Babylon 76-78 in Merton

What a surprise when the family invited me for Mother'Day to "meet them in Babylon"//that was an invite i couldn't refuse... I headed to a district new to me Raynes Park... it was worth the drive and the rain could not deter my excitement to enter this energised atmosphere on overload with very happy families dining . The aura was "Welcome" in capital letters. I attribute this to the staff member Luciano... who greeted me with such kindness and conversation and filled me in on the interesting history of this restaurant...But the proof of the pudding, they say, is in the eating: Yes! I am a bit of a foodie BUT the Calamari I ordered which got quickly shared with the rest of the brood was rated 10 out of 10 for taste and texture...And I have been around the world choosing this dish as my favourite...It was the best I have ever had!...maybe the cook sprinkled magic Mother's Day seasoning in the batter after Luciano took my order requesting a "double portion'! Memorable and for sure I recommend Babylon from the calamari and other beautifully presented dishes on our table plus the congenial service; and I'll be back. This place puts Raynes Park on my map!

My Daughter's and Family took me out for Mother's Day as well as it being Mother's day for my Daughter's. The staff were so accommodating, especially when I had my 6 Grandchildren with us. We all had a lovely time and wonderful food. Thanks again to all the Staff.

We had a great time at Babylon with my friends. The place has a relaxed setting. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The service was fast and efficient. I had the courgette and grilled hallumi for starters, and followed it up with the calves' liver. Food was perfectly cooked, well presented and delicious. Everyone else were happy with their foods as well. We enjoyed our dinner at Babylon and would be coming back. The food was excellent, the staff was friendly and the price was reasonable. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a cozy and satisfying dining experience.

Food good. Bad service. Basics. Seat people and see if they want a drink. Maybe some water. Keep an eye on your table. Walking past and ignoring it is costing you. We paid the service charge but no way was it justified.

First time I’ve been here & had wanted to try for a while - disappointed I have to say. Took ten minutes to get any menus despite tables seated after us getting theirs first - not good. Then I had ordered the eggs royale and a lady on the table next to us had ordered the eggs Benedict. They messed up when they delivered it to us and gave her my breakfast, and me her breakfast, which we didn’t notice until she had starting tucking into it. When I said I wanted my original order they said it would take 20 minutes - I didn’t have 20 minutes when my friend is eating her breakfast in front of me and we have two toddlers to get back for their naps! No apology, no money off - really poor. Won’t come again unfortunately- there’s other options out there with better service and to be honest the food was just okay, but the smoothie was nice!

Who knew that Babylon pancakes are just turned out of a packet ? I thought that the chef would at least make some batter. Disappointing that Babylon standards have dipped so low and charge £13 . This is a massive markup . The waitress wouldn't let me have it as a dessert portion when I asked and then we were asked to leave before the evening customers came in. What a shame .

Delicious food as always. Impeccable customer service. Always busy but well worth the wait. Been going for a few years and the consistency of quality and service has never failed.

I know that you should not judge a restaurant by how busy it is but if I had not made a reservation for breakfast we would not have got in here it was buzzing. Very good menu choice, lots to choose from, well presented food, tasty and filling with very good service, can get a bit noisy but that just adds to the atmosphere.

Food was delicious and menu extensive. A great find in Raynes Park. My friend and I sat outside and enjoyed the sunshine.

To the Manager: on 11 November 2023, we booked a table at 20.45pm. We have been customers for a long time, but we were quite shocked my that particular manager's attitude to us. The waitress slipped and some white wine went all over me, i was soaked on the right side. We are not blaming the waitress at all, accidents happen, but we blame tye manager's attitude. He did not come over and ask if i was ok, he left it to his staff who gave me rolls of paper to try and dry me, but there was no hot hand dryer in the loo so I just had to mop it up as much as possible. When it came to the bill, the waitress said "we've knocked off the tip"....that was so extraordinary!!! It is up to me to add or minus the tip, not for the manager! It was so very cheeky, as a tip is voluntary, so he gave us nothing at all, as he was assuming that we would have tipped anyway! It's up to us!! We said that to the waitress, and finally the manager came over, and I said we were unhappy, I said you could at least have paid for the dry cleaner abd right at the end he said he could do that, but we just wanted to go home and get into some dry clothes. He could have send up drinks on the house, he could have given a voucher for the dry cleaning without have been asked (Dishroom in london did that when something was dropped onto my neice and the manager immediately gave a dry cleaning voucher without having been asked! ). This manager did absolutely nothing apart from knocking off the tip which he had no right to do in the end as it voluntary anyway! No complimentary drinks, nothing. We are very disappointed and because of his attitude it makes us not to come back again, as he showed no respect at all. What a shame as the food is gorgeous and we love going there. The best breakfast in town! The entire menu is exquisite, catering to everyone. Excellent quality food, good size dishes, super friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I never have to wait long to be seated, they always try accommodate you quickly. This is my go to place for breakfast, lunch, dinner and afternoon coffee.

This is a great restaurant in Raynes Park, I went for the first time with a few friends for dinner mid-week. I had the Gambas Pil Pil for starter, grilled salmon main course, and both were delicious. Good, attentive service with a nice, friendly atmosphere in the restaurant. It gets busy, so pre-booking is recommended.
