I visited this place a couple of weeks ago with my family, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere was inviting and lively, and the food was not only delicious but also well-prepared. It was a wonderful outing that left us all satisfied.

Our last meal in Greece. The food was wonderful and the owner was super friendly. We shared the fried feta, squid and moussaka. Would recommend!!!

Good food overall, although not something exceptional. I expected a bit more from the meatballs with hylopites, but it was not very close to the traditional taste, somehow sweeter than it should too. The mix grill was decent enough (although they should throw a loukaniko in), with nice crispy fries and the moussaka was pretty good too. The price to portion size ratio was not as good as some other places if you are looking for value, but as I said it was a nice meal overall.

We returned for our Daughters birthday and enjoyed another amazing night in the restaurant. The whole family agreed we couldn't fault anything about the food, the very friendly and helpful but not at all pushy service. We had a throughly enjoyable night. Thank you to the team, throughly recommend.

What a shame. We've been going here regularly for years. We went on Saturday and it was a disaster from start to finish. The waitresses didn't know what they were doing and were too busy polishing cutlery. The food was all microwaved. The vine leaves were out of a tin from Lidl. The food which came out hot on the outside was cold in the middle, to which they reheated it in a microwave again, with the salad on the plate. I ordered lamb which, due to the fact it was so overcooked, no longer tasted of lamb. We ordered bread 4 times, and on the 5th time, we were told that it wasn't on the order so that's why we haven't had it. I had a chat on the side with the manager who couldn't care less, even if he was listening, which he wasn't. They then hit us with a 15% service charge. One waitress actually came over and asked us if we could tell that the management had changed.... tells you all you need to know. My brother-in-law, who was there too, is Greek and was totally embarrassed to be there. Shocking service, even worse food. Never going back.

Lovely venue, a warm welcome and great service. Great menu and all meals were stunning. Mains all large meals so you won’t go home hungry. Can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu.

Very very good food, service, and overall experience. Calamari extremely fresh, tzakiti some of the best I’ve ever had, excellent pitta bread, souvlaki huge portion , great flavour. Beef Stifado excellent, slightly under seasoned but no issues. Meat super tender, rice and potatoes superb. More on the expensive side compared to other Greek restaurants but the quality of the produce and how it was prepared was worth the added hike in the price. Overall 8.9/10. 100% worth the visit, would hope the standards would be the same on a busy weekend.

Birthday party on a Tuesday evening, so we anticipated some of the fish dishes wouldn’t be available. We were wrong. Full menu. Everything delicious with fab service, no one left hungry. Highly recommended!

Has to be the best authentic Greek restaurant by far in the North West.

Just been here tonight for a birthday and what a place, from the very beginning we was welcomed in and nothing was an issue. The hosts where especially accomodating for my 15 month old daughter even bringing her over a greek book that played animal sounds to entertain her haha. The food was absolutely amazing and the beer was excellent too (vergina black and red) will definitely be recommended to everyone I know and hopefully going back myself. Thankyou so much everyone at the new era Greeks! You were amazing!!

A hidden gem on the outskirts of St helens Town centre , food is amazing , smells and tastes like you could be dining out on one of the greek islands . Large selection of dishes on the menu , large selection of wines including many Greek wines and Greek lagers . Visited here a fortnight ago with my wife for a late lunch early dinner wanting to try something new in the town and was really impressed so we brought our friends back and they were blown away how amazing this place was , food , service, decor . They said they would definitely be back . Definitely a place to visit if you want a nice chilled out atmosphere with amazing food .

Our first visit ,we decided to go there quite late. We were very lucky to get a table as restaurant looked very busy. Straight away we’ve been welcomed by restaurant manager Chris and he was very friendly yet professional and looked after us. The food was lovely , fresh ,and arrived quickly. Portions were huge!! Very homely atmosphere, restaurant is very cosy at evening time and you can listen to real Greek music. Lovely experience and we had a great night! Definitely would return.

Fabtastic night out as a couple in St Helens. Quality food, large portions, large selection of meals and first class service and hospitality.

