The old fire station bakery in Salford

I popped in here (it's opposite Salford Uni) with a friend to kick off the day with a Pain Suisse- a lovely chocolate pastry!

A new bar opposite the university. We went just after lunch on a Wednesday and it was pretty busy with both takeaway food as well as food and drinks on the premises. The bread that we snacked on was gorgeous and the stout - locally brewed - was really good. Can't wait to go again !

This new venue is brilliant! The sourdough which is made on the premises is absolutely delicious and forms the basis for several dishes on the menu. The menu isn't huge, but sometimes that is an advantage. I visited first with a young grandson, who thought the vegan sausage sandwich/roll was 'amazing', whilst I raved about the spicy smashed avocado and tomato on sourdough option. The second time I arranged to meet a friend there and, again, we both thought the food was really super. Unfortunately we didn't have room for the cakes or the wonderful sounding brioche with fruit topping - will have to make a special visit to try those! The atmosphere is great - very informal and relaxing. The place was full each time I've been; you may have to wait for a table, but each time we found one quickly. The staff are lovely and helpful. The sourdough baguette I bought when leaving was really tasty and lasted longer than many sourdough breads do. I will definitely be back and have been recommending it to family and friends.

Waiting for a train I saw that this was nearby and popped in for a drink. The Hazy IPA (my first) was absolutely fantastic but Luckily I just had time for a piece of Basque cheese cake which was delicious....very very good service (I was able to sample a couple of beers) great selection of beers brewed in-house and incredible looking food with all breads and pastries baked in-house too.... can't wait to get back...... wonderful place with great atmosphere.

Great place for breakfast and light food. The vibe and atmosphere is great. The food was superp. The staff and service was obove and beyond, all staff were chearful and welcoming. Highly recommended.
