The Kenilworth in Stockport

I would give this establishment a one star review however this is unfair on the kind and welcoming staff and pub patrons to help keep the Kenilworth are warm and bubbly environment. However are very rude and rather strange owner/manager really brings this place down for quite petty reasons that should be standard for a place that was originally created for a public house When me and my friends came to this pub we could’ve gone to town or any other place in the local area however we chose this pub as my girlfriend‘s family are regular goers and I know quite a few of the people that go to drink here so it is always a laugh when I turn up Before going to buy some food from the local takeaway me and my friends had spent 30+ pound on drinks each we went to a takeaway to refuel and I got my girlfriend some food as alcohol especially vodka affects her in the way that makes her throw up pass out and eating helps avoid this, we went back in after for a lot more drinks too When we sat down A pub Patreon told us that we could go get some knives and forks from a basket inside and we asked if it was alright and he said yes we got the knives and forks I had my food whilst waiting for my girlfriend The pub owner/manager came over and snatched the knives and forks from the table which was outside out of the way and made quite rude remarks to us. As I am using the Cutlery I do not mind cleaning it. I was also not very aware that the pub was serving food at that time which was another reason why I went to a takeaway For me this isn’t the first time this owner has been unreasonably rude to me about a year ago I went into the pub asking for a Fanta which he’s straight up refused to serve me as he didn’t know me which is quite offputting for anyone who is new to the area I wants to try out a new pub. As I said before my girlfriends family come here daily I had to get a friend to go in the pub for me to get me a soft drink not an alcoholic one I don’t know if the owner has any personal or past problems that has turned into such a grouch but I don’t see the need and being so rude to people that are literally trying to support his business but keep his promises clean as when I arrived to the table next to the darts there was litter. Bags of open peanuts all over the floor which I had to clean up and throw into the male bathroom whilst having a nut allergy myself I am still going to support and go to this pub as I like the people and the other staff members here who try their best to keep it a good environment if the owner has any problem of this review I have published today please come speak to me about it in person I would be willing and happy to have a chat about it

i held my Birthday party there last year in July it was a great night food was good. beer was spot on and bar service very good thanks to the management and staff.

Well when your once an hour bus doesn't come for two hours you need plan B. Walk home and empty your bladder in every pit stop....only fly in this ointment is filling up with a pint! Large Greene King pub. Two real ales on this pit (pee) stop. Good pub. Shaslic likes it. Good pint from their range. Good outdoor space⁹ oddly empty on a November evening.

Was at my great granddaughter's 1st birthday party. Everything was great. Only the second time we have been there, as we come from Leeds. Both times have been good with no complaint.

Nearly broke my kneck and went flying by 2 metal posts on the floor near the darts area,won't let me upload picture.

I call in every now and again for a couple of pints. Always a good atmosphere and friendly banter. Lovely professional bar staff and John ain't bad either.

Had our granddaughter's christening today at The Kenilworth, absolutely perfect throughout. The buffet was brilliant value for money. Staff very friendly and professional.

lovely place, great range of beers and cider, nice and clean. the food is so good, great big portions and great value. The landlord is friendly and interested that you are happy with the food, Lots of big screens and when the football is on a great atmosphere. I always look forward to visiting the Kenilworth, the barmaids are lovely too. Well done, I`ll be back soon.

Absolutely brilliant, I ordered s pocket pincher. Korean, chicken and chips absolutely amazing. I loved it and for a pocket pincher. It was really big will be going back again soon.

Popped in on my way back from work pre Xmas …. Looking for a simple bite to eat and John the landlord suggested his chicken on the bone curry, wow!!!! Was I pleasantly surprised it completely hit the spot and was tender, flavoursome with a little kick in the spice dept! He charged me £4.00 I challenge you to find a better deal in Stockport. This could be a regular nip in for me on the way home now!!

