On a holiday to Montrose and we sat in and ordered a fish supper, tasted lovely all freshly made. The best we have had in a long time. Would highly recommend the meal. Kai told us he is changing the name to Montrose fish and chips so look out for it on the High Street.

Never have we been to a hotel with such friendly welcoming staff. Everyone we met showed us the greatest hospitality. Nothing was too much trouble. We ate in the restaurant on both nights of our stay and enjoyed the food and again the friendly attitude of the staff. Breakfast was varied with a choice of hot dishes including Arbroath smokies. Our room was spacious and warm with a view over the green. We will certainly return if we visit Montrose again. The birdwatching was good too!

Went here for Sunday lunch and can honestly say was worst ever. The chicken was rubbery, the vegetables were all obviously frozen, gravy was like jelly , the roast potatoes and parsnips a poor effort - nothing like real thing. It was all tasteless & bland. Very disappointing and complete waste of money. Will definitely not be back nor will we recommend.

I stayed here for 2 nights on a room only basis. I was in Arbroath to watch football. The hotel is in the Town centre. I had a warm welcome when I got there. The room was more than adequate for my requirements, ensure with tea and coffee making facilities. The hotel had a downstairs bar and varied menu to choose from. Overall, it was value for money and there are plentynof pubs and eating places nearby.

A family gathering for high tea on a Sunday night. Absolutely faultless. Great food, great service and even greater value. Plenty to choose from and we were even offered a choice of desserts before the scones/cakes arrived. Highly recommend. Well done to all involved.

went down today for a spot of lunch and some strawberry picking. we had a fantastic time at the farm! Inside the cafe looks lovely, they have a very warm and welcoming atmosphere. the menu was great with something for everyone, we liked how there was an option for a light bite or a more substational meal. I had the Brisket Panini special and my partner had the pulled pork burger, both were a perfect size and incredibly tasty. We were then offered desserts, we had an affogato and the strawberry pancake stack, both of which looked and tasted amazing! The service was top notch and every staff member was really informative and friendly, they made us feel very welcome during our time here. After lunch we went strawberry picking in the fields which was a great time and a really nice way to spend the day. we will definitely be back and would 100 percent reccomend anyone to try it out! ❤️

How this hotel has the ratings it has is beyond my understanding. Arrived to book in and met with a dark, damp smelling entrance. One light on in the bar area where a very unhappy employee was clearing up from previous staff (allegedly the managers!) shift. Advised that none of the hotel rooms had been prepared and she needed time to do so. We were unable to get food at the hotel as there was nothing. Info on site says meals available. Room was freezing cold, blinds failed, windows drafty, had to ask for towels for shower. Excuse for a bed was one of the most uncomfortable I've ever experienced. The wooden frame squeaked even when moving the quilt!! We had booked for 3 nights which we cut short. Breakfast was an absolute joke, make your own tea and toast with out of date milk, and a jar of cheap jam. An experience not for repeating!

My parents recommended this cafe for a quick stop. I ordered a baked potato (with beans and cheese) and it was by far the best baked potato I've had in ages! Great price too. (The soup was also very tasty!)

We we’re passing through Montrose and decided to stop for something to eat. The Market Arms had a soup and sandwich deal at £5, unfortunately for us the last of the soup had been sold to the previous customers. On looking again at the menu we both decided to take filled sandwiches with crisps a glass of milk and tea for my wife. We were served promptly by friendly staff all in all I was very pleasantly surprised as the sandwiches were nice fresh and tasty. Everything on the menu was very reasonable with quite a number of customers sitting within the premises. Would certainly go in for something to eat again when in Montrose Sandwich £2.70 each Glass of milk £1.60 Tea £2.00 Our total bill was £9 very good value indeed. 👍

1hr wait for food, which was cold, certainly not food temperature guidelines!!!!! Sticky surfaces. Dirty glasses. Whole place had a dirty smell. Staff barely spoke when ordering, then when went to complain and get refund he had no interest or acknowledgment just told to stick my card in!!!! Place has certainly gone downhill

This is the second time I've been here, both times at lunchtime. The first time I was told they closed at 2pm and as it was just after 1pm I was too late. The next time was today and as it was just before 1pm I was told sternly I could eat but had to be out by 1.30 as they close at 2pm. Then charged £10 for a breakfast roll and cup of tea which whilst it was very nice it wasn't worth that, especially as I had to throw it down and get out. There wasn't a single other customer in as they clearly know it's not allowed near closing time!
