Alex's Fish Bar in Conwy

Our first visit yesterday we both had the “small” cod and chips!! Small it definitely is NOT! It was absolutely delicious. The cod was fresh and white and the batter was heavenly. The chips were lovely too. Would highly recommend this lovely little chippy. Lovely staff too.

Been here many times and the food is good. However I was disappointed today as when I arrived for lunch I was told they had ' run out of food ' and that they close at 2 pm . It was just before 1. 55 pm and I appreciate I had left it late , however , I noticed there were sausages available but it seems they didn't want to cook any fresh chips. I will not be going there again but must say all the staff are very pleasant but today I felt let down

Best fish & chips in the whole of North Wales... wouldn't go anywhere else. Lovely friendly staff, excellent menu with lots of different choices & lovely and clean shop. Food always prepared within mins & if orders rang through its ready for when asked. Definitely a regular returning customer.

I got fish and chips I got type 3 diabetes but the food was very nice but it was very Luke warm but it’s adorable very good place and it was very clean

My family went in for a large order: kebabs and fish and burgers and chips. The food was all amazing, best quality we could ask for with no wait times at all. The staff are so friendly and ready to help with any request. My whole family loved it, will definitely be our new chippy from now on!

Went in start of the week for lunch. Ordered a lunch special chips and doner meat - portion size for the price paid is very good value and food is always fresh and tasty! My go to chippy for old colwyn / colwyn bay!

Asked and paid for a medium chips and received this!!! Absolutely appalling the portion sizes for what you are paying. This seems to be happening quite a lot now each time I’ve gone in.

Fantastic chips and great staff. Fish is always fresh, great burgers, kebabs and pies. I've never had anything bad from Alex's, it's really worth a visit.

As we were staying close to old Colwyn and when coming back to our cottage early one evening we decided to give the local fish and chips a try. Parked across the road in Aldi's(loaf of bread), and joined the short queue at the fish...

We had fish and chips, kebabs and a burger. All of the food was amazing, quality was excellent and we did not have to wait long. All the food comes out fresh to order and the staff go above and beyond with their customer service....

Chips cooked just how I like them! Ordered a large cod but I'd consider it a small. Fish a tiny bit chewy at the ends but good in the middle. I don't like that they still use polystyrene trays, plastic forks & plastic bags.

Went for a chippy tea. When I got home the chips were not cooked and they were just wrapped in paper. Dripping with grease. Jaaps catch 5 mintutes away. Go there it is much bettter!

I joined the Friday night queue to place my order. Waited ten minutes before a most charming Polish lady presented it to me. What quality! What beautifully cooked fish! And what a reasonable price. Will visit again.

Got our dinner here on a Saturday evening after arriving for a holiday break. Tasty food! Two fish suppers was enough for our family (two adults and two hungry teenagers). Cost about £15 in total.

Moving to Old Colwyn in the near future and thought I'd give Alex's fish bar a try, 1st impression was it's nice and clean, the staff were very friendly and helpful but best of all was the food it was delish, can't speak highly enough of my visit and will deffo be revisiting again, well done to everybody this place is a gem.

I live in Prestatyn and frequently travel to Alex's Fish Bar for the families tea. All foods we have ordered to date have been delicious (especially the Haddock) the service is very efficient- even during pandemic. Well done to all concerned.

Went to Ales's Fish Bar tonight to get fish and chips (second week in succession) . Staff are very friendly, the fish and chips are spot on not soggy or dripping in fat, your not kept waiting for ages to be served. Very tasty would definitely recommend them.

Was 5* for months fish and chips always perfect but unfortunately my last two visits have been disappointing because they were very greasy and not up to usual high standard. The staff are always perfect.

Place looks great, nice staff, tried this place twice, petty problems put me off a 3rd time, 1st time 25 minutes wait on fish&chips;, not a big deal, the portion of chips for my son where glued to the news paper! (Not literally) but jeeeze, had to get a cake knife and carefully scrape across the paper to get the chips off, leaving half stuck to the paper, and half in a bowl which resembled mash potato by this point. Exactly the same on the next visit, no idea if its the potato \paper or the oil. No idea, thought it just me, until I seen social media post about the exact same complaint. Don't let this out you off, not the end of the world, all food cooked fresh,staff are lovely, only English chip shop in the town. May be I just went on a bad day. May be ill yet again..

Comparatively new in Old Colwyn, but clean, friendly, good food. Particularly, albeit obvious, very good fish and chips.

I had a top quality fish and chips from this place. Lovely batter and perfectly cooked fish, chips were good to. Hope they keep up the good work.

Went to the new chippy recently and the fish was perfect and so were the chips. Usually from other chip shop in Old Colwyn most of it went in the bin. Stale fish and ‘poor’ chips. Alex’s shop must be using good oil and cook fish to order. It’s great to have a good chippy round the corner. Well done.

The food was perfect. Often when you order cod and chips you are disappointed, but not here. We enjoyed it that much that we came back twice. Thank you for lovely food and we will return next time we visit Colwyn bay.

Definitely the best chips in all of Colwyn Bay, not just Old Colwyn. The staff is friendly and efficient, it is always a pleasure to visit Alex's Fish Bar.

We finally tried this chippy after reading excellent reviews and oh wow reviews are correct. We had fish and chips and have not had such a lovely tasty meal in ages. Super friendly staff and the food is amazing. So clean too. You have to try this place

Been waiting for a long time for a decent chip shop in Old Colwyn and now we have one. The portions are good and at a fair price plus they are yummy. Great stuff and hope they do well

Good selection on the Menu, with the service fast, and efficient. We had Cod, Haddock, Cornish Pastie, Peas, and Chips which were all cooked perfectly. Price was reasonable as well. Recommend you try it.

After years of making do with the other chippy in Old Colwyn, along comes Alex's new Fish Bar that shows just how substandard other chip shops are in North Wales. Excellent chips, super crispy fish, great customer service. Keep it up Alex.

So far i'v has fish and chips, spam fritter, beef burger and chips, also tried the scallops and curry sauce. I cant fault any of it ,best fish and chips i'v tasted. Service is very friendly, very clean too

Been to this takeaway twice now both times very impressed, food lovely, recommend the battered Sausage, chips are also lovely, well cooked and fresh.
