Went early Sunday evening for my wife's birthday beautiful food and excellent service the staff couldn't do enough for us especially gabby who really looked after us. We will definitely return soon.

We regularly travel over to this restaurant from Derby and always enjoy the experience, However on our last visit we was left feeling a little disappointed with the quality of service, We ordered 3 meals and was only served 2 , We had to wait for well over 5 minutes for the 3rd meal to arrive , then we asked for parmesan cheese for 2 of the meals, it took 3 requests to finally get it , we asked for more napkins, never arrived , Then when we asked for the bill and my partner was going to have a coffee before we left but we gave up after 15 mins and went pay at the bar , , The food is always amazing and the service is normally spot on, but pn this occasion we felt let down ..

Do not go here if you have allergies or intolerances. I went there yesterday, I have an intolerance to gluten and dairy. The staff were useless and unaccommodating. We ended up leaving and getting food else where. Never did I think I would hear phrases like “Choose wisely” (when picking gluten free pasta dishes and she wasn’t sure which ones were dairy free so apparently that was up to me to know) “Can’t you have it with no cheese” (when I asked if they did vegan cheese for the pizzas) “Yeah…I’m sure they will be gluten free”. The staff had no clue at all!

The restaurant is lacking is terms of really authentic Italian menu options, as well as atmosphere. But the worst thing was being served undercooked chicken and then being offered a £4 discount for it. Either apologise and/or discount the entire dish. You simply cant serve undercooked food and not own up to it properly.

This was a great find whilst visiting for work. The food was delicious, and the waiter was friendly and welcoming. Homemade tiramisu to finish as well. It's definitely worth a visit for anyone in the area!

As holiday makers nearby we ordered a takeaway and we were both so impressed by the food. My prawn starter was delicious and the prawns were huge! The pasta dish we each had was equally delicious, hot and tasty and generous portions. When we return to Skegness we will definitely choose you again 😊 Thank-you

First visit, very good food and service

I came here with my partner and a couple of friends (Party of 5 people), and was seated almost immediately at 7pm. The waitresses were very attentive to all customers in the restaurant, including ourselves, and ensured that orders were taken in a timely manner, without expecting you to know what you want immediately. We weren't waiting too long on food to start coming out either, which was a plus, as from ordering and between courses, it was roughly 10-15 minutes between them. The food came out piping hot and fresh, which was great. 3 courses each, and 2 drinks at this restaurant, set us back roughly £30-35 each, which is very good for the quality you are getting from here. I would highly recommend eating here if you are looking for a nice evening out without breaking the bank. The atomsphere is amazing, the staff are great, and the food is fantastic.

We went on a Sunday early so not many in so quiet atmosphere but the restaurant is really clean and beautifully decorated. We were a bit anxious about going as after my partner booked we heard bad reviews but the food was delicious perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The waitress was very attentive and helpful . We will be going again

Appalling meal So disappointing as been going years come back Mario !! Best part of meal the mint at the end !! Bland tasteless slimy food cold and like waiting for Christmas overpriced overcrowded and same bland sauce for every dish never again !

We booked a table for half 6. It was around 7:45 when our starters were brought out. We then waited until just gone 9 for our mains. 2 and half hours waif for our mains is just ridiculous. By the time we got our food, most of our group didn't really want to eat because it was too late. The kicker was that other groups came in after we'd had our starters, and finished their starters and mains before we got ours. We ended up taking most of our food home with us. May as well have ordered a takeaway

We went for a birthday meal for my husband and mother-in-law last night. Our table was booked for 6:30 and we were a party of 8. It took us an hour to get our starters and we didn’t receive our main meals until gone 9pm. When asked about the wait for food, we were just told that the restaurant was busy and they were doing what they could. There had been no mention at any point in the evening of the wait for food. When the food did arrive it was nice but by the time we received our mains at gone 9pm, we didn’t really feel like eating and took a lot of the food home with us. A 2 and a half hour wait for food isn’t really acceptable, particularly when other tables were served considerably more quickly. Even as a table of 8, we had ordered our mains and starters together at the beginning of the night so they had plenty of notice. We were not the only table complaining of the wait at payment, seems like it was a recurrent issue last night.

Very disappointing, after waiting 1 hr 35 mins for meal ,it was very bland ,(all 5 meals) asked for a water for table they brought it but no glasses had to ask twice more , the 2 tables near us waited longer

The food is lovely the staff are welcoming and friendly, the price's are reasonable. My favourite bit is that the kids get to choose off the adult menu and portion appropriately.

Went for a meal last night and was well impressed . We had a starter of garlic bread with cheese and when it arrived it was the size of a pizza😀. The main meal was outstanding . No room for pudding after this .

