What a lovely surprise I found in this place! I still can't believe I ate delicious acaraje and chopp zero grau in London! Just delicious, lovely atmosphere and staff are friendly and very Brazilian. I ordered the fish moqueca to take home and it was also absolutely delicious! Can't wait for the next visit! Thank you Marcia!

It's a small regional restaurant in Kilburn, hidden in a narrow street. I cannot say that it's worthy to travel distance to visit this place, but if you live in the area and you are looking for something different and authentic, walking distance from your home, give it a try. Food is tasty. Honestly it's not bad and ambience has an authentic Brazilian character. Overall, I was happy with the experience.

I come quite often from Croydon to this restaurant with my boyfriend, as he is Brazilian and finds there the most typical tastes of Brazilian food.

A small Brazilian restaurant just off Kilburn High Road. We arrived at 8 p.m. on a wet Tuesday evening but even then it was nearly full with the tables packed closely together, however we managed to get a cosy table in the corner after some people left. One advantage of being close to your fellow diners is that is can stimulate conversation with them, which in our case enhanced our experience. We enjoyed our cachaça and beer (essential accompaniments to Brazilian food, in my opinion), and the picanha (approximates to rump steak) was well prepared and produced quickly. I recommend accompanying it with rice and beans, and I also had salad for an extra 50p. Also try the farofa (toasted manioc flour) which is in bottles on the tables, as well as the hot chili

It's tichy inside, you will be sitting close to your fellow diners, but it has some outside spaces which looked nice. I've given it a very average review simply because as newbies I think the gals taking your order could of given some much needed advice to us. They were quite stony faced, not helpful and did not ask if we liked our food. The portions are enormous, too big for me really, so be prepared for a large plate of food. My son's order was not good, a sort of chicken pasta thing, which was quite runny and not nice. He left most of it, so a complete waste. The chips that came with it took up a main course plate again too much. The steak I had was nice but the sizzling looked better. We spent too much money and just didn't get the order right.

Had a lovely meal here yesterday as well as a very good experience. The Brazilians are kings of barbecues and this restaurant definitely proved it. Their courses were very big so skip on the starters and also ask for sauces with your grills otherwise the food could become dry even though it comes out very juicy and succulent. Definitely recommend this place. Tge look of the place is like a small cafe but don't let that put you off. Good Eating.

This used to be a regular spot for us and always served authentic, delicious and very reasonably priced food. The last two times we went however, the food was not great and we sensed they cut corners at every opportunity. The picanha which was always melt in the mouth and bursting with flavor is now a tough old steak, and the feijoada is tasteless and full of inedible fatty meats and tough bits. The decor and furnishings have always been basic and this is the only thing that has stayed the same. Such a shame. Bring back your old cook and manage to please!

I went to Barraco with some friends (It is my third visit). Saturday night, being obviously busy. We asked for a table for 4 people. They suggested to go to the back room with live music. We placed the order, mains and a bottle of wine. More than 50 minutes later we received our dinner, but we had already finished our bottle of wine. The food was really good as usual. When we ordered the bill, I saw that we had an extra 10% charge for live music. I refused to pay it because when they invited us to take a seat in the back room nobody informed us about that. Well, the waitress removed this from the bill.... but there was another 10% charge for the service. I refused to pay it because of the delay. I apologised with the waitress, who removed the extras without problems, and I asked to speak with the manager to explain them why I didn´t want to pay these extra charges. Then the guy who said was the manager (maybe in charge, a real good manager doesn´t let a complaint without an answer) ignored me, going to the till pretending to attend something important. I found this really disappointing.

We wanted to have some meet for dinner and this place looked good for it. We had cap of rump (picanha), Brazilian sliced beef (grilled special) and chicken breast with tomato and cheese (peito de frango). All tasted delicious, specially the picanha steak. However there were a couple of things which perhaps could be improvable:- My dish (Brazilian sliced beef) came with bread, however they forgot to bring it. After the second time I asked for it one of the waiters told me they run out of it and in exchange he offer me a side order. Appropriate counter offer but I didn't take it since I only wanted bread. I would have appreciated if I had been informed about the lack of bread earlier.- Since we make the order until we ordered was exactly 40 minutes. Not a problem if the food is good as it was.A positive surprise happened when we were paying. We were discounted one pound. I thing this was because they run out of cash or they did not want to mesh with coins (it was however a fiver note which needed to be exchanged by four pounds). It was funny and welcome nevertheless.

I was extremely disappointed and disgusted to see two diners with dogs sitting on their laps at the dinner table in an already crowded restaurant. I believe this practice is unhygienic and it has put me off Baracco. Dogs are animals and should not be at a dining table. If people want to allow that disgusting behaviour in their own home, that's fine but I don't think it's right for this practice to be forced on other people who are paying for their meal with parasites from the dogs floating around their food. Nasty disgusting behaviour.

