I’m very disappointed with the service at this restaurant. I booked a table for dinner and the server asked if there were any customers coming with allergies. I said yes one Gluten free. They asked if it was celiac and I said yes. When we arrived at the restaurant we had to wait a few minutes for our table and while we were waiting I took a look at the menu. I saw a separate sheet with all the allergens on it, picked that up, and read that instead. I saw that there were crispy onions in the biriyani and that was the only thing making it not gluten free and they could be taken off to make the dish gluten free. When we sat down the hostess acknowledged that there was a gluten allergy and said to reference the gluten free menu which was at the back of the regular menu. It took us 40 minutes for a server to come take our order and we had to call over the server as it was taking way too long and the tables next to us who arrived later were served before us. When the server arrived, they said again that there was a gluten allergy at the table and they were making a note of that. I ordered the lamb biriyani off the gluten free menu. When the food arrived I asked the server is this the gluten free biriyani and they said yes. I saw that there was something on top of the dish and wanted to clarify if this was the crispy onions. The server was unsure and said it’s the gluten free one and then paused for a second and went back to the kitchen. When the server came back they took the plate away and said someone had accidentally put the onions on top. They came back out with a new plate with no onions on top and had a stick on the top to signify it was an allergy free meal. I am honestly quite shocked at how many times they acknowledged my allergy and still served me something I was allergic to. If I had not read that alternate menu while waiting ( they do not give you this menu at the table) then I would not have known the onions contained gluten and could have had a very severe reaction. This is really unfortunate as the biryani was delicious. I excepted better from the servers and the chefs. I spoke to the manager explaining how serious of an issue this is and how a mistake like this can be life threatening. The manager said they will have a meeting with their team. I asked for the service charge to be taken off. I want to warn anyone with an allergy to read the allergen sheet at the front as well as the vegan or gluten free menu to help ensure you don’t accidentally eat something you are allergic to.
