye. Also forgot items I'd ordered and never came back to our table to check if everything was OK.

Wouldn’t rate at all, we thought we would give them a second chance after getting food orders and ignoring food allergies, rang to book a table and the they never returned my call to confirm the table!!!!

First time visitors. Friendly welcoming atmosphere. Huge menu. Very tasty food big portions. Good value. Great service. Will visit again highly recommended. A lovely touch with the thank you chocolate with your bill.

We visit Bella Mia a couple of times a year and come here for special occasions; today we visited for my mother in law's 60th Birthday. The food was, as usual, delicious - sadly, the service was really poor. The waiting staff seemed so miserable! Not one of them cracked a smile, or came over to ask how the food was. They brought us dessert menus but then never came to take our order, so we decided to leave it and eventually asked for the bill. This came straight away but they never came back to take our payment (only about 6 tables in, so not like they were run off their feet!) so in the end we went up to pay and left, disappointed. It was also freezing cold in there - we ate our food in our coats! It's always been great in the past, so this was a real disappointment. The staff clearly didn't want to be there and they showed it. If you don't like customer service, choose a different career?

Steaks and salad. Desserts. House wine all all excellent. We don’t live near Nottingham and found this place due to trip advisor as was working up here. Fillet steaks cooked beautifully rare. Busy place. Good ambience. Wish they were closer. Pizzas look delicious.

Not sure how they can justify charging £17 each for the lamb shank - it should seriously be taken off the menu. We ordered two and both came out so tough we could hardly cut the meat off the bone. Also very fatty and a slimy texture to the meat which was totally disgusting. I have no idea how the chef prepares this dish but the meat must have been pre-cooked, chilled and reheated to order. Certainly wasn’t freshly slow cooked that day - which is what I’d expect for that price! Needless to say we didn’t pay for this part of the meal after telling the server. I was actually sick after getting home after this excuse for a ‘meal’ - something that hasn’t happened to me in a very long time. Will not return.

Visited Saturday night for dinner, nice warm welcome by staff, good pre meal bar/lounge, excellent service, shown to table on time, good waiter service, order taken promptly. Food hot and tasty, no issues. Sensible prices, no silly service charges, just common sense. Well done staff, you were great, return soon!

We were recommended this Italian restaurant by a friend who said the food was amazing and it did not disappoint. Margaret, our hostess, was lovely and the restaurant was very accommodating when I asked for a different option on a pasta dish. The food was absolutely delicious and we will certainly be visiting again with the family.

Service very slow - took over an hour for food to come. Starters were not worth the price, very small yet expensive. Waiting staff quite hostile. Limited menu is very limited. We have been to Bella Mia for lunch today and as usual it was First Class. Yes there is a limited menu because of vivid but if you like good tasty Italian food in good quality comfortable surroundings (not your usual chain) and excellent service, then this is the place to go. Christina

My husband and Idecided to treat ourselves to a meal out after being locked down for 3 months. The food was as nice as ever but a little disappointed with the limited choice of menu. There was no tiramisu on the dessert menu which we found odd in an Italian restaurant. We felt safe eating there and will return.

We had a lunchtime party for around 47 friends. We were given a choice of menu and it appeared the only problem was with people who had forgotten what they ordered. Food was delicious and well presented, excellent!

Visited Bella Mia for the first time in years, although on a Sunday evening. The place was virtually empty, two men serving, they didn’t seem overly bothered or friendly. The place was clean and nicely decorated. Food was ok, had a starter £5.95 not really good value, pasta main course looked a little dry until I moved it around the dish, it was pleasant, the tiramisu was basic and expected more from allegedly being homemade. The best part of the meal was the freshly made garlic bread with cheese it was lovely. So for a scheduled visit for two eating a starter and main and a sweet with two glasses of wine cost £65, way too expensive for the meal we was given, but the surroundings was very nice.I think it will be a good few years again until we may call again.