From sitting down to getting a meal.1 hour 30 mins elderly grandmother had to have her put into a doggy bag and take her to have it Sunday as it was too late.. the food was bland no taste no spices no brown peppercorn could not understand cream sauces we're just the linguine tasted like bleach so you need to get it right in their chef's attention to detail and taste there were ten of us 8 adults two children but we won't be coming back until we hear it's better😭😭👩‍🍳👩‍🍳😭

First-time visiting and was amazed by the Lovely food, not many people in aswell as it was a week day.

First time ever going here and I wish I had it first day of the holiday as I would be here every day… we ordered a variety to try not realising the portion sizes are huge which is amazing, we end up leaving with take out boxes because there was so much. All good is made and cooked at time so can alter what is in it if you don’t line something. The pizza is fantastic (it is homemade and baked In authentic pizza oven) it was all amazing couldn’t recommend any more! Will be here next time we come to Skegness. Thankyou guys so much!

Went several times when it was marios and food was always top notch, tonight im afraid not so mussells to start were poor quality sauce lacked seasoning ...i never add salt but had to and lots of it. My main was ok ( meatballs) but my wifes salmon pasta was not cooked enough some pasta was hard and some salmon still raw however the pizza we had to accompany the meal was good .poss not be going back 😏

Not best, I'm afraid. The food was nice, and the antipasti starter was very good, but putting red wine on the table when the house white was ordered ? Mains were very nice, too, but a panacotta that a knife and fork couldn't breakdown, wasn't good/rejected. "Was everything ok ?" we were asked as we paid. Not exactly an appropriate enquiry under the circumstances I'd suggest, especially with maybe 6x tables in use through the time we were there, not exactly busy. I'm inclined to think the number of reviews/comments on here (at present ~550) are related to the restaurants former name, Mario's and not the current setup (Aroma).

Ordered a chicken dish but it when it came some of it was still raw ( uncooked) . Was offered another meal or dessert in replacement.

My wife and I visited last night for her 40th birthday, it was brilliant very tasty food and the staff are fantastically helpful and polite they did everything to make our night special, will be definitely visiting again with the rest of our family 😁👍👍👍. Sorry but this feedback is needed. I believe there has been a change in ownership. Food has gone downhill, some of the items I have eaten there I could have made better at home. The food I ate there was literally as if no effort was made. Please improve and get to the standards of the previous owners.

Wow!!! What a gem of a place. We'd already looked at places to dine 🍽 the previous day and had decided on here. We were not disappointed. Starters: 1 x Bruschetta and 1 x Salmon Bruschetta. We both shared and were equally pleased with our choices. Mains: 1 x Steak with vegetables (M-WD) 1 x Pasta Carbonarra with side salad 🥗 😋 It was absolutely delicious We were so full we couldn't manage anything else. Will definitely call again when we're in the area

Service was not great. Pasta was ok. Steak was not done to preference, but was tasty. Wasn't offered a dessert menu.

I have just left this restaurant never feeling so humiliated in my life by the rude waiter. He walked past and slipped on something by my table to which he looked at me and commented "some people " He then returned with a bit of tissue to wipe the floor and gave me the most disgusting look ever. I cannot however fault the food but I would certainly never ever return to this restaurant with an attitude of a waiter like that !!!

We had a very good meal and the service was outstanding. It was a very busy night too. We asked for something off the menu, unfortunately could not accommodate us, BUT on our way out the chef said if we got in touch a couple of days before he could make sure we have exactly what we wanted. First time at this lovely italian restaurant, lovely atmosphere, not feel rushed like in most places these days, staff couldn't do enough for us, very clean and tidy, will definitely be visiting again. Small car park at side for restaurant use.

What an absolute gem of a place. I love Italian food and this was the best Italian meal I have had in a very long time. Cooked to order, tasted fantastic and very generous portions at a very very reasonable price. Staff were attentive and polite. Absolutely 10/10 - fantastic.

Here August Bank holiday - visiting for the day and we hadn't booked so we appreciated it was busy and they fit us in. That's about the only good thing to say. My partners parents accidentally went to sit at a table that wasn't ours, and the waiter was so rude, rolling his eyes and exclaiming "that's not for you!" From then on, the staff were rude the whole meal. I could list about 10 examples so I'll just pick a couple... The waiter came to offer black pepper and I asked if I would be able to get another drink. He snapped back and said "can't you just let me finish what I'm doing!" Wow... My partners mother at one point actually said to the waiter "please don't get angry". She's such a gentle sweet person so she was particularly uncomfortable how aggressive the staff seemed to be. The food was average but we were determined to stay for the whole meal as we'd been travelling and were hungry. I ordered a cheesecake for dessert and it came out frozen. I mean, completely frozen. I asked one of the waiters if it needed to go in a microwave to defrost. He said no, "that's how it should be". I was very polite saying, but please, I cannot even cut it in two? He said the cheesecake came frozen and they only took it out the freezer as and when necessary. Fine no problem, but make sure it's defrosted? They then charged us for 2 cheesecakes we hadn't touched despite my complaint. My partners family were so upset that they just wanted to leave urgently so we paid the whole bill despite an absolutely terrible experience that ruined our trip to the area.

