Fantastic authentic Indian food and great service. The staff were all lovely and very accommodating. Will certainly return!

This place by far has one of the best arrays of Indian food in the region! True to taste. Infact, it can very well give a standup competition to another known indian food chain 👊🏽. A must visit and we for sure will visit again.

The food and services are great but got very confused with their location as it took me half an hour to figure out that they are in Hale Barn not in Altrincham neither Hale, I was trying to find them in Altrincham everywhere and nobody knew them until I checked out their website is showing correct address but on trip advisor and google they mentioned Altrincham as their address and they are nowhere near to Altrincham so it's a piece of misleading information in that perspective. you guys need to correct the address and take Altrincham out of the address which is confusing for many.

We hired Balchao Restaurant to host our sons birthday party on the 31st December. The staff were attentive in our pre planning, even taking the time to video call us through the setup for the day. On the day, they were fantastic at managing our guests, serving food and drinks with no delay and most importantly - the food was delicious! Good people skills & hosting ability really makes a difference, and I have to truly say I enjoyed the experience and would not hesitate in booking again. Highly recommend.

The food, atmosphere and service are all good. Vegetarian dishes can be made into vegan on request. The beetroot poriyal and kolhapuri chicken are flavoursome. The warm service and good cooking by the chefs will make me want to return to try other dishes. Hope they will expand the menu to have vegan dishes.

We went to Balchao at 4pm for a meal, because we wanted to return a Hertz hire car before 5pm. The staff were super friendly and cheerful, and quickly cooked us a delicious meal. The menu items were half the price of the Marriott Airport Hotel menu, and Balchao is only 1/2 mile away (13 mins walk/ 3 mins drive, from the hotel). Lamb chops were perfectly cooked, curry delicious and fluffy, perfect rice. Beer was cold ..... just like Aussies love to drink it.

Incredible food and outstanding customer service - I will recommend trying king prawns and bamboo biryani. Exceptionally well-cooked food. It was so lovely to spend an evening at Balchao Restaurant with friends.

We had a table for 10 people for late lunch. Mr Pathak was an extremely welcoming host who made us feel at home. He recommended lots of dishes for us based on our individual tastes which were all excellent. The food came very quickly as well. We would definitely come back, perhaps for dinner next time to experience a different atmosphere.

Honestly the best restaurant I have been to in Manchester, from the food, to the restaurant attire and the staff friendliness, honestly I would highly recommend planning your trip to Altrincham around this place, a unique flavouring experience!

Great eating experience. Very warm and helpful staff. Had a bad experience that turned into a good one thanks to the manager’s intervention. I ordered a signature fish dish. This came out and was very rich in mustard. This happens to be the only ingredient I don’t eat. Menu did not mention mustard. Manager came asking if all was well 3 minutes after plates were issued. Shared my observation and he immediately reassured me not to worry and replaced it with another fish dish. Amazing customer service. Big thumbs up

This place is most definitely I would like to keep going back to. There are extremely very few Indian restaurants where the flavours,service & ambience go together. Big shout out to the head chef, who not only personalises the dish according to you but also makes time to speak with the diners, a BIG plus which hardly any restaurants offer👍

Very nice Indian meal, not sure what the fusion component is, seems broadly similar to other Indian restaurant menus. I really enjoyed the Biryani and King Prawn dish from specials menu. Quiet when I was there, and quite dark interior, good for meal as a couple.

Amazing food. My wife and I wanted to get food from here for a takeaway the other night. I originally looked at ordering through Deliveroo but each item is around £1-2 more expensive plus delivery fees and you save 20% when collecting so we went for that. Great service whilst waiting and paying for my food. Lovely staff. Nice smiles. Very welcoming. Got the food home whilst still piping hot and it was delicious. We'll definitely order from here again and hopefully soon will find time to eat in there too.

Be warned a service charge was added on everything you buy, even when i went to the bar myself for drinks a service charge was added and i was not told it was being added, until i saw my bank statement the next day. We had the set menuu, curry sauce with all different dishes was very bland no flavour at all, the butterfly shrimp was amazing. To expensive for what we had.

