Wow, just incredible. The food here is on another level. The atmosphere is so relaxed, but the food it so exquisitely high end. Such a special place.

Fantastic!! Wonderful quirky pub restaurant with lovely staff serving great food. We phoned ahead cause we were going to be early for our booking, no problem our table was ready in the dog friendly snug in front of a log burning fire. Just what we needed after a long walk in the rain. We had complemtry homemade tomato crisps with aioli which tasted great. We both chose the pate for starter and both agreed it was the nicest we had ever had and we class ourselves as connoisseurs on chicken liver pate. We then chose roast dinners which we both enjoyed very much, generous portions of everything and very tasty. Finally I opted for the cheeseboard to finish of a superb lunch and experience. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Really, really, really super restaurant not far from Ruthin Castle where six of us were staying. They have this really interesting take on a menu where the main courses are smaller so you can mix and match or have two each - very clever. But actually we stuck to the traditional starter and main and all our food was delicious.The only very minor criticism is that with people ordering so many dishes there is a lot of tooing and froing from the kitchen and maybe they could do with some more staff. Would definitely recommend (our taxi driver Roberto said 'Oh I see you've chosen the best restaurant).

We have known about the White Horse for a number of years but never got around to a visit (too far, too cold, and other lame excuses). So glad we finally did it. Warm and welcoming with an unpretentious, but mouthwatering menu of nibbles and plates, the food was outstanding, as was the service. We will definitely be back.

Walking passed. Decided to call in for coffee. 2 and a bit hours later after a lovely lunch continued our walk. Very friendly. Lovely food. Very comfortable. We were there by chance. Well worth visiting again. I'll be back.

Amazing food. Cooked to perfection!! We had the pate, and the peppers starters... gorgeous. The walnuts with the pate really made it. I had the cod loin with curred muscles, devine!! My partner had the belly pork. Would definitely recommend!! It is tapas style so they are smaller plates than a standard meal but you definitely get plenty. We had starters one main each and a bottle of wine, perfect for us. Would suggest an extra main if you are a big eater

“The White Horse Pub” seamlessly blends modernity with its Welsh roots, evident from its exterior resembling something out of Soho yet firmly planted in Wales. The accommodating staff made our visit delightful, graciously accommodating our golden retriever by relocating us to the snug. As for the food, the risotto stood out as a highlight, boasting incredible flavors. Overall, our experience left us fully satisfied with a delightful Welsh pub meal. A big thank you to the staff for their hospitality, extending warmth not only to us but also to our furry companion.

Great pub, good selection of beers and Aspall cider on tap, pool table and fire on in the snug, food on the pricey side, but it is top quality 👌

We came here at the end of summer last year. We had a very nice meal, I can recommend the starter Shrimps in nutmeg sauce, Delicious! They also had lovely crisp white serviettes, and even a couple of blankets on the back of the chairs, in case it gets chilly, nice touch! Lovely drive through stunning countryside. Cramped table by bar; booked well in advance. Service appalling. Starters served 10 + minutes apart. Mains served before our starters eaten. Steak full of gristle, no streak knives provided. On complaining waitress stated "Chef says that happens with steak"! Utter nonsense; we are major quality beef producers in the area. Our bill was incorrect, charged twice for same drinks, again with no apology! We were dining as a taster evening for groups of London families visiting. Would certainly not recommend this venue.

Revisiting the village I grew up in. I left in 1975!!!!!! Delighted to find my local still going strong. Met with family and had a delicious and hearty meal. Enjoyed reminiscing about our days growing up in the area whilst enjoying delicious, quality food and excellent service. It was good to see you so well supported and will definitely return on our next trip back home - which will be sooner rather than later!

Very pretentious place. Told we had to give notice for vegetarian food! Menu very biased towards meat eaters. Unfriendly from start to finish. Couldn't wait to leave the place to be honest.

What an absolute gem of a place. I have to begin my saying that the customer service was outstanding, we were so welcomed. We decided to eat outside and the staff could not of been more helpful and obliging. The food was amazing and the setting just perfect. Thank you for having us.