Booked a table for a party of 7, food and service lovely and everyone enjoyed it. Great atmosphere although did think the music was a bit loud. The downside: everyone looked at menu online before going, much more expensive on the night, need to update website. Also a 10% service charge added to bill. Not expecting that! Didn't see that stated anywhere.

Such a shame that the service and attitude of staff let this place down. We don't eat meat so the fact they had a fair few fish options made the place really appealing to us....everything we ordered they didnt have! Settled for the only option which was Red Mullet - which was 'ok' at best! Also our sides didn't arrive, had to ask twice for them. Service is odd with several young servers all waiting on the same table so you get ask anyhting nobody knows whats been ordered, asked etc.... All being said we gave benefit of the doubt and booked again using online booking system, this time bringing our friends with us. We paid £20 deposit to make the booking. Our friends had to cancel last minute due to child sickness, my husband and I still dined, had a 3 course meal each but when we go the bill they refused to deduct the £20 deposit stating it was because our friends couldn't make it. There were plenty of empty tables so it wasn't like they had turned business away, plus we spent a decent amount of money anyway, over £100! I suggested they deduct just £10 as I appreciated it was half a booking but that was a certain no no! It just makes no sense, if we booked over the phone we wouldn't have paid a deposit and therefore not penalised, not very fair at all. After an akward, what felt like a confrutation, with the female manager, we just gave up and paid as she was making a scene with us and made us very very uncomfortable. Safe to say that refusing to deduct our £20 deposit and us having to pay £20 EXTRA for a £100 meal, has cost them our custom in the future. We would never return to an establishment that treat their customers like this. Terrible & what we consider greedy business! Just be aware, the service and treatment is shocking.

If you want to be ripped off, go to this restaurant food not bad prices are at least a third more than advertised online, young girl who served us did well , but the owners do not know how to run a restaurant how they have survived so far I will never know is it any wonder st Helen's gets a bad name for restaurants

We dined here for the first time on Friday evening. Wow, this place is fantastic. Our host was Jane, she was delightful. The food was absolutely delicious. I had lamb with sweet potatoes, and my husband had stuffed peppers. We wasn't dissapointed, the food was amazing, very tasty and full of flavour. Great portion sizes too. We can't wait to return again to sample something else from the menu. Thank you Jane for a lovely evening. 😍

Have had takeaway from here many times and the food is always good. Today we dined in the restaurant and everything was just as good in person with the addition of great customer service

Been to The New Era Greeks 4 times now in recent months and most recently, Christmas Eve. The food has always been phenomenal - really, really good quality and not too long wait on food from ordering. The front of house service however, is lacking and needs improving. Drink orders/delivery is painstakingly slow despite there being ample staff available. It should be a given that your drink order should be taken within 5 mins of sitting down and you should never need to ask for more drinks throughout your meal. Furthermore, the younger waitresses need to smile more - it's part of the job! Despite the service, which is easily remedied, I would recommend this restaurant and I will be returning just for the food alone.

Went here for Xmas day food was not good I could swear the lamb was actually mutton my mother came down ill afterwards the level of the food has gone down dramatically compared to prior years. And the table service not a smile in sight!!

Absolutely love this place. The food was so good, I would highly recommend visiting if you're in the area. We visited for the first time for dinner and were told they do a different weekly dips for the bread. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The food was also really delicious, we had various starters and shared two mains and everything was great. Looking forward to visiting again!

Amazing Greek restaurant. Had prawns hallumi chicken with chips and salad and the mixed seafood grill. Both loved our meals and can’t wait to go back again.

So disappointed the service was terrible and we were generally ignored. My alcohol free drink was not alcohol free! The food took forever to arrive (on a quiet night) the presentation was good and first course was good. However the order by one of the group of octopus was poor and overcooked also it was a special request to be a main course rather than starter and promised this would be the case. However the portion was a starter and the guest left hungry.

Nobody even said hello on the way in only aangry look from the manager. Rubbish service (waited for someone to take our order for 1 hour). Food was good but that was about it as the waiter drank wine sitting at a table in the corner while people were trying to get his attention. We had the feeling that they didn't want us there. Nobody asked if we would like a desert or even if the meal was OK. Absolutely awful service.