Grazie Bella Mia for great food, charming staff, lovely ambience. A great restaurant to go to for a chill out with friends, a romantic evening with the loved one, or a full blown special occasion celebration.

We returned because we very very impressed after two visits there. It was mistake. Yesterday was very windy and cold evening . We get first table next to the main door. Cold air came directly to me so I put my winter coat on me but nobody noticed it. I sat there like in the fast food bar. We ordered starters and thanks God we did it because we were waiting for main course 1.5h hours. After one hour my daughter asked a waiter what's going on with our main course and he reply ,, it's on the way" .( no apologies ). Well.. it was on the way another 30 minutes. It was not good experience this time so I will avoid this place.

The best Italian i aver had.staff floor are so active and the food was fresh and pipping hot. I will return for sure .grazie Bella mia for a fantastic night

This is a true undiscovered gem. The staff are helpful, polite, and unobtrusive. The food is freshly cooked and very tasty - the steak is out of this world! Very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend people giving this lovely restaurant a go. Ample parking.

The food here is fairly standard fodder and service very slow. There appears to be little attention paid to customer service. Some staff are very brusque to the point of being rude. Shuts very early and staff often hang around with their coats on clearly waiting for customers to leave. Music may be turned off early. Lacking in atmosphere. Expensive. Would not return.

We visited with a group on an evening. The restaurant was quite busy and it meant that service was slow. It could have been quicker with more table staff.Staff were polite and the menu was varied, but the quality of the food needed to be improved. We had to send the risotto back and the tuna was overcooked and smothered in a sauce.The restaurant could be hugely successful if it gave more attention to quality.

We returned because of our experience some years back when living locally -it was of a high standard. Yesterday service, wait times, food quality were poor. Something's changed. Risotto tasteless, tuna tough, pizza bases seemed standard bought-in, one lacked chillis as per menu & cold ones brought to table on pointing out fault. Appears from other reviews there are wildly varying standards. Hope they return to quality & consistency

Myself and sister along with our partners have been coming to the restaurant for occasions over the past 2 years. I can honestly say the food is delicious, the flavours and the freshness make it so tasty. Everybody is Italian (which makes me think that’s why it tastes so good), and really friendly. We’ve been for birthdays and celebrations and it’s always been a great atmosphere. I can’t fault the staff or food. The portions are huge and filling, it can be pricey but it is really worth it. Highly recommend.

The signs that the place was almost empty on Mad Friday should have been a warning to how poor this place is.

We ate at Bella Mia Hucknall with friends we also ate here one year ago... returned because the food is excellent...however we felt exactly the same about the following things....not a very warm building. ...staff over attentive when you first arrive. ..then it lapses terribly....we had 2 drinks each ...all glasses stayed on the table empty ..we then had coffee ...those glasses and our sweets plates all left on the table..after we left. Tried to get the waiters attention 7 times to pay the bill....if you wish to eat here...dress in warm clothing ..expect an excellent meal...Don't expect waiters to be attentive it won't happen!! Maybe it's because it's mid week. ...but if they had been more attentive and cleared the table they would have been given a good tip....!!

We came for family lunch without booking but we had very warm welcome from the staff. A young tall dark hair lad show us the table and his colleague give us the manu and explained in a very polite and professional way that they dont do special in december time but we was very happy with the menu choices. It was great food and great service from the 2 guy’s and definitely will be back again. It was very nice meal and service.

Visited Saturday night, venue well busy, lovely warm welcome from Bobby and Michelle, great guest lounge for pre and post meal drinks, good selection of lagers and beers, pleasant staff and service, we were shown to a nice table, competent service from Olsi, great friendly waiter, knew his stuff, good wine list, liked the informal but polite and professional attitude of all the staff. Smoked salmon starter with various pasta dishes for mains. Roomy and spacious restaurant, plenty of room between tables (a plus for me), no negatives, attentive staff throughout. Visited Bella Mia again last night (Sat 7th September) after not being there for at least a couple of years and the standard of food and service is still very good. I had the linguine gambretti and it was excellent. The prices are really reasonable for a restaurant of this quality.There is a large car park and if I have any criticism at all (and it's purely personal), the light levels are a bit low at the tables and I found it difficult to read the menu but that will not stop me going back there again