Sorry, but as a native from Rio de Janeiro and being a carioca, this place should never, ever call itself after "barraco" ,or take pride on serving "boteco" food. Now....food was very salty and staff Was nice and friendly, as it is not their fault if food isn't tasty, after all.The owner should drop his attitude and be more friendly. It looks like he just doesn't care. Place is located on a former garage conversion and if you're brazilan, try something more original. The prawns and steak were incredible and there was live music ... Tucked away in a Kilburn back road this is s restaurant for recommendation and I would highly recommend it / outstanding

From the outside you may be skeptical just on the back of Kilburn high road. But please give this place a try. The steak is a very good cut and cooked to perfection. The rice and beans are a traditional accompaniment and the alcoholic beverages very very reasonably priced - £3.50 for a large glass of wine in London - service was great and all in a relaxed atmosphere. Don't give this place a miss.

Being a Brazilian gives me the right to say that this is one of the best Brazilian places in London. No such cliche as Rodizio or Churrasco, this is a proper Brazilian boteco (a small and casual bar for those wondering the meaning of the word) with cold beer, fresh and tasty food, good music and Brazilians :)You definitely have to try the feijoada and the moqueca, my favorites there!

This is really great Brazilian food - not churrasco cliché - good food. I had the bobó de camarâo and it was really flavorful, great texture. My friend had the moqueca de peixe and it was also very good. They also have coxinha congelada that you can take home to fry. I am eating it as I type this. It's perfect. And they have pão de queijo congelado too (currently in oven) or in a box so that you can take it home and make it. Guaraná, açaí na tigela, sinceramente, minha gente, não falta nada. Arrasou.

Having lived in London for over 10 years now, I have come across and tried dozens of Brazilian restaurants. However, Barraco is the only one that was able to capture myloyalty. The food tastes great. The atmosphere makes me feel as if I were at a restaurante back home. The price is really reasonable.Conversely, the service can be a little shabby sometimes and the location off the beaten track. All in all, Barraco is a great place to eat, especially for Brazilians and Brazilian food lovers.

I have driven past Barraco 100 times (during the afternoons) and never thought much of it. My son said we should give it a try and we did tonight. What a pleasant surprise. Everything absolutely perfect. We did not have a reservation and when we arrived the place was packed. The staff were very welcoming and made up a make shift table within seconds to accommodate us (it wasn't the best location, but really appreciated given the circumstances). I cannot say anything negative about Barraco. Staff 20/20, food 20/20, ambiance 20/20, value for money 20/20. I will definitely become a regular and recommend it to all my friends.

Great authentic Brazilian hidden away behind the main road. Great flavours and family size portions, nice cocktails and beers, even buy some Brazilian groceries. Perhaps it should remain a secret.

Hi everybodyWe Came to the barracao cafe to celebrate an exciting family event. At first when we came in, we felt like we were transferred directly to Brazil but as the time went on we discovered that our evening was not going to be something that we would like to remember. First of all the staff does not speak English and on top of that is very unfriendly which makes it impossible to communicate and understand what would be a recommended dish and what is the correct meat level preperation. This resulted in ordering tremendously flat and overcooked steaks. When we asked to replace the dish the waitress ignored us and avoided our requests to resolve it by replacing the burned steke into something else. Eventually after 30 minutes when the manager was willing to address our complaints, not only that he was complettly not understandable and refuse to fix his staff low level of service and communication but he also gat really mad.The bottom line -bad service and really bad food. Will never go back

Barraco Cafe deserves to be more popular than it is. Hidden down an unprepossessing and unpromising alley twixt Kilburn High Road and West End Lane, it is nigh on impossible to find and in my opinion, impossible not to love when you do. Decked out in rough and ready furniture with walls covered in Brazilian posters in both English and Portuguese, or in some cases, just Portuguese, it has the feel of having been lifted and transplanted straight from the streets of Sao Paulo. The extensive menu consists mainly of huge portions of fairly plainly but well-cooked meat, alongside Brazilian staples like feijoada. The food is averagely priced and tasty but not spectacular, but going to Barraco just for the food would be to miss the point of it. We go for the atmosphere. We go for the fact that most people there know each other and even those who don't can quickly be drawn into conversations about football or politics happening on a neighbouring table. Oh, and did I mention we go there for the very best caipirinhas this side of the Atlantic.

