Balkh Restaurant in Southampton

This was our first experience of Afghan cuisine and it did not disappoint. Far from it. The restaurant looks ordinary from the outside, but we were just looking for somewhere to lunch. What transpired was an interesting cultural experience and a very good lunch costing £16 for the two of us. We had medium portions of lamb kebab with salad and nan bread and chicken kebab - the best rice I had ever eaten and a side plate of salad. I cannot remember the proper names of the dishes but they were numbers 51 and 52 on the menu. We drank tap water. Service was quick and pleasant, the portions large and delicious. Thank you.

I’ve been to this restaurant today ,the service was not good and customer service isn’t good at all . The food is not recommended at all . They served food which they were not supposed to . Specially don’t buy naan bread . I’ll upload a picture of a naan that was served and what I was told was I can eat the pice on the side for which i had to pay as well . Totally disappointed . The restaurant doesn’t even worth a star

La comida increíble como siempre y siempre cocinada con productos frescos no iría a ningún otro lado. Lo recomiendo encarecidamente y el personal es increíble y amable.

Es una pena que hayas decidido pasar dos horas hoy cerca de Lyndhurst en New Forest jugando y trepando árboles. Ni un viaje imprescindible ni una necesidad. Esto no es un día festivo, es una pandemia y el parque nacional está cerrado, por lo que los aparcamientos están cerrados. Quédate en casa. Si saca su coche anunciando el lugar siendo tan irresponsable, se merece la mala prensa.

They don't make fresh food, I saw the lady taking my food out of the microwave and bringing it to me. I had diarrhea half an hour later. And the lady overcharged me.

This restaurant is pure halal food with Afghan style. Rice with lamb are delicious. I visited here with family quite nice environment. We ordered many items but I realised they are specialists only in grill items. We will come back again.

The food is nice, but customer service is awful! There were only two staff serving and they jump to serve another customers who came after us, we felt ignored. We wanted to order more food but I was already pissed off! I just ordered a stater. They need to improve their customer service & treat all customer equally & with respect!

I took friends here, visiting from Nepal. I phoned up beforehand and simply asked them to provide a feast for five. What a magnificent feast it was! The food was exquisite and it gave it an authentic twist sitting in Afghan style around the huge platter. The mound of delicious rice was piled with succulent mutton, whole roasted fish, tender chicken and other kebabs. We managed to polish off everything, but it required the determined efforts of two very hungry young adult lads when the rest of us were utterly stuffed. What made the meal even better was the proprietor's pride and enthusiasm for his cuisine - and he can be justifiably proud. The flavours were beautifully balanced, with lovely variety and contrasts. Absolutely delicious - I've already been back for takeaways!

such a shame it was closed on Sunday, but a lovely place to have treat with authentic Afghani food especially Afghani lamb tikka was great , Kabali rice with mahechi was amazing, will definitely come back

Had some fantastic food here. Recommend the lamb kebabs Afghan style with biryani rice. Warm welcome from staff.

I had many deliveries from this restaurant as well as dinning in and it is simply the best in Afghani and Middle East food in Southampton. The prices are great for such taste.

Yummy food. We visited on 19 april and had bukhari rice with kofta kebab, grilled chicken and mutton karahi. Food was do delicious specially Afghani naan and bukhari rice. Service was not very impressive but food was all over it.

Had a delivery from here for me and 2 other people and very impressed. Big portions, in fact could have fed twice the amount of people! Chicken and lamb cooked very well, fell away from the bone. I don't think I have ever seen a naan so big! Mantu pasta great I wish I ordered more to keep :) Will order again and highly recommened.

La comida realmente buena, especiado perfectamente y sin el oilyness que a veces encuentras en un restaurante más genérico ... que de alguna manera ha probado muy limpio. Yo tenía pollo con arroz a Alhfam bukhari ... el pollo estaba muy sabroso, increíblemente tierna y humectada con cosas desagradables no grasosas, y el arroz estaba divino. La decoración era "la cuchara de grasa" típico medio oriente (donde si quieres sentarte en un hotel de lujo que pagar mucho más a menudo y la comida no es tan bueno), pero el servicio es bueno y amable. Si quieres más confort, hacen un llevar el servicio.
