Balti Night in Salford

This small but friendly restaurant has been taken over and renamed. Visited this evening with my son and have to say that the restaurant was clean, has had a revamp during lockdown and change of owner. Starters were plentiful and beautifully cooked as was the tandoori mixed grill, and chicken tikka, again freshly cooked and served with rice and Nan, Well worth a visit, we will definitely be returning.

Had a lovely meal for five people at the British Raj (used to be called Balti Nights) last night. We all had the same opinion about the restaurant. Welcoming staff, spotlessly clean, could not fault the meal, fresh, tasty and well presented at a reasonable price. Will definitely be going back.

We've been for meals every now and then over the last 18 years, and the place is usually empty except for maybe one other family. We booked for my birthday earlier this month after lockdown was lifted. No track and trace, no hand sanitizer, and no social distancing. Our favourite restaurant remains closed, the owner refusing to open until it's safe to do so, and Balti Night is taking advantage of this to make money while they can. The food is good, portions small though, and a price hike. Okay we thought it was because it was a Saturday evening. So we decided to go back tonight. Just as before, no details taken for track and trace, no hand sanitizer, and the family of the owner were in for a meal along with us, and 3 other couples. We were sat back to back with another couple. While we're waiting for our order, the young lady working there, friendly and helpful, however, the owner's family were in and out of the kitchen, helping themselves, no hair covering, no masks, no beard covering etc, in fact hygiene regulations seem to be as lax as the covid-19 restrictions. Will wait until Bilash Balti re-opens.

Me and the wife eat here alot.inside and take out.cant fault it. Just ordering one now actually. Gaz

Food is amazing, polite and friendly staff and atmosphere is really relaxed. Definitely recommend this place to everyone.

Unbelievably rude and unprofessional staff ruined what was a lovely and tasty family meal for us on NYE. My daughter rang on Sunday to book a table of 5 and then a few days later again to rearrange the time to 5pm from 7pm. We arrived at 5pm tonight and was seated and offered menus and asked if we had booked and we confirmed that we had. No mention from staff at this point that they were actually unsure of our booking and couldn’t find record of it!! .... So of course we went ahead and ordered. Half way through our coffees and wine, we were rudely told that our table was needed and told to move to the front area which was already full with customers! Once we paid the bill, the barman rudely told us that we hadn’t even booked so basically, what did we expect !!!! At no point did they tell us that they supposedly had no record of our booking. Why not just tell us from the get go that they had no record of our booking and that it meant we would only have the table for a reduced time?!! My daughter has screen shots of the calls she made to the restaurant to book both times so there’s absolutely no excuse. No apologies made whatsoever and I will not recommend this establishment to anyone.

Rang up on Sunday to book for tonight (NYE) for 4 adults, 1 child at 7pm...I then rang last night and rearranged for 5pm instead so we could dine earlier and left my name. Arrived tonight at 5pm as planned and from the get go, something was up. The waiters seemed hesitant but seated us and offered us menus. After 2 courses each including poppadoms, we then ordered 3 brandy coffees to finish and were half way through a bottle of wine when the waiter rudely said that our table was needed. Our bill was planted down on the table and he gestured to the front of the restaurant, for us to move there which was already full. Upon paying the bill, we asked why we was so rudely moved from our table after only and hour and half, and was told we hadn’t booked!!!! Total lack of communication!!! If this was the case (which it wasn’t as we had booked) then why not mention this when we arrived????!!! Dismal and appalling customer service. As a family, this was our first meal here although other members had dined previously, and we even commented on how lovely the food was and how we would likely return. Not a chance now. No apology from any member of staff and we were left completely shocked and embarrassed at the experience in front of a full restaurant.

This is a lovely small restaurant that you will feel very at home in.The food is top notch and Das and his staff give a great service.Great choice of dishes and there is a good selection of wines + Kingfisher on draught.

Yes the place is a bit old fashioned & could do with lightening up. However the welcome is friendly. The food is superb well spiced & tasty. Good quality meat. Portions are good. Great value for money.

The staff were lovely in collection but they hadn’t taken down all of the order over the phone so when we got it home a dish was missing (we hadn’t been charged for it as they’d just not written it down when taking the order) which was a bit disappointing. The mixed platter for 2 starter left a lot to be desired and the 2 curries were really really bland, a very tomato soup type taste.

Absolutely love this place. The food never disappoints. would 10/10 recommend Lovely staff too! 5*!!!!

Lovely intimate indian/Bangladeshi restaurant.. we went in early midweek it was quiet but Friday and Saturday is very busy so would reccomend you book .. a delightful meal perfectly cooked and presented, portions s where a little smaller than others in the area but having said that I am normally over faced with portions which I then struggle to finish so they where actually perfect for us .. All our food tasted lovely and we could taste everything so nothing was over spiced all in all a lovely meal which including beers but no coffee or dessert came in at £38 , bargain.. I would definitely reccomend and will definitely return

The exterior belies the the warmth of welcome from this gem. Kingfisher on draught, cold & smooth. Poppadums crispy the chutneys tasty & fresh. Chicken Chat Puri, great flavour. Chicken shashlik, juicy, delicious. Mains of Desi style Chicken & Keema & a Chicken Chilli Raj all fit for a king. Superb cooking, use of spices & heat. Good portion of rice. Chilli & coriander Naan best ever. Quality ingredients, great flavours. Good value for money. A new favourite & for me number 1 curry house. I will recommend to all.

I get 'walk in takeaways' from here quite often, the food is of a really high standard. The 'Balti Exotica' is my personal fave (madras hot though!).

Best curry in Swinton/Worsley area. Easy in our takeaway you can't go wrong great food great friendly service. Chicken tikka chili raj , to die for. Bengal balti the wife's favoured curry. Great prices give it a go.

Really good food whether its takeaway or dine in. The staff are all friendly and helpful. If you want to try something new they will advise you.
