Arthur's in Carmarthenshire

Stopped here for Breakfast early one Saturday morning. English breakfast and pancakes with fresh fruit, local honey and Greek yoghurt. Pot of tea for two. Less than £20! Lovely sunny patio, good service and quality food. The menu was varied! Would return and recommend. Only negative is the outdoor furniture was a little unstable.

Good stop for a drink in this small town. Service good but staff a bit off-hand. Lunch menu is limited by staff shortages.

We had a lovely lunch and coffee at this fab restaurant. The food was so delicious and the coffee hot. Highly recommend and will be back soon.

So it would be unfair to say this was average but we would not rate as very good for a couple of reasons. Firstly there was just one waitress who did her absolute best to try and look after a very full restaurant but struggled and we felt sorry for her. My wife had a special of fishcakes which she said were excellent and a good portion. I had the scampi, which was ok but maybe a little greasy but that was maybe because it had not had time to rest as they were trying to get food out. Also the chips were very undercooked. My wife enjoyed her Pinot Grigio and we were going to have coffee and cake but waited 20 minutes and could not get the attention of the poor waitress so we decided to pay and go. I think we just picked a bad day so would go back as some of the other food coming out looked great.

Went to Laugharne to visit Dylan Thomas' house - memo to self, check the opening times before going - it was shut on the day we visited! Went to Arthur's in Grist Square for a coffee and cake. Made to feel very welcome and the food and coffee were great. Would certainly go again if we are in that part of Wales.

We visited as a family of 6 without booking. We were lucky to get a table as they were quite busy for a Wednesday..We had a selection of dishes between us which were all delicious..especially the home made fish and chips and local butchers pie of the week, lovely gravy ...a very good selection of dishes to suit all tastes and dietary needs considering that they are predominantly a seafood food restaurant ..excellent service, lovely and clean nice quirky decor. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others .diolch ..

My husband had todays special which was steak and ale pie with mash, peas and gravy for £15. The Pie was full of gristle and very tasteless. It was supposedly made by a local butcher but I doubt that because I live locally, buying from our butchers who make delicious homemade pies and this was not one of them. The portion of mash and frozen peas very small also. I am vegetarian and the the choice of veggie food was very small half of which was unavailable. So we cobbled a bread roll together with a bit of cheese and coleslaw. Sorry to moan as the staff were very cheerful and attentive.

We made a pit stop stop here for tea and toasted tea cakes. We didn’t want anything more on this occasion, but we noted that the menu was very interesting with many very tempting items on offer. Sandwiches were certainly not “run of the mill” and were very substantial, well-priced and, if we’d been hungrier, we’d have certainly ordered some. Our tea was nicely strong and our tea cakes very large and tasty. Service was efficient and friendly and everything was well-priced. It’s a great place. Highly recommended.

We were passing through and had no great expectations for lunch, so were blown away by this excellent little eatery (midway between a small restaurant and a cafe). The weather was glorious so we ate outside. Others have written about the seafood being first class, they're not lying. But a simple beef sandwich was glorious too. Great service, friendly people - what's not to like?

We joined friends in Laugherne yesterday (23\3\22) What can I say, lovely service great food (batterd monk fish tail scampi)The scampi was home made with a lovely crisp batter. A great homemade vegetarian Pizza, Scones jam and cream, chocolate cake and vanilla icecream etc Yummy five of us, drinks etc, just over £100, whats not to like? really helpful staff... Brill!

Outstanding seafood menu. Each dish was beautifully prepared and delicious. This is a comfortable but unpretentious restaurant with first class cuisine.

My wife and I were fortunate enough that Arthur's had just opened for weekend evening meals when we were looking for a place to eat. The food and service we're both absolutely great, so much so that we went back again for lunch a couple of days later (also very enjoyable). A real gem !

