The Front in Neath Port Talbot

I booked us a table for our 6th wedding anniversary and wasn't disappointed.

Nice to have table service and the veggie breakfast was a really tasty one. Lovely and warm in there on a cold December day. Both waiting staff were friendly and efficient too.

Don’t go this place at all very rude customer service and lack of professionalism don’t know how to do their job at all just waste of money

Food was lovely prepared but a little cold on arrival.

Three of us arrived just before 11.10 on Sunday to get breakfast. There were tables available and we hadn't booked because the booking system doesn't allow before 12. We were told they were full and breakfast ends at 11.30. We were welcome to sit and have coffee at their available tables (when they were "obviously full"). When we enquired about how we would book they said we could have called the restaurant and booked and that this was explained on the website. Firstly, I can't find this instruction anywhere on the website. Second, why have two methods of booking for different times of day? With 20 minutes to spare for breakfast and tables available for coffee we're too late? Made no sense and it was our fault for not phoning. We went to Franco's who seated us at 11.25 with five minutes left to order breakfast, no problems.

What a disappointment myself and my husband wanted food at 11.45am. Only to be told that they would not be serving food for another half an hour. The young man who was front of house could have informed us of this as I picked up the menu as I walked in. We was seated by the young man but I don’t think he had much interest in helping us I felt like a bit of an inconvenience. When we waited to be served my husband noticed a lot of people coming in and just leaving must have been at least half a dozen people wanting to eat at this restaurant. What a stupid policy shutting the kitchen down for 30mins never heard of anything so stupid what a decision someone has made. You are losing a lot of money 💰

Food was awful, belly pork bites were like leather, peppercorn pasta was undercooked, cow pie was big enough to feed a family of four but tasteless, seasoned fries we’re discussing. Service was very poor as the staff didn’t appear interested. A complete waste of money and really expensive for poor quality food. Very disappointed, will Not be going again!!!!

Although I only had fish & chips the food was excellent, NThe side dish, mushrooms in cheesy sauce was amazing, And a few different cocktails to wash it all down, Would definitely recommend, And look forward to visiting again,

Visited the Front in Aberavon for a little bit of food on the off chance as I have been here a few times before and it was pleasant. The views are great and its well positioned. Food was great, well cooked and very tasty but that's where it ended, sadly. The restaurant was loaded with young staff, but didn't seem bothered to serve you and preferd to instead hang about in groups and chat. In the end I ordered food and drink at the bar. I found the Front a disappointing experience from the last time I was here and it will be a good time before I try it again.

Great service, had a breakfast, £10.95, reasonable price for 2 of everything. Very echoey for my liking, but that could just be my over sensitive hearing / tinnitus 👍

Got there fairly late in the evening so the staff were probably tired but they were great. The food was amazing, I’d heard some less than favourable things about The Front but going on my experience they’re all wrong. A girl called Ava (I asked her name!) served us and she was amazing. It was busy but she made sure to take the time to look after us. Loved the food and Ava was super friendly. Definitely returning soon!

Not great and the staff are the rudest I've ever encountered, took ages to be acknowledged, walked out in the end, stay well clear.

Horrible service. 2 tables in the entire restaurant, staff talking and walking around. Waited 15min before leaving. No one came and took our drink order. Absolutely ridiculous! Staff standing around talking. Like I'm here to pay you and you don't want to take my money. Horrible. I thought I'd give this place a try, and it turns out there is a reason I've never been in. You hire incompetent people. Your staff is terrible for the amount of money I would've paid for a meal for 4. Terrible. Will never return and tell anyone who asks about this place never to go.

Thought to try food from here as I’ve heard great reviews. Not entirely sure where the great reviews came from. Feels like the restaurant focus more on quantity instead of quality.

