Bagattis in Croydon

All of the food was really really good, service was great and it didn’t take too long either. Honestly no complaints at all, lovely!! Get the carpaccio, you won’t regret it 😍

Thank you so much to all the staff, especially Olivia and Aurelio. We were a very big group of 24 people and despite us being such a big number of people the quality of service and food was still brilliant. Olivia and Aurelio were particularly patient and made us feel extremely welcome. Also big thank you to kitchen staff, the food was amazing! The platters in particular as a starter were amazing.

Overall a nice looking restaurant. A good menu option. I choose the lamb Raghu, and I thought it was too much sauce for the quantity of pasta, as well lacking a bit of pepper. My husband got the vongole spaghetti that was very good portion. We thought it was a bit pricey compared to other italian local restaurants that we go in Central London.

Frequent visitor to this place over the last 10 years. Ordinarily an excellent restaurant with an almost guaranteed hum & buzz atmosphere. We didn’t ask anyone for confirmation, but we just knew that the restaurant had changed hand. The service was poor, the kitchen have clearly started using cheaper ingredients, I would hazard a guess that the previous chef (s) have left. The established front of house staff appear to have moved on. To summarise! The standards have fallen of a cliff and the prices have shot up. Won’t be back anytime soon. What a shame, this was my go to place locally.

Quite a large restaurant with some tables outside for al fresco dining. The menu choices are reasonable but not extensive. Not in the same class as the Ponte Nuevo further up the street. There are 2 hour roadside parking spaces but you need to be lucky to get one. The waiters were kind and obliging but service was slow and not particularly attentive. Portion sizes were generous. Altogether average Italian, surrounded by huge choice of other restaurants of diverse nationalities.

What a fabulous restaurant this is. We were here for my great nephew’s 18th birthday and we had a wonderful time. The staff are just delightful, friendly and accommodating and the food is lovely and plentiful. I had the spaghetti a la vongole which is my favourite dish and it was delicious. The crab ravioli was fab too. The desserts were imaginative and beautifully presented. The prices are reasonable and it’s so easy to get to. The toilets are on the ground floor and accessible - not the most luxurious toilets but they were clean. All in all a lovely meal.

Waited a long time before being offered, even longer for the meal whick was chicken pasta chicken was tough and pasta sauce was tasteless. Dessert was panacotta bread pudding again terrible. Best thing was the coffee. Too expensive then 10% on top. Won't be going back

Popped into Bagattis during the Croydon food festival. Despite it being one of their busiest days of the year, all the staff were as lovely as ever and the four of us even managed to snag a table outside. Food was excellent, particularly the 2 pasta dishes with prawns, (washed down with a lovely bottle of Verdicchio), but the banoffee pie at the end? The best I've ever had, still dreaming about it! Consistently good food and service for decades makes this a super reliable choice for groups and families, a rare gem.

We met friends for lunch after quite some time of seeing each other and dining at Bagattis. We started dining here since 1990, it hasn't changed, sometimes it's been a hit and others a miss hence this hasn't been my favourite go to restaurant. I can say that today, l will be back. We had three amazing courses, our friends, who travelled from North London, enjoyed theirs too. Hubby, who eats everything, took a doggy bag home. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.

Frequently visit Bagattis. However tonight was no where near its usual standard. Service was absolutely appaullling and even some of the food was not up to usual scratch. One and half hours for starters and even had to take own drinks off the counter! Don't know if new owners or just "pack em in high to make money"!

We have been eating at Biagattis since 1996, and it was the best restaurant in Croydon, always authentic and delicious. Today however, after not visiting since before lockdown, we found a different service altogether. The waiter forgot what we ordered, and we also had to remind him we were waiting for our water - again he forgot if it was fizzy or still! The starter - antipasti misto - was so far from what was expected based on past visits, we were really disappointed. Prawn cocktail and hard boiled eggs have no place on the plate! The mortadella was more spam than Italian and the Parma ham was like shoe leather, on top of the waiter didn't know if it came with bread either! Don't get me started on the mains ... My husband's crab ravioli had unravelled and was a sloppy mess, which REALLY smelt and tasted fishy 😬. My meat cannelloni was okay, but it had been microwaved (it used to come in a clay bowl in the past and would be molten hot for ages) and cold in places. Sadly it was an experience we are not going to repeat again. So sad 😢

