Only chippy take out in this busy country town. For a Tuesday night had steady stream of customers. Everything freshly cooked and place spotless. I just ordered a chicken breast and some thousand island dip. The chicken was crispy skin but succulent flesh. Enjoyed it and at £4.90 is fair price. I will call again when in the area. Try it.

I've used this chip shop more than once, the food is okay, but I wouldn't rave about it. I'm from Yorkshire and we know how to make a good fish and chips. The fish at Austin's is pretty bland, and more often than not the batter is hard, when it should be light and crispy. The battererd sausages are always overcooked. Austin's doesn't have any real competition, so that might be a reason why it's a basic chip shop. The 50p charge on orders below £10 is a bit of a cheek. Business is business. Rather than charging customers to use card payments, Austin's make plenty of profit to pay their own bank charges. All in all a basic chip shop, no frills and tough batter. 6/10.

It's been a while since our last visit and good to see a few decorative changes have been made and the place looks great. We were there mid week and the place wasn't that busy and easy to get a great seat at the window to be able to people watch and look around. Now the only issue I had with our whole experience was that the waitress had for some reason missed us entering the restaurant and after a twenty minute wait I had to go ask for someone to come take our orders but this is where the disappointment ended. The young waitress arrived and was extremely pleasant and sorry for the delay, promptly took our orders for food and drinks and went about organising our dining experience. I had ordered a chicken special and pint of milk to wash it all down and my wife had a steak baguette with all the trimmings and a diet coke. The drinks and cutlery arrived promptly followed minutes later with two wonderful looking plates of hot steaming food, and boy we weren't disappointed by the quality or the amount of food on the plate . We really did enjoy every last mouthful and had turned around what had started as a slow experience into one which I will be very happy to repeat in the very near future. Top class food and very good service and hospitality.

We sat down for a meal in Austins, we ordered Fish & chips, Battered Sausages & chips & a large pot of Tea. The girl bought us a very small pot of Tea, and I asked her was it for both of us, she replied that was the only Teapot available and when she had a bigger one, she would exchange it. On inspection there was One teabag in the pot, and we got 2 small cups of tea from it. The food arrived and the Fish & chips was okay, but the battered sausages were burnt beyond able to eat them, I told the girl, and her reply was ' Well I didn't cook them, and laughed and walked away. As I was very hungry I attempted to eat the sausages but scratched the inside of my mouth so badly I had to give up. My husband asked for our replacement pot of tea, and was told she would get it. After 10 minutes of waiting we gave up and went to the till. I took the sausages with me, and the Girl quite rudely said, ' we weren't going to charge for them anyway'. She told me the Bill was £6.90 for Fish & chips, £1,90 for the Pot of tea with 1 tea bag. and and £3.00 for the chips. I asked her she could charge £1,90 for 1 tea bag and she told me ' that she didn't make the prices'. Needless to say a terrible experience all round, we will NOT be back and will tell all friends and neighbours of this experience.

Been here quite a few times. Think everything we have got has been nice just a couple of times where the chips where slightly undercooked. Other than that I do think it's a little expensive. Will be back anyway if we fancy it again.

Austins is great, always good food - great fish and chips. Has a small seated area but at busy times can be crowded. Hard to beat if you fancy a chippy tea.

With new roads and roundabouts and traffic zooming past the town, Ballygawley village could easily be ignored...but those who live there and those who have for some reason visited, are rather smug and pleased with themselves, for they know its not just any village and they enjoy many pleasant aspects of the place...just like the nearby Sperrins range of mountains -undiscovered beauties, secret treasures...Trout in the river, Rugs and saddlebags all the way from Afghanistan for sale in Suitor Gallery -an amzing and delighful find after recently enjoying the marvelous SURVIVING TREASUREs OF AFGHANISTAN exhibition in the British Museum in London!!... Hints of continental dishes in Askin's restaurant, etc etc..this northern end of the CLOGHER VALLEY is equally and softly enfolded in a mantel of green as only Ireland has been gifted. And as you leave Austins after lunch or whenever, with the happiness of a satisfied appetite, you've a smile on your face and a humour to be nice to all the world......
