Myself and my family had booked The Aviary weeks in advance for our annual Christmas Eve food and drinks outing and we were all looking forward to it. It was a first time for me to come here and as we arrived I was impressed with the decor and vibe. However, the young lady that greeted us at the entrance didn't have the best attitude which kind of set the tone for the day. After we were seated she came to take our drinks order, I asked if they had any mulled wine available and she didn't know so I asked her to find out. The other members of my party ordered cocktails but I was happy to wait to find out if there was any mulled wine. After waiting between 15 and 20 minutes she hadn't returned so we asked a different lady at the bar who advised she wasn't on shift but would make our drinks as she could see we had been waiting. Bearing in mind there was only us and 2 other tables in the bar. Our drinks came and shortly after the manager approached to advise that due to a leak they were unable to serve any food so she offered us a free round of drinks. Obviously we were a little disappointed as it was Christmas Eve but these things happen and the manager was very helpful and apologetic. I hate to leave negative feedback on someones customer service as I appreciate no one wants to work Christmas Eve but this wasn't great.

The Aviary is such a clean, beautiful, happy and funky place to wine and dine. It's absolutely spotless, the staff are so friendly and the service was incredible. I took my friend for lunch and ordered loads off the menu - Food, sides, desserts and a few mocktails so expected to pay around eighty pounds because the quality was there. I was so shocked when I had the bill and actually said 'wow that's really cheap.' It was like a third of the price I expected. If anything, I think for the quality of the menu the prices should be a bit higher. The place blew my mind so much I am booking my Son's Birthday event there. You won't get any better than the Aviary. It is definitely my new favourite place.

Had a lovely, atmospheric evening celebrating my birthday with a few friends. What an amazing choice of cocktails & drinks! The tapas were delicious too. Staff were friendly and attentive

I’ve been here on a number of occasions, sometimes 2-3 times in the same month with my partner, it’s one of our favourite places to go for alcohol cocktails and especially the food. The waitresses are so lovely and welcoming, the vibe is amazing, good music , the manager is absolutely delightful. Food is delicious and comes out piping hot. And it really is the life of Caerphilly. I would 100% recommend to anyone :)

I decided to pop to Aviary for a birthday cocktail. The interior looks nice, smaller than it looks on the website. Staff friendly but my cocktail wasn't great. I wouldn't recommend this place to be honest. The cocktail only tasted of pineapple juice and no fancy glass like on the website just a straw. Not a fan.

We had our first girls night at the Aviary on Friday and we have no complaints!! All of the cocktails were amazing and also great value for money (2 for £12 all day Sun-Fri). The staff were very helpful in recommending cocktails we may prefer! 10/10 recommend and glad to support local businesses!

Lots of mixers out of stock , service very slow , no atmosphere, made to feel very unwelcome as if we shouldn’t be there . Some cocktails ok , others really not what they were meant to be !! Made to feel like customers problem not bar staff . One member of staff very very rude and abrasive in his manner , he also kept staring at our table which made us feel even more uncomfortable. Food very mediocre ,poor value and appeared microwaved !! . Not sure what’s happened to this place very different to how it used to be with no idea of good customer service . Definitely nothing like the experience described on the website !!

If I could give less than one star I would. Avoid this place like the plague - Happy for you to just "leave a bad review" rather than try to accommodate their customers and have them spend more money. No wonder they couldn't pay their electricity bill! Bad management, bouncers are aggressive and demand you open your bag to check for "weapons" on arrival. Cocktails are disgusting and the prices are more expensive than a decent cocktail bar in Cardiff too. I don't expect them to change or even give a monkeys about this review as Thier manager was a 20 something year old girl with an attitude problem. No wonder the business is failing. Lovely decor though. Would not recommend.

Disgusting service from rude staff. The cocktail they served me was un-drinkable and when we complained the response from the manager was ‘it’s not my problem if you don’t like it’. They proceeded to charge us for drinks that were absolutely vile. Avoid this place like the plague!