Good food in general but some of its a bit mental in price, got a shared starter and you get 6 pieces of meat for £22 which is expensive for what it is..the rest of the curries are amazing though so it gets 4 starts from me.. Edit reduced it to 3 stars the service was really poor had to ask at every point rather than anyone come to us

I cannot recommend Balchão enough. From the delicious food to the excellent service and beautiful ambiance, it's truly a gem of a restaurant. We are coming back again.

Went here solely for the signature dish of prawns balchao which isn't actually prawns balchao at all. They have altered the recipe so it's not too spicy or sour because some people don't like that. What I received whilst perfectly edible was nothing like balchao so I was utterly disappointed. I won't be going again sorry.

Great culinary experience. The food was excellent and portion size was superb. The staff are a credit too. I dealt directly with the manager Pathak who was very friendly yet professional and took great care of our party of 13. The serving/waiting-on staff were also excellent. Between us we had most of the menu and all reported back that the food was superbly tasty! Great job. Will definitely be returning 👍🏼

Went here last night (Saturday 11th feb)for a second time and again wasn't disappointed Starters quite small portions but not sure that's because we were on a Groupon deal 🤷🏻‍♂️ All food was very flavoursome and staff were very friendly Someone commented on the temperature of the restaurant we found it ok. All in all very nice different Indian cuisine ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Balchão was a nice experience and a beautiful surprise for my birthday. We booked quite early so we had the restaurant for ourselves which meant the service was fantastic. The food was full of flavour and the portions were generous (so much so we had to take some away as we couldn't finish it). The sea bass dish was one of the tastiest I've ever had. At the end I have received a beautiful cake and even the chefs came up to the table to sing Happy Birthday!

Amazing food... Specially the balchao prawns

The starters were fantastic. This gave us high hopes of the mains but we were left underwhelmed. Not horrible but very mediocre. The lamb itself was good but the sauce lacked the flavour we were hoping for. The fish was cooked beautifully but again, the sauce was lacking in both spice (two chillis on the menu) and flavour. The deserts are frozen. To the point that the key lime pie was rock hard. Service was outstanding and everything was done with a smile. Would I go back and spend £80 for two again? Probably not.

This is our 5th visit over the past 6 weeks. The quality of food is superb, along with the friendly staff.

Wanted to like it but unfortunately not up to it. Food was one dimensional in taste and too much salt. Places in hale and Manchester are much better. Akbar Liverpool road Manchester and Sigiriya in Hale just two examples.

Tiny, starters and just as tiny main courses. It's very over priced. £9.95 for 2 not so Jumbo prawns as the starter. £5.95 for some papadoms and chuntney too. £14.95 for a tiny curry with 4 small pieces of fish. If you like overpriced Asian food lacking in any authentic spicy flavours apart from salt, then feel free to try. We didn't complain about the prices or the salty food as we were using discount vouchers which was discounted by about 50%. But if you were to dine here on the original prices, you're in for a shock. After the 2 course meal including a drink we quickly left and ordered a takeaway from our local Indian to fill us up on a cold chilli night. For anyone who is still curious to try this place. They serve you Hot! curry on Freezing! cold plates. Their only excuse was the plate warmers were out of order.

Missed out on atmosphere as visited at 2pm when the restaurant was pretty empty. Food quality and quantities were excellent. However, three of us chose different lamb dishes and all felt it wasn't as well cooked as we like. Staff friendly and efficient. Will return in the spring when we won't have a long drive home in the dark!!

Just had an excellent meal at Balchao with friends. Absolutely gorgeous food, really welcoming and attentive staff and a friendly atmosphere. This is the second time we have been here and it was excellent each time. Will definitely be coming again.

Food very good well presented just not a lot of it. Took forever for the main courses to arrive. Ten waiting on staff and only two chefs but that's normal for hospitality, Kitchen staff not a priority is it any surprise there's a shortage of chefs.

