We were out for a drive in north Antrim. We stopped In carrickfergus for a walk about, it was cold, we fancied something to eat to warm us up. As we walked into the Windrose it felt really welcoming. The staff took us tour seats overlooking the marina. When we both look at the menu we both knew what we wanted “sea food chowder” and it was so good and well presented, it was very filling, the wheaten bread served along with the chowder was delicious ,lovey and moist perfect. Will definitely be back.

Would not allow me in at 7.35pm on a Wednesday because the kitchen stops taking orders at 7.30. I was a lone traveller ready for a decent meal and a few drinks

We had an evening meal here while staying in Carrickferus and you couldn't ask for better views over the marina. The service started off very good and the meal was lovely but, whilst a second round of drinks were ordered and a reminder given, they never turned up but were on the bill. Staff quick to apologise and correct bill but they lost a star for this in my opinion.

Have to say the food is hit and miss at times. In general it is a great venue to take friends and family.

Lovely surroundings by the marina and good food for family outings. Just been renovated and the outlook is just so relaxing. Great on a sunny day to sit outside and watch the boats sail in and out of the harbour.

Last evening I had the pleasure of going along to this wonderful little restaurant for a hands on cookery class. From the minute I enquired about it to leaving with my not one, but two batches of cinnamon buns (sweet and savoury) it was superb service.Chef Joni made each and everyone welcome, lovely wine on the house and his teaching and helpfulness were second to none. My efforts would not compare to his but everyone was praised. He got a well deserved round of 👏 ! Next month is a pasta class and I have already my name down for it. I went this morning to buy some fresh bread from the bistro and both Joni and Erica were there welcoming folk. Service such as this is long hours of hard work and they rightly deserve any support they get. I whole heartedly recommend this Bistro to anyone.