Stopped at Arthur's after visiting Dylan Thomas boat house, can't believe we haven't been here before! Food was absolutely delicious and jam packed with flavours! Definitely recommend, and will definitely visit on our next trip to West Wales

Went on a Sunday morning when they opened at 10. It was full within 5 minutes but it's possible to book. Great range on the breakfast menu. Staff apologised that food might take a while due to how busy they were but it didn't take...

Was looking for somewhere to eat and so glad we spotted Arthurs was open - it was their first time opening in an evening again. The food was delicious and service excellent. Highly recommended

The staff at Arthur’s are a riot! Often a place is made or broke by the quality of the staff and Arthur’s gets this right! Warm and friendly staff that know how to joke around + excellent food + damn good Irish coffees = 10/10...

My husband are I staying in Laugharne for the Easter weekend and ordered a takeaway pizza from Arthurs a few days before we come down. I had the Arthur pizza and my husband had the meat feast. We had chips and wings as sides too. Both pizzas were delicious and the chips were really crispy, just how I like them. I highly recommend and would happily order again if we are in the area.

Stopped by the cafe in the afternoon for some lunch after a long walk. We’ve had the soup of the day (broccoli & cheese), and the all day breakfast. Very lovely and flavourful, great atmosphere.

Lovely welcome by staff great coffee and cake. They had made a good effort to keep you safe within the government guidelines of COVID . Look forward to another visit

Amazing food and wonderful staff. Between us we had Cawl and Welsh rarebit both were fantastic. The stock in the cawl was so flavoursome. We went at lunch time but they also open in the evening. I’d recommend anytime of day as they do a wonderful range of cakes as well.

Pre booked a crab and lobster picnic box for Sunday lunch which ticked all boxes had a side order of whitebait along with it, both were beautiful,great place to eat all staff were very attentive 😍

We visited on a Thursday evening with the restaurant at maximum Covid capacity and were the last to sit down and the last to leave. We ate two different smoked salmon starters (tartare and carpaccio) followed by cod and halibut. Both dishes were excellent and even a week later I still maintain that the halibut dish was the best fish dish I have ever eaten. It was a playful and clever interpretation of fish and chips - a generous portion of expertly cooked halibut sitting on a tasty pea veloute with delicious chips and a nibble of garnish. Stunning. Desserts were excellent and there was a good choice of well priced wine. We've eaten there on previous visits and although the ownership has changed the quality remains excellent (with the emphasis on fresh seafood very welcome) and the staff work hard and cheerfully to give a good experience. A very memorable occasion.

We visited this lovely restaurant on Wednesday for lunch and had the tastiest lunch ever.. I had the Antipasti Platter and my partner had the Gourmet Burger.My partner said it was "The Best Burger" hes ever had. Perfectly cooked and nice and juicy. The presentation was excellent. Real care given. We enjoyed so much we booked for dinner on Thursday we wanted friday but they were fully booked. Evening meal didnt disappoint. Hubby had Gourmet Burger again! All meals were delicious. Cant wait to visit again. Staff were brilliant and the best covid precautions we've come across.

Fantastic fish Friday! We went on a recommendation both Friday and Saturday. Friday was better as they had more available. Oysters, amazing! Fish platter included lobster, crab, muscles and prawns! Fab service.

Fabulous food. Lovely atmosphere, attentive (but not too attentive) staff. Good social distancing and hygiene procedures in place and dog friendly! We had a lovely selection of seafood dishes - curried tempura oysters, moules marniere, super succulent mackerel with hazelnut butter were some of the starters we sampled; followed by prawn and soft rich lobster Thermidor and triple cooked chips. This was finished off with peanut butter panacotta served with a banana and rum milkshake, Eton mess and an espresso martini. All reasonably priced for the quality of the food and generous portions. Definitely worth a visit!

