The little front of house guy thinks he's funny but in reality he's just a offensive loser and the food, service is just as bad. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Our meal was outstanding with lovely owners who were rightfully very proud of their food. We had the butter chicken, prawns sagwala, South Indian garlic chili chicken and yellow daal. I highly recommend!

have had takeaways in the past and generally of a decent standard but standards seem to have slipped recently. Food very average, missing some condiments, place in general seems tired and need of a bit of T&C

Awful food and poor service are just the beginning for this place. The whole restaurant is tired,grubby,dirty and unkempt. The smoke alarm is covered with tape and aluminium foil. The kitchen looks like it needs a good scrub down. Cold food laying around as I had a peep through the door. No extras. No free poppadoms. Asked for chutneys etc and none in the bag when we got home. Avoid is my advice sadly.

Very welcoming and friendly on arrival. Great choice and excellent food. Service prompt. Can recommend the tamarind chicken tikka. Could not ask for more!

Fabulous dine in meal Don't be deterred by downstairs which makes the place look like just a take away. Upstairs is the dine in section which is a much nicer environment with proper table cloths etc. The staff were very welcoming, the food was amazing and the service was prompt. Highly recommend if you are visiting Bourton.

What a little find this was. Just tucked around the corner from the river through the village this looks at first glance like a takeaway but there are seats upstairs. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was great. The owner is a real character and is justifiably proud of his restaurant. I would highly recommend one of the best Bangladeshi meals I have ever eaten and extremely reasonably priced.

Half the order was wrong when I got it home. They told me 40 mins over the phone, I got there at 35 mins - but was sat there for another 25 mins anyway… an hour to get a curry ready??! They were not busy I was the only person sat there the whole time. And still - after sitting waiting for that length of time, a 5 minute trip home and it was really luke warm. I don’t know if they didn’t bother starting my order till I got there or what? The sauce containers were either poor quality or they hadn’t bothered to put the lids on properly - leaked all over the car. Heard another customer complaining his previous curry was terrible and it was like it had bits of wood in it but I’d paid by that point… Food quality: quite bland Would I go again? No

A little disappointed with the takeaway this time around. The chicken tikka bhuna was tasty as where the Bombay potatoes. The chicken shaslik lacked flavour and the garlic naan could have done with lots more garlic not just a sprinkle. Had to microwave all the food as was cold when I got home. Not good as it’s less than a 5 minute walk away.

Stale popadoms served with soggy yesterday’s onion salad in a chipped bowl and watery mango chutney. Served as a starter… not a good first impression. £3.95 for a warm can of coke in a glass??? Chef’s special curry poor at best. Food arrives so quickly it’s questionable as to the cooked fresh idea. To be fair the manager discounted the bill by £10 after I answered his question “How was your meal?” Would I go back …. Nope and bear in mind I didn’t describe my wife’s experience

What an excellent curryhouse. I attended Aromas with a few of my UK friends who are serious curry afficionados All stated that their curry dishes were the best curries they have had in the UK for more than ten years. We sat upstairs in a charming restaurant and were warmly attended to by the owner Abdul. If you in Bourton this is a must visit. I still have the wonderful flavours stored in my taste memory bank. Thanks again Abdul for your warm friendship I will be back when we next return from South Africa

Lovely food, great service. Gaffer is a laugh minute, great atmosphere - don't be put off by the entrance. Will definitely return.

Delicious food particularly for vegetarians who struggle to find good places. Great service. I would definitely recommend. Abdul is great fun.

Great meal in a a small, quiet and tastefully decorated restaurant. Made to feel most welcome and appreciated for our custom. The restaurant is upstairs from the entrance which looks like it is only a take away when you arrive so it is a pleasant surprise when you are shown to your table and although small it is atmospheric and intimate enough for a good dining experience. We shared a starter of chicken tikka, lamb tikka and samosa and a starter of tandoori chicken, followed by a lamb madras and mango chicken main course. The food was well cooked, tasted great and was plentiful. This time of the year it was freezing outside and although it was a little cold at first, there were heaters to keep us warm until the spices kicked in!

