We went here for a wedding reception. The food was average, nothing special. The ambience was good. I wish the place had better lighting. We couldn't take a decent picture anywhere. Service was very good. We were a big table and were regularly being asked whether we needed our drinks topped up. Staff were friendly and polite too

The staff are such gentlemen always offering to help and constantly asking if everything was ok. Visited with the family, it was abit quite and cold inside but we where able to choose where we wanted to sit. One staff member told us he was gonna re heat the food up for us so it’s nice and walm which I found really nice. They have a huge meat variety, there afghani boti, naan and pizza are really good. It’s really good when you go when it’s busy and they food taste a lot more nicer. They desserts are pretty good they usually have one Asian dish, ice cream and a cake. It is a really nice place to come with the family if you like buffet as it’s only £10 a head.

This restaurant is a very good set up, great service delivered by staff who take pride in their food being genuine Indian food. Rather than English type curry. They spent time talking to us about it which only makes you appreciate it more. The food itself was of a good standard and all my table (12) thoroughly enjoyed the night.

I honestly try to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt but i think the reviews speak for themselves. The food sometimes served are leftovers, non-fresh and reheated which is extremely worrying. The state of the kitchens where foods such as curries, rice and the meats are cooked from is despicable (dirty pans everywhere) and have no signs of food hygiene certificates visible. I do not usually do reviews but felt as though the public need to know.

Visited last month and it was a disappointment. There wasn't any food and whatever leftover was there was old. Kids wanted Pizza but there weren't any. There wasn't biryani instead was just plain rice and even those were inedible. We complained to the only waiter running around and his excuse was that all of sudden a party of 30 people came so they couldn't cope for it. He also said we could have gone to cooks and could have asked them to cook fresh ???? Really, we did tell you a couple of time. Very disappointed !!!!

The restaurant is situated on the Sheffield in bound Attercliffe Road and is easily accessible with its own small car park outside off the road. Plenty of on street parking on the main road too. Nowhere near anywhere else food or entertainment wise, Arooj is somewhere you go to with intent.Generally speaking buffet type restaurants are a bit uninteresting, with boring, dry and often long past their best dishes. Not Arooj. Frequent rotation of freshly prepared dishes, a fair range if a little short on vegetarian choice and superbly light and fluffy naan make for a refreshing change from the norm. Of special note the lamb dishes, served traditionally on the bone, plus the Lahore Fish. The food has a nicely traditional Pakistani feel, with a good balance of spices.Clean and spacious, the plates are warm, as is the welcome.Best of all is the value. £10 a head, and glorious Mango Lassi at £2 for a huge glass (also available by the jug). They don't have an alcohol licence but you're welcome to bring your own, there's no corkage charge. All in all, difficult to fault and worth going out of your way for, and even if by taxi, its well worth it.

Been to arooj a few times now and it has got better every time! The starters are to die for, especially the white chicken which has an incredible deep flavour. The currys are very nice, I'd reccomend the butter chicken. some of them are a little authentic for my taste buds, I'm really in to most currys but I'd like to see a chicken masala or maybe a bhuna because most are names I've never heard of before and are really strongly flavoured. I'm not a sweet person so it'd be unfair for me to rate the deserts. Overall a very good buffet at an amazing price and will be attending again very shortlyManager is a very nice guy who took the time to talk me and my partner through each curry dish as we was unfamiliar with the names and what they consisted of.I mentioned my love for lamb chops and he happily asked me to give him a few days notice before coming, so he could marinate some and get them ready for my meal. This is what customer service really is! I've read some comments on here about how the starters and naan breads can often run low or completely out, I noticed this too but please remember guys this is somewhere that's trying to re establish its self after a disaster fire. I personally understand that they don't want huge amounts of wasted food so they try and cater for who's there at the time and not an army of people. Josh + iona

We chose this restaurant because it was a buffet. The reason we go to buffets so we are not waiting around for food. The restaurant opens at 5 and we got there at 5.45. There were 6 adults and 4 children so it took the waiter about 5 minutes to get our table sorted. While we stood behind him. We got seated and sat there for about 10/15 minutes and finally a young girl came with the drinks menu and disappeared again. So we waited again for a bout 15 minutes and at this point the kids were frustrated. So I asked waiter is it ok if we go get our food and he said '2 minutes because the fish starter is still getting made' baring in mind it was 6pm now. 10 minutes later we were all still sat there. Then finally we went to get food only to realise there was barely any starters there. There were a few pieces of fish, roast which looked like it was yesterday's and even then there was only 4 pieces in there. Some vegetable spring rolls and some chicken tikka. Wasn't happy at all with this and felt totally let down because we had guest who were with us. If this wasn't bad enough when we went to get the mains there was no naan left at this point I was so annoyed and disappointed with this place. So because of this never returning. The desserts were rubbish. Kids wanted ice cream and they had only 3 flavours but listed about 10. They had a rainbow cake there which tasted like it was about 3 days old. I can't believe how bad this place was, we are going to stick to Aagrar at crystal peaks who have the best service and food is always topped to the max n the best desserts. This place needs new management who knows how to run a buffet restaurant. The place also feels like a school canteen. Overall very disappointed! Even my 7 year old said she is not coming back here half way through the meal!