The White Horse does not serve the standard "pub grub." It's really a restaurant set in a very old pub building, although there is an informal bar on one side of the building if you're just looking for a beer. It's a warm and friendly place and the service is good. The food is generally excellent and interesting. The chef likes to feature meat and cream so it's probably not a great venue for vegans. My only (minor) gripe is that the wine list could be wider. Recommended.

What a joy to come across a charming little restaurant in beautiful surroundings not too far from our own doorstop. The food was delicious and devoured by our family party. A thoroughly enjoyable relaxing Sunday Lunch enjoyed by all. Thank You.

We had lunch here today. Only called in for a "beer and some chips" but ended having a full lunch - including the complimentary espresso martinis at the end! The menu is tilted towards Spanish and is executed in a very lovely way. The food is very good. We could not fault the service, environment (love the different menus from class restaurants on the wall) and overall feel of the place. Lucy (?) the owner came over for a chat and it is clear these people want to provide something different in the area (you have!) What an unexpected treat. Thank you. We'll be back.

We are lucky enough to live locally to this restaurant and have been here several times since lockdown and the food is always wonderful. We visited for dinner with friends on Saturday and they (and we) were so impressed with the experience. The cosy and relaxed atmosphere, friendly yet discreet service, but above all the amazing selection of dishes - each of which was beautifully executed and full of flavour. In my opinion the food at the White Horse is unbeatable - it equals anything you could find in a big city and we are really lucky to have such a brilliant establishment locally. Menu highlights were the Asian style belly pork, the sea bass in chowder, the beef in red wine butter, the burrata salad...basically everything we ordered. Dessert was also fabulous - wish we'd had room for the cheeseboard too. We will be back as soon as we can get babysitters!

Really fantastic food. We've been here twice in the last week. As a vegetarian I think its some of the best cooking I've had in the UK. The fried stuffed courgette flowers were absolutely outstanding, the tempura batter crisp and light, the enriched herby ricotta stuffing luxurious. Wow!! So impressed as well with the beetroot and whipped goats cheese with hazelnut pate . The meat and fish was outstanding too , I was informed by my friends and family. Pudding wise, the homemade vanilla icecream with the sherry was so good it was re-ordered. The pannacotta was another winner.

I’ve been here a number of times over the years but not a great deal after Covid. It’s always been excellent and was again looking forward to some culinary delights Menu has been small plates for quite some time now and decided to give the pork belly, lamb and cheeseboard a go. Was given the usual complimentary homemade paprika crisps and dip a lovely touch and tasty to! The pork belly was very nice but I honestly feel it’s a bit overpriced and considering that belly pork is a cheap cut of meat, there wasn’t a great deal but tasted good none the less. The lamb was amazing beautiful cuts of Lamb served pink with fresh taste of peas bursting with flavour and the salty bacon cutting through delicious ! Finished off with the cheeseboard which was lovely really lovely cracked which looked homemade?? Tasty chutney and good quality cheeses but I have to say my only whim was that one of the cheeses (Brie) was taken straight out of the fridge to my plate. It should really be left out for a while to get near room temperature but won’t stop me coming back again. Personally I would like them to offer more main meals as well as the small plates in the future

Been twice in a week after discovering this hidden gem. May well be off the beaten track but worth enduring the slightly nervous drive for the last few miles down narrow country tracks to experience the wonderful food Presented to standards akin to fine dining with each morcel tasting fantastic using seasonal ingredients and a menu thst changes weekly. Memorable and will return when I want to celebrate a future event. Bill was £60 the first time and £110 the second time but was certainly worth it.

Lovely location, we sat outside in the sunshine for our drinks but ventured inside for our main meals.Small plates seemed very expensive for what we got. Pleasant staff tho!