This is primarily a take away but does have a restaurant upstairs. Very cold in restaurant, small fan heaters but not adequate (everywhere else we visited had central heating). Cracked and chipped ramkins for pickles. Rice portion very small so order one each. My bhuna was a little dry, but tasty enough, chicken a tad tough. Hubby's rogan josh was lovely. Great as you can take your own alcohol. Chap taking orders etc was funny and entertaining. Although did upset me with a remark about how I'd raised my son. Not a gourmet experience but OK if your on a budget.

We spent a weekend away in Bourton on the Water and booked Aroma for a Friday evening because the reviews were generally very good. We were not disappointed, the food was lovely, Abdul even took my daughter and a friend to see how their Peshwari Naans were made. (best we have ever had!). Such a friendly, funny and good night out, thank you!

Great restaurant. We had such a great time. I haven’t laughed so much in years. Abdul was the most amazing host. Charmingly cutting at times. If you ever felt that going to a Fawlty Towers type of place was your thing then this is for you. Basil but with warmth and charm. The food was delicious too. We ordered the Naz Chops and were told they were made by a member of the family called Naz- we asked if that was true , so Abdul called Naz on the phone, she was on holiday in Scotland…!!! Had a lovely chat lol. It’s a bring your own booze place which was great too. I would recommend you come here … and if you can, make it a regular event. I wish we lived closer. We ordered a takeaway which was very disappointing. The veg dansak lacked flavour and the vegetables mainly consisted of cabbage abd potatoes!

The takeaway downstairs looks very basic. Upstairs, however, is a different story - a little haven of a restaurant, featuring Bangladeshi and Indian dishes, with all the "regular" choices plus some which were new to us. The young waiter is inexperienced and his English is very limited, but as soon as the boss arrived from downstairs the repartee with customers known to him from previous visits began immediately. Happy to make jokes about the food ("Aunt Bessie's", "English curry", etc.) and very professional. Food did not take long to arrive and was first class - tasty, sensible portions, and all as ordered arrived at once. A memorable meal, and the ability to bypass the somewhat unprepossessing takeaway and follow advice from previous reviewers was rewarded. Toilet was clean, bill was accurate (you pay downstairs after the meal), and free roadside parking available opposite if needed.

The Aroma Indian Restaurant is above the takeaway just off the main high street in Bourton on the Water. Expect the usual curries but also a few different dishes. It's a BYO place so that helps with the bill. Wonderful food and the atmosphere is great. Abdul is a real asset to the place and entertaining !!

Staying in bourton on the water for 6 nights and wanted a takeaway, we all decided on a curry We rang and placed our order for 6.30pm and we got there Abdul greeted us and said they were freshly preparing banana fritters as they will go soggy if cooked before, while we waited we had a lovely chat and at 6.30pm It was ready to take back to our apartment. My dad can’t eat too hot of a curry so he went for korma , I personally don’t like korma as usually it’s to bland to my taste but even I tried some and fell in love so tasty not bland at all, my husband had murgi keema bhuna and I had saagwala both gorgeous both had quite a kick but nothing to blow your head off and the chicken so tender We love curry’s and we have tasted quite a few but I must admit this has come out one of the top curry places on our list

Had an eat-in meal at Aroma on Saturday night and it was superb. Abdul has brought the very best of Birmingham's Indian food to Bourton on the Water and every mouthful was stunning. Mixed Starter, Lamb Garlic Chilli, veg dhansak (main dishes), mushroom rice, saag aloo, naan all absolutely spot on. Also a pleasure to chat with Abdul. Hoping he manages to find a suitable location in Wylde Green so we can enjoy his delicious curry on our doorstep. Thank you for a lovely experience, Abdul.