Very good customer service. Very helpful friendly and respectfull staff.Ambience a bit lacking. Decor is very clinical. Lighting is cold so not a place for a romantic evening. No heating in toilets. After stuffing myself silly I went to the loo (to make some more room for dessert) only to have a sneezing fit because it was freezing in there.Moving on. The starters were very good as was the choice of salad stuff.Main courses were disappointing due to an increasingly popular problem affecting many establishments lately. The companies that are supplying powdered spices to restaurants in the UK are lacing every product with huge quantities of salt to stop clagging, increase shelf life and ultimately hugely increase their profit margins.Asian chefs who are for the most part trained in Asia are oblivious to this because they are so close to the product and do exactly what they would do back home where they use proper pure ingredients. The result is an extreamly salty end product. The main courses at this restaurant definitely suffer from this problem and the management need to address this issue as a matter of urgency.I went to this restaurant with two vegetarians and I have to say the buffet did not have much choice for them. When we commented on this fact the staff prepared an additional spinach and potato dish which was very nice and not too salty either. This was provided for no additional charge. The deserts at this restaurant are very good. The best Halwa (A sweet carrot based Indian desert) I have ever tasted in fact. The other items were also very good. A pleasant surprise was the choice of ice cream flavours which went really well with the halwa. In all a reasonably good dining experience spoilt only by the huge salt content of main courses and freezing toilets.

First time I went to arooj was back in august, very wel priced and fabulous service, variety of food is amazing, sooo much food and all you pay is £7 per head. Best meal I had there was the chicken tikka, I also loved the ice cream for the kids that was nice for them, pus food wasn't very spicy, but they had plenty of dips and sauces to spice things up. I also loved the fact that the manager was there present too making sure customers were well looked after, I will definitely be going again in December for my xmas meal, for dessert I loved carrot cake, it was lush! I also like the fact that staff there aren't very pushy and just leave you to it and keep walking around so if you need anything you can quickly ask them, I stayed there over 4 hours with family but loved it to bits! I came here with a large group for Eid and loved the restaurant. The atmosphere was good, the tables were clean and food was better than average. The best food were the starters. In particular the lahori fish and the white boti. They were the tastiest starters of the lot. The fry boti, seekh kebabs and curly fries were also very nice. Only downfall was the fries as they were too hard, cold and burnt. The main course were mediocre. The chicken tikka masala was a disaster and chicken balti could have been a lot better. However, I highly recommend trying the lamb korma and chana daal as they very good. Also the nan were very cold and rubbery. On the other hand, the desserts were very good but needed a bigger variety. The ice cream was top quality and the cake was scrumptious. There was sweet rice but it was cold and had no flavour. There was a very very large variety of sauces such as mango chutney, garlic mayo, mayo chilli sauce, plum sauce etc. The service at the restaurant was quite poor and could have been better as they required more staff. One of the best thing of all was that the drinks were not watered down and worked out to be quite cheap. Normally restaurants would water down the drinks but this restaurant didn't. The price of one jug of coke was £5 and two for £7, which I personally think was cheap. Overall, I think it was a good experience and would recommend it to anyone thinking of coming here. I do think it needs work doing to the place but overall was quite good. It was better than what i expected. You can't get a buffet for £7.99.

Staff very friendly and helpful. I called ahead to see if we needed to book a table and said just arrive, plenty of seating when we got there just after 9.00 pm. So many choices of food for a buffet starting from salad and chutney, to the naan bread, chips & curly fries, lamb korma, fish or veg pakora, even though i didn't know the main dishes i tried little, everything was cooked perfect, meat just melted in your mouth. Fresh fruit was provided on the table if you wanted it along with jugs of water and replaced it regular but drinks were fairly reasonable too. The buffet is £7.99 pp and very well worth it. I shall certainly be going back for more visits and recommending to friends and family.

Having been invited along by a family member, I was initially sceptical as our tastes tend to vary and my scepticism was heightened as we walked in to what appeared like a busy works canteen. However, first impressions can be misleading. Having been seated in the main area (again a bit canteeny, although private booths are available) I was pleasantly surprised by the range of dishes that were available, ranging from the typical chicken tikka through to more authentic cuisine (including my first taste of offal curries). The service is buffet style and, importantly, the food was kept hot and regularly refreshed. And all at a very reasonable price.