Our first time here today on a rather weather beaten Aberavon front. Plenty of on site parking for this venue. We were greeted immediately by the restaurant manager and shown to our reserved table. We had to wait around 30 mins before being offered drinks by the waitress but that was the only delay with the service. The food was of excellent quality and portion sizes were large. The boneless chicken was fabulous!!! Attention to detail on the presentation was excellent. They clearly have very well trained and talented chefs on site. The restaurant is really well appointed, with a very strong American vibe, which we like. Staff were excellent and very pleasant. All in all a great place to head for food if you are in the area.

NEVER RECEIVED ORDER. Absolutely shocking. Needed code to deliver apparently but no one else would have the code ! Embarrassing!!!

Popped in to meet my business consultant over coffee. Lovely place to sit and chat and enjoy a Latte. We didn't have food but I'm sure it's top notch. Very lovely place.

This place is incredible for food. Weird service from staff, not smiling, long waits between interactions, they seem to walk around in friendship groups, asked if we wanted the bill before we had seen the dessert menu. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting, after an hour drive a bathroom break was needed before ordering, as I walked into the corridor I could see a used nappy on the floor of the disabled toilets, the women’s, had a broken toilet seat, a broke hand dryer, on overflowing bin of blue roll with none left to dry hands, and a 3/4 full sink of dirty water that was not draining. Thank god the chef can cook!

Had a lovely meal here, lovely views, vegetarian options.

Great bang for your buck. Hearty American style sizes. I reccomend the Hopper burger - the Sauerkraut adds such a great flavour experience! Likely will need to book especially on the weekend.

First time trying The Front. Food was great, tasty, well seasoned, and huge portions. Will definitely order from there again and would definitely recommend!

Food was horrible had boneless chicken box, I know it’s fried but shouldn’t be able to squeeze the chicken and fat drain from it, gave 1 star as the chips were ok but cold. I complained when I asked for the bill heard no more about my complaint just given the bill. The atmosphere wasn’t the restaurants fault as I had a woman laughing (fake) really really loud but if this was at my restaurant I would of as the lady to keep the noise down as have other customers, I know your properly thinking I’m just moaning but this person laughed from when I got in to just before I left and I’m afraid nothing is that funny.

I’ve been to The Front several times, but last night’s experience was beyond belief. We booked a table and, though running a bit late, I called ahead to inform them. Upon arrival, we were met with a noticeable attitude from the staff, including one member audibly huffing at us. It took 20 minutes just to get anyone’s attention for drinks, and even longer to place our food order. The drinks arrived incorrectly, but to their credit, that was corrected quickly. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing – cold and mediocre. We were hungry, so we ate the food despite this. What was truly shocking was being presented with the bill after just one mouthful of food! I mentioned that we were still eating and would settle the bill once we finished. Despite that, another staff member interrupted us during the main course to ask if we wanted dessert – we hadn’t even finished eating! Then, as soon as the last forkful was taken, the bill was handed over again. It was not late, the restaurant wasn’t closing, as a few tables were still being served, and many others were left uncleared I raised the issue, expressing that we were made to feel very unwelcome, but there was little concern from the staff. Overall, this was the worst customer service I have ever experienced!!!!

Excellent service and even more delicious food .great value for money and be warned portions are gigantic.which in this day and age a much needed change .Food was tasty and moorish .hope to see you all again on our next adventure.

Food was great quality. Portion size was huge - felt bigger than being in the restaurant! A huge benefit to eat this quality of food at home given I’m recovering from surgery. Food was ordered early in the day for a 730 delivery but sadly didn’t leave the restaurant until 7:40pm so later than expected to arrive but worth the wait.

I ordered from the front yesterday and paid for delivery only for the delivery time to keep getting put back and back for over an hour and had to go pick it up myself, paid the delivery fee and you didn't deliver! absolutely disgusting!

Came here for the first time as I was only visiting family. Had some great food probably the best pasta I have ever had. The service was excellent. If am ever back this will be the place I will come.

Absolutely great place, waiters so tentative and sharp on their jobs. Great place would love to go there more often, though 498 m round trip bit harsh. Ribs are fab..

