I want to echo the other reviews recently made about the Bay of Bengal, do yourselves a favour and choose another restaurant to save yourself from a terrible experience. Me and my family have been going to tenby for the best part of 30 years, and this is the first place to of ever made us feel really unwelcome. We found the staff really rude and unaccommodating, it literally felt like they couldn’t be bothered serving us. The food was bland and tasteless and is just a massive rip off! Hopefully all of the staff get given the boot and new owners come in and bring back the old Bay of Bengal everyone used to love.

To say we was disappointed with the food is an understatement!!! We are from Birmingham, so we know what a great curry should taste like. It was just as well we collected it…otherwise I would be demanding my money back. Chicken dansak, was ok. But the Lamb Rogan Josh was horrible. Flavourless with chewy lamb and large pool of oil on top (that also leaked in the bag) I’ve had much better. I feel like the flavour is dialled down to maybe suit local tastes, but not authentic at all. Also CASH ONLY…REALLY!!!! Also just read the review from the family about having MEAT in a VEGETARIAN DISH!!!! If I’m in the area again, I’ll give this a miss.

Terrible Experience at Bay of Bengal, Tenby Our visit to Bay of Bengal was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. We went expecting good Indian food, but what we got was bland and completely flavorless. Being familiar with authentic Indian cuisine, it was really disappointing to find that the food didn’t taste like Indian food at all. However, the worst part of our meal was what happened to my sister. She’s a strict vegetarian, and when we asked the manager if they could accommodate her, he assured us that they could prepare a vegetarian dish. Imagine our horror when we discovered meat in the food they served her! She was devastated after accidentally eating it. When we called the manager over, he didn’t even seem sorry and acted like this was a common mistake. His lack of care and professionalism was shocking. This isn’t just about bad food—this was a complete failure on their part to respect a customer’s dietary preferences. My sister was physically ill after the experience, and we will never return. If you have dietary restrictions or are looking for authentic Indian food, avoid this place at all costs.

We visited this restaurant today while we were visiting Tenby and what a disastrous decision to have a meal there! We asked the manager before getting a table we need vegetarian options. And we ordered Vegetarian paneer Bombay curry, AND IT HAD MEAT in it!! My wife who have never had any meat in her life was traumatised would not have expected this of a restaurant in UK. The manager and staff were apologetic but casual about it. And on top of that they don’t give you a proper bill and its cash only place that we did not know. We transferred the bill to someone’s personal account. We had really bad experience on our vacation. Will be very careful of eating out in future. NOT SAFE FOR VEGETARIANS!!

I had a deeply disappointing and distressing experience at Bay of Bengal in Tenby while visiting with my family. As an Indian, I was looking forward to enjoying authentic Indian cuisine, but what we received was far from that. The food was completely tasteless and lacked the rich flavors that Indian food is known for. It didn’t taste authentic at all. What made the situation even worse was what happened with my sister-in-law, who is a strict vegetarian. We specifically asked the manager if they had vegetarian options, and he assured us they could prepare something vegetarian. However, when they served us a paneer dish, it contained meat! My sister-in-law unknowingly ate it and was horrified when she realized. She started crying immediately. This was an absolute shock for her, and when we called the manager, his reaction was incredibly unprofessional and unacceptable. He casually took the dish back and didn’t seem apologetic at all, as if this was something that happens regularly. It was clear he didn’t take the situation seriously. As a result, my sister-in-law became physically ill and has been vomiting since we returned home. This restaurant needs to be ashamed of itself for such negligence. Mixing up vegetarian food with meat is not only unprofessional but deeply disrespectful to someone’s beliefs and dietary preferences. I strongly advise against dining here, especially if you’re looking for authentic Indian food or if you have specific dietary needs. This was one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had.

We visited this restaurant as a group of four, with two of us being vegetarian. We requested the manager to substitute a non-vegetarian item with paneer, to which he agreed. However, when the food arrived, we found pieces of meat in the curry. This was deeply upsetting, especially as it goes against our religious beliefs. I have never eaten meat in my life, and the situation was handled very poorly. I even asked the waiter when the food was served if it was vegetarian, and he assured me it was. When we complained, the dish was quickly taken away without any proper explanation or apology. The staff and manager were extremely dismissive and lenient about the whole situation. Had they informed us beforehand, we wouldn’t have dined there at all. As for the food itself, it was quite disappointing. Indian food should not taste overly sweet and bright red like the curry we were served. I cook every day at home, and I can confidently say the food here is a 1/5 in terms of taste. Regret visiting and eating here. Would not recommend.

This is by far one of the cheapest and best value for money restaurants in Tenby especially if you like curry . I’ve visited here every time I’ve holidayed in Tenby ! The restaurant has a fabulous outside dining ( limited , but well worth booking ) area where the views of the harbour are amazing . Obviously weather permitted . The menu is wide and varied , Staff are welcoming and friendly . It isn’t licensed so take your own booze . The only pitfall is that it’s cash only .. Not a big problem but .. When paying my bill I was told that they had “ no change “ ? Weird as they are cash only ?? 🤷♀️ And when you are expecting quite a bit of change this can be of issue ! Now.. don’t get me wrong I would happily of given a tip … but I think it’s down to the customer to tip what they think appropriate .. seemed a bit cheeky that considering they are cash only that they couldn’t give me my change ! For me , this ruined my visit as I felt that they didn’t want to give me my change . Food though was lovely , and would recommend and will visit again . Just a heads up guys .