As a Brazilian I am always desperately looking for good Brazilian food in the UK. I was glad when I found Barraco few years ago as the food is usually pretty good. However, the owners of this restaurant can be very rude at times (though the waitresses are usually very nice). I attempted a visit to Barraco few weeks ago on a Sunday but was put off by the rudeness of one of the owners. I arrived at 12pm, when they were supposed to be open, and was met by one of the owners shouting at us to come back in 30-40 minutes as they were not ready yet. When I asked her about the opening hours, she said that the opening hours in their website is only a guideline!!! She was not apologetic at all and she seemed to be very irritated to have customers there, even trying to get rid of us when we said we were willing to wait. Another downside of this place is that the space is very small and although they have a big open area downstairs, they tend to shove customers in the upper part where you can barely reach your seat without having to ask a few people to move out of your way.

As a Brazilian in London, I have been a customer at Barraco café for more than 7 years. The reason for going back is the quality, which is excellent, and the food has that authentic Brazilian taste. Furthermore, the prices are very reasonable considering the size of the portions, the service is great and in addition, many traditional products are on sale. My favourite dishes are fried yam or cheese bread for starters, and for main course rump steak with rice beans, chips and salad. They also serve a range of Brazilian drinks of which I recommend the “caipirinhas”. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend.

The owner is really very friendly and so are the staff at this very interesting and authentic Brazilian Restaurant. There is a great selection of truly Brazilian dishes and I have never had one that disappointed me! The puddings are usually the same and some are some of the Brazilian favourites. There is cachaça drinks and guaraná as well as many types of exotic fruits juice made from frozen pulp. The prices are not high and the choices are plentiful. Barraco is my homesick haven in London and a place were I go alone or with friends to find a bit of Brazil abroad.

Lively atmosphere, great Brazilian crowd, authentic Brazilian comfort cooking (from moqueca and pao de queijo to suco de cupuacu) and decent service were spoilt by the unpleasantly loud duo playing the cheesiest cover version you can imagine. None of the songs were Brazilian, and included dreadful. jarring versions of 'Stand by Me' and 'Hotel California', and all were played at such a volume that conversation was almost impossible. Barraco needs classy, Brazilian musicians playing authentically Brazilian sounds. Check what's playing before you book....

I went for lunch this Sunday and by my surprise when I opened the door I saw a dog walking around the place which is not very hygienic for a restaurant. Then I ordered a pasteis portion of beef, cheese and heart of palm, they came oily and just beef and cheese, for main dish I ordered parmigiana beef, we asked well done, the beef came bleeding and lots of nerves and fat, probably only 40% of meat, when we complained the only answer we had was "isn't it? Never again!

Came here for lunch last Sunday and was really taken with this tiny place tucked away behind Kilburn High Road, which is hardly one of London's most salubrious locations by any stretch of the imagination. It couldn't be more authentic, apart from the weather of course - the staff and the other customers were all Brazilian and the atmosphere was just like one would imagine a backstreet cafe in Rio to be, The food was excellent. We had a mixed grill and a lovely piece of grilled fish to share between us. Everything was cooked to perfection and really tasty. Portions were huge and the bill was tiny - the perfect combination! Highly recommended.

Barraco is one of the restaurants I go over and over again. People are very receptive and friendly and the food is amazing! I was born in Rio de Janeiro and moved to London when I was a teenager and one of the things I miss is our food. I can say that Barraco is the best experience I've had, in London, of the food I love from Brazil. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone! I always take my friends there when we fancy eating some steak, their portions are very generous and my friends love it too. I will be coming back again soon!

Perhaps I'm biased. I came here with my Dad, who is Brazilian, and we had a really really really lovely evening. We started with the frog's legs, which would perhaps make most Brits squirm, but they should definitely be tried! Absolutely delicious, we both had t-bone steaks, and I had rice and beans. I was shocked to see some of these reviews talking about how inauthentic the food is! This is like what we have at home! (Aside from the t-bone steak of course!). Service was great and very quick. Will be nagging my Dad to take me whenever I visit him at work ;) Obrigada.

I'm brazilian and I've been to the restaurant last saturday with my husband and kid, enjoyed the food and yesterday decided to order a delivery, The owner of the place came to my house himself and instead of ringing the bell he tried to call my phone...After 5 minutes he had called I saw the missed call and went to answer the door..Straight away he started to shout on me in portuguese saying he has been there waiting for me for 30 minutes what was a lie!!! And said he had left his own business to come and deliver to me and called me a Clown!!! Palhaca ele disse!!! And he said the same at a voicemail he left me, and I also have it recorded in camera from the moment he arrived to the moment he left ...Anyway, So I asked him why didn't he ring the bell?! And he told me he din't know which flat number I lived...So I had to explain to him there are no flats here, this is a house and as obvious this is the bell ring...the other numbers are just to type my password to open the gate...So he is an idiot that lives in London and doesn't know the difference between a house and a block of flats and treats his customers like sheet...I am ashamed that are people from my own country that are So arrogant and impolite living here in this amazing country of very polite, honest and educated people, that can't even learn how they should behave after living here for decades...Don't recommend this place to anyone...brazilians or not!!!
