Bar Five in Pembrokeshire

Pork scratchings weren’t the best though had a nice bevvy on the balcony with a sea view. Not too bad for a swift drink……..

Such a lovely courtyard for drinks in the sun or a a balcony with stunning views looking out over the sea. Amazing Moira couldn't have been more accommodating and Mike can make a mean bloody mary. Would highly recommend a visit. We look forward to going back again.

We were visiting Fishguard on a long weekend and we stumbled upon Bar 5 - what a find!! Such a modern and well put together bar. We came back the following night, as the landlady, Moira was fantastic! Such a character and a credit to Fishguard. There's a lovely Beer Garden, and a Balcony with a fantastic view of the sea. There's a large selection of wine and champagne cocktails. Unfortunately, due to Covid they aren't doing food this year however I'm certain it would have been delicious if they had! Diolch Moira and Team - we'll be back!

We ordered a vegan Wellington for Xmas dinner, was our favourite dinner yet! The flavours with the gravy, Plus it wasn’t too filling to have with a roast! So delicious!

Brilliant venue for a Christmas Party, loved the stylish cellar restaurant. Mary and Andrew and their waiter were perfect hosts from start to finish and our two course meal was first class. Delicious mulled wine on entering, followed by a stuffed mushroom starter with crunchy shallots which was yummy, the smoked duck looked tasty as did the french onion soup with melted cheese on sour dough. My braised brisket, with creamy mash & it’s selection of vegetables were excellent, particularly the braised red cabbage and sprouts with stilton, perfect roasters & caramelised carrots and parsnips with exceptional gravy. Must get there more often in future.

Went here on Sunday 17th November, me, my wife, daughter and partner (vegans) and a baby. We had 2 vegan roast, and 2 beef brisket. Wonderful meals, freshly prepared and delicious choice of veg. Are we going again, 100%yes. In fact it was so good, we have orderd the vegan roast for Christmas!

So me and my partner got recommended bar 5 for a good Sunday lunch. I am vegan but my boyfriend loves his meat so it’s hard to find places that accommodate for the two of us. However the Sunday lunch here was amazing for both of us, there was plenty of veg and there was mash and roasties which is always good news. The vegan option was a mushroom encroute, lush pastry with mushrooms- this was delicious. They also made me vegan cauliflower cheese which was tasty and I was happy that my meal was as good as my partners because usually the meat options have more on their plate. The waitress was really friendly and smiley. We will defo be back to try their normal menu. I will 100% recommend to my friends and family. We left feeling nice and full, the price was also really good for what we had.

In the area for the evening, looking for somewhere to eat, and what an unexpected find. The dog and I were allowed onto the attractive balcony. Service prompt and warm. A fabulous fish-like deep-fried tofu burger with all sorts of interestingly-flavoured sauces — a really excellent vegan burger — and cauliflower roasted in sriracha and other complex, south-east Asian flavours. Perfect food— serious, sophisticated vegan cooking. A real delight.

We were recommended this place by the majority of people that live in Fishguard, which is in itself extremely positive. They were so correct, if you are a tech savi - they are so up to date with the latest technlogy- onto the important bits the food is incredible, delicious and the staff- well nothing is too much trouble! definitely service with a smile- and not a fake one- so important. Looking forward to returning to the amazing food and service soon

Had some food here and it was delicious. The flavours on all the dishes were amazing. The cost of food is really reasonable. Lovely setting with a great view. Brilliant bar and drink selection. Amazing service. Best place in Fishguard in my opinion.

Not your typical wine/cocktail bar as the name would suggest. Bar 5 is situated in Fishguard West Wales. Andrew (chef) Mary (bar/front of house) have built a fantastic place to enjoy a quiet drink taking in the view, or somewhere to get quality food at a very reasonable price. Whilst on a visit to Wales from Australia, my father-in-law suggested Bar 5 for a meal, the Indonesian curry Andrew made fresh was quite simply sublime, that combined with Mary’s hospitality made for a fantastic evening. Great food, great beer, and great hosts...what’s not to like. Take my advice...go there, you won’t regret it.

Cannot thank Andrew & Mary enough for their hospitality last night. 19 of us descended on them unannounced for an evening of fun. Their beer, cocktail and spirits collection was excellent, and all served in very cool surroundings. Absolute jewel in the crown of Fishguard.

Mary and Andrew were a lovely and friendly couple that offered a warm welcome. The food was exceptional and the bar had a certain indefinable soul or spirit that made you feel at home. A brilliant find for our first time in Fishguard!