Wow.. if you haven't eaten here already you really should put it on your to must list of things to do. We ate here last night as a group of 3 friends.. we had such a great welcome from the staff and the covid safety precautions are on point. We all tried various seafood dishes.. if you love seafood this place is a must..I had the tempura oysters to start followed by the Arthur's take on fish and chips. Absolutely stunning. So fresh and original. Very creative ideas not your usual generic seafood dishes you tend to find .. they do have some of the old favourites mussels, lobster themidor.. I finished off with a peanut butter panacotta which was delicious.. not too sweet . ..the setting is lovely.. very cosy.. service excellent even though they were extremely busy.. obviously a very popular place.. we had tried to get in two weeks ago but this was the earliest we could get in.. so glad we did.. thanks we will definitely be back and telling all our friends what a truly wonderful experience Arthur's is ..

We visited on our last evening in Laugharne and it was the best saved till last. The place is small with a cosy atmosphere and attentive and helpful staff. The menu is imaginative and the food excellent, I had the ham hock terrine to start and the cod for main course , it was the best fish I have had since our move back to the uk from Ireland. The crust of pork crackling and herb was both unusual and really tasty. My husband had the prawn cocktail and the fillet steak which were spot on.The food isn’t cheap but it is excellent value for money, we will be booking in good time next time we visit Laugharne.

What a fantastic place to eat. A really full and extensive menu. Customer service was brilliant. We felt very welcomed and had a brilliant lunch. If you are in the area make sure you head to Arthur’s you won’t be disappointed.

Arthur's didn't disappoint! Fantastic food and generous portion sizes.Really nice ambience too.Also,the staff were so careful in relation to Covid hygiene practices and Track and Trace.You have to book and they are only open Thursday evening to Sunday. We found Arthur's Facebook page but couldn't find a way to book online. Fortunately we phoned Thursday lunchtime and were able to book a table. Arthur's is in the main square and just in front are Laugharne Castle and a beautiful view of the stuary. Enjoy!

Attended Arthur’s on a Saturday evening having read wonderful reviews. I was really looking forward to trying the fish dishes, unfortunately when we arrived we were informed many of the fish starters and mains were unavailable, this was really disappointing. I opted for the steak and my partner the Spanish burger- lovely presented food and very flavoursome. Staff were pleasant and we weren’t rushed. There was a nice atmosphere in a lovely location. I would visit again but book an earlier time to ensure I could sample the fish dishes

Went to Arthur's for the first time for an evening meal with friends and family after enjoying a breakfast there on my last visit to Laugharne a year ago. I started with scallops and celeriac which were fantastic and had a main course of Thai green fish curry; the curry was amazing, really tasty. I wouldn't normally eat Thai food unless in a Thai restaurant but this was so good I'm glad I did. Big chunks of monkfish and salmon with plenty of good sized king prawns. The sauce had just the right heat to it leaving my with a pleasant afterburn. I was too full afterwards to have a dessert (such was the generosity of the portion) but my friend had an Eton Mess which looked lovely. The place was full (covid restrictions allowing) and had a really good atmosphere of people enjoying themselves. I finished off with an espresso martini (a first for me) which was something of a revelation although I wouldn't recommend eating the coffee beans on top! Will definitely look to dine here again.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Arthur's. We were visiting the area for the weekend and after having a wander around Laugharne we decided to stop here after looking at the menu. The salt n pepper squid pulled us in!I eventually decided on the seafood box which consisted of a mix of squid, butterfly prawns & cod bites served with skin on chips, coleslaw and a chilli mayo dipping sauce (which had just the right balance of chilli in it) It was delicious, the batter/breadcrumbs were cooked perfectly.My partner had the Arthur's burger with chips,coleslaw and pea shoot side salad. After biting in and swallowing the first mouthful of burger he proclaimed that "This is probably one of the best burgers I have ever eaten!" (and he's sampled a fair few in his 40+ years of burger eating!) The burger was 10ozs of juicy beef patty, crispy bacon cooked to perfection with melted brie & finished with a super yummy chilli jam. I tried it so can also vouch for its deliciousness!Arthur's is a great place for a relaxed lunch. It was clean and run very well with all the covid restrictions in place. We'd highly recommend a visit.

