Agora Turkish Cuisine - Cafe, Bar & Grill in Wyre

It was too cold to take coats off where we were sat, so the waitress moved us to where one of the radiators was turned on. After the meal we told the waitress it had been disappointing and nothing like as good previous visits. We explained, the Lahmacun had very little minced lamb, some of the tapas/dips (e.g. cubed aubergine) seemed to be out of a jar (and this was not denied), and although we'd asked for no bulger wheat, it was still given (she had offered to substitute this for a free portion of bread, but it wasn't and we were still charged). It was poor quality and expensive. With our previous meals the manager walked the floor and chatted proudly about on-premises prepared foods, I was told he had now moved on. The outcome of raising our concerns was just "I hope it's better for you next time". A measure of a good restaurant is how staff react to customer complaints, and worryingly nobody was interested! With all the close-by good quality and value restaurants, there will not be a next time with Agora.

It's OK But overpriced really for what you get. Staff are OK but they don't make you feel special considering the price of the food. The table by the door suffers from people smoking outside (really people) and the door doesn't automatically close which means the person sitting closest ends up closing the door when people enter or leave ( if staff were paying attention they could do this) Felt lacking authenticity especially with the music. If there had been a greeter/staff member like Marco from Ricos then I would have enjoyed it more. Ps No free olives or dips

Tried Agora for the first time last night, friendly staff with great advice about the food, and a lovely setting in the place with nice music. Had some hummus to start and the lamb Iskender kebab which I would 10/10 recommend.

It's just mega. The quality of the food is outstanding. Highly recommended.

4 of us had the early bird offer which is £23.95 for 3 courses, excellent tasty food and great customer service from the lovely staff. We all enjoyed our visit The only criticism I have is that £4 for a lime and soda is very expensive

We visited the Agora Turkish restaurant in Poulton on the evening of the 30th July to celebrate my 60th birthday, it was a party of 17 people and the staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. The food was out of this world and everyone commented on how delicious it was. I couldn’t have asked for a better venue, it certainly ticked all the boxes for a memorable evening of celebration, thank you so much.

My first time trying turkish food and it was amazing! Everything about here is memorable and I felt very welcome and at home. Easily the best restaurant in poulton to me :) presentation, food, atmosphere, and staff all excellent!

Had a really nice meal here with my husband. Polite and helpful staff, service was quick, and the food is just perfect. We will be going again.

We went with friends based on the website menu. Unfortunately the website menu isn’t the same as the in the restaurant menu. Vegan choice was very limited, however they did make the beetroot salad without the feta and I had a very tasty chickpea dish with some sweet potato fries. The service was very good and the waitress was lovely,

Smashing place - we absolutely loved it. The environment within the restaurant was just nice. Clean, nicely decorated and a very welcoming atmosphere. The menu had a good range of Turkish food. Everything we ordered was of the highest quality. It was all delicious. All the staff were extremely attentive without being intrusive. A man, whom I assumed to be the owner, worked tirelessly and appeared like a nice bloke. It was a really good evening. Nothing but the highest praise. We'd certainly visit again.

Fantastic food, and the service is brilliant. It's a nice relaxing atmosphere. Agora is my favourite restaurant in Poulton but luckily they also do take away for collection too! I would recommend the lamb tava 🤤

I am Turkish so I know how Turkish dishes should be served. The lahmacun they serve taste less worst one I have ever tasted. The waiter trows the plate on the table and runs of. They can get away with this food it seems in England. Very expensive also.

Our first time here. The owner made an effort to visit each table and was pleasant. But the rest of the staff didn't make eye contact when we entered - we stood at the entrance, then the bar, and eventually approached the girl who was gazing at us unsmiling to ask for our table. Then at each stage of the meal, we had to ask for the next menu or the bill because no one was attentive. Each time, it took a long time for us to get their attention because they seemed to be purposely avoiding our gaze. It was easier while the owner was around but once he had left for the evening, the service took a real step down. The food was nice, my husband enjoyed the mixed grill. My halloumi burger was a little dry but otherwise nice.

Visited this restaurant around 6pm one Saturday evening. We hadn’t made a booking but we were accommodated with no issues. The menu was extensive with plenty of gluten free options (for myself). The food was absolutely delicious if a little pricey but well worth it. Drinks were great too. Staff were pleasant especially the young waitress who served us. On receipt of the bill we asked if we could round up the amount - obviously with the extra being a tip. They explained that this wasn’t possible and as none of us had any cash we were unable to tip. We felt a little disappointed by this. We don’t always tip but do so for good service and on this occasion I felt the staff deserved it. Well worth a visit though and I will highly recommend.

