The White Horse Inn Balmedie in Aberdeenshire

This restaurant/hotel was closed for a while and this was our first chance to visit since it reopened. The service was excellent as was the food. Good restaurants seem to be few and far between nowadays. All we get are national brands, so its good to see an independent offering a great night out.

We have just enjoyed an excellent family Christmas meal. We had two children & a toddler & they were accommodated easily. The waiting staff were lovely and helpful. This is our second visit, having had a bar lunch previously. We will definitely be back.

We went for lunch today and was not disappointed, the manager was very attentive, we sat out side as it was a lovely day , we had our dogs so they got dog ice cream and were given a bowl of fresh water , the food was really tasty would definitely return! Thank you for a nice experience

Booked in for 2 nights, arrived on the Friday and was shown to our room which was a nice touch. Went for dinner and it was really nice. The staff couldn’t have been better and the food was excellent. Had dinner and “a few” drinks on the Saturday, and again enjoyed everything. The rooms aren’t super modern but aren’t old fashioned either. Clean and everything worked, so that’s all we needed. Also the bed was amazingly comfortable. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again .

Stayed in the White Horse Inn for just one night I wish it could’ve been longer. The room was spotless and bed was very comfortable had a hood nights sleep what more could you ask for. I couldn’t find fault with anything. If you use the restaurant I’d strongly recommend the 8oz Sirloin Steak it was absolutely delicious. I tend to get a steak when I’m staying at a hotel and this was without a doubt the best I’ve had. My wife had the ravioli and she said hers was delicious as well. I can’t fault any of the staff who were very attentive, helpful and friendly and a special mention to Raj he came from the kitchen and chatted with us and told us they’re plans are for the future and it’s looking bright indeed. It’s a short drive or a nice stroll to the beach with lovely sand dunes to explore and children’s play park for those with children. We will definitely be back sooner rather than later.

This little hotel is quietly situated just a few miles outside Aberdeen. It is within walking distance to stunning beauty spots such as Balmedie Beach, and if you're a keen walker, just a few miles from Newburgh Beach where you can watch the seals basking and relaxing in the water. Raj, Bobby and their team are just so lovely and welcoming. Raj and Bobby are always friendly and happy to do whatever it takes to make your stay enjoyable. We had our evening meals at the hotel, Raj is a really good chef with a wide repertoire to his skills. Our meals were very enjoyable and well priced. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and fresh but dated, however, Raj & Bobby currently have some remodelling and upgrading work going on in some of the suites. They are reasonably priced which make staying in and around Aberdeen affordable. It would be nice if they did breakfast, but we were assured the local cafe did a good breakfast, which they did, and is only a short walk away. Thank you to the team - Raj, Bobby, Sandra and Bob, and the two young waitresses - for a very pleasant stay.

We have eaten a few times at the White Horse since it opened and every time the food has been superb. Service is great and when popping in just for a drink there is such a great atmosphere. My daughter claims it’s the best pizza from their pizza oven

Excellent food served for a party of nine. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Great service by serving staff too. Recommended.

First time back since it reopened. Food was fantastic. Plenty selection on the menu, with amazing home made pizzas. (think they should also consider takeaway option for these) Staff attentive, and it looks to be dog friendly in the lounge, and the log burner was on. Even has a doggy station in the foyer with a selection of free dog treats, and water. We will be back in again soon, most likely with our dog.

Came here for a birthday celebration. Great menu, fast service and lovely staff. Looking forward to coming back!

Heard the White Horse had opened with new owners and booked a table of 12 for a surprise lunch for my Aunts 80th Birthday. Communications with the restaurant was regarding our cake, balloons, allergies and guest numbers was excellent. Reception by staff was warm and friendly, the restaurant and nearby bar area was very pleasant and the lounge area with wood burner looked lovely and inviting. We were there for a meal and drinks and all the guests including the birthday girl and a 8 year old child all thoroughly enjoyed their delicious and expertly cooked food. Service was attentive and pleasant and no issues encountered . A great time had by all in a lovely setting. We shall return again.

Cosy atmosphere with log burning stove in lounge area, friendly and attentive staff, home made freshly cooked food.

First time at White Horse since it reopened under new management. We were very impressed with the food which was served nice & hot. Staff very pleasant too. Keep it up Mario & staff!

We have eaten here twice since it has reopened and both times the food was lovely and the staff very friendly. We’ve also been a few times just for drinks too and there’s always a great atmosphere and is lovely and cosy with the log burner on cold afternoons.

Very friendly waiting staff who served us well. Food was delicious and well-presented and arrived promptly. Restaurant was clean and beautifully designed. Will certainly be coming back.