Visited for a drink before a meal elsewhere. Had a warm welcome and enjoyed a cocktail whilst admiring the wonderful sea view. We asked 2 look at a menu as we thought we may have a meal another night. There did not seem much on the menu and I had read on here about some of the meals people had eaten. Maybe we just had a bar menu? Anyway next time we shall ask about the food when we have more time. I loved the ambience and def will be returning. Thank you for your hospitality.

So glad we stumbled upon this place in Fishguard. We felt so welcome the lovely young couple running the place so friendly and full of knowledge. Fantastic, food & drinks and what a view outside. Thanks you for a great evening and we shall be back if when we visit again

We visited Bar Five on our short visit to Fishguard. We had a lovely welcome and went straight to the balcony (What a view). We then ordered food and I can honestly say I have never tasted pork belly as good as that. We will be coming back to Fishguard next year and will definitely visit Bar Five.

Came in to meet up with my friends had such lovely serve fast and friendly drinks are just incredible and the food is just wow will definitely be coming back lovely place thank you again for having us

Loved the cauliflower- the taste was amazing. The cocktails are a wonderful infusion of different tastes. Based with a spectacular view on the balcony out to sea and Lower Fishguard. A beautiful place to enjoy. Something special.

Great service and amazing vegan seitan burger too! Plus lovely views from the terrace. Would definitely recommend for food and drinks if you’re visiting Fishguard 😊

Where does one go in West Wales on a Sunday evening for civilised drinks in beautiful surroundings? Well we chose (I acting as the bossy one to organise our group of friends) Bar 5 in Fishguard.

We have just spent the most beautiful weekend in Fishguard with friends, championed by Barfive. Wonderful views, incredible views and amazing service we'd recommend Barfive to anybody!

The couple who run this bar are delightful and so friendly. The bar has a lovely garden area and a balcony with fantastic views. They serve tapas type dishes which are just exquisite. The food is of such a high standard and is utterly devine. The chef knows his stuff and produces amazing food. I tasted the best belly pork I've ever eaten and the Welsh rarebit chips are something else. This place has the whole package and that's all down to couple running it. I can't wait to go back.

The food here tastes amazing, it's not a large menu but what they do have is faultless. Great value for money as well. The staff were really welcoming and friendly. Will definately go back next time we're in the area. Highly reccomend.

Recently moved to Fishguard and found Bar Five last night. Really enjoyed our meal and we will be back, great place and very interesting deco. Starting to love Fishguard..

Visited twice on our week stay in Fishguard and instantly loved it. My kind of bar - classy and friendly. I had an Ophir Gin with a chilli garnish and sat in the beautiful garden terrace on the first visit. A real sun trap. Andrew (owner) picked rosemary from the garden for the roast potatoes each table was then offered as complimentary. Second visit was with our friends we were staying with and we sat at the outside seating overlooking the harbour. Mary was exceedingly welcoming once again. A lovely couple who I hope will continue to succeed in their venture.

Loved everything about this place. Not the cheapest by any stretch, but the attention to detail on the cocktails was worth every penny, especially when you can sit on the bar outside and admire the view over the harbour of Lower Town. Locals Andrew and Mary have done an amazing job in the last 12 months months with this bar.....definitely worth at least one visit if you're in the area.

Haven’t been there in a while but I thought to write this review after being reminded about it by a friend. The food, staff and surrounding were all fantastic however the cherry on the cake was the owner. A tall, jolly Welshman named Micheal who made the experience a truly special one with his witty banter and conversation. Highly recommend!

Small but imaginative menu, beautifully presented and utterly delicious. Adapted the menu to feed two hungry vegans! Lovely view from the terrace too. Thoroughly recommended.

A warm welcome from Andrew and Mary are followed by exquisite cocktails but amazing blends. Subtle and beautifully mixed. The food was again skilfully brought to together into an explosion of tastes. With a mythical, magical view and sitting in tasteful surroundings it hit all the senses. Truly memorable experience.

Andrew and Mary always offer a warm welcome. Andrew cooks authentic food from different countries he has visited. I had vegetable paneer curry which was served with Bombay potatoes, rice and chapatti all homemade. It was excellent full of flavour. would highly recommend a visit. Always service with a smile.

I would have to say its the best bar with a view .its clean comfertable pleasent staff .lovely beer garden .

Andrew and Mary reopened Barfive at the end of May 2017 and have recently started doing small plates ( platiau bach) of food which are fantastic.

