First visit and loved it! Tried their lunch special- the bab bowl, it was delicious, good value for money and big portion.

Generic atmosphere and the food is overpriced for what you get. I came with a group of friends and everyone thought the food too salty, plus not many choices for vegan options. Staff was really nice though.

Really great food, I had the lamb shwarama and Greek fries.. I could eat the whole thing twice it was so good.. Only problem is the price, if I hadn't come here on a works meal I definitely wouldn't have visited. too expensive for the average person -- 2025 update, affordable but they seem to have changed their lunch offering and it's not as good anymore

Really enjoyed the food at Bab! We got the surf and turf and it was delicious and tasted super fresh. The pitta is also homemade and made on the day, tastes so good! Would definitely recommend!! 😊

Tasty perfectly cooked steak! Fat juicy prawns! And fresh bread really delicious the sides were also massive portions and really tasty like the halloumi bites and Greek fries! So good!

What a scam. Ordered chicken shawarma, the chicken was mushy had texture like tinned tuna and wasn't even properly seasoned let alone spiced like shawarma. The salad was cheap wholesale from a bag that you'd use for Italian salad, no attempt made to dress it or do an actual middle Eastern salad. The flatbread was an attempt at home made but bland and chewy. And all that for... £17. Honestly insane, you can go to an actual middle Eastern restaurant and get twice the portion and quality for half the price. I get that NQ rent is mad these days but really this just feels like a profit operation and they do not care about the food quality. Atmosphere and staff were fine but honestly would never recommend this place.

David was absolutely fabulous service was amazing and they were just so lovely I was out with my mum and we had the best time even when we were sharing a cocktail without asking they got us an extra straw it’s really the little things that make a good experience and we felt so cared for!

First time visiting and the service was outstanding, lovely staff. Food was delicious and the portions were very generous. Already thinking about going again soon.

Staff were very friendly and service was good but was so dissapointed at the food. we had 4 different dishes and none of us thought it was anywhere near worth it even at half price. the flatbreads seemed like they were shop bought, mushrooms were watery and all dishes lacked garnish. The chicken was nice but that was about it

This place is a little gem. The food is amazing, and the service. They go out of their way to help and change the food to your requirements.

The waiting times were ridiculous. 3 of us went recently and in hindsight we should’ve left and gone elsewhere. We waited 30 minutes for a drink, an hour for the starter and another hour for the main. Considering we went in at 615pm in a weeknight and it wasn’t busy yet didn’t get our order until 815pm was a joke. The main was literally a few greasy fries and leaves in pitta bread and was expensive. Our bill was over £200 - The face that we got charged a 20% service on top charge was a joke . Shocking. We shouldn’t have paid .

Came here with friends for a Christmas get together. Food was very good along with the beer. We had a vegetarian in the party and they were catered for. Would come again.

This is definitely not your average kebab house, the range of starters and mains was great. They were also very helpful regarding allergens.

“Walk ins welcome” according to their socials but I tried walking in a few weeks back and the place was empty yet they couldn’t find me a table as they were all reserved. So I went to mazaa in longsight and had a great kebab.

We came in during BABs bday week and were seated straight away by David, who was lovely throughout our meal. We had the lamb one and the chicken one, both were really tasty! Had a lovely evening and would deffo come back! Thanks David :)

Had the winter lamb kebab on the £6 deal. Unbelievable this could ever be £18. Manchester is a city with loads of great kebabs at low prices, and this is bang average. drinks too expensive and limited, music bad. Jesus wept

Went with a large group of friends (10), many of whom were vegetarian and vegan. I'm not, but am allergic to milk, and the server was very helpful in checking what contained milk products, and what could be substituted. Another friend doesn't like spicy food so was advised as to which sauce to swap for the spicy one that'd normally come on the meal she ordered. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, and although we arrived as a large group without pre-booking (N.B. you're not able to book online for large groups), we were able to wait 10-15 mins so they could fit us in. Prices were reasonable and the food was good, plus they had a good variety of drinks. Another friend joined us just for drinks a bit later. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

They have a private hire space downstairs, which is 11/10!!! DJ deck, bar, private toilets and lots of space. I was looking for a long time and randomly came across this via their other more bar-like location. Highly recommend.

Not loads of veggie options, but more than you would think for a kebab place! Definitely recommend the vegetarian sharing platter. The portions were all very generous, the staff were lovely, and they were very accommodating since one of our party has a gluten intolerance. Definitely coming back again!