The restaurant has an excellent position with many tables inside and outside having harbour, sea views. Be aware there’s no alcohol license so take your own or buy from one of the many local shops. You also have to pay with cash as cards aren’t accepted and there is an ATM just over the road if you forget. Fortunately the food is excellent so slight inconvenience’s are soon forgotten. All our meals were delicious and full off flavour clearly cooked by a competent chef. We will definitely return.

The service we got from the lads was next to zero, they almost seemed like they didn’t see this many people together in a gathering or seating like this in their whole entire life! The bill was close to £300 Food was 0/10 Serving 0/10 Customer service -2/10 Oh and they didn’t have half of the stuff they listed on the menu! Every restaurant has a washroom but still provide with sanitizers/wipes. Or a little treat of a chocolate for adults but in this place we took our children they didn’t even get a goodbye after the meal! Your better off sticking to fish and chips! Atleast you will be full and not have wasted all that money!

I just dined at this place today, and it was an incredibly disappointing experience. The food quality was abysmal, we were served what seemed like chili powder mixed with hot water, passed off as curry, and the so-called 'biryani' was nothing more than colored rice. On top of that, they charge an extra £5 for seating near the window, which is a blatant rip-off. The pricing was outrageous for the subpar food and service we received. Taking my friends to this place was a huge mistake. It's the worst dining experience I've ever had. Save your time and money, avoid this place at all costs

Booked down wrong time. Food was good but was so little of it especially for the high price. Didn’t realise they didn’t do alcohol or that we had to pay by cash. Had to order more rice and there was little meat in the dishes. The wife’s meal was super spicy that it was barely edible. The Madras was listed 2 chilli’s hot and not supposed to be super hot. Overall we came away very disappointed and that’s the first time we have ever had curry meals and been disappointed.

Really wanted to like this place, but we felt that both our main courses were lacking in flavor! The appetizers were great (poppadom & onion bhajee, not pictured), but the mains (salmon tikka tikka and paneer shashlik) tasted so mild and lacked essentially any spices or flavors, even any salt or seasoning. The pilau rice and garlic naan were not bad, and the service felt very average as well. Wouldn’t go back, except for the nice views of Tenby harbor out the windows

It would be easy to pass by this unassuming restaurant on Crackwell Street which would be a shame because it has great views and a cozy ambience. I liked too that it’s BYB. My husband had the chicken madras curry which I preferred to my tikka masala (too sweet for my taste buds), but sharing both meals made for a really good combination. The garlic naan was delicious but the tiny portion of rice was not good value, in my opinion. I would go back, most definitely. They have an extensive menu which I would enjoy working through.

Well.. Sad to post this having visited several times over the years and really enjoyed it... Tonight was not that experience ☹️ Booked table for 8pm..arrived and ignored by front of house staff that seemed to have forgotten how to smile and say hello and welcome...very odd... Not sure when the mandatory Poppadoms arrived.. Mint, Onion and Mango chukney dips... All good 👍 asked if they had any lime pickle... No. Had 3 dips between 4 people, which didn't last long.. Asked for more dips... They forgot and had to ask again. The mains eventually turned up at 9.30.. The table behind us that turned up a little after us hadn't received their starters... We wished them the best of luck as we left! We were very close to walking out with the wait for the mains.. When it turned up, one of the dry chicken dishes was exactly that.. Dry.. My hot chicken dish was very mild and I suspect as one of us asked for their hot meal to be calmed down, they did that to my meal.. When it did turn up the temperature was not hot so think it may have been on the pass for a while which sums up the servicd er received. When feedback was given politely, as it wasn't going to spoil our night, the response was they had only opened the week before and it was busy... 🤷 No adjustments were made to the bill and we vote with our feet.. Big shame as I have very happy memories, but sadly standards and attitudes leave a lot to be desired.

We booked the Bay of Bengal for my wife's birthday meal, when we booked we asked for 6.30pm and an outside table, they told us they can't guarantee the outside tables on a weekend, which is fair enough. We arrived just before 6.30 and as we were early, we got our outside table for 4, we had taken our own alcohol as its BYOB, we were asked for our order, we asked if we could just order some poppadoms and chutneys while we decided our main meals, but, we were told we had to order everything together. We ordered the poppadoms, chutneys and 4 main meals with 1 chips, 2 portions of rice and 2 x naan. When the food arrived the bowl of chips was tiny and tbe rice portions were just enough for 2, which was disappointing, as the rice is usually plentiful in most Indian restaurants, we had to order another rice bowl and a 2nd chips bowl, which was double the size of tbe 1st one..we complained about this and we were only charged for the one bowl. Overall the food was really good, but, we felt like we were rushed, as if they wanted us in and out , the was also no interaction with the waiters, not even asking how the meal was, our waiter didn't know what the different dishes were he served us. Would we go again, probably yes, as its a stunning location and the food is really good, we are also now fully aware of the portions.