Would actually say it’s one of the best restaurants in Wales for quality food with exceptional flavours and brilliant staff. Family business as well using local produce. I travel the whole of Wales and ate in most places over the last 15 years and this place is exceptional 👍

Disappointment. We read the reviews online and thought it would be nice to stop off on the way home to Staffordshire, leaving the air show In Rhyl. We were travelling on our motorbike. We asked if there was a table free, as we turned up ‘on spec’ at 6.15pm. Although the place was deserted, we were offered a table outside, saying there were no tables available being all pre booked. Which we accepted. We waited 10-15 minutes before I had to go back in to ask for the menus. The nice young lad came out with them and explained the menu to us and we perused and waited again. Another 15 minutes passed and we had no service, though three other customers had been attended to. Now nearing 7pm I had to use the facilities and went back inside, to a yet still sparsely occupied restaurant. Still waiting outside, when the table next to us was offered a table inside and they rejected it, saying they were happy outside, they didn’t offer the table to us. The only thing different was our attire. I was disgusted that they’d not treat all customers the same. We didn’t end up eating there. I wouldn’t want to spend my money there as we weren’t good enough.

We stayed in the nearby holiday cabins and had read the reviews for the White Horse. We were disappointed that it didn't open till Wednesday however........wowWorth the waitThe food was absolutely outstanding. I had Crispy Belly Pork as a starter and the other half had the crab.....both clearly fresh and perfectly put together......The main came and I thought it couldn't get better but it did.......Wagu of Beef which came with truffle chips and we ordered a side of Brocoli......unbelievably good.....the beef just melt in your mouth and the accompanying sides were a perfect match.......Desert Even better.....we both had the Nutella cheesecake.......it has to be the most delicious thing I've ever tasted......With a nice bottle of wine and the friendly staff who despite the Covid crisis has smiles on their faces and couldn't do enough to help, it made for a perfect nightThe whole lot coming to £100 ish and worth every single pennyOutstanding

What a great decision.Lovely little pub restaurant, staff super friendly & helpful.We eat out a lot & like to think we know decent food. This was up there with some of our favourites.Pate fab but the focaccia it comes with made it.Server recommended their signature pork belly, no crackling so hubby hesitant but gave it ago, glad he did was amazing .Terrine with little croutons that just melted.Halibut & scallops in a chicken stock, sauce so flavourful.Lamb dish with mini Shepard’s pie on side was the best. The sides carrots in a honey glaze, truffle & parmesan chips ✔️When a chef takes as much care over sides & veg as the mains you know he knows his stuff.No puds as too full.We enjoyed it so much we booked again for tonight. It is rare (very rare!) that I eat out with a group of friends and every single person at the table absolutely loves every single thing that is put in front of them. Not only was the food outstanding, the service was excellent too. The menu was mouthwatering, from nibbles through to puds, only surpassed by the food itself. We had a range of the options from the menu and everything was even better than it sounded, which was hard because every single thing sounded amazing. If I was to point out everything that was great about this restaurant I would be writing all day. The chef is something special, that is for sure. All of us have eaten in restaurants all around the world, from Michelin starred to street food and all of us were blown away by this restaurant in a tiny village in North Wales. It is well worth going out of your way to try this place. I just wish it was closer to my home, I would eat there regularly if it was. Fabulous. I can not recommend it highly enough.

Love this place! Wagyu was amazing! And the truffle chips! Wow! Can't recommend enough. Felt very safe in regards to COVID. Very warm put feeling! Only thing to mention was there was quite a lot of flies about which was strange but other than that!

Our first visit for some months because of the restrictions. Excellent food as usual.We felt very 'safe' because they had carefully thought out & put into practise a one way system, minimised handling & suitably protected with visors etc. We will be back very soon.

The White Horse Hendrerewydd is now fully open. The hospitality is excellent and the food sublime, what a better way to spend Sunday lunch overlooking the beautiful Vale of Clwyd. Lucy is the perfect host and makes you feel very welcome. The Crispy Pork belly is to die for, amazing. The Beef Sunday lunch with Yorkshire pudding is incredible. Thank you.

Despite North Wales still being in lockdown the team at The White Horse have been able to provide my wife and I with 2 superb Sunday Roasts as a takeaway. The serving was very generous, perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. It’s obviously not the same as eating in the restaurant (my presentation doesn’t do the food justice) but it’s the next best thing. Keep up the excellent work.

Another excellent couple of evenings here as we returned home for a short trip. The pate & black pudding starters are excellent. The liver was very good for a main & the steak baguettes were as good as ever. The lamb pie on the Friday Night menu was really excellent & I hope it makes its way into the regulars menu