We had a private event downstairs at BAB NQ. The food, service and drinks were absolutely fantastic. Special shoutout to David who went above and beyond to help us pull it all off, and was a great laugh throughout the night, and to Lisa who dealt with all of our questions. The space downstairs with its own private bar and toilets is fantastic, and a bit of a rare find in Manchester city centre. We will definitely be booking again. Thanks a lot :-)

Came here with my boyfriend last minute after a 3 year hiatus - food was just as delicious as the first time and incredibly friendly staff (not to mention the generous portion sizes.) We'll be back at the earliest opportunity!

If you like kebabs, the place is quite good, very far from prejudices about this type of food. It's delicious, very spicy but it's easy to eat. I took the "lunch offer" and in itself it is a filling dish. The atmosphere and service very good. You have a pleasant time. Advisable.

The waiters/hosts on Thursday, 08/08/2024 were very personable, attentive and friendly. Very accommodating for our dog who spilled water everywhere. Food was amazing. Gave us takeaway boxes due to the very generous portions. Worth every penny

Was there on a Monday evening. Delicious food and plenty of it, three of us shared a platter having had starters. Schwarma, patron peppers, flatbreads and other lovlies. Very nice hummus with sesame. Will definitely return. Pleasant and helpful staff I should add.

Incredibly limited drinks menu, everything in cans apart from a very small selection of around 3/4 different cocktails. The server desperately needs to learn some serious customer service skills. We overheard them pretty much growling at different customers and all whilst they had a mouth full of food! I have never had the experience of having my order taken whilst the server is munching a huge mouthful of m&m's and it is certainly not something I would care to experience again. Some staff training is very much needed!

Great evening meal, tasty food, good sized portions.

We held our sports club end of season awards night at Bab in the downstairs private hire room and had an absolutely brilliant time. Communication from the off with Lisa at Bab was fantastic and she, along with the team on the night, were always on hand to help + to answer any questions we had. The space itself is the perfect size and has everything you need including projector, screen, sound system and disco lights. We loved the private bar and the food was delicious. Having the room till 1 meant we had lots of time to dance after the main awards were finished. We'd recommend over-ordering on food- we went for the £20 menus but charged £25 so that we could order some extra portions. This meant people could have seconds or thirds and everyone was really happy about this. It's also worth arriving at the venue an hour or so earlier so you can get the layout how you want it, especially if you're planning to use the projector. Thank you so much Bab for having us + for making our End of Season so enjoyable!!

Had the lunch menu with lemon crispy chicken and the lamb zataar. Both were pretty average, the lamb was the better of the two. The chicken was well seasoned but the crispy batter let it down. There was just too much batter and it didn't actually make it crispy. The chips were pretty good though. The portion sizes were good for lunch and at the price, the quality is acceptable. Don't expect to have a life changing experience but expect to be full.

I hosted a work social here in their private event space downstairs. The space is great we used the projector for a quiz and you can put your own music on. The staff were fantastic! You have your own private bar and the food was delicious. Great range of items including tasty vegan options. Would highly recommend!

We were visiting Manchester for the weekend and Bab was one of the best reviews restaurant nearby. Greeting was friendly, table layout strange but ok. Taking orders was friendly as well. The food was barely ok. It was nothing special that would make you to go back there. We ordered sharing plate which was looking great on photos but most of the meat was shredded chicken with a strange flavour which we didn’t like and shredded beef. A very small piece of steak and some padron peppers & halloumi bites. If you still want to try this place we recommend you do not order sharing plate which is not cheap either £45. We can recommend house fries which comes with yoghurt ve feta which was tasty. Padron peppers were lovely and halloumi was good. Main courses were below average sadly.

Great food , great customer service and good deals! I went with two friends at opening time midweek. There were two other tables being occupied as well as ours so I can imagine this place could get pretty busy during peak times. It was decorated nice inside and everything was very calm and welcoming. We opted for the lunch time deal which at £10 was a steal! I ordered mine without chips though and asked if I could instead have more salad which was no problem at all. It wasn’t long from placing the order to it being brought to the table. There were a good selection of drinks on offer but I prefer to have my meals with water these days. (Check out the menu though) The service was great, the guy who took our order was really friendly and checked everything was ok in between service. I ordered the salt and pepper chicken bab which was full of flavour and honestly delicious! I think it would be amazing if they offered an alternative choice of bread as I would have LOVED it MORE if it was on a thicker, doughier flat bread or even naan bread. However it was delicious and I would definitely return!