My crippled Mother and I visited Bar 5 last month and I must say it was simply a wonderful experience, enhanced by the owner - a tall smiling elderly gent who exuded warmth.You see, Mummy can't walk. This didn't stop the owner gently lifting her out of the wheelchair and placing her delicately in a window seat. He then kissed her forehead.Since the toothpaste incident Mummy is quite nervous in public places. Alas, our host - a most sympathetic fellow - recognised this. He crouched down beside her and promptly began to sing "What a Wonderful World".nI left Mother and went to the bar. I ordered a Pinot Grigio for me and a Snake Bite for Mummy. The barlady was most obliging and started laughing about my parent's choice of drink. I explained that since the Come Dine Withe altercation, this is now all she drinks. I smiled and left the bar. I noticed that the homely barlady 's laugh was getting louder. I sat down at the table. The owner was now tap dancing in front of Mummy. By now the lady behind the bar was laughing hysterically and rocking backwards and forwards. Our host explained her demeanour. "You see that behaviour. That's love my friend. Love for me. Love for Bar 5."Before we left, I decided to look out on the balcony. I mentioned to our host that the vista was most impressive. His mood changed dramatically. "What I do not own cannot be beautiful." With this the owner left. I believe he had some robotic vscuum cleaners to recharge. So that was our night in Bar Five. I recommend it most highly.

Lovely atmosphere in the bar with a great heated outdoor area. Wonderful welcome included complimentary hot nibbles! Reasonable prices and excellent service. Will definitely visit again

Bar 5 used to my favourite place in fishguard, dim lighting, lush cocktails, chilled atmosphere... I used to bring everyobe there... Unfortunately Saturday night me and some friends were highly disappointed to find no cocktails, glaringly bright lights and we couldn't hear ourselves think let alone hear eachother talk... not quite the relaxing drink we had hoped for after a meal next door so we headed off to a much more relaxed and quiet venue... maybe we're getting old but personally I much preferred it when it was a place to dress appropriately and enjoy a daiquiri over a chat with friends

Came in for a drink. Late on. She couldn't get us out quickly enough. No food available although we'd heard they were. Nice enough décor. Maybe it is a buzzy go to destination on any other night.

Great atmosphere full of people , landlord brought free snacks out during the evening . Comfortable surroundings and drinks were good value

Don't think Bar Five still serves food which is a great shame as was very good so worth checking before you go....drinks only.

Barfive is a fantastic bar to have a drink with friends. The cocktails are lovely, staff are friendly and the terrace is fantastic! Highly recommended

Completely pretentious bar with an extremely rude and arrogant owner, shame as Fishguard needs drinking venues that are not boarded up. I haven't met anyone who likes the man.

We had a very pleasant evening in Bar 5. The ambience, service and food were all first class. Menu has strong emphasis on pasta dishes and pizzas but we had chicken and pork, both of which were excellent. Prices are very reasonable. Would definitely recommend the restaurant and go back there myself.

Visited on a Sunday evening only one other couple dining. Staff were friendly and served us quickly. The food was tasty, hot and really fresh. We had hake goujons, lemon and garlic chicken, potatas braves, and king prawns in garlic. All very nice. Would recommend to any visitor to Fishguard.

Tapas' ish ...tasty food ...excellent cheese board and hake in tempura and calmari. Good service and a lovely view of the bay.

Very nice family birthday celebration. Pre meal drinks were taken on the veranda with a view to die for. Very friendly staff. Sunday lunch was a delight - not huge helpings but sufficient, very well presented and delicious. Would thoroughly recommend.

Popped in on a rainy Saturday and the food was a real surprise. Very fresh, and delicious. The hake ina tempura coriander batter was great, with chips and sun blush tomatoes. The calamari were also excellent and some of the best I have eaten.

We stopped off here during the AbberJazzz festival for a light meal between gigs. The special was half lobster but we went for a Tapas selection . The place seemed popular , that may be because there are views over the sea from the balcony area with an area to relax behind . We ate indoors and then finished our drinks in the less formal area near the exit.

Fantastic views over the bay at the back. Service was timely and good too. Just baulked at the prices, a bit.

We enjoyed a meal at Bar Five with friends last week comprising a party of five with one teenager. The restaurant has a lively upstairs eating area with a cool vibe but unfortunately we were on the lower floor which, whilst nicely decorated, is really the cellar and lacking in atmosphere. There are no fixed starters or mains but a varied menu from which you order a sharing table of tapas. We ordered prawns, meatballs, hams, chips and all were delicious. It was slightly on the pricey side at £130 including two bottles of wine and two desserts. However, the food was nicely presented and delicious. Overall I would recommend Bar Five for a special occasion meal out.