Attended a charity afternoon tea event here, last visit about 10yrs ago. Really impressed with the premises & the facilities. The licensee & team put on a top notch buffet and were a pleasure to meet & deal with and all enjoyed the experience. Fully recommended on the strength of this visit and we will be back next month. 👍

Easy to park, easy accessable premises, great array of drinks, friendly staff, good atmosphere, LOL THE LAND LORD CARRIES A BASE BALL BAT BEHIND THE BAR WHICH HAS BEEN MENTIONED IN PREVIOUS REVIEWS, NAUGHTY BOY,he does look like Danny divito though and may feel he needs it, the land lord also flirts badly with any young girl or girls in the pub if only he knew there not interested he might leave them alone.

We visited the Kenilworth on Sunday afternoon. It had many people in at the time but not what I would call busy at lunch time. The place looks nice, staff are friendly. However the quality of their food was poor to medium. Not really good enough to return for a meal. But we will call in for a quick drink when in the area.

I would like to thank the management and staff for providing a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone watching the football over the past few weeks. The staff did an amazing job keeping up with all the drink orders, and the management did an brilliant job in trying to accommodate everyone. The atmosphere was brilliant throughout. Honestly I'm quite disappointed with this pub here, me and my friends who are all around 19 years old, all of us are old enough to drink, come to this pub on occasion but it's never a nice experience for example we sat down today, I ordered a drink and so did one other of my friends and we sat around for a bit just chatting while the others decided what they wanted and a man I assumes who works here or is the manager comes up and tells my friend to put away his water bottle and asks if we are going to get a drink, and implying he might kick us out. I understand that no one wants a group of teenagers just loitering around but this was just so rude we weren't making any fuss and it was just not a pleasant experience. I have noticed that the staff are always more impolite to me and my group of friends whenever we are in the pub, and we've never given them a reason to be. I have tried the food here and honestly it's just average at best. Considering the average food and some of the staff being rude, I would not recommend this pub at all.

Steak not cooked full gristle left it on plate cant say thus is a good place to cone eat and it was my fathers day meal from my kids who paid for it

Food was great, not too much choice to make a tough decision. Staff were on the ball with little or no waiting at the bar. Even though it was busy there was not much waiting time for food either. I've come home stuffed!!!

Spacious, modern with large screen tvs showing sport. Not tried food yet but looks fine.

Great friendly pub. Hired out the function room for a party and it was a great. Staff were very friendly and willing to help with any issues. The owners allowed us access all day to dress the room. Great room and on our doorstep which was a massive advantage. Thank you Annette and John.

Came here to watch the football and have a few drinks. The atmosphere was pretty chilled and there were plenty of screens to show the game. The drinks prices were good and there was a fairly decent selection needs to choose from. Only down side was that there didn't seem to be a huge amount of seating. Seemed like a family friendly pub and there were kids and pet dogs involved.

Pleasant enough place to be in. The pub is very big and has a large number of TVs making me think it's quite a big sports pub for watching football or rugby or any other major sporting event. The place is quite expensive to drink in and eat however the food was quite nice. Staff ok but didn't seem to go the extra mile. The place is ok for a one-off but in my opinion there are better places to go if you want to travel a bit further away from where the Kenilworth is

Went to this pub for a pint with a few mates after the match as soon as me and a few friends walked in it was a very hostile atmosphere there were 3 young girls on the bar and also a younger a sister of one of the bar servers who was roughly about 10 years old behind the bar considering it was nearly 11pm seemed a little inappropriate we were treated without great service and to the smerks and laughs of these young girls very unprofessional talked to all of us with attitude and not paying customers eventually my friend made a comment to myself and send the staff seem like c**** to wich one of the bar staff overheard and from there they started to argue and get aggressive towards us and then the landlord very miserable man got involved and asked the girl behind the bar to get his baseball bat and proceeded to follow us out side with the girls and threatened us I thought this was a popular and upmarket pub but if you ever go to this pub through the week you will realise it's very unprofessional and run by young girls and bullies I would never step foot in this pub again it is not what I thought it was and would highly recommend avoiding this pub through the week