We went to Bella Mia for Sunday lunch with a difference. The place was quiet but service was excellent and food was delicious. The meat calzone was enormous and well worth the price. Other meals ordered were also delicious and well cooked. The venue is accessible with a large car park. Inside the tables are spaciously placed leaving plenty of room to move between. A lounge is available if waiting for friends or having a drink after your meal. Prices are slightly higher than we would normally pay but well worth it. This is our second visit and won’t be our last!

Top place tremendous service and food excellent can be expensive especially for drinks food prices excellent possibly doesn't promote its garden areas as these are exceptional especially in summer where family's could have a great time if drink prices were more competitive.

Great welcome and service. Took my 4 1/2year old Grand daughter . She loves the ravioli ( which I ordered) and I loved the carbonara ( that she ordered ) . Both were tasty , added salad and garlic bread. A relaxed meal well presented. She managed an ice cream , I had a delicious Expresso. Good wine list and juices for drivers and younger customers .

What a lovely meal in a lovely restaurant atmosphere 😄 My carbonara pasta dish and pudding was fantastic. This is the third time I have visited the restaurant over a couple of years. I look forward to visiting again in the future.

Lovely restaurant that we visited by chance. The early bird menu is great value for money. One of the tastiest plates of pasta I’ve had in a long time. The king prawn linguine was delicious!! The serving staff are lovely. Will definitely visit again.

Had a meal here last night the starter,garlic mushrooms pancheta home made bread. Mushrooms bland no pancheta to be seen bread dry. Main. fillet steak perfect but served with 5 lumps of potato they called chips (potato earthe) with a leaf of lettuce 1 slice of tomato and a jug of cold sauce they called stilton no condiments offered, at the price very disappointing would not recommend or return.

Visited Bella Mia on the 20/04/2019 service was very poor and we had to wait a long amount of time before we got served for drinks and food and the restaurant wasn’t that busy. When we finally got served the waiter got our food order wrong and meals where very poor. All in all female waitresses called Caroline couldn’t help us enough and was very understanding when we explained that we wasn’t happy with quality of service and taste of our meals.she kindly said she would report back to the chef so he knew for the future

We were in Hucknall and decided to try this restaurant while passing by . On entering with my wife and newborn baby we were welcomed and seated in a nice part of the restaurant.As it was 4pm we decided to try the early bird menu , 3 courses for £16.95.

We were in the area for a day or two and not sure where to eat. We didn’t book (a Friday night) but were pleased to get a table for two. Quick efficient service. Fairly good choice on menu. My partner had a seafood pasta dish for the main. I (now regret) ordered a pizza. The pasta dish was ‘excellent ‘. As for the pizza- honestly the worst pizza I’ve had in my life. The base was extremely soggy apart from the edges. I did mention this to the waiter when he asked if it was ok, (he obviously saw that I hardly ate any of it). I’ll put it down to experience as we would go there again and give it a second chance but I’d order differently.

Went as a party of 10 on Saturday night. No proper welcome from staff . We ordered our food and more drinks from the miserable waiter who clearly didn’t want to be there ! (Or us for that matter ) it took 10 mins for him to come back and tell us the mixers we ordered wasn’t available and I had to ask twice for table water .All the meals came fairly quick except mine . Another 10 minuets from everyone else on the table receiving theirs and the waiters serving 2 other tables that they remembers mine . I had linguine ai gamberetti , it had about 8 prawns in a tomato sauce no garnish either , nothing special for £13.95 ! First time there for most of our party and all were disappointed from the taste of the food , service and rudeness from the waiter ! We Will not be rushing back in a hurry it’s not the true Italian friendliness that we’ve become accustomed to elsewhere .

This is a lovely restaurant, looks nice and has friendly staff. However, the playlist is so random it's unreal. We went in the first weekend of February and the music included Christmas songs, Ibiza trance music and 90s pop. So weird.

