Baity in Manchester

Get the stuffed aubergine, the halloumi and the shwarma fries - and then get everything else. Friendly service, reasonable prices, quick service and wonderful food!

Terrible place! My friend had an upset stomach after eating their traditional dish. Service was terrible and very slow. Will never eat there again. Stay away! Other more attractive places in kargo to eat.

We visited Baity to try their Sunday roast after reading a review online. I have to say, like previous reviews, I was a little underwhelmed. The lamb portion for me was a little on the small side for £20. The meal itself was luke warm and needed the gravy (which was more like a jus and needed thickening) to warm it up. The broccoli was undercooked, not al dente, just hard stems. The meal overall was pleasant but not something I would go out of my way to return for unfortunately which is a shame.

Went for Sunday lunch, largely because the Evening News had given it a glowing review. Both me and my friend felt it was pretty ordinary, apart from a few pomegranate seeds and a seasoning on the roast vegetables it was no different to any other roast dinner. It was all a bit lukewarm too. Service was fine, although given how quiet the restaurant was, it would have been hard to be otherwise. Might go back to try their usual menu, not for Sunday lunch though.

The place is beautiful, and the food was delicious and authentic. The service was excellent, nothing too much trouble. I thoroughly recommend. I will definitely go again!

We had the Lamb Maqluba, Musakhan Chicken, Batata Harra and Zatar Sweet Tato's - was hoping to try the kunafa but we were far too full. The starters were the highlight for me and to be honest, very generous portions ! Great service and looking forward to returning again!

What magnificent food. The owner served us (possibly because we were a bit of a pain) and he was just absolutely charming. We tried all sorts on the small dishes for starters and everything was an absolute star. The mains were fantastic. I have allergies and they made everything easy without making me feel bad about it. small family meal, taking son out we knew it was only two choices either chicken or lamb so no worries there, no alcohol on menu - good, food all three dishes were tepid to cold, lamb was tender but really small amount chicken was a bit anaemia but where were the spices and flavours, they was completely absent, rest of veg was cool and soggy, and a big yorkshire pudding, what’s that if not a vehicle to mask inadequacy, and it did not have crisp edges, all in all poor food, nothing interesting and no good value will not bother on a sunday again.

Beautiful premises, vibrant atmosphere, glorious food, welcoming staff. Must try in Manchester, you will not be disappointed

Our first visit but won’t be our last. We had a late lunch here, nice and chilled vibe. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was fantastic, ample portion sizes and really tender, tasty meat, would highly recommend.

The restaurant wasn’t busy but we we still waited for over 20 minutes for the waitress to come and take our order. After such a long wait I went to the counter to order and was told by the waitress that she’ll come and take our order. There was no issues with the food coming out and apart from the lamb chops, which were quite tough, we enjoyed the food. However, for the price you pay the portions weren’t very big. We waited again after we finished our food for the dessert menu. Once we had the menu we waited another 15 minutes until we had enough of the waiting and asked for the bill so we could leave. After looking forward to trying Baity for months, it really is a shame that the service let us down.

We went to Baity for the first time yesterday and had an excellent meal. I have never been to a Palestinian restaurant before and could not say how authentic it was, but the taste was fantastic. We had a few "small plates" and one main meal, all to share. All were very good; the mutabal was outstanding. The spicy prawns were excellent too. We will be coming back and will try some more small plates. Unfortunately the grill was not available when we went. I look forward to tring some grilled meat. We booked in advance and had to enter credit card details. We were informed that we would be charged £20 if we did not turn up. We thought this was discourteous; it implied that visitors were likely to be dishonest. Service was OK but could have been better.

Ordered some favourite dishes and accompaniments . All fresh and beautifully presented. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Beautiful decor inside featuring Palestinian designs of culture for one to become aware of the beauty of Palestine whilst waiting for order. Highly recommend a visit .

Booked a table for 4pm to have early dinner with friends and this is our first visit to Baity but we all left feeling a bit underwhelmed by it all. The restaurant wasn’t very busy just our table of 5 and 2 other tables of 2 with what seemed to be lots of waiting staff and still the service was very slow. No one came to take our drinks orders for ages and then clearing the plates after the starters took a long time and were only cleared when the mains were ready to come out. When the mains arrived everyone had theirs apart from one person and they waited almost 5 minutes for it to arrive. When it did arrive they said it was lamb but they ordered chicken. The waitress took it back into the kitchen to check and came out saying it was chicken not lamb. They started eating it and it turned out to be lamb so we sent it back. By this time every had finished their main courses and we had to wait even further for the food. We were offered complimentary drinks but it’s no alcohol and most were drinking water. The food was ok, nothing special but the portions we found were very small. The amount of shawarma on the hummus was tiny compared to other restaurants in the area, the grill dishes with kebabs were small too as one person got one chicken kebab with maybe 4 tiny pieces on, lamb chops were also very small and a bit over done. Like we said our first time trying and had wanted to go for a long time as it sounded very interesting however we left feeling very underwhelmed y the food and felt the service was very poor. Won’t be back which is a shame.

Went for dinner with two (vegetarian) friends. First thing we noticed was the lovely, fairly simple, décor. Also, no alcohol served but a good range of soft drinks, teas etc. In the first 20 minutes we were there, there must have been at least 10 take-aways collected (they do delivery). My friends ordered the hummous and falafel, which were very nice. But I ordered the sweet potatoes with zaatar (one of my favourite spices) which was the "star of the show". All I could do to stop my friends eating all of them! For mains (I cannot remember the names of each dish), my friends had flat bread with veg, which looked a little like a pizza, and a house speciality of rice, veg and tomato sauce made with fresh tomatoes and spices. I ordered one of the traditional dishes which was rice with lamb served traditionally "upside down" with aubergine and flaked almonds and a (separate) garlicky yogurt sauce. The rice was cooked to perfection. We all thoroughly enjoyed our main courses. Very nice staff and excellent service. Will definitely go again and try other dishes, although I think the sweet potatoes with zaatar will be ordered every time!
