It has amazing food but one thing I was upset about was when I went they had no pizzas and burgers 😭

Emma and Ethan are always lovely and deliver fantastic service time after time always enjoy our time when they are behind the bar Tried the new sharer menu . We had cheddar & jalapeno donuts, crispy tempura prawns and potato tots. All tasted delicious. Good food. Good service and lovely friendly staff.

Been few times but food not so good as used to be. No winter roasted veg or sprouts broc cabbage very basic and could have been warmer

I love the malt shovel because I know I can take my dog in there and staff brings water and treats 🥰🥰🥰

The food is delicious, in fact it's faultless. My husband and I visit regularly for the Sunday roast dinner. The staff are friendly and helpful even when busy. I wish Mitchells & Butlers would refurbish the premises as it is in dire need of a refresh. Such a shame the company have ignored the interior. Other than that the Malt Shovel deserves 5 stars.

Tables were dirty, tired decor and the food was not good. Staff were helpful but I would not go there again! Overall disappointing!!

Always a friendly welcome from Eithan, Emma, and all staff. We are greeted by name and they know our drinks. That's what I call a local cosy pub.

Not the best to be fair, 30 minute's in the Q and 1 chef serving. The food was tasty and the staff are freindly and professional.

Food was terrible, we arrived at 3.30 yesterday The meat was nice gammon and turkey. The vegetables looked extremely dry and tasted awful. The carrots were watery the roast potatoes were hard, the mash had a dry skin over it. I would have preferred the server to have advised us to select other food from menu. Didn’t seem to be bothered with what they were serving. Won’t be eating there again, disappointed

Went with my family today for lunch, i cant say anything good about the whole experience. I have had some poor Carveries but this was the worst, choice of veg very poor the mash was packet dried mash and the gravy was like water and tasteless in-fact the whole meal was tasteless, my son and daughter-in-law had pizza and they could not eat it.

Came here yesterday for a birthday celebration, food was fantastic as always, carvery was hot and fresh. The lady behind the bar and the lady carving were so pleasant and friendly.

Had my first carvery here at the age of 18.Still the only place I go for a carvery at the age of 57 tells you everything.First class food and service with a smile.

The food is massively disappointing. I ordered the fish & chips & it lacked any kind of flavour. It tasted very much like it came out of the freezer, so a total waste of money. I've also had a carvery from here before & again lacked flavour & very basic. Staff are lovely though. Very polite & chatty & the place is clean & tidy.

Our waitresses today were Lisa, and she was a lovely lady and loved and was happy to serve us and always in a positive mood. The food was freshly made, and the atmosphere was perfect, no loud noise through this experience, and all in total was absolutely amazing for everything

Poor food just no flavour came in with 3 people and we all thought the same left the food never again

Delicious food, however, long queue at carvery counter and an extremely slow lady carving and serving the meat. Due to mobility issues, I was very uncomfortable standing, waiting for so long.

We only came in for a drink, it was busy, but the bar staff were really quick to engage with us. Ellie was so professional, great attitude and very welcoming.

Just had a sandwich for lunch. Turkey, stuffing with cranberry sauce with a roast potato side. Staff pleasant. Not too busy.

Ethan one of the bar staff- very friendly, approachable, goes above and beyond for us when we’re there. Always 5* service.

Barman was lovely, friendly and welcoming. Person serving the carvery had a seemingly 'couldn't care less' attitude, no pleasantries, just "Yorkshire?" "What Meats?" that's it just the bare bones. The food was okay in general apart from the roasters which were overcooked and kept heated for far too long. Only one lot of gravy which both the eating in customers and the take out customers were waiting around without any sort of order, we were left to our own devices to who got gravy first. The salt pot was blocked and very grubby. Knives and forks were clean as was the table. Perhaps needs a little make over and Gordon Ramsey to spread a little happiness.

Wonderful food and service. There was one lovely lady who took all our orders; she was so helpful and really does deserve some credit. Absolutely amazing service and quality. Definitely giving her a tip! She was wearing a white blouse with black hearts and green trousers. We came here of a family of five, not so hungry. She was so kind and knew the menu so well but we ended up having 5 Sunday roasts and desserts and a bottle of wine. Will definitely come back here again.

