Tommy's traditional Fish & Chips in Limavady

I ordered a fish supper and onion rings and it cost me £16.25. I do not mind paying for food that is worth it. The fish was about 7” x 3” and was sliced down the middle. I buy cod fillets from Donegal prime they are about 1 - 1.5 inches thick but Tommys fish was about half an inch thick. An absolute rip off and I’ll never be in it again. The onion rings were tasty but too expensive at £4.25 for 6.

Amazing management and food. Very hearty and delicious. It was more on the greasy side though, but it’s great if you like your food that way now and again.

Omg the food got 100% from us, great menu, loads of choices. I got the chicken and chips and my husband got the turkey and ham dinner, I had planned to get ice cream after mine but I couldn't even finish my dinner the portions were huge. The prices are so reasonable. Bathroom was clean, tables were cleaned straight after customers leave. The owner came out to ask was everything up to standards we said there were no complaints from us.

Have eaten from Tommy's since I was a wee girl going through Ballykelly on the weekends. Now it's almost a rule that when I'm over that way, we go to Tommy's. Never disappointed. The service and food are always excellent. Dining in has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are always happy to chat and recommend new things.

Great staff with a lovely friendly welcome, quick service BUT unfortunately Tommy has changed his cod supplier and its really nothing like it used to be, no longer award wining and defo not worth the price. The curry sauce has also changed and I Totally get that it's probably for costing but is it worth the loss of trade? I'd happily pay more for the good cod you used to serve. Thank heavens the chips are still the same........brilliant just like the staff.

£32 for 2 chicken goujons suppers, had to buy the dips and then 2 coke an 2 kids drinks. The goujons were cheap breaded frozen goujons! Dips are tiny, I could have cried. This is shocking. I know businesses have to increase their prices but to offer frozen goujons is not really acceptable.

I honestly could never fault the food in Tommy's but nearly forty quid for two fish suppers and two milk shakes is very steep. Spuds don't cost that much Tommy but you are pricing me and other Customers out of there. No reflection on the excellent staff or great Cafe just getting to expensive.

£7.80 for a sausage bap and a tea. Scandalous. Last time I ll enter.

For a big place advertising fish and chips you would think they would serve freshly made fish but its frozen dropped in a pan.. not great to say the least

We as a family stopped for years at Tommys when we were heading west or on our way back home and we were never disappointed in the quality and quantity of the food until now. The chicken Maryland was little more than a peas and gravy chip. The chicken gougons were small and hard and lay with the accompanying chip at the bottom of a paper bag. The curry chip was just ok but when we got home we discovered that we were missing a portion of chips which was charged for but not included. How could an award winning chip shop go from amazing to this!!! We had been warned by friends that the quality and quantity of food was no longer what it had been. The truth is that despite the small portions none of us finished our meal - it was totally tasteless and simply not with the calories. We won’t be back.

Rip off ordered steak supper steak was size of beef burger and really thin and the peas wasn't on the plate like it states in the menu Chicken gougons are frozen out of a bag not normal chip shop ones Also ordered 2 kids meals which was supposed to come with 2 sausages and only got 1 sausage cheap skate chippy and small portions large price came out hungry

Super friendly staff, really welcoming. Curry sauce is spot on. Kids portions were spot on and great toys. All in all excellent we'll be back again.

Getting a bit pricy compared to other chippies. Chips not as good as they were and portions small.

Extortionate prices with less than average food.

From all the piccies of chefs on the wall I was expecting a reasonable standard of food. My partner had fish and chips, the fish was an unappealing colour, the batter was claggy on there inside and hard on the out and the chips had a cardboard flavour My chicken burger was nothing special, just the usual freezer to fryer fayre. The bun was poor quality as were all the toppings, plastic cheese, sad lettuce and sour toms

On the way home from a hospital appointment we called into this place as we hadn't eaten since breakfast and were famished. I had the fish and chips and the missus had the southern fried chicken burger ( no chips) we had two teas the cost was £24 which we thought was quite expensive. The fish was definitely not cod and definitely not fresh, it was grey in appearance after the batter was removed, the batter was greasy and inedible, it also had a bitter chemical taste, the chips were not real or very nice in flavour, the peas were pretty bad too, the burger was bog standard freezer to fryer with the obligatory tasteless salad, all in all very dissatisfied with the meal, I've had better from a chippy van takeaway. Not anywhere near worth the money we paid. To add to this we both felt nauseous later on our way home. I will not be returning and would not recommend the food at the establishment.