We had a really great meal this evening at Arthur’s, I had the Arthur’s take on fish & chips a superb piece of halibut with prawns and cockles hubby had crab and our granddaughter and partner had a selection of seafood dishes. Everything was cooked and presented to perfection and our desserts were superb. The atmosphere and service was first class. Excellent value. We’ll certainly be back.

We visited as a party of 6 on a very busy Saturday Night. The lay out of the Restaurant for the current climate was spot on. The cleanliness and the health and safety steps they have in place are excellent . We all felt very safe and comfortable. Several of our party had different food intolerances and these were catered for extremely well in a very knowledgeable and professional manner. Now for the food We all had a mix of starters which were all delicious and presented beautifully. The homemade fish cakes and mussels were to die for. The tastiest freshest mussels I've ever had that sauce well let's just say I wish I could eat it every day. We all had different mains which again were all presented beautifully.. My partner has the fillet. He said it was the tastiest tenderist steak hes ever had. My dish Arthur's take on fish and chips, wow the flavours blew me away. Very original and creative . We wish we had a room for dessert but we will definitely be back.. the service was the best we had ever had . Definitely recommend this lovely restaurant.. Thank you for such a wonderful dining experience .

Excellent restaurant space, very clean x spacious. Good serving staff. Menu was vast although some of the special had sold out, so they should have been wiped off the black board ! Good portion sizes x excellent pizzas. Wasn’t cheap, but a good overall dining experience.

We had a lovely lunch here. 4 adults.Such a varied menu. The Thai crab cakes were delicious with unusual but lovely spicy mayonnaise. Caesar chicken burgers, large portion, fresh ingredients. Spicy Spanish burger, unusual and tasty. Ham and Mustard sandwich. Really tasty and again large portion. Lovely friendly staff. Also well organised for this time.

Went for food tonight and it did not disappoint, starters and mains were incredible tasting and really good service by all staff. 10/10 recommend will definitely be returning!

Arrived a little early and the restaurant was due to open at 1130. It was a rainy day and we were invited in a few minutes before opening time. The food was excellent with a good veggie option although I would recommend the all day breakfast! The only downside was the number of wasps trying to get at our food!

We returned to Arthur’s for the 3rd year running and had a great meal. Food and service always consistent.

We visited as a family of four to try the new seafood menu as we had heard such brilliant things about the place. The Arthur’s take on fish and chips looked absolutely gorgeous and tasted even better! Not to mention the creativity behind the dish! The deep fried prawns and cockles in a tempura batter were a very tasty and unique addition to the dish and were beautifully presented in a razor clam shell! It looked so professional and the taste was brilliant! The triple cooked chips that came with the dish were also delicious! If you’re looking for something that has a traditional fish and chip taste but with a brilliant new twist then this is the dish for you! Another member of our family had the seafood platter which again was presented to such a high standard and was packed full of tasty and fresh shellfish! This place is definitely worth every penny! The restaurant caters for the non fish lovers as well with a delicious homemade pizza and burger menu! We will definitely be returning regularly and I would strongly urge everyone to support this new seafood restaurant that offers something new to the area! 100% recommend!

Oh my days what a place. The food, the staff, the ambiance excellent. You could not ask for a better place to eat. Portion sizes very good, value for money very good, flavours and taste amazing. An extensive fish menu, a burger and steak menu and for the kids pizzas that sound and look amazing. I did hear a family say they were lovely whilst we were there. We had prawn cocktail ( no not your 70s version) this was lush with a kick. Fish cakes that were packed with fish, then fish Thai curry that was packed with fish and flavour. Do yourself a favour and visit you won’t be disappointed.

We had heard good things off friends so booked in for a lunch and wasn’t disappointed, we ended up ordering 5 meals for 2 people because it all looked so good and waddled out.. Very fresh and incredibly tasty!!

Called in yesterday for a quick bite to eat and a refreshing drink an route elsewhere. So glad we did. A lovely welcome, including for our little dog - prompt and efficient service and excellent Welsh Rarebit. We will return and hopefully will have time to stay a little longer.