We dined here yesterday using Manchester Confidential gift vouchers - I specifically checked when we arrived these were OK with it being Easter Sunday (which isn't a bank holiday nor was it excluded in the terms on the vouchers) the extremely polite server who seated us advised this wasn't a problem, and asked how many we had - so all was good! Drinks order was taken promptly, which were reasonably priced for Northern Quarter. We placed our food order - the chicken wings were lovely, hot and the sauce was tasty! My husband had the shawarma for his main, and I had the duck kebab - both were plentiful, tasty and both are highly recommended. The fun came when I asked for the bill.... it was at this point customer service fell way below what I had experienced up until that point! The server had changed and the female I asked for the bill quite rudely pointed at the phone I had the vouchers on, declaring, "nope not today, its Bank Holiday you're not using them" I explained I checked when we entered and was advised this was fine, to which she promptly turned on her heels and muttered well you shouldn't have been told that - followed by a call to someone on her mobile. She turned around, gave me thumbs up and came for the vouchers..... no "oh I am sorry I was mistaken" just a "well i didn't know they were accepted today"... bit of a sour ending to the meal to be honest! We still left a fairly decent tip as the food and experience up until that encounter had been well deserving of a tip, but I think i would ask for a note to be made on my booking if i ever attended again using a voucher to avoud being humiliated

The food is too die for. The flat bread dishes are so well conceived and executed. The side dishes were also lovely (though not needed, as the main is generously proportioned). The service was also excellent. Very, very highly recommended ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Biggest waste of money ever. Left feeling hungrier than when I came in. Food was so dry and tasteless, chips were cold and meat was cold. The bread was terrible, just tasted of flour. How is this place getting away with this

Pretty woeful experience. This is the third time I've visited since it opened. The service was slow, they got our order wrong and then said they didn't have anymore of the one we wanted. The kebabs every time I have been are so dry. The bread is dry, the meat is dry. Waited ages for staff and had to flag them down to ask for anything. Poor service. Only saving grace was the kids only pay £5 for (dry they said) meal and drink with ice cream (not so dry). Disappointing.

Bab is a lovely little eatery just off Stephenson Sq. Had the lunchtime special - one of their excellent kebabs with fries for a tenner - which in these times is pretty good value. Great attentive service and lovely food - highly recommend.

I recently visited a restaurant for the first time, lured by their enticing half-price January offer. We ordered four main courses: beef salad, chicken salad, lamb salad, and salmon salad. Each dish was remarkably fresh, and the experience of tasting their culinary creations was truly delightful. It was a joy to dine at this restaurant, discovering their delicious offerings. However, there was an unusual aspect to our visit. It appeared that the floor above the restaurant was undergoing renovations. As a result, vibrations from the construction work caused dust from the ceiling to sprinkle down onto our drinks and food. We even found traces of dust on our clothes. Despite this, the overall experience was positive. The quality and freshness of the food were exceptional, and the mishap with the dust didn’t significantly detract from the enjoyment of our meal. This incident was certainly unexpected, but it did not overshadow the quality of the food and the pleasantness of the restaurant’s atmosphere. It’s worth noting that this was an external issue, not directly related to the restaurant itself. I look forward to returning, hopefully post-renovations, to relish their cuisine once more in a more serene setting.

Style over substance. The food was average and took ages to come with a not even half full restaurant. Staff/service was a bit miserable when we enquired about some dishes and what they were like, and did not check back to see how the food was after it was served. Total lack of interest. My wife had the prawn and salad bab, I had the chicken shawarma (it was dry). My Greek fries had been accidentally contaminated with a very hot chilli (scotch bonnet). No apologies offered. The restaurant was also cold, we had to keep our coats on while eating. Overall disappointed.

A very generous business who always puts the customer satisfaction at first. Lots of customisation options to enjoy the food as you love. Highly recommend. The only suggestion would be to bring back the completely pulled meat instead of big chunks.

I ordered duck kabab, the presentation was good but the duck was mostly fat, nan was cold and dry. The loaded cheese chips were good tho but due to the cold and dark atmosphere it became cold quicker than expected. The quality of food got worse compared to when they first opened a few years ago.