Great seaside place that serve some good fried chicken and burger. Please be aware!!!!!! - the Diablo fried are super spicy 🌶️ and yes the waitress has warned us but ever the less try it anyway 🤔 you have been warned! Waiting time was about half hour and they’re not dog friendly after 5pm inside on the weekday but dog are welcome anytime for the outside bit. The food was delicious, and the service amazing. From the moment my dog and I were greeted at the door, our waitress - Daniella was so hospitable. We were seated immediately and Daniella was kind enough to bring water for my dog, she also asked if we would like the air conditioning turned on (it was quite hot). It was so lovely to visit a dog friendly restaurant and receive such exceptional service. I will definitely be dining there again 😃

Great food , nice people and dog friendly, should be more places like this everywhere would be great to see one in Birmingham.

We had dinner here and were left without drinks until after the starters arrived, then without fresh cutlery when the mains came. We then sat with our dirty plates and I had to go and ask for the bill. Food was ok but service terrible.

Yummy quality food and excellent friendly and quick service. The best choice for dinner/lunch in the area. Booking in advance is a must.

Burger slightly dry but lots of sauce to cover it and tricky with smashed burgers. Belly pork was nice.

First time here today, staff were lovely and you don't wait ages for food even though it was busy. Pets are allowed in the restaurant, could hear one or two barking but not excessively. Food was lovely, would go back again. Toilets were nicely decorated although one sink is not enough in my opinion but nevertheless they were clean.

Nice place with friendly staff. Good service. Burgers were very tasty! Best Welsh burger I've eaten. Chips were decent. Ice cream sundae was tasty. Would recommend going here!

Great food and friendly service, burgers were so tasty. Plenty of vegetarian options and also love the takeaway bar window outside.

Good quality food, good service, good location.

We made a group booking, and the experience was quite mixed. Service was very brusque- we got told off for swapping a couple of our chairs with those from unoccupied tables, because they would no longer match(?!), and throughout our meal staff seemed more interested chatting to each other over guest experience. There was a 20 min gap between our first and last desserts arriving. When we asked about the delay the response was "it's no problem". Sorry, but yes it is a problem! All in all they just didn't feel very customer focused. The portions are generous and the food was delicious. However the two people that had the pit master ended up very, very unwell for the next 24 hours. There's not a lot else in the local area that offers similar, but I don't think we would return.

Has the beef dipped tacos... utterly stunning, our table also tried the jambalaya, a burger and the rib, nothing but smiles and happy people, highly recommend.

We have visited the Front several times before tonight and had lovely meals. The waitress was lovely and couldn't do enough to help, however the food was disappointing. The starter, which we have had before said calamari chunks and was clearly not chunks. The Bunny salad bowl should have had sesame seeds, mixed leaves and grains but none of this was present. When the manager was questioned he was abrupt and made my mother feel quite stupid when she said it wasn't like what she had before. He walked away dismisive and it wasnt until we proved it wasn't what we ordered by showing the menu, which clearly showed ingredients missing. Basically it was an iceburg lettuce with tomatoes and dried out Cucumber ribbons. We did have the meals taken off the bill eventually but still feel very disappointed and sadly won't visit again.

Great food as always, ate early this time, booked at approx 3.30pm. Service was lacking. We were shown to our seat but sat for ages waiting for someone to take an order, despite what appeared to be plenty of staff. Eaten here a number of times and this is the first time this has occurred.

Wow, I hope they were having an off day, as service was bad, really bad. Slow and totally unresponsive, which got progressively worse. Staff were far too busy chatting amongst themselves to worry about paying customers. At the end, we just gave up on them clearing our table and bringing the desert menus we asked for. Finally, the bill was completely wrong.

First time to go here will not go back just about to be seated by the waiter when the waitress said “oh I don’t think we can fit you in there was only two of us about 8 tables occupied and all the rest empty laughable her attitude wasn’t the best the most bizarre experience we at first thought she must be joking carry on like this The Front and you will lose alot of custom we certainly won’t be going back.