Fantastic food and lovley atmosphere

We visited the other night and couldn’t fault a thing! The service was excellent and it was the best Greek food we’ve ever had. We had the new era mixed grill and the mixed souvlaki and everything was cooked to perfection. The portion sizes were great. We couldn’t finish everything because we were so stuffed and our waiter kindly packed up the leftovers to bring home. Our waiter was attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a great evening and we’ll definitely be back soon :)

My husband and I absolutely love New Era, both to eat in and take away. The moussaka is delicious and, as a big meat fan, my husband can't get enough of the souvlaki. We love to order in for guests when they come to visit and they're always astounded you can get such good Greek food in st Helens. We even ordered in for our very small scale post COVID wedding.

Can't complain about anything here really, and should really be five stars apart from the fact that Greek food isn't my thing. That isn't their fault

First time visit to the restaurant. We booked for a family birthday. The restaurant atmosphere was fantastic with a real taverna feel complemented by a mix of Greek and English music playing softly in the background. Our service was excellent, helpful and very polite. We never felt rushed, but valued as customers . The food was excellent, it was clearly homemade and had been freshly prepared by a chef who has been cooking Greek food for many years. Overall it was a great night, thank you to all the team and we will definitely be returning.

Spent Sunday afternoon celebrating my mother-in-laws (who has to have GF foods) birthday. Usually the GF selection is very small but at the New Ear Greeks, there was so much for her to choose from. Food was good BUT Georgia's service was absolutely brilliant and a credit to the establishment, warm friendly and genuine, we will be back soon, thank you :)

We got 4 lamb gyros. Using this place is a treat for us as we wouldn't usually spend over £30 on a takeaway and this cost over £60. We got this exact same order once before and have raved about it but unfortunately tonight it was extremely disappointing. The lamb was mostly fat and seriously not worth so much money. That said, I would order again and hope that tonight was just a one off.

Visited as part of a 60th birthday party and this place didn’t disappoint. The starter of feta wrapped in filo pastry with honest was incredible. Most of the party had mixed grills and they said the food was superb. Really impressed with the staffs service - even down to recommending her personal favourite desert.

Strange taste on the chicken ..almost bitter..everything unappealing really..chunks of misshapen tomato and onion..almost as if whoever is cutting up the salad cba.. I always find salad nicer when sliced thinner or smaller chunks rather whole massive chunks of cucumber..dressing on the feta cheese Greek salad tastless. Massive waste of money IMHO

Stunning food. Attentive service, this place is a real gem and worth the trip into St Helens if you are not local. The food is so authentically Greek we automatically were transported back to our summer holidays when eating our pita with tzatiki - mouth is watering as I am typing this :-) Reasonably priced, beautiful atmosphere. 100% recommend

Ordered a takeaway on Christmas Eve with family was undoutably one of the best takeaways have ever had! Everything was 5 star, quality, taste, portion size and value for money! It also evident that the foodnis made in a tradition greek style and this was a pleasure to eat! Highly recommended, best Greek restaurant in the North West at present!!

Says open at 1pm and and outside the restaurant at 1:40 all closed up.. don’t answer the phone….

Collected takeaway on December 29th, when got home (20 minute drive away) we missed 2 items. Emailed that evening to let them know, then called a few days later and they confirmed It would be resolved. Sent another email on January 7th, with no response and no refund received. So my experience is this is a thieving restaurant, so best avoid. Shame as the rest of food was very tasty. Paul.

We went for my husbands birthday . The food was excellent . We were greeted by friendly staff . We were offered a traditional menu and drinks / bread straight away . We didn’t try the wine , however I would expect to pay £25-£30 on a good wine for a meal out

Lovely atmosphere, good service and the food is next level. The portions are huge almost certain you can't finish it! The prices are reasonable based on the portion size! Highly recommended!

I love their food when we are in. But delivery is a joke, if they can't afford to take orders they shouldn't take it. After more than 2h wait we have been told that our order's been cancelled. That wasn't first time, they did it few times! Highly disappointed again.