Writing this slipping into à food coma. It is fantastic. We never have 3 course and the food is that good we demolished the lot. They arent shy with the alcohol on the cocktails either. Wobbled along to the train station. Go, its lovely

Just dropped in and asked for a table for two. We were welcomed with open arms, by friendly accommodating staff who served fantastic Turkish cuisine. Service was quick and the food was hot and tasty. We’ll be back.

The best Turkish food I’ve ever had! We were visiting this area to view a new vehicle, and because it was so far from home, thought the town looked really lovely so turned it into a short break. The town is lovely, and this restaurant is an absolute must. The general manager was incredibly attentive and knowledge. Food stunning and the chefs clearly very, very talented. Every fork full was a taste explosion in my mouth! If we are ever here again I’d love to return.

First time visit, had an excellent meal and the service first class, will definitely be visiting again

Went here for my birthday, we really enjoyed are starters , which were the halloumi, hummus and lamachun, all very tasty , my wife had the chicken burger for main and I had the lamb tava, lamb was beautiful melted in the mouth, as it was my birthday they very kindly gave me a chocolate cake for dessert on the house, which was very kind and much appreciated, the staff were all very friendly, my only critic would be the if the waitress had more knowledge of the dishes so she could recommend side dishes which would accompany my main course, but she was still very good. I will definitely return here in the future.

5 stars isn't enough !! The two gentlemen couldn't have looked after us more and make us feel welcome and feel special. Went with a large group, the service was great, friendly and jokey but not intrusive. The menu was unexciting and the food was unremarkable. I chose vegetarian moussaka but it consisted mainly of potato and very little else. It was quite bland and for the price, definitely a disappointment. My friends enjoyed a couple of the starters, but nobody was enthusiastic of their main and despite having a few people who skipped lunch (including myself) in anticipation of eating a big meal, not one finished their plate. I found the choice of desserts boring, so I can't comment.

I've avoided go8ng here due to my perception of Turkish food. What a mistake!..great varied menu and lots of veggie dishes. A wonderful meal for both of us and can't wait to go back due to menu and wonderful staff

We enjoyed the food although I can't decide if moussaka is really moussaka without aubergine. Seemed a bit strange! Helped out with kids meals as the menu lacks options.

Had a really nice meal last Saturday or at least I chose the right dishes as they were excellent. I wouldn't consider Turkish to be my favourite so it can't beat Thai, Italian or Spanish, but it must have been good for me to sing its praises on here.

We ate lamb chops, lahmacun and meatballs with tomato sauce at this restaurant, which we happened to find after a trip to Blackpool. We were very pleased with everything, the presentation of the flavors, the cleanliness of the place and the atmosphere. We would like to thank Mr. Hasan and Mr. Uğur for their hospitality.

The staff were fantastic as soon as we entered. Really attentive and welcoming. The food itself was delicious- we had a meze of tzatziki, lahmacun and kalamar, followed by mixed grills- loved the bulgur wheat and salad side. Will definitely return and highly recommend

I loved this place...the food was really nice..just like being in Turkey...loads of great dishes to choose from...service was fast and they couldn't do enough for us...would highly recommend and il definitely be goin back again.

Such a great night at Agora. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The food could not be faulted, everything was piping hot and the lamb chops were absolutely perfect. It's a very relaxing restaurant and we were treated so well by everyone.

Very friendly waiters, served quickly and food delicious. Had starters, main and Dessert. Everything was excellent. Maybe a bit pricey but it was worth paying for it.

Had a lovely evening here, we made a mistake on our part with the booking but as it was a quiet night they were able to squeeze us in anyway which we really appreciated. We had three courses and some beer and wine between us and all of it was incredible and really reasonably priced, I would 100% recommend to come here for some delicious authentic Turkish food!

We were disappointed to eat here on 18 March 2023. The food wasn't served with any flare, panache, or style. There were 8 of us dining, and although the meals were edible, we weren't blown away by them. The quality of the food wasn't a high quality, I know prices are going up but don't comprise on the quality of the food you serve. The meals were very overpriced for the portion size and quality of the meal. We won't be going back again

Three of us had a great evening,Hassan looked after us very well. We all shared 3 starters, then all had the kebab mixed grill ,it was fabulous and very tasty. We will definitely go again and recommend a visit to Agora.

Booked Saturday night celebrating a family birthday. We ordered the Mezi starters between 5 of us which nice sharing as we got to try different foods and then went for kebabs as the main course which were excellent. Service was good which made to lovely meal out.

Found it to be overpriced. Some of the food was really not very good. Staff were pleasant enough but we were kept waiting quite a long time between courses.

Been a few times now, the staff are always super friendly and attentive. The lamb Shish kebab is the best lamb I’ve ever had, it’s so tender. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Had the pleasure of visiting Agora twice last week first with the girls for the early bird menu and then on the very busy Saturday evening 20+ of us for my sons 30th birthday celebration. Harry and his staff went above and beyond. The food was of the highest standard with everyone on both evenings enthusing how much they enjoyed it. Looking forward to another visit soon.

