Archway Town Cafe in Islington

Otherwise known as 'Billy's' (after the brilliant owner, whose name isn't actually Billy!) We, along with most of Archway, have been frequenting this awesome little cafe for decades and he has an utterly loyal following. Billy invites a diverse crowd and pre lockdown, it was a place and opportunity to meet the local community and just chill. We used to go there when we had a little baby and Billy very thoughtfully went out and bought a highchair for when he was of age.(It's still there and we nearly cry at the memory every time we see another little kid in it) Everyone in Archway knows what a star Billy and his brother are. On to the menu; Goes without saying the fry ups are awesome and the ONLY cure for a hangover. The vegetarian option is just gorgeous. But, maybe little known is the grilled chicken on rice. It;s so delicious, lean, and low fat. It's tender, juicy, with a light garlic taste which I absolutely love. It takes a little while because the chicken really is grilled from fresh. It's beautiful and healthy. My next favourite is his baked potato with prawns and salad. It's one of my favourite dishes in the world. The menu is as 'cheap' or as sophisticated as you like, but each dish is so tasty. If Billy tells you a terrible joke, or calls you out in front of everyone, then you know you're a part of the family. Love this restaurant.

¡Visitamos a "Billy" el dueño cada año cuando venimos a Londres! La comida, el servicio y el personal de este café son excepcionales. El menú es extenso y si hay algo que desea que no está en él, ¡solo pregunte! Los precios son muy bajos y mucho mejores que el desayuno caro en el cercano Premier Inn o el centro de Londres. No puedo decir lo suficiente. . . ve a comer aquí!

He estado aquí varias veces en mis viajes a Londres. El desayuno en el hotel no era bueno, así que una mañana me pregunté y encontré este lugar. Gran desayuno, muy buen café. Personal amigable. Volví a almorzar aquí, el pollo era muy suave y delicioso. La tortilla con papas fritas es mi desayuno favorito, ¡simplemente elige el sabor que deseas!

Comimos allí dos veces. Las tortillas son realmente buenos. Un fantástico café. Muy buena relación calidad-precio. Muy limpio. El personal es increíble, muy amable. Los clientes son preciosas también! Soplo de aire fresco en Londres.

Desperate for food after a long hospital visit we searched the area for somewhere for gluten free food. We were immediately greeted by the owners who gladly showed us their dedicated chip fryer and could offer a range of straightforward, simple food. I ordered egg, chips, peas and bacon. All were beautifully cooked, with no trace of grease. The chips were hot, crispy and plentiful, the egg perfectly don and the bacon tasty. The cafe was clean, relaxed and offered quite an extensive menu of classic quick food, including burgers, breakfasts of ham, eggs, beans, toast etc. It was a rare treat for me to eat straightforward, honest food cooked well and served with big smiles. The best egg and chips I've had in donkeys years. This place would be great for students, passers by, visitors to the area and no doubt children. Cheap, easy quick food done with care.
