Never been here I just want google Maps points to level up.

Had chippy tea there, after a hike in the Brecon Beacons. All I can say is the chips are stunning and very generous, and a really good price.

Just been here again, had to wait for the chips to cook, so had a good conversation with the owner. Nice to have a personal chat while waiting, food was great too 😋 Keep up the good work, 👍

Stopped on a whim but glad to have done so. Fish & chips were outstanding! The fish was huge & the chips cooked to perfection. Won't think twice about stopping here again when I'm in the area!

Superb value, lovely chips and a fish beautifully prepared. Second visit for 7s and will do so the next time we are in the area.

A huge pile of potato bits, no whole chips. They had obviously been cook had gone cold then had been reheated but were cold when we came to eat them. They were inedible and were binned.

Yes, of course I will share my comments. I haven't visited this fish bar for quite some time. I can't say the food was bad, just the chips were quite greasy, however it was plentiful and good value. It hasn't put me off visiting again, maybe it was just an off day.

Wow what can I say.....epic portion size. Gorgeous fish and chips. Crispy tasty batter on the fish. Just lovely. We were recommended this place ......so glad we went . You wont be dissapointed x 😁

One of the batter (joke) fish & chip shops in the Merthyr aria. I live locally - well 4 miles from here, however I find it well worth the 8 mile round trip when I fancy fish & chips.

If I’m honest I thought the chips were greasy, and the fish batter soggy, didn’t like it at all. Why is it the chips look anaemic.

Me and my family are here on holiday visited this place on a wim as wanted fish and chips We ordered 3x large cod and chips 1x fruity curry sauce 1x spicy curry sauce Absolutely brilliant thank you highly recommend

Allow a while to queue for what you want, as everything is cooked to order. But it means that the excellent batter on your fish is crispy all around, and the fish - very big, chunky pieces - is perfectly cooked! It's not greasy at all, and is served in large, flat boxes, so saves washing up! 😂 The owner (fryer) and staff keep you entertained while you wait. 😂 The best chippy for miles......! 👌

Visited based on the high rating but sounds like it’s been taken over by new management in the last few months. Prices reasonable and the fish was ok, except for having quite a lot of bones. Chips were soggy and greasy as well as being pretty cold even only taking them 2 minutes home. Wouldn’t recommend as much better options nearby.

We drove from Newport because of the good reviews and we were not disappointed, this fish and chip shop was the best we have ever visited. The fish was freshly cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic also the chips were freshly cooked and tasty too,we would highly recommend a visit to this great little gem 💎the owner was a very nice person who was happy to advise on a selection, well done

The best chippy in the valleys, the owner and staff are amazing people, so kind an friendly and the food is always fresh and clean. The chicken curry is to die for. I would eat from there everyday of I could. Huge portions for great prices. I rate this fish shop 5 star because I absolutely love the food and the staff. Everybody should come and try trefechan fish bar 🙂

Freshly cooked, well worth your visit.

Absolutely lovely food. Really tasty and fresh. The fish is the best I've ever tasted, nice crispy batter. The chicken curry is to die for. Friendly staff, always smiling. Great portion sizes and not as expensive as other chippies. Would highly recommend this place to everyone.

Hi just thought I needed to leave some feedback for this fish shop, I have been before and had good food and good service, However on entering I noticed new either owners or workers, Anyway as before the food all looked nice , shop was well lit and very clean. I could go on and on to praise this shop but I'll keep it short, Very good price on what I had, The fish was lovely, very big and cooked right, The small chips was even to much for me and they were lovely, The cod bite was lovely and very big in size ,Everything we had was really nice, The staff who served me were lovely and very friendly, I would drive passed other shops to go here as everything was just amazing, Thanks for the lovely food and great service. ,

Best Fish & Chips in Merthyr. All fish cooked to order, so call them first to place your order. Chips are great too, good high quality oil used that is changed most regularly. Saveloys prepared correctly and proper salt and strong malt vinegar. Probably the cleanest takeaway in the valleys, don't go anywhere else!

Fish and chips are fantastic, but find the cooking to order a pain, but ensures the high quality. Unlike most other reviewers I found the staff distant and unfriendly thus dropping a star, and buying just chips seems too much trouble for them.

This is the place we go to when we want good quality fish and chips. As it is so popular we generally phone ahead and place our order so saving time by not having to join the inevitable queue there. Top place in Merthyr for fish and chips and on Fridays you can also get hake which very few fish and chip shops now offer but I recommend you phone and order it.

I have visited this fish bar on many occasions. The staff are friendly- The fish is very good quality, large portion and excellent value for money. Cooked fresh while you wait or place a phone order. The chips are always cooked well and the portion is consistent and just right. The shop is spotless... Definitely worth a visit ❤️

I have visited this fish bar twice recently as it is quiet a way from my home so we haven't bothered before, All i can say is WOW, the fish is cooked fresh in front of you , the choice is outstanding , the corned beef pie looks delicious. The chips are crispy and well cooked, portions are perfect and the prices really good. Cant wait to a fish and chip supper soon

I'm not local & just passing through, spotted this place as I drove past, very good & friendly service, I ordered the cod bite with chips & a buttered roll, tasted lovely & at £3.70 (no really) would highly recommend.

AMAZING I was visiting a place near by and decided to pop in to the chip shop ..I am fussy with shop bought chips ..I had the cod bite and chips omg they were the best I have ever tasted and the most perfect by far ..all I can say is trefechan you are lucky to have the best on your doorstep.

I ordered cod and chips by phone, and it was cooked fresh when I arrived. The fish shop is absolutely spot las. We've been a couple time's and every time it's the same excellent.

Good clean place love the fish bites and fish,service great tried the corned beef pie once not a good experience think it died of natrial causes give it amiss .

Excellent food extensive and varied menu. Spotlessly clean and friendly staff. Only one little niggle: waiting area is cramped you have to wait outside if busy and without a canopy it can be unpleasant in the rain but its still worth it.