The staff could not have done more for us, we were stopping off before heading onto catch a ferry in Donegal and in a bit of a rush - they were so friendly, helpful and made sure our food was brought out quickly. The food was incredible - just what the doctor ordered! Highly recommend popping in - thank you everyone in Tommy’s! 😊

Fish soaking in oil chips small. Burgers small very oily again. Quality not what it was. Customer pay good money.

Ordered 2 chicken boxes for takeaway. Checked my receipt when I got home and seen there was an extra charge of £2.45 for each chicken box. Called the shop to ask and was told it was for cheese. Shocking!

Worst food I have eaten fish was swimming in grease chips hard cut your mouth milkshake was watery rubbish never be back

As a vegetarian with one choice here at Tommy's, I decided to ask for a large bag of chips at a costly enough price of £3.90. How disappointing this was with a measly portion of chips...never again will I go back here..

The food here was not good chips have been fried about 4 times it's a shame as it used to be a great chippy.

Stopped for take out passing through ordered 2 fish suppers 1 sausage supper. Have had take aways there on many occasions, and we were always pleased but this one was really bad. Fish was soggy as were chips and it was not warm at all. Will not be spending hard earned money on take aways there again!!

Ordered a steak box with pepper sauce, was very disappointed, the pepper sauce tasted like vinegar and when I was eating the stuff that didn’t have pepper sauce on it..I got jagged in the mouth and what tasted like wood I spat it out, when I looked it was very pointy and could actually stick it through the takeaway box which you can see in the photos below. Very dangerous. Not happy with the experience and will not be ordering from there again.

Just stopped in as I fancied a curry chip. To say I was shocked when I was asked for £6.45 is an understatement. It's a portion of chips with grainy cheap curry sauce. One and only time I will be fleeced in this place. Ridiculous rip off!!!??

Food is nice, it's always been a little more expensive than your usual chip shop but it's getting extremely expensive for basic items. To charge £9.55 for a chips, cheese and sauce for a child is unjustifiable.

Still No 1 in my view for Cod + chips

Decided to stop here on the way home from an event as we had been here a couple of times before (we are not local to the area) We regretted this as we were charged £4.95 for what can only be described as a small so called “large” chip & curry. This was not the worst of it however as we also got 2x chip, cheese and curry which ended up costing £6.70 each. £6.70 each!!! All were very small portions and truly nothing special to write home about. Advise to save your money and drive a little further to get something you really want for a reasonable price. Definitely will not be back.

1st time customer and more than likely last time. I've heard great reviews about the food etc. I was in today to grab something quick, I ordered a portion of chicken goujons, plus a curry dip and a 500ml bottle of coke. The chicken was tough, and rubbery, to which I got 4 of them for the price of £4.65 that's £1.16 each, the curry dip was £1.70, and the 500ml coke was £2.05. In all chip shops you would get a few chips with your order, but in Tommy's you only get what you order. Not recommend stick to a local small chip shop as they know how to treat the customers. Staff couldn't help more so no fault there

It's not fancy but a great wee place for an all day breakfast on the road between Coleraine and Derry and very friendly staff.

Food was ok but not the best overall it was over priced and chicken burger 🍔 was very over cooked but chips 🍟 where nice but way over priced £19+ for chicken burger, chip and chicken leg and chip and one can of coke.

Called here after travelling for work all day. Ordered a Mexican sub, a small chip and a small curry dip to the cost of £11.75. Asked for just salt, no vinegar. Came covered in vinegar. Mexican sub was cold, and as you can see from the photo attached - the chips were greasy, soggy and balled together. Took the order back to the kiosk and ask could I have a refund as I was travelling and hadn’t time for it to be made fresh. The friendly server took my order back and apologised. About 3 minutes later a very stern looking grey haired man which I can only assume is the manager, came over with my receipt and said my Mexican sub was fine, the meat was fresh and the chips were fine ‘they are new potatoes, fried this morning and they are in a bag, what do you expect they will stick together’. He then stated that in his opinion the food was fine and no refunds unless things are, in his opinion, worth refunding. I stated If he brought the food back I would show him the quality and how little was eaten. I did not get offered my food back, I did not get offered a fresh meal (I would not have taken it anyway) and his manner overall was dismissive and unkind. After many regular visits here with family and friends - none of us will return. Absolutely awful and incredibly expensive. Disappointing.