Seven of us - adults and children - went to Arthur’s for lunch. Here is our feedback:- the service is friendly with a smile. Our children were made very welcome.- the food was delicious. Our choices included one of the specials (the curry), the Stilton & Steak pie, Steak & Ale pie, BBQ chicken wings.- the coffees, cappuccino, tea were excellent.We warmly recommend this place.

Small restaurant/ cafe where the food is of excellent quality, the atmosphere is good and the service unbeatable. We had the crab and lobster burger which was delicious and came with chips and salad which were extremely good. It was not expensive. Dogs are allowed which is good.The only downside to the place is that, at present, payment is by cash only.

This cafe/restaurant looked great as soon as we opened the door, and everything lived up to expectations. Here for lunch, we went for a various panini, all of which were really tasty. The staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

Found this place by chance while planning a party. Cosy and friendly and lovely food. So booked this restaurant for my mother's surprise party. Excellent communication with the staff via email for menu and the addition of extra guests. Food was fab with a wide choice of meals which catered for all types of diets. Staff couldn't do enough for all the guests. Everyone enjoyed their experience, especially the guest of honour!

Having popped in for morning coffee we booked to go back for an evening meal. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food was very good. An enjoyable evening.

As regulars to Laugharne we were really looking forward to eating at Arthurs as we had heard such good things and it always looks so inviting from the outside.

Dear oh dear. This restaurant was cold, seats were hard. Crab cake starters were from a frozen pack, no flavour. Tarragon chicken main was tough and the whole dish was totally overpowered by far too much tarragon, it was virtually inedible. 2 medium rare steaks were tough, not rested, grissly and bleeding out across the dish and served on a wooden chopping board, taking care not to allow the blood and juice to drip across the table. Coleslaw was lousy. Asked for a Martini nope, no Martini! Won't be back under any circumstances.

We had a good evening meal here and the staff were friendly and helpful.Only spoiled by hot food on cold plates.

We had to leave our accommodation at 10 so called in Arthur’s on the way home for breakfast. We all had a big breakfast and it came with a drink and toast. Was a really nice breakfast. Staff were really friendly and it was only £5.50. Will pay a visit next time e are in laugharne

We have recently visited when on our holiday at Pendine Sands and after reading the reviews we thought we’d give it a try. This place is definitely a hidden gem, we visited twice on our holiday!! The burgers are exceptional and the ploughman’s was the best I have ever had!!! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant also looked beautiful with the fairy lights, every inviting.

Excellent restaurant serving a wide menu all well prepared and served by friendly and efficient staff. One of the few restaurants in Laugharne open on a Sunday evening for a decent meal. We booked as a party of six and had a really great meal. Thanks to the front of house friendly staff.

Called in after a long walk, lovely friendly staff, great coffee. Nice menu choices. We sat outside on a sunny October Sunday.

Amazing restaurant , very friendly polite staff providing perfect service, very reasonably priced for fantastic food the cheesecake was amazing highly recommended. We have enjoyed both breakfast and dinner here and both were faultless keep up the good work

Sitting in Arthur's now having just had a wonderful breakfast very very nice food we are coming back tonight for dinner highly recommend this place, great food, nice friendly staff.

Service was very slow and the scone, freshly baked I was told, was rock hard so a great disappointment

Eaten in this restaurant on too occasions this week, whilst on holiday.Both times the food was excellent,relaxing atmosphere,staff very friendly.We highly recommend this restaurant,try it you will not be disappointed.

We went here because we had a voucher. We did not read the reviews. 9 people sat down to dinner and ate. The variety of food was great and everyone enjoyed the meal they had. The salad was lovely as it was conbined with a beetroot sauce, the all day breakfast, childrens meals.burgers etc were large portions and went down well. The service was excellent and I would visit this place again. The price was great because we had not realised the children's meals were free! An added bonus at the end!!
