Amici in Forest of Dean

This is a really lovely family-run restaurant, in the middle of Coleford and with a free car park conveniently situated next to it. The service was excellent; really friendly, patient and caring with great attention to detail and frequent checking (from our waitress Gayana) to ensure everything was okay with us. It was a warm and comfortable environment and the food was of high quality (see photos). A most enjoyable meal complemented with tasty desserts and coffee. We'll definitely return next time we are in the area!

On a not too busy night, it took a loooong time to get our food. Service staff were obviously very distracted (possibly by volume of take away orders) and we felt somewhat forgotten. Pizzas, when they arrived, were excellent though. Top notch.

Amazing food and service. The best meal ever. Both had a pollo dish. One with Gorgonzola and the other with asparagus red onion and mushroom. Absolutely delicious. Large portions. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I found the food very enjoyable however what was not enjoyable was the price they charge for a humble lime and soda drink. A glass of carbonated water and a splash of lime cost £5.00! ( YES, £5.00 !!). What a rip off, disgusting. As a matter of principle I will not frequent this establishment again!

Takeaway pizzas very nice and tasty. Maybe a tad undercooked for my liking but not complaining. Will have to try eating in next time, looks lovely and the menu looks good for veggies.

booked a table a week ago for 5 friends to join my birthday celebration tonight ..i pressed the call button online to get through to them. I asked if they were open on the 11th and the lady said yes and took my booking. When we arrived the lights were on and a number of people were sat in the dining area. The door was locked ..a gentleman came to the door and said they were not open Mondays ..i wonder if they perhaps didn't open because they didn't get enough bookings to please them? ..our next choice of venue was fully booked for the night which is what you might expect during the festive season ..i don't know..BUT something is amiss with these clowns system!

Lunch was delicious. I recommend the risotto Gorgonzola. Tasty and perfect consistency. My sister’s pizza looked amazing too. The surroundings are bright and comfortable. Will be back when I visit the area again.

Excellent Italian matched by the service. A nice setting, with all the expected Italian dishes .. pasta, risotto, pizzas etc. all reasonably priced. Highly recommended dining in Coleford.

Usually love this place but my husband had a piece of plastic in his starter - about 6cm long and 1cm wide. I mentioned it to the waitress and she said - it's from the packaging. We assumed as much but she was very unfazed by it and didn't offer to take it off the bill or seem bothered at all. The food was fine as usual otherwise although the tiramisu used to be amazing but had no coffee or alcohol in the sponge this time so was a bit pointless and tasteless. We should have asked for the starter to be taken off the bill but I'd lost the will by then and would have thought that would have been a given with a rather large piece of plastic in the mix. Such a shame. Don't think we'll be going back.

Arrived and we were greeted with a smile and shown to our table, drinks ordered taken, and we were promptly served, menus handed to us and we made our choice and the food came in good time. We were glad we booked, it got very busy but the nice thing was we were not crammed in like a lot of places, the service, and food and price was excellent, we will return when in the area again

Nice Italian food. Reasonably priced. All in all a nice meal. The cocktails were not great though. We enjoyed our meal.

This was our first visit to Amici and after reading the reviews I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. When we arrived there was already 1 large table of 15 and 3 other tables in use inside. After the waiter took our order, the waiter returned and we were told there was no lasagne left, so my partner ordered the calzone, I had the duck with roast veg. It was 45 mins later that our food arrived as the large group were getting theirs before us, fine. After we had eaten, I asked for the bill to be told I had to wait as the large group were paying separately and there looked to be a discussion about money outstanding, and only one transaction could be dealt with at a time,fine. When I did get my bill it took 3 attempts to get the correct one to then be charged 10% for the pleasure! I strongly feel that this should've been left off. I didn't want to make a fuss as my partner has been ill so I just paid it. So, be aware, 10% gets automatically added, whether you feel they have earned it or not! Our total bill for apple juice, a bottle of alcohol free lager, duck and calzone....£42.20

Our family of 10 had a lovely time at this restaurant. The food tasted great and had good portion sizes. Between us we had pizza, risotto, carbonara, lasagne and penne al forno della casa. Everyone really enjoyed their food and we were able to feed everyone with drinks for around £170. They also catered well for coeliac, being able to change any pasta dish to suit dietary requirements. We will definitely return!

This was possibly the worst meal I have ever had. I ordered the bianchetti and my partner ordered the Gamberoni to start. These were both bland and tasted like they were straight out of the freezer, the bianchetti was served with an industrial dollop of tartar sauce and a "salad" with balsamic dressing that was so salty it was inedible. Next mains, spinach and ricotta cannelloni and lasagne. To their credit the food was hot, that's about the only good thing I have to say about the food. Not only was the lasagne so bland over an hour after leaving i still can't get the taste of the starter out of my mouth, the pasta was so overcooked it was mushy and had no texture. There was no discernable white sauce at all and the mozzarella was like rubber. My partners cannelloni was just as badly cooked and unappealing. Attempting to eat this left us both feeling unwell. At no point were we asked how our food was even when the waitresses cleared our barely touched plates from the table. Being fair we chose not to raise an issue at the time, so the staff had no opportunity to correct the issues. This was however because all we wanted at this point was to leave as fast as possible. Save your money and appetite and do not eat here.