Came here last night with 4 colleagues and had a fantastic meal. The place was busy, and yet service was slick and impeccable. There's a lovely atmosphere of modern, but traditional in the decor, but the food was fantastic. Little bowls of mixed olives at the table. The mozzarella fritta was lush, and wrapped in parm ham. The linguine gamberi was outstanding, full of fat fresh juicy prawns and not shy on portion size. Reasonably priced for the quality and portion sizes

One of our favourite places and normally 5 star. Not today unfortunately. Slow service and left off a side order. Mens toilet seat broken in half and the cubicle itself was very clean or smart. Disappointing

Came here as a party of 2, pre-booked as it is always busy. We booked a table outside but it was pouring so we were kindly moved inside without question.Service was friendly and prompt, we ordered a bottle of Wine, Bruschetta to share (you get 6 pieces) so more than us to split. I ordered the Black Linguine with Seafood and my friend had a vegetarian pasta dish.Food arrived in good time but wasn't rushed, portion sizes are really generous, mine was full of prawns and squid and I struggled to finish my meal. Service sadly dipped off towards the end as we really wanted to order a coffee but we struggled to catch someone to ask for a menu. We finally ordered, my friend chose the mini Tiramisu with the coffee and I had the latte. My friends desert arrived within minutes, about 10 minutes after I was still waiting so had to chase it up. Even after chasing it up it still took a good while to arrive which was a little disappointing as my friend had finished her coffee / desert before mine had even arrived. No big issue but just a little niggle as apart from that, everything else had been great.1 starter, 1 bottle of wine, 2 mains, 1 coffee & 1 mini desert with a Coffee came to £74 which I didn't think was too bad, you will not be disappointed with the food!

I thought initially it was all a bit of image rather than substance, but this restaurant really comes up with the good. Food is high quality, portions are generous, and staff are friendly. Normally when ordering a fish like bream in London you get a tiny piece while in the Mediterranean they give a sizeable fish... here offers a sizeable fish not a postage stamp ! I used to visit this restaurant in the 90’s before hitting the clubs! Loved it then, and is still as brilliant...Visited today as was in the area and was lucky enough to get a table. The staff were so lovely. The food was superb. We had the pasta, pollo ( chicken and courgettes) and the don (fillet steak) piping hot and delicious. We couldn’t mange a dessert as were full... I wasnt expecting the 50% deal so that was a complete bonus. We will definitely make a return visit very soon. It’s great to see family restaurants still going and still as good . Why did it take us so long?! We loved our evening here. We shared a wonderful meal with my partners sister and husband, and their little one. We had two coeliacs with us and they were very accommodating, and checked everything with the kitchen. The grilled squid starter was my favourite, and the mixed antipasto was a great portion. I had the spaghetti with clams, I normally have a small appetite, but I ate all of it. My partners seafood pasta was very tasty, our guests also enjoyed their meal, as did the little man who ate a huge amount of his pizza for a 3 year old. Overall we will now be making this a regular spot,

Went to Bagatti's and had the seabass as a main, and it was delicious! The staff suggested a cocktail to go with the meal, which went perfectly. The food was amazing, not a morsal left on the plate. I booked for one o clock but realised this was leaving things a bit tight to pick up our son from respite, so the evening before I phoned to ask if we could possibly make it 15 minutes earlier; despite the noise of a busy evening , the lady who answered looked at my booking and confirmed no problem. This sounds like a minor detail but I already had a comforting feeling about the way we would be looked after.Upon arrival , we were offered inside or out tables. Despite the changeable weather we chose outside. Fifteen minutes in, it started to spit with rain. The staff immediately moved all the outside tables over and across so we didn’t get wet. On to the food.I had a bowl of mussels , which required 3 empty bowls for the discarded shells, in a sauce so fresh, and toasted bread to soak up the juices. Divine. My wife is gluten free, but the restaurant offered her different options for each choice she liked. Black tagliatelle followed for me, again swimming in seafood.A visit to this restaurant was always on my list once I tried a Takeaway during lockdown and despite the hustle and bustle brought about by the Eat in to Help Out scheme, no one yesterday could have any issues with the food or service. 100% recommend treating yourself to a feelgood experience. Absolutely lovely meal with the most magical Vibe! Started of with the mixed platter between 3, which was so delicious we demolished it in minutes!! Then went on to our main course with the Penne alla don (with tagliatelle) which was scrumptious! Couldn't finish it all so had a great treat to wake up too in the morning. The service was brilliant, especially considering the pandemic. Drink were speedy and the waiter was checking on us every 5 minutes. Such a great experience coming here with friends and will definitely be returning shortly with my partner! Can't wait for some more of that calamari and bruschetta :D