I've eaten here twice since moving to nottingham and the food has been consistently good, the restaturant itself is very nice, it's big inside but long and windy so accoustics aren't bad. Always served with a smile I'll definitely be going back.

We attended Bella Mia for our Christmas dinner as a familyof13adults and 1 child of 17 months.The atmosphere as we entered was good the food awful,we paid £70 each and went home hungry mince pie and a coffee not even offered, it was awful and feel if these restaurants are going to cash in on our Xmas tradition they should have some cookery lessons.Dissappointedl

Went here last night with the in laws and had a lovely meal. The sides / starters were very tastey and delightful. Mains didn't dissapoint, my calzone was huge, amazing and the meats gave such depth of flavour I was so impressed. It was all going so well until the waiter started to feel a bit abrupt especially when it came to settling the bill.

Clean , attractive well presented ,food very good and staff very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.

We were a party of 14, age range 21 to 84, all with different tastes but everyone had a very nice meal with excellent service from attentive staff. Very highly recommended and good value as well.

We visited this restaurant while I was visiting Hucknall from London. My sister and husband together with two neighbours. The had been several times before. The restaurant is large, well finished inside with attractive furnishings and surroundings. The staff were helpful, professional and friendly. However the food was a bit disappointing. I had the bruschetta. The bread was hard and just seemed stale, rather than nicely toasted or charred. And, more unpleasant, there was an excessive use of a thick balsamic dressing on this and on the salad garnish with the main meal. It's not that I'm averse to balsamic vinegar - within reason, but it was liberally spread over the salad, used as a decoration on the plate and simply overpowered every other flavour on the plate. What's wrong with some simple, high-quality olive oil? Try eating it. I had a good ribeye steak, but the balsamic again spoilt it somewhat for me.

The premises are clean and modern. It's quite a big restaurant but designed well to feel more intimate. It has a large car park too. It was really busy the Saturday night we visited. There was a bubbly atmosphere and staff, although incredibly busy, were friendly and attentive. We had an excellent meal - the tiramisu was lovely. We travelled some distance to try this restaurant but will definitely come again.

Me and my husband visited and we were served by the most amazing staff,we were sat out the way which was nice and romantic. Food was fabulous,we even stayed for a few more drinks in the bar area after 🍷

Had a lovely meal with the best service possible again from Lola. Steak cooked perfectly and all the pasta dishes were beautiful. Good value offer on the steaks with wine. Will be returning again.....on Saturday. See you all again and thank you very much.

Visited with some friends on a sunny evening. Booked a table beforehand but didn’t need to as seemed to be a lot of free tables.

The food is really good here however it isn’t the BEST in the near vicinity. I have been more than once and can say I would recommend anyone to go for a very nice meal!

6 if us went for a family celebration meal. The service throughout the meal was attentive but not in your face . Perfect I would say. The food was fantastic, everybody enjoyed their meal without complaint. They bought out a sweet with a lit candle for the birthday celebration. The surroundings was clean and well looked after. It’s isn’t cheap, but it was great value for money with what you ate and drank . Great night thank you.

Bella Mia boasts a welcoming cosey decor with very warm friendly staff. The food is very good with well sized portions I have been several times before and will continue to return in the future. If you love Italian food you need to pay a visit.

I booked this restaurant for a family celebration for 27 people. We booked the menu options in advance. Considering the number of people each course was delivered promptly without any mix ups. The food was delicious and everyone was very complimentary about the service, restaurant and food. Thank you also to Lola who was extremely helpful in organising the event and was able to provide menu options for the range of special requirements for our group including gluten free, lactose free, vegetarian and vegan preferences! Thank you again to all the staff at Bella Mia.

Lovely authentic Italian food, well cooked and well presented, good atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

We went there with family on my birthday. Place very beautiful decoration.staff are friendly, food very nice presentation. Also dessert was lovely.test of food are average.overall are nice.will recommend to friends and family.