Lovely restaurant- really well prepared, thoughtfully cooked food. I’ve been twice now in August 2022, the quality is consistent - really nice taste to everything. Just a little pricey (it is Hale I suppose).

We had such a wonderful meal here. The service was amazing; so friendly and welcoming and they honestly couldn’t do enough for you. The food was outstanding- a really good fusion with some different flavours and very tasty. Highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of visiting this hidden gem for a small business dinner. This place is simply vibrant and stunning. The decor and ambience was remarkable and made the whole dining experience well worth it. This was definitely fusion food at its finest! The food was on point and I was impressed with the waiters knowledge of all the dishes and his recommendations for each of us in our group with different taste buds. Lovely to see real chefs with great culinary experience and a real understanding of various modern and traditional cooking methods and ingredients. I will definitely be back very soon.

Great cuisine .. some refreshingly new takes on old favourites!

Visited the restaurant mid week with my mother and and father and the kids. Had seen the reviews and we were all excited to try it. This place is a revelation! The decor and ambiance are excellent. We were greeted by smiling, friendly staff who were eager to help and had great knowledge about the food and drinks available. Even something as mundane as the poppadoms came with the freshly made chutneys and chickpea salad, which we all agreed we could just eat in bowlfuls on its own. The menu is filled with dishes from all over India and the Middle East. For starters the prawn roundels, lamb chops, kobideh (seekh) kebabs and okra fries; every dish sang with flavour. My eldest daughter who won’t touch okra, polished off half of the fries herself. For mains we ordered the prawn balchao, lamb premier, a Bengali style prawn and some chicken makhani (although it is named differently on the menu) with some naan. The rice was included with the prawn and lamb signature dishes. Every dish we had (the manager/chef, Mr Pathak actually bought another dish for us to try; chicken kolhapuri)! Each dish really shows off the food of the region it’s from. The quality of ingredients speak for themselves and the taste is out of this world. My middle daughter, who is notoriously fussy ate the most I’ve ever seen her eat-ever! My father who is not easily impressed with most places we’ve been, absolutely loved it as well. I was delighted with our whole experience. Balchao is an amazing addition to the Altrincham area. I would highly recommend without hesitation. Well done to everyone involved. Please keep going and serving this amazing food. We will be back soon.

Last night went with family members for dinner. Absolutely fantastic experience. Food quality and taste was absolutely superb. Service was excellent. Wish the team all the best. We had an absolutely incredible dinner at Balchao  We had a family dinner for my sons birthday and ordered some starter , main course and chefs selected curries with nice cocktails and I couldn't find a fault with a single dish we had. Everything was exciting and surprising, with amazing flavours and carefully curated combinations. The service was also excellent with friendly staff who were passionate about the food and beverages. What's more, we had the best seat in the house and were able to watch into the kitchen. It was a true glimpse into a masterfully run restaurant - everyone was so calm and focused on what they were doing, with the head chef overseeing everyone and pitching in wherever he was needed without any hint of ego. Our visit to Balcho  was; What a restaurant. Service was impeccable and food was creatively delicious. By far one of the best restaurants in Hale  I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special dining experience.

Excellent food, polite waiters and staff and the service was excellent. The selection of food is impressive, the menu is a modern day “fusion”cuisine, the food is halal and after ordering the food arrived very quickly. The waiters were very friendly and the orders were served correctly and were very well cooked. The selection of meat was good and the dishes were cooked perfectly. Succulent, tender meat, impressive starter and main course dishes. Decent spice and decent sized portions. We were a party of 6 celebrating a friends birthday and the attention to detail was excellent. We were given dishes to try and were impressed with the ambience and decor in the restaurant. Prices good for the area, easy parking and excellent venue. We will be back. Great venue, very well presented and cooked food and some very nice unexpected tastes that were delicious to try. This restaurant will appeal to all people. As someone from an Asian background we don’t generally eat out in Indian/Pakistani restaurants but this is certainly a place we will be going back to. Well done keep up the good work and service.