We went here as people said try this place , it was very cramped for saying there was only 2 of us ,we had starters which was OK they should do equal portions so there a bit of a problem there ,manager was.nt really bothered mains were OK, first impressions ,well we will not be returning .

Superb meal there last Saturday. Always a good sign when people are queuing to get in. My daughter in law's gluten free dietary need was excellently dealt with too.

What a great find. All orders are made to order which means any personalisations can be made. We had a gluten free garlic bread, gluten free chicken & mushroom pasta and a ‘normal’ calzone and chips. The food was beautiful and the staff were lovely. We will definitely return on our next visit to Skegness.

Very nice place was very full when we visited and felt a bit crammed in but it was the holiday period so to be expected, as I booked at short notice I felt they had squeezed my table for 2 in, the food was good but not the best italian food I've had in the area but not too expencive, the service was very good and found the staff freindly and helpful, will definitely try again out of the holiday season.

Very disappointed with both service and quality of food

Only recently discovered this place and regret only just finding out about it. Their food is incredibly high quality and Mario's homemade chips are on another level. I don't live in Skeg anymore but each time I'm back it's the one place I want to eat. Check their specials board - last experience was sea bass with tiger prawns in a garlic, white wine and cream sauce. If Google allowed, I would give a 4.5 (instead of 5) stars as the drink side is the bit that could be improved. The wine list is great: short, well balanced and a good representation of Italians best. On the other hand, classic cocktails could do with some improvement, for example, we had Irish coffees and the ratio coffee/spirit was off balance and tasted diluted. Mario listened and confirmed the measurements (they put 25ml whisky whereas standard recipe we're used to does 50ml for 150ml coffee). Mario offered a further 25ml to top it up although the drink was out of balance still and lacking some sweetness too. Overall, it's for us the best restaurant in Skegness and we will visit again for the atmosphere Mario and his team create, the fantastic food and for the cracking wines.

Wasn't happy with the food neither myself or my husband. The bottle of red wine was one if the best iv tasted, I not a big fan so it has to be nice and at £18, yes it was.

FINALLY some seafood!! Vegan and gluten free options available with kids sizes too! Service is impeccable and the food is fresh, delicious and top quality! (Recommend anything with their Italian sausage - pizza or pasta.)

Skegness is lucky to have some great Italian restaurants, we've tried them all several times, and Mario's is no exception. As with any restaurant in Skegness, I'd advise you book in advance to avoid disappointment, as they can get very busy. So, on our most recent (3rd) visit, we were having a small family celebration, and booked a table for 4 for a Tuesday early evening. The interior is nicely done, simple in design, and very clean, with a fairly generous table layout, so you don't feel cramped, all of which creates a very pleasant eating environment and ambience. The staff, especially the waitresses, provide you with a very friendly and efficient service, and happy to help with any menu items you're unfamiliar with. The menu selection has plenty of variety, so should have something to suit all tastes with vegetarian options too, but do also check the chalkboard inside for specials. Between us, we've probably tried about 50% of their menu now, and never been disappointed, always nicely presented, and tastes absolutely delicious. Only exception IMO would be the dirty fries, but only had as a side anyway, so not important to our main meals. We all had 3 courses, sides and a rather nice bottle of Asti which with well deserved tip was £130, or £32.50 each, which for a meal of this quality is very good. They also have a small bar area, and do checkout their new pizza oven, it's massive, and do know they had a mammoth task getting it installed. My only negative really, is some item descriptions, specifically the deserts, didn't quite match the expectations, and sounded more glamorous. I can't remember the exact name they used, but ordered a zesty lemon tart, beautifully presented, but wasn't a tart at all (maybe forgot something?). Tasted exceptionally nice all the same (see picture). Also, the 'pastry' item within the deserts trio, had more of the texture & taste of crushed nuts, almost like soft peanut brittle. That aside, can't fault, so although we don't get a chance to eat out very often, this'll definitely be another one of our favourites. * I don't generally review restaurants until I've been at least 2 or 3 times, so as to get a more honest opinion, on things like consistency.

We went for the first time and wasn't disappointed, the service was good and the food was amazing,we went for our wedding anniversary with friends, and we will definitely be returning. The sea bass was excellent and my husband's Lobster ravioli was great. Well worth a visit.