We chose from the early bird menu (Tues/Weds/Thurs/Sun 17.00 - 19.00). The main menu was also available. The service was speedy but not rushed, polite and friendly. The food was great. We were both very happy with our meals. And using the early bird, was...

Over priced and totally underwhelmed. Visited last nighy. 3 starters for £16.50. Humus was tasteless. Lahmacun was poor, small and nothing like the real deal in turkey..was also cold. The spicy sausage was stone cold in the middle so was returned (less the 2 pieces we had tried which the manager left on the plate slate) he returned 5 mins later with the same reheated sausages saying I don't know what happened there, they are done on a griddle!. I chose chicken iskender kebab for main meal, again £16.50. I ashed the waitress if it was a kebab and she said no its separate chicken on a sizzle plate and the bread comes underneath. It comes with our special spicy tomato sause and a cooling yoghert so I said ok. Big mistake. Plate full of walm chicken (no sizzle) covered in a tomato sause, no spice and no bread! Oh and a tastles white dollop of yoghert?. Spoke to the manager who just said waitress had told me what it was and he just walked away. No apology of offer to change anything. Hubbys mixed grill meal was alsu underwhelming for 21.50. Not everything that was advertised on the menu was on the plate. Needlless to say we will not be returning!

Excellent, good tasty food at a reasonable price. Great staff, very helpful and friendly. We were upstairs which we were very happy with. Downstairs looked a bit cramped. Definitely recommend it and will be back.

Very disappointed with the mix grill. It doesn't come with any sauces or any pitta bread. It was not dry but to much salty. The waiters are great and know what they doing. The owner can get himself a week of customers service course. Its not that I won't be back as I always try again. Can you imagine how much is left in my plate. Booked for me and my partner on the last minute we were greeted by friends faces all round shown to our seats which were really comfortable upstairs The food was lovely I had the mixed charging and my partner had the adana iskenda kebab and we had 3 mezza starters of Turkish sausage fillo rolls filled with feta and humus The whole experience was very good and will definitely book again

Great service, great food and wine. We dropped in on a quiet Sunday evening and we’re welcomed by the friendly owner. The Turkish cuisine was very fresh and tasty, particularly the charcoal grilled dishes we had. Definitely recommend a visit.

We went here for a friend's 60th birthday and Wow, what a pleasant surprise. The decor is very simple, however the food and service was outstanding. The various flavours of their many dishes just tempted the palette and transported you to there dishes origin in Turkey. It was well worth the price paid. Meal prices are very reasonable. There are toilet facilities which are tidy and clean. We will be back again. Highly recommended.

The service, setting, and food are seriously good here. It’s a gem and up there with the best Turkish food I’ve had. We really enjoyed our evening.

Nice quality restaurant, however prices are inflated and portions on the rather small side. You're not exactly getting value for money. Also, be aware that the foods are quite high in salt. Have some water to wash down because you will get thirsty. That said the quality of ingredients and the meat is nice and the servers are very polite.

Im gutted to be writing this but my night was ruined bern coming here since the day it opened and actually thought I was valued more so arrived 7.20 Saturday to be put upstairs 3 of us in a table of 2 sat between 2 tables just stuck up there for 25 mins about to leave wen got sat bk downstairs at the table 😳 then ordered our food the meatballs Luke warm and mushrooms cold we waited long enough just ate them noting special and additional bread finally given half way threw the mains well what an absolute disappointment first of all mixed grill over cooked and dry no rice or veg had to ask for sauce then the prawns frozen prawns tasteless no rice or veg given small soggy skinny fries and then the garlic mushroom with additional hair in. Called waiter who has totally lost his charm and bubbly character to not.be bothered about any of it would rather polish glasses then be charged fully is a joke my son doesn’t like confrontation so I called the restaurant bk to tell them how I was dissatisfied and unhappy they had been made aware of it all to be promised contact yesterday nothing feel majorly let down and won’t be returning again

What a lovely restaurant. Authentic Turkish food that is delicious! Lovely atmosphere and great service! Love all the homemade dips and breads for starters. My daughter had the lamb chops which were really succulent. Highly recommend 👌

We've been here previously, on a dining visit before with family, Was So impressed, that we decided to dine here again, whilst we were visiting family locally. Excellent quisine, & enjoyed very much .

Me and my boyfriend had a pleasent stay at the Agora restaurant. We ordered the vegetarian mussaka and lamb chops. The food was full of flavour, well presented and it came out very hot. The drinks were also well made. It wasn't busy, so we managed to enjoy a quiet atmosphere. The place looks super nice as well and the customer service from the staff was absolutely amazing! Nothing to fault. Would definitely be coming back!