Brilliant food, generous portions and overall nice experience from being on aberavon seafront. Dessert prices a little steep for what they are is my only criticism.

Fantastic first visit. My friend and I had the BFC boneless tin and it was delicious. The team were friendly and attentive. Can wait to visit again. Had no idea the Front was also drive through and dog friendly...I'll definitely make more effort to visit.

Absolutely terrible place my boyfriend and a few of his friends went there, the food was awful and the service was just as bad, also he was very sick this morning from only eating a small amount of the awful food, he refused to pay was so bad. Would never ever recommend anyone to go here

The Steelworker was really poor value for money. A baguette with a bit of cooked packet meat you’d pick up in a supermarket. £12? C’mon. You’re having a laugh!

Arrived at 8:50 and told kicked had closed. Ordered drinks. Music was switched off at 09:25. 09:30 asked to leave as they wanted to cash up. Manger was very rude, and we were told that they close, if not busy. Not interested in reputation or busyness.

Everytime we have delivery/pick up always missing coleslaw, had to go back again to get it after asking and getting told it was in there, just a polite note for staff to make sure the order is there in full when doing delivery/pick up orders, quality on point though as usual

Absolutely love this place. Stumbled on it earlier this year have returned a few times never disappointed always good food good atmosphere

A nice little Eateree with a nice atmosphere.

Food and service was good. Unfortunately the lady at the front desk was very hostile and didn't seem to have any warmth towards the customers.We also felt rushed. After we'd eaten she asked us to move to another table,again her manner was hostile and lacking warmth of any kind . I went on three occasions back in May once with my partner and twice with a girlfriend and it was the same woman who showed us to our table,I wondered why why she was given the job in the first place.

Food was ok. Nothing special. Quite a good choice. Staff are quite odd and awkward. Took ages for them to take out order. We had to ask. Don't serve tapped beer and only diet fizzy drinks at full price. There was a creepy guy with a mullet behind the bar trying his best to grow a moustache and be ready and cool with an awful attitude. What a clown. The coffee was like piss. We sent it back. It's ok to visit once. Didn't feel ripped off with what we got and paid. Prices are quite reasonable and the food is fine.

Tried a few dishes. Starters: 1) calamari= very good 2) pork belly= okay/chewy Main= 1) Ramen= quite bad and odd/ not proper ramen. Served in a plate with egg noodles. Components cooked well. Liked the crispy garlic slices. Broth was not nice, too bitter for my palette and ruined dish unfortunately. Additional veg gyozas were okay/good 2) beef ribs= good, apparently lil sickly if have the whole lot- but good 3) beef tacos= good Service: lovely and well versed. Just a star off as had to wait a long time for main. However, this may be because we ordered ribs. Nice interior, lovely views, clean.

Great place to visit by the sea, the food is very good, they even do gluten-free burgers which was great. We went as a group of 8 people, and the service and staff are very friendly and professional. Free parking outside. It will be a great place to visit in the summer.

Got tired waiting for someone to take an order (could see others waiting to order and to pay), so went and got a takeaway from Franco's instead.

Went with my wife and another couple for lunch. Booked a table in advance and didn't wait long for table to be ready. Food was great and loads of it which made paying a bit extra worth it. Staff were pleasant and the service was great.

Love The Front book a table because it's always packed.Great helpful staff, Great service ,Great menu and they have a vegan menu to 😀. Good location they have their own parking but have the local parking right next to it pay machines.The front also has a drive through which is a plus .Highly recommended.

Worth the drive if you're from Swansea, owner is down to earth and welcoming. Food is amazing and there's ample parking and menu options.

Lets just say, if you want good food that will fill your tummy, then wow this place is great, me, my hubby and daughter had beef tacos with chips, OMG amazing and I do have high standards. ( Food Delicious). Cant wait to dine here again when back visiting.