Was quite disappointed with our experience at BAB. We only visited the restaurant because we heard about their 50% off, but even with that discount it wasn't worth it. Our food took half an hour to arrive, and when it did arrive it was drowned in very yoghurty tzatziki and the rest of the dish didn't have much flavour (we both ordered the chicken shawarma bab). The babs are very hard to eat and I'm not sure how it took 30 mins to prepare as the only cooked part was the chicken. Even leaving was a problem as it took another half an hour to settle the bill. The staff were very nice but it seems there were not nearly enough servers on shift- this is probably part of the reason for our long wait times. The original price of the Babs is extortionate- I'm really not sure how they can justify charging £15 for a flatbread with chicken and salad on it. You would have a more enjoyable meal at your local kebab shop. + not really their fault but we were sat at a window facing seat and the view we had was a guy doing drugs in the street, which wasn't the greatest atmosphere.

Been wanting to try Bab for a long time, January menu looked good and plus it was 50% off so we booked. Overall it could have been a better experience. The chips were bloody good chips well seasoned and nice and crispy, their sauces (we had the garlic lemon aioli and tomato manchurian) were amazing and their Korean chicken wings were some of the best we've had and probably the best thing about the whole meal. A few things that really let them down: the one Bab I wanted they didn't have (not such a big deal but disappointing); I had the chicken shawarma Bab instead, chicken was dry and the pitta wasn't a pitta it was a pancake it was rock hard, thin and tasteless, was expecting a lot more from a place that sells itself on "kebabs"; my partner had the non-bab which was prawns and steak, it wasn't cheap so was expecting good things but unfortunately the steak was very chewy and not evenly cooked my partner ended up leaving most of it; the prawns were very good and well cooked though. We thought all food was included in the 50% off deal but when my partner went to pay he was told his non-bab wasn't included in the deal - a bit of a kicker paying full price for steak cooked very badly. Maybe our fault for not reading the small print so lesson learned. All in all some good things but sadly we won't be back.

Went in for lunch today and got the lunchtime deal which I wasn’t actually aware off as I missed it 12 - 3 pm but was kindly told from my waiter. For what I paid it was very good value and the food was good. £ 22.00 for lamb kebab chips and a side salad with a pint 🍺 too good experience and my server made it for me

Shared the ‘bab sharer’ with my partner and got the greek fries upgrade — 10/10 bait. We’re both foodies so have high expectations and this did not disappoint. Would highly highly recommend this option for anyone that likes sharing!!!! Portion was absolutely huge, flavours max (the cola brisket was our fav, not sickly sweet which I was afraid of, just super flavourful meat). Genuinely can’t see how anyone could give a bad review here. Staff were lovely too. Thank you!!!

Myself , my boyfriend, my daughter and my Dad 'ate' here on Monday the 18th of December and it was easily one of the worse culinary experiences of my life. We ordered the festive meze platter to share as a starter , only to be informed they didn't have one of the products that was supposed to be on it. We accepted this and we were offered a larger portion of one of the other items on the platter , we asked for extra squid. When the platter arrived everything was bland and overcooked , and the 'extra' squid was 4 small inedible chewy rings. Then came the mains. My partner and I had been wanting to visit the restaurant for months after reading great reviews and seeing pictures of the food that looked incredible. Disappointment was all that followed. All four of our mains were very underwhelming and dry even with the extra sauces we had ordered. I wish this was the worst part of our visit but sadly it was not ! Mid way through our mains a MOUSE ran right through the middle of the dining room. We immediately stopped eating and I went to inform a member of staff and all I got was a huff. We were not the only ones who saw the mouse and the attitude towards paying customers was disgusting. I was told the mouse was in the restaurant because of ongoing building work above the venue had 'released them from the walls' all this signified to me is that this was not the first occasion a fury friend had been present. I was then told under no circumstances were there any vermin in the kitchen, if there are vermin in the seating area they will be everywhere. Absolutely horrendous we will never return, not only because of the severely overrated food but because of the utter disregard for the severity of my complaint.

The kebabs were very different from what you would expect, however that is what made them great. The hardest thing was choosing which main to go for and in the end all of them were fantastic as were the loaded fries. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We'll be back

We had our Christmas party here last night and the team absolutely smashed it out of the park. The night was brilliant, the team were fun and helpful from start to finish and the food was raved about. The place has a fantastic atmosphere and they guys honestly couldn’t do enough to help us. Massively recommend Bab as a place to visit for functions or just food. Came a few weeks ago with me a my little puppy and they were brilliant and attentive then. Thank you so much from all of us!