Awful customer service. Substandard food that I’m pretty sure is microwaved. Couldn’t accommodate a change to the “specials” as wanted mushrooms instead of meat. Flat soft drinks poured out of bottles. Would recommend you spend your money on a microwave curry from Tesco express round the corner. The only thing going for it, is the lovely view.

Not too bad, food ok, portions a little small but sufficient.

Food was absolutely not worth the wait. We booked a table for 7:30, when we got there we had to wait 25 minutes to be seated only for another table who got seated after us to be served and dined first. The food took an hour to come and the naan was cold and not fresh. I would not go back.

Nice little restaurant in the heart of tenby. Lovely place to eat. Food was nice but very little you order rice you get a tiny tub, ask if the curry is on the bone as we didn't and ours was mostly bone and not alot of meat. Check your bills as some mistakes on ours where they tried overprinting, but it did get rectified

Visited Tenby/Wales from Birmingham last week. (The home of proper curries!) Usually cautious to eating curry outside of Brum but this place is spot on. Absolutely brilliant. Read some reviews about the owner being rude and they are correct. From how we were greeted and sat down in the first instance.. In fact I would go as far as to say that if I wasn’t really craving for a curry and not wanting to be turned around, he was extremely close to receiving a reaction from me to tone himself down. Although.. he did rectify this as time went on and later was actually quite pleasant chap. Told us the chef was from Birmingham hence the high standard. I think maybe he just struggles under pressure and busy times as the place is packed at all times. I won’t score the place down for this though as it’s spot on for its purpose, it wouldn’t be fair. Just maybe work on your service manners a little bit mate. Take a breath, smile, ensure people can order what they need to without running off. Cheers

Wouldn’t bother really… Average at best. Looks good and the menu is pretty good as well as the view of the bay but that’s about it. Food is ok but be prepared to wait….. Quite a few tables had orders missing or in our case they decided to skip our starters ordered. Other than that ok and they did take the order off the bill.

Tasty food and good service, a lot better than the local Indians we've had in London and not as pricey. A member of staff even ran after my husband after he forgot the rice. A big thank you for giving us a halal option our kids were missing their rice and curry.

After looking around the rest of Tenby for somewhere to eat we finally came across this restaurant and they accommodated us promptly for a large table last minute on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy however they still managed to fit us in and make us feel welcome. The food was amazing and the view of the beach was excellent! Can’t fault the service and definitely recommend this restaurant if you are looking for somewhere to eat in Tenby with a lovely view and fab food!

We had the best meal here. The food was fantastic, the portion sizes were good and it came out quickly. Please note though: it's a CASH ONLY restaurant and BYOB. So plan ahead.

The 2 stars are for the view and the view only. Visited this restaurant last week and I really couldn't have left more disappointed, the food was really ,really poor, I had Goan chicken and quite frankly it was about as far from a chicken Goan as you can get. It looked and tasted like a bowl of chicken in bisto gravy with some chillies and copious amounts of sugar added ,it really was disgusting . The manager was rude and didn't seem at all interested in any of the customers, we left over £50 worse off and will never return. Please heed my advice and spend your hard earned cash somewhere (anywhere) else.

Great food with excellent service from all the staff. Outstanding views with the option to sit outside on the terrace. Have used this restaurant for 23 years and still as good as ever.

A great meal, but at a price, not the most inexpensive feast in our recent trip to Tenby. The staff are great, the owner is a little dour. The decor and the ability to have sea view both from inside and on the outside balcony are fantastic. Be prepared CASH only and take your own alcohol, no corkage charge. Recommend booking.

This Indian restaurant has the best location. The views over the bay are stunning and as it’s bring your own booze the bill wasn’t too bad at all. Food was average and the service from one waiter was appalling, he clearly doesn’t like people so...

We had a takeaway while on holiday, we have used this place before and found it expensive but good. This time was shocking. The Curry was watery, and chicken was chewy the naan was like a crispbread. Very disappointed and still very expensive!

This place has great views of Tenby harbour but the food doesn't match up. The menus offer the usual 'Indian' takeaway options (balti, korma, vindaloo etc) with the usual choice of meat or veg and a few 'chef's specials' but as the menus are laminated the vibe was very much greasy spoon rather than proper restaurant. The raita that came with the poppadoms was grey and possibly out of a bottle, the wrong food was delivered to 2 party members and one of the sides we ordered was unavailable but no-one came to tell us until we had asked several times where the additional item was. We also had to repeatedly ask for a jug of tap water. The chopped onions, lettuce and lemon garnishes had obviously been cut a very long time before and were starting to dry up and looked rather unappealing. The whole experience was rather disappointing and left us with a feeling that these guys are just here to make money from tourists and have given up caring about making it nice.