The only establishment for all types of meetings, the food is out of this world with an abundance of options for all, a must for families, couples and meetings... ps dogs welcome with open arms... in the bar area

Need to spread the tables out better, can't sit down with chairs pushed against you from the tables adjacent. There is room for them to be spaced apart more, This needs to be addressed as its quite simple to, to be honest. me and my companions are pensioners, so its quite frustrating.

the malt shovel staff are very rude inc. one lady with the blonde hair that was really angry swearing and she was shouting loudly also abusivly to my mom who only complained about my food being done very poorly. and my mom was falsely accused of throwing a plate at the lady on duty but my mom did no such thing and the manager is a disgrace to his profession and sided with the horrible woman who was mean to us she was also giving us dirty looks and sciving on the job chatting to the elderly and we got no apoligies also want to meantion that the atmosphere there is appauling i will never ever go to this pub and etery again. it felt like a public WITCHHUNT.

We frequently come to the Malt Shovel with my Mum. It is always a pleasure to come here. Lisa and Josh are so welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble, even though it was quite busy. The carvery was delicious and the desserts hit the spot!

Ordered 2 carveries for delivery. I was very disappointed when it arrived. Roast potatoes burnt to a crisp and hard and tough. Stuffing burnt on top and look as though it was left overs from the day before, and dry overcooked Turkey. Absolutely appalling!!! There is no way this food was freshly done today. I even ordered it at 11.45am thinking great the food would be freshly done as they would have just finished serving breakfast. Disgusting!! I'm sorry I can't post a picture to prove my point.

Booked our daughters 9th Birthday pizza baking party at this venue. Wasn't sure how it was going to plan out as 1st time for everything, but as soon as we walked in, we was greeted by Lisa and she quickly put us as ease and took over the event. Everything went to plan and the kids had a lovely time creating their own fresh pizzas with all there favourite toppings. Lisa was very calm and helpful all along the way. Definitely recommend this event for anyone thinking about doing something different. Many thanks Malt Shovel and especially Lisa.

Went here with my family for father's day lunch. our time slot was 12 noon. I am disabled, walk with sticks and find standing and distances to walk painful Had to walk from table back into bar to order and pay and then walk back to table was unexpected. maybe a till to pay in dinning room would be handy. we then queued up for carvary which then didn't start serving until 12.20. too long without apologises.

Returned on Sunday to have carvery lunch with family. Food was nice and hot and if good standard. We were again served by the delightful young woman Laura. She remembered our family from our last visit and was very friendly and effecient. Laura is an asset to this family restaurant. We hope to return again soon

We booked a table but there was no need place totally empty but the food was nice to be fair

Came for a carvery tonight with my family went to get a high chair and noticed it was dirty ask the girl Emma got her name for her assistant to wipe it down she said I get a waitress after ten minutes no one came why couldn't she just get a cloth and spray and come and do it no she rather tell someone else who did not come cus the poor girl was on her own so I went to change the high chair I was really angry cus to me that was pure lazyness if she gave me the cloth I would of done it myself

## WARNING ⚠️##### The landlord of this Pub has a drinking problem and should not be in charge of a pub, he screamed in my 8yo daughters face on Sat( it must be noted that he was intoxicated and out of control), just before he come comes on here and spins a web of lies to worm out of it, tell him to post the CCTV footage of sat 25th May😉 we give him the right to, 👏 you will see him storm outside were our teenage girls were supervising our younger kids, he stormed outside and screamed in the 8yos face, he verbally abused our 8yo and traumatised her, don't let him spin an explanation of why he did, the mire fact he did should warn you away from this person, On a side note the carvery was rubbish!

The food left a lot to be desired 1.starters decided to tell us they didn’t have the starter until we where eating main 2.no potatoes they then brought out rock hard uncooked roasted potatoes So my husband had no lunch only meat and a few veg 3 brought the wrong pudding

We were a party of 80 adults and children, From a dance school, heading for a competition, All was well until some of the kids were making to much noise, the manager was very harsh with them, ended shouting in the face of one of the small children making her cry, When one of the parents asked why and for his name, he refused and told us to leave great seeing as we had already eaten and paid for our meals already, great service 🤨🤨

I haven't been there for 5 years now and I went out for a lunch and tea some of the days and nights if the weather is good. I have really enjoyed myself very much for lovely pub.