Amazing!! The food was great especially the mango and scotch bonnet wings, so crispy and sweet I loved them!! The duck bab also deserves a special mention, but not as special as our server David. He was great!!! Best service we’ve had for absolutely ages, he was amazing - give this man a raise !!

A v decent meal in the NQ. we had the surf & turf and seafood babs and shared v delicious chips . V generous portions. Seafood all tasted really fresh. Rated down from a 5 because the actual flatbread was pretty meh, dense and a bit soggy? The seafood bab could’ve had a bit more salad dressing on. Service was ok, didn’t give us a plate to put all our prawn ends on so had to put them on the table which is a bit grim?? And they didn’t check back or offer more drinks at all. Thankfully we didn’t need anything as the pinot noir was delicioousssss! And they didn’t add service on automatically which is good as it wasn’t that great!

This place is amazing, easily 5stars. The food the service and the atmosphere are lovely. I was recommended to come here and I am so glad I did. I opted for the lunch menu which is a bargain! Even out if lunch time the value is still very good. The lamb kebab was so nice with huge amounts of tender meat, the restaurant it’s self is lovely and relaxed and the waiting staff were just so pleasant. I’ve definitely found my new favourite

Edit: Had another go as they launched new menu and it was even worse than before. Crispy chicken bab (£15) - dry and barely chewable chicken, three small pieces, sauces completely tasteless, bab is basically a roti with no crips or taste to it. Hummus with lamb shawarma (£7) - regular hummus topped with tons of meat (more than in chicken main), unfortunately again super dry shredded lamb cooked days before and microwaved to order. Tons of crispy flatbread served with it - again super dry and tasteles. I wish they microwaved a cheap naan from Tesco instead of making their own inventions. The only thing I was satisfied with during previous visit - draft IPA wasn't fresh on this occasion with zero fizz to it. Waiter complained about not getitng tip to the chef before I even left. He was very kind, but food was absolutely terrible. Ordered surf and turf as that was the only gluten free main dish. Chips were nice but covered in excessive amount of sauces, steak was tender but cooked welldone - I wish they asked how I'd like it. Prawns were huge, but some parts weren't deveined properly and had unpleasant smell. Staff was friendly though and beer was excellent. I wouldn't recommend, especially for the price.

Wednesday afternoon at 6pm the waiter took over 15 minutes to take our drink order, bearing in mind there was only the 3 of us and another 8/9 people in there max. Once we ordered the food it took another 20 minutes for the shared starter to arrive during which we had to grab the waiters attention again to get another round of drinks. Starter food wise was good but the calamari was tough, not even chewy but tough? The halloumi peppers and mac and cheese balls were decent but then the mains were again tough. Service was generally poor and dishes were style over substance.

The one problem with sharing a review of this place is that you might find it and then there might not be space for me! Hidden down a NQ back street this little gem is well worth hunting out. Fresh, beautiful, flavoursome food, friendly staff and a beaut ambience! Check em out and I assure you you will not regret it!

Food whilst excellent, arrived cold. Raised with staff who were very apologetic and helpful (blamed on new chef being trained) the meal was quickly replaced and the food itself once cooked correctly was fantastic.

Nice spot for a fancy kebab. The lamb was very soft and tender. Quick service for lunch between 13:00 and 14:00

Brilliant little find, great food and cocktails

The bab sharer me and my partner got was really nice and very tasty, the portion size was great, we actually shared this between 3 of us and we still couldn't finish it! Staff were nice and attentive, happily made cocktails that wernt on their menu. There's nothing for me to fault really, yes it's quite expensive but for this area of the city centre it's not out of proportion to it's neighbours. perhaps the venue could do with being a little bigger as it becomes more popular but as we booked this didn't really affect us anyway. I will definitely recommend to family and friends, I will also be returning in the near future.

Nice place tucked away in NQ, just off Stevenson Square. Serving kebabs in a different way and with lots of different types and flavours. There's a good lunch deal where a selection of their kebabs are only £10 if you buy a drink (normally they're around £15). Massive portions for what you pay for too, but can be difficult to finish over lunch.

Not sure how this place has bad reviews. Best food I’ve had in a long while. Starters were amazing. Lamb kebab and brisket kebab were LOADED with tender, tasty meat. Flavours were amazing. 10/10

Absolutely fantastic food, service and an experience. Chilled ambience looked after and spoiled. Watched food being prepared and cooked, nothing was a bother. You have to go and try the food. Definitely going to go back & work my way through the menu 😋 xx tasty and delicious .