On our way back from shopping in the maiden city, we stopped at Tommy's for dinner after hearing that the food was great. How wrong we were. First off we decided to sit in. You find a table and remember the number for when you go up to the counter to order. The young staff members were nice enough and handed us the menu as we walked in. Straight away i noticed chips and bits of food lying below the table. Also the table surface was sticky and even the menu card seemed soggy and greasy. We ordered a fish supper and a cheeseburger supper. I know that inflation has hit hard recently but to ask £11.50 for a fish supper is ridiculous. The cheeseburger supper was £9.50 and again that is pricey compared to other chip shops. The food arrived promptly but i'm afraid it was a big disappointment. The fish looked unappetising and wasn't big considering the price. The cod didn't taste fresh and was quite dry and i suspect was frozen and not fresh. The batter wasn't gold and crispy like other chip shops but was a really weird texture and taste and it was greasy and mushy instead of dry and crisp and we actually had to squeeze the fish between napkins to absorb some of the grease. The taste reminded us of bad cooking oil that was used too many times and went off. The chips were not much better and the portion size was small. Half of them were inedible and were just hard and burnt pieces from the bottom of the fryer. The cheeseburger was not good for the price. The meat was just a thin circular disc and looked like a frozen burger you would buy in Iceland. The cheese was a square slice of synthetic cheese you would get in a cheap microwave burger. Taste wise it wasn't great and reminded me of a mobile chip van burger. All in all we felt let down by the quality and prices and won't be back. We did have a whipped ice cream when leaving and it was ok. It's sad to see a former award winning chippy be so bad and the pictures on the wall showed Tommy's in it's glory days but sadly cutting corners with cheap tasteless food is inexcusable and as i've said the prices are way too much for such low quality food.

In the past we have taken our food out from here and was always good chippie food. However today we decided to eat in and to be honest I wish we hadn’t stopped. A battered sausage at £7.70 isn’t cheap but if it’s inedible then it’s a dear place. The sausages tasted like they had been bought in and not battered in the place, the chips tasted like they had been fried 4 or 5 times . My wife’s was just ok but I have to say this place has gone so far downhill it will need a tow to get it back up. Never again for me .

So impressed with Tommy's, stopped here passing a few times and felt it was definitely worth reviewing as we are here for a breakfast now. Food was so fresh and first class. The ladies who served us were very friendly, polite and very efficient workers, nothing is too much trouble. Place is spotlessly clean as well. This business could lead the way for anyone else in their field, keep up the good work.

A very unpleasant experience was had whilst dining here. We were overcharged and the service was extremely poor.

If you fancy paying £10.70 for a fish supper where the fish is burned in places. Fill your boots. £3.90 for a large bag £3.50 for a standard to small bag of chips. Cost for a family of 5 is £35-45 before you start buying...

Tommy's is a family tradition, so I am probably bias. Good food, large portions and very friendly staff. We sat in however, you can get a take away. As well as chippy food they do ice cream, tea, coffee, milkshakes and soft drinks. Level access, toilet is wheelchair friendly. Comfortable seating. The wee man got a pack of toy cars with his kids meal, highchair chairs available. I always recommend a Tommy's.

Quite expensive for a chip shop

place is away nuts looked at the menu £9.95 for a salad bap!! staff are nothing but rude and arrogant and the appearance of them is horrible. food wasn’t great greasy more than anything 100% will not be back unless prices change and staff wash up.

Prices are absolutely shocking, foods nothing but pure grease dripping out of it, the staffs attitude & hygiene is disgusting, wouldn't recommend its away to the dogs!

Best fish and chips we've had for a very long time. Great and quick service, friendly helpful staff, comfortable seating, and spotlessly clean. Also easy parking. Highly recommend. ps and Tommy's homemade icecream is something special as well!

I'm still going to give it 5 stars because it was lovely, but if I was to say anything bad about it, it would be that you would need to sell a kidney to eat in it.