A very friendly and welcoming little watering hole, with very nice staff and a a great line in cocktails and Tapas. Very reasonably priced with comfortable surroundings and a nice terrace overlooking the harbour.

4 of us had some lunch here last week, thought the global tapas was an excellent idea, perfect for lunch, presentation of the food was excellent and the quality and taste also reached that level. good selection of wine and reasonably priced.We thought the food pricing was spot on.Surprised it was so quiet.....

The best in Fishguard. It seems that the only other restaurant in Fishguard is The Lounge (next door) which we felt was unnecessarily and therefore unjustifiably expensive. Bar 5, however, was excellent in all respects - beer, food (tapas) atmosphere, decor, etc.

We found Bar Five in Fishguard whilst on holiday. We wanted something more than the usual pub food and stumbled across the restaurant when other choices were fully booked. The staff were very welcoming (with a perfectly made G & T) and accommodated us at a downstairs table. We didn't realises that is was a tapas style restaurant but it suited us very well. We were a party with varying tastes, one veggie, 2 meat eaters and grandma with a very small appetite. We chose 6 dishes and shared them over a couple of glasses of wine each. They were all delicious and we were tempted into ordering a couple more. We particularly enjoyed the half lobster and the veggie sharing plate. We will be returning on our next trip to Fishguard.

We had a very good experience at Bar Five in Fishguard. The interior design is very nice and there's a terrace with a stunning view of the bay.The food is very good, too. You have to consider that we are talking about a sort of tapas bar. Portions are quite small, but very tasty. The wine list is good, but unfortunately the beer list fell short of my expectations.All in all, Bar Five is well worth a visit.

We called to Bar Five for a drink whilst enroute to Newport. Having heard we were without Accomodation, Natalie phoned around and after much effort found us somewhere to stay. Such helpful people. Many thanks!

Went here on the reccomendation of the taxi driver and we were very impressed!Lovely terrace on the rear of the bar with great views and a very nice terrace downstairs where we ate.Tapas was superb and very reasonably priced. would definitely reccomend and go back if ever in Fishguard again.

This is an amazingly well done bar. Very groovy. Very friendly staff. They offer good coffee, good tapas, good cocktails....it is almost too good to be in this small town. I hope the locals appreciate it and frequent it regularly!!

The best restaurant we have stayed in Pembrokshire. Very nice terrace and tapas style. Unfortunately only opens from Wednesday to Saturdays. It is definitely a nice place to relax, have a drink and something to eat.

Don't get me wrong. We had a lovely lunch here. Tapas (calamari and fish cakes) absolutely excellent. Very friendly service too. And we are delighted to see Bar five back in business again. It's just that we mourned the passing of the old barfive which never failed to disappoint and provided a wider (and regularly changing) menu. Their lunchtime soups were the equal of anything anywhere. I would challenge anyone to see the current decor as an improvement on the original. Still that was then, this is now. Fishguard needs a barfive and we wish the reincarnation all the best and will certainly be back. Warmly recommended.

We stumbled across this restaurant looking for somewhere decent to eat in Fishguard. What a gem! The setting is lovely with views out to sea from the terrace at the rear of the restaurant. We had a teenager and 10 year old and being a Tapas restaurant we initially thought we'd struggle to find something on the menu they would eat....how wrong we were! The food was superb and the kids loved it plus the prices were cheaper than the pub meals we'd previously been having. I would definitely recommend this restaurant

My partner and I visited this restaurant on Saturday evening while spending a weekend break in West Wales. We were impressed with the style of the place as soon as we entered and were warmly greeted by Kristina. Her friendliness was not reserved just for the initial greeting. She was delightful to my partner and I throughout the entire evening as was her sister Petra. They definitely know how to make their customers feel welcome and valued.We liked the tapas style menu and chose the spicy meat balls, triple cooked chips and the fish antipasti which was beautifully presented on a rectangular platter. The meatballs were of a very good quality and were served in a delicious spicy sauce. The food was very reasonably priced as was the bottle of Rioja we ordered.The restaurant has a delightful and quite large outdoor seating area covered with a huge parasol and also has a balcony upstairs with a beautiful view of the sea. We received excellent service from all members of staff and thoroughly enjoyed this dining experience. I know we're showing our age now but the music was right up our street too - Tamla Motown! We will definitely eat here again when we return to West wales for another weekend break. It's a gem!

The restauarant used to be on fish bur teh new owner changed to tapas. They do a really good job on that with fresh products and good affordable wines, Nice service too. Enjoy the view from the balcony