Only giving as high as two stars because the food was good other than one main course shame about everything else about the place including the staff which let it down and made two stars seems overly generous. We got seated and given a food and just a wine menu, my gf is pregnant so asked for another drinks menu. The wine menu was swifly taken off me. Since it was hot I decided to have a soft drink any way with our starter. We finished our drinks and couldn't even get the attention of any staff despite previously being hassled multiple times to order before we had ordered we had no clear idea who our waiter was and it felt like a massive inconvenience to call any one over. I was hoping to have wine with my main and would have loved to have desert as well. We would have happily of spent a lot more money as it was our anniversary. it seems all the staff were happy to all help out with serving obvious regulars rather than looking after newcomers. Covid guidelines also not followed too many tables packed too closely together and too many people allowed in at one time. The safety screens installed didn't seem fit for purpose and made my gf uncomfortable. She also had a pasta main which she said she could of made herself at home. Luckily she enjoyed her starter will avoid in the future. Going to be going somewhere different next week as a second anniversary celebration so we don't have this unfortunate experience to remember it.

My family has been coming to Bagatti's for over 30 years. It's a wonderful restaurant. With my parents now in their late 80s, we have now started regularly using their delivery service. It really is first class - delicious food as always, piping hot and delivered on time. We tend to order the same dishes because they are superb and we love them - Penne con pollo (with gluten free pasta) for me, Risotto Paesano for Mum and Salmone Fresco for Dad. I hope to get back to the restaurant at some point. In the meantime, we will continue to use and enjoy Bagatti's food in the comfort of our own home.

We have been going for years here but this was the first time since Covid19. No masks worn by any of the chefs and waiters - bringing food and drinks and talking over you with less than 1 metre between us and them. The manager even tried to shake our hand - we felt extremely uncomfortable the whole evening with regards to Covid. Food was amazing as always though.

Saturday night on a hot summers night . We were a group of 4 and had a lovely window seat . Tables were safely socially distanced and there were screens up too so it felt as safe as possible . The waiter was very friendly and helped us decide to get a sharing anti pasta platter . My swordfish main was amazing . We had complimentary lemoncello ! Will return soon !!!

Pre-booked a table for dinner post Lockdown and was looking forward to it. Arrived and were seated straight away, tables spread out nicely. Service was good, little slow to begin with but we weren't in a rush. Ordered a bottle of wine and mussels to share as a starter. Food arrived in good time, portion size was generous and was more than enough for 2 to share. Wine was reasonably priced and tasted great.We both ordered pasta dishes, these arrived in good time and tasted fresh, piping hot and again large portion sizes.Food is reasonably priced, bottle of wine, starter and 2 pasta dishes came to about £50. Look forward to returning soon!

I ordered via UberEats as I was craving pasta. I ordered the spaghetti cabonara which was tasty. BUT the banoffee pie is just divine! As in delicious. The food came warm and a very generous portion size if I may add. Had extra left over. Would highly recommend and order from them again. Hopefully visit the restaurant in person soon

First restaurant visit since lockdown and the restaurant had good spacing between tables and plastic screens between tables that were a bit closer together. Saw all menus being wiped down and thorough cleaning between guests. The service was very nice and the food arrived quickly and was very tasty. The restaurant is quite expensive but definitely worth the price.

First meal post lockdown and it was really disappointing. We were sat immediately and the restaurant had done a good job of spacing out the tables. Drinks ordered after 15mins of waiting and only four arrived. A further 15 mins later and after much prodding the other two arrived. Pasta dish was very bland and sauce was watery. Had to ask for items multiple times over the course of the evening so it got irritating. Didn’t stay for dessert as we just wanted to get out of there. Have visited at least 10 times over the last 2 years so not a regular but know the food to be good so don’t know what happened especially with the service. Waiter was very poor. A shame as we won’t be rushing back but they have their favourites so maybe that’s where we went wrong.