Boiled frozen food in a bag full of chemicals and preservatives and additives not ...No nutrition cooking involved in any shape or form ! Teriifed bulled staff ...why am I not surprised about the kitchen and the horrifying story's about the kitchen manager!... frankly this place needs to be reported ! ... The main well fed manager his shirts are stained and yellow and stinks of Cigarettes ..... big lady manager shouts at her kitchen staff ...£ 10 an hour no breaks.... after an accident they said i was not good enough and no longer requierd to work ! made up a story about undated sausagesfrom night before from the freezer ... big deal but i had wittnesed the kitchen head boil in the bag chef run in early doors into the malt and shovel in the fridge freezer finding things to find things to ecuse me off ..... You have been warned avoid at all times if you value your health because they certainly do not not give a dam if you work here .. foced to give one star they deserve non ! I have more pictures but you will throw up.... ..Please do not stalk me on line when I write the truth ! you are warned! ... I know what type of human can be so disgruntled about the truth .... please do not harrase the poor workers they ate treated like slaves i have spoken reached about myvburn on my arm ! with no after care at all ..i was not wearing her chefs outfit on the day because the managers could not be botherd to wash the protective clothing ! If you want to be served by people who lick their hands then touch your food this is the place to be Feb 2024 • Family Went for a family lunch after laying our nans ashes. Found a table to seat the 7 of us. Decided to go for the starter selection 5 for £15. Thought great price for a few little picky bits rather than a full carvery. The others went for the 3 course for £13 deal, again amazing price! Wish we hadn’t of bothered tbh. Our ‘picky bits’ came. The garlic bread was completely burnt & had no cheese on although we had ordered with cheese. So sent that back. Then our chicken pieces, nachos, cheese fries & mushrooms came. How on earth pre cooked fried foods can be cooked wrong baffles me!! Some of the chicken/cheese fries/mushrooms were semi warm, others stone cold. The manager must of had the hot ones in her gob as she came over to the table with a mouth full of food (sick face). Obv sent these back, the manager looked at us confused when we complained as they were clearly edible to her. The replacement food came, i mean it was just as terrible. The nachos had been stuck in the microwave & were soggy (who on earth eats soggy dorritos please) The rest of the table were sat waiting for 2 pizzas & 2 burgers for 50 minutes. The place had 2 tables occupied with 2 elderly people on each one. So why such a long wait? Oh & then the pizzas came & were burnt!! I mean the deal breaker for me was the child making the pizzas licking sauce off his hand & then proceeding to touch the food. Oh and kept the lid of the pizza dough on the grimey floor (hand over face) This place used to be ok, i wouldnt let my dog eat there let alone a human. Needless to say we requested a refund on the whole bill for 7 people. NEVER AGAIN

Ordered a fajita chicken burger. It was a okay burger nothing fancy. Chips seemed a little under cooked. The main issue was a 50 minute wait for the order. Desert was a profiteroles with salted caramel sauce. Cheap nasty chocolate. Spray cream our of a can and drizzled in salted caramel sauce. Not worth the money spent. Not sure I would eat there again

The meat was delicious, had roast beef, gammon and turkey. Stuffing yummy and all sorts of vegetables very good.

Pop in afterwork thurshday for a nice refreshing madri, was served by liam. Great pints and atmosphere.

Went yesterday for lunch (Sunday)I was not happy the portion of meat was very poor and the veg was cheap stuff plus Yorkshire pudding were not home made and small like I'd buy from Iceland will not be using again very disappointed as it used to be good

The place looked nice enough and was warm. The food was nice and tasty. The only thing that ruined it was my order got missed up and didn't come until after my friends had finished and I'd asked about. Our server Alicia was lovely and helpful.

Wasn't much variety on the carvery station as in vegetables and mash as it tasted like packet mash and I prefer homemade mash stuffing had no flavour green beans and cauliflower cheese were hard carrots tasted funny and gravy was very watery I prefer a different selection of gravys. Ice for the children didn't even look ice cream it was yellow. And not white like it use to be in this place.

Had a lovely breakfast here, a treat from my son. A very friendly, well run management,we got welcomed as we walked through the door. We will be returning Thank you