Bizarre experience last Friday when we came for drinks after a meal. We had a booking from 10-12. The doorman was extremely rude and unwelcoming and along with the staff made us feel like we should leave so they could close early. They were turning people away from around 11.10pm-two large groups so they could close which left me and friend there on our own being glared at until we left whilst they switched lights off/closed blinds and lowered the music. We swiftly left at 11.30pm.The cocktail I had was not very nice and I didn’t enjoy it. I reached out to the owner on instagram to complain about the poor service and they didn’t even acknowledge it-poor customer service for a hospitality business especially in a small town where people talk. It’s very disappointing as only a couple of weeks ago they were reaching out to people to go there to support local as they had such a high electricity bill and were struggling. I would not recommend anyone to go here and urge you to avoid! I will not set foot in there again.

came in for a drink after work with my wife. our bill said that the bartenders name was Teigan. not sure if this is right. drinks were amazing. my wife had a bit of a cough and she brought water over without hesitation. i ordered an Old fashioned that was not on the menu but she made me one and it was delicious.

Came here for afternoon tea with the girls for Christmas. Waited an hour for a drink. I ordered berry prosecco which tasted cheap. £12 for two, shocking. This is Caerphilly not Cardiff. We had an allocated timeslot of 1.30pm and expected the afternoon tea to be served shortly after arriving. You know how us women starve ourselves all day before going out for food! Nope. We waited over an hour. All 12 of us. Another couple and their small child next to us getting equally as impatient. So the afternoon tea finally arrived. Complete letdown. Nearly £34 between two people. Looked like someone had nipped to Tesco, cut two mini picnic pork pies in half, two mini picnic scotch eggs in half, one scone in half (no joke), eight finger sandwiches (essentially 4 slices of bread), tiny slices of mini cheeses. Is there any need to cut a mini picnic scotch egg up in half?? Doesn't make it look more y'know. This stand was worth barely £5. £10 max! I know profit needs to be made but it was shocking. Terrible value. What world do we live in when a grown ass woman has to share a scone??? The clotted cream and jam took forever to arrive. I ended up eating my half dry 🤣. Our two hour timeslot nearly up. It was all very hurried. Why hadn't out afternoon tea already been prepped given that we had pre-booked weeks in advance? The staff told us they were a chef down. Word on the street is that they don't even employ a chef and the bar staff have to actually conjure up this food. First visit to the Aviary and in absolutely no hurry to return really sorry. Just an honest review.

Booked the “red nose reindeer “ afternoon tea with the girls. The place looked amazing and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and attentive. Everyone was so super friendly. Cocktails were gorgeous and food was beautifully presented - not the best quality ( store bought I suspect!) but super afternoon tea. Thanks Aviary

We visited the Aviary because they were advertising live music and two for £12 cocktails but when we arrived there was no live music and the waiter said they don't two for £12 cocktails on a Friday. They did honour the 10% off cocktail trees...

A friend and I went tonight and Jamie is an absolute darling! Nothing was too much, so polite, so attentive and the cocktails were amazing. We will be back

Love this cocktail bar, always friendly and welcoming staff and service. Booked to go in the new grottos for cocktails, delightfully Christmassy and with heaters and blankets it was cosy and cwtchy. Recommend the great range of cocktails here.

Been here three times since the lockdown ended and I must say this is an awesome venue with superb cocktails and excellent staff! I would highly recommend you visit! Cocktails on par with the Alchemist and a very well decorated bar with a great atmosphere....

This is the most amazing cocktail bar, regular patron since it opened. Never had bad service or a bad cocktail. Excellent and a brilliant place to visit for cocktails or coffee and cake.

Recently opened in Caerphilly this is a really quirky and fun place to go. They have a great selection of cocktails which are quite unusual and very moorish. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Will deffinately be visiting again.