Though we had used Bagattis several times during the Lockdown (timely deliveries and hot tasty food), tonight was our first meal out since before Pandemic hit the UK. We had reserved in advance as had, I observed, all those who came in afterwards (about 30 in all). Very friendly welcome. Tables spaced out so we had the required distance from other diners. Knives and forks brought out with each course. I had the ravioli with crab meat in a tomatoey sauce (hot and very nice), and followed with a slice of tiramisu - soft and creamy. We each had our favourite summer drink ; an Aperol spritzer. Service was prompt, and even the restaurant's owner came out to chat to the guests. A good sign. Prices had not gone up from their pre-Pandemic levels

We have been coming to Bagittis since it opened many years ago, during Lock down we were so pleased to still enjoy their food as a take away, the food always arrived on time and piping hot. Last night we actually went out for our first meal at Bagittis, I was a little bit nervous, as this was our first night out since the Lock down, to be honest we were very impressed with the social distancing measures that had been put in place and the hygiene, we felt very safe and comfortable. In lockdown we have really missed going to Bagattis. So we decided for Our 10 Year wedding Anniversary we would order a takeaway. WOW We were not disappointed. Very tasty, massive portions. Would highly recommended. Thank you

Delighted to find that Bagatti have reopened to provide a delivery service in the Croydon area. We have been frequenting Bagatti quite often until the Lockdown started. Then a desert for decent food delivered to our houses until first Nino's Kitchen and now Bagatti stepped up to fill the gap, Tonight's ravioli (one crab and the other ricotta cheese) arrived hot and were delicious. A liitle pot of grated parmesan, and another of pitted olives were accompaniments. Bagatti use their own delivery driver and do not charge for that. We gave the driver a decent tip. Well worth another order!

I visited Bagattis last week for lunch with my family and the service was amazing! It is such a lovely restaurant and all staff were very friendly and accommodating. But the best thing that happened, I mistakenly thought "Melanzane Parmigiana" was on the menu, but it was not. However, the waiter said that he would ask the chef if he would be able to make it for me. And he did! It was such a kind gesture and I was so happy as this is my favourite italian dish. Cooked to perfection, the best "melanzane parmigiana" I have had by far! I reallly hope they include it on the menu from now on and I will definitely be requesting it in the future!My family also enjoyed their food, it was all so delicious, and exceptional customer service!

Lovely place to go to celebrate our sons 18th birthday the staff where great with a cake for him, the food as always was fantastic, large portions of freshly prepared hot food, special mention for the lamb shank and freshly made pizza, one of our party had a nut allergy and they were absolutely great with accommodating him, I highly recommended Baghatti’s if you’ve not experienced eating there when in Croydon your really missing out on a treat.

Arrived Saturday about 7pm hadn't booked but they quickly got us a table it was next to kitchen pass but that helped us make our choice ! Food looked and smelt great . We had pizza seafood pasta and a cream and broccoli pasta all were very lovely . Good portion sizes too . Wine good . Desserts ok . Would def revisit but would book meal for 3 about 80 genuinely nice staff

This is a good family pasta restaurant, not fancy inside, but the food and service was excellent. Great for large groups and birthdays.Nothing was too much trouble, we even brought our own birthday cake which they happily served up.I had the crab ravioli which I can recommend.....

maybe it can get a bit noisy ..maybe turn the musci down a tad Peter ... but I've never regretted visiting. If you want something added or taken out of a dish, they'll always try and accomodate you. In my view, the mark of a good quality establishment with freshly cooked food.

I have been to Bagattis many times and both food and service are consistently good here. This restaurant has been opened for many years and is very popular in South Croydon, posssinly one of the best. It is always busy so it is better to book.

fabulous christmas lunch yesterday . Great food, really attentive and efficient service and good value! Got to be the best restaurant in Croydon. To be able to maintain such high standards during the chaos of work Christmas bookings is no mean feat and very very rare! Thank you !

Disappointing lasagna, not what I expected with large sliced carrots. Didnt read menu properly as it does say lasagna with vegetables. However didnt enjoy this it was quite unappetizing and luke warm. The cheesecake is not a typical cheesecake either. Consisted of fresh cream and pears sandwiched between two baked shortbread type biscuits. Tasted ok but again not what I expected. Restaurant is cold and dated in its decor.Expensive for a mediocre meal.

I've been to Bagattis twice in December with 2 different groups and both times we've all had a fantastic time. The Christmas set menu is great value for money, with a perfect selection of food to choose from. The sharing platter is amazing!! I can totally recommend the Seabass and Vegetarian Lasagna (I'm not even vegetarian!). Amber was singing on both nights which made the evening even more enjoyable and good fun. The staff work incredibly hard and are always there if you need anything.