We went here as a group of 9 and sat in one of the alcoves, on reflection this might have been an error because it meant everyone had to stand up to let you out. The other alternative seating arrangements are generally based on an open plan layout which don't offer the intimacy of the alcoves, so it's swings and roundabouts in that respect. The food at this establishment was very tasty but, some were a tad spicy-hot so another case of swings and roundabouts depending on which dish you tried (and that's a good thing about this place, it's a buffet meal arrangement, so you can sample as many dishes as you like). It is a large place surrounded by industrial-looking surroundings, but let's be honest your not going to sample the views - you're going for a meal, so don't let the location put you off. In terms of parking, the car park holds about 16 - 20 car parking spaces but, there is some availability of on-street parking close by. If I'm honest, I think I would have preferred to have seen 2 or 3 more vegetarian dishes perhaps saag aloo, a choice of daal and maybe a mixed vegetable balti. Overall however, a really nice experience, nice food and excellent value for money. Would I go again? you bet your bottom dollar, I'll be going again. If I could make a few suggestions to the management it would be 1 - add a few more vegetarian dishes (perhaps those that I've mentioned above), 2 - introduce some privacy screens in the open plan area, and 3 - negotiate with some of the adjacent businesses to use their land for additional car parking (particularly in the evenings when the adjacent businesses are closed).

This was the most disgusting food experience today, May God forgive me !! Horrible food, no comprehension of dishes apart from "Paya & Haleem" which were authentic. Apart from that........... Sorry, I had a very bad experience.

Came here using a deal monster voucher. Greeted by the man on the car park, which then guided you into a space, where your car is observed throughout your in the restaurant. Lovely food, the best mixed kebab ever. You can actually watch the chefs preparing and cooking the meals. This all looked very clean with good hygiene standards. The main course were very nice. The meat in the dishes was nice with a good tasty sauce. The staff are very friendly and chatted to us about how we like the strength of our curries. The girl on the reception bar area, I feel has top marks for her lovely personality that I thought was outstanding. All in all a very lovely evening, and will definitely be back.

Me and my boyfriend decided to go here on New Year's Eve as everywhere else was fully booked. We are not from Sheffield so we didn't know what it would be like and thought lets give it a go. When arriving, the place looked okay. The design and building was good and large. However the food was not very nice and we would never recommend to any one especially those of an Asian background to eat here also we were the only customers In the place. The food was bland and the waiter did not fully understand what we asked for. When asking if he had any "moose" for the desert, he replied and said "what juice?" And we said no and he still put the juice on. After we ate what we could we didn't feel too well at all. Please don't go here if you like your food with flavour.

We went here as we had a dealmonster voucher. If we hadn't had a voucher we wouldn't even consider it as it is away from anything else and doesn't look eye-catching from outside. Don't let that deter you. The food is excellent. Food is nice and spicy and contains plenty of meat. I recommend the mix kebab as a starter. The sheek kebab is the biggest one I've had and tastes fantastic. It is also spicy which pleased both of us. The mixed kebab was almost a meal in itself. The stainless steel kitchen is open plan and good personal hygiene and safety practices of the chefs was observed. The kitchen appeared very clean which gives you added confidence. We had chicken ginger and gosht aloo. Both different and both full of flavour. The manager explained that the food is cooked to an authentic Indian style which we simply had to agree with. Only one minor point - it could do with a bit of background music, but that didn't deter from a fantastic culinary experience. We will definitely return.

This is the second time we have visited this indian. Now being fair this is not the most amazing indian I have ever visited. However it is very good. It doesn't look like much from outside and it's so far away from everything else that you'd be forgiven from driving past it.The food is very nice and there is quite a wide range of choices for vegetarians. Also the portions are very generous and it is very good value. We will definitely keep on visiting!

We went here with a voucher from one of those websites so we could try it out and if it turned out to be rubbish we didn't folk out alot of money. The food was great, the service was fab and would highly recommend. Prices are also good for the surroundings. This is by far the best curry i have ever had. We will be returning.

Overpriced especially for the quality of food. Soggy chips, not real spice even though it said it was spicy, it’s just mid not even mid it’s below mid. Chilli prawns weren’t even Chilli prawns!!!! It’s was dry no spice on it and it was covered in batter.

I would normally rate 5*, but recently we have found food to be no so good, changes to some products, that fall short of usual standard...such a shame as previously been our first choice for a takeaway.

You must try their Chinese food, it’s amazing and better than other popular restaurants around. Their service is super friendly and kind lady added soup and serve us fruits for free.
