The elephant crossing in Telford and Wrekin

It's so hard to find somewhere nice to drink in Ironbridge. We gave the Elephant Crossing a third try despite being so disappointed on previous visits. A simple order of red wine and a pint should be straightforward enough - not so. We were overcharged for the wine, which isn't a problem on itself but the way the error was handled was very poor. The member of staff who served us couldn't rectify the problem and the colleague who came to help was just shy of rude. It felt as though we were at fault for pointing out the error! On top of this, the wine we received tasted old and stale - you can guess why we didn't mention it! I long for the days when this was a place that served great food, good drinks and had a team that cared. They're long gone I'm afraid.

Simply Fabulous. It was such a wonderful meal on boxing day. Fabulous food and wonderful cocktails, but the icing on the cake was the wonderful service from start to finish. Our hostess was fantastic and an absolute asset to the business.

Restaurant serves pretty good food. Tacos freshly prepared and the Rib-eye perfectly cooked. Restaurant was full (good ) but under staffed (bad) with one waitress covering the downstairs tables. Ok it is not a big restaurant with around 10 tables, but they were struggling to attend and serve food promptly. We were ok, but two tables complained and one left without food. So just be aware on busy nights you may have to wait a while, unless they were temporary short staffed? Anyhow, good food and drinks competitively priced (carafe of cocktail £16). Worth a visit if you are in Ironbridge.

The food was quite good, but not the best Mexican me or the rest of my party have had, the general consensus was around a 6-7/10, however definitely worth the money, at £170 all in (soft drinks not alcohol) for a party of 6 adults and 3 children, thought it was excellent value, especially with 2 of our party having steak dishes, I have paid a lot more for worse. Left at that, and this would have been a good restaurant/night, but the service is what absolutely stole the show for me, this had to be some of the best, if not THE BEST service I have ever experienced, and I have been to A LOT of restaurants/eateries, all over the country and abroad. Our server/restaurant host's name was Darrell, and I believe if he could have moved the moon for us, he would have, any request was swiftly accepted and done, his general vibe/banter with the group was unparalleled, attention to detail, the extra bits that he didn't need to do (offering and getting board games for the kids AND PLAYING WITH THEM) giving details about the dishes and recommendations without us asking but sounded like he meant it and was very passionate about his service/knowledge not just because it's his job! Granted it was a Tuesday night and we were the only party in the restaurant, HOWEVER it was the first Tuesday they were open with the new opening times (so could have been a bit difficult for them) and I have been in plenty of restaurants where it's not particularly busy and the service is terrible! It costs absolutely nothing to do what he did and he is a testament to the owner/restaurant! Not so long ago I was in a popular UK burger restaurant and there were 3 staff just standing around when our order hadn't been taken for at least 15 minutes, this was the complete polar opposite, and what would have been a 6-7/10 for the food alone has been elevated in all of our opinions to a 9.8 (I'm a firm believer of not giving 10's as you may always find something better, which I highly doubt I will ever see service like this again). You could have the best food in the world but if the service isn't there, people won't bother! So a MASSIVE thank you to Darrell and the restaurant for my sisters 40th being a great night and I will definitely be visiting again!

We would definitely recommend the Elephant crossing, the food is amazing, cocktails are fabulous and to top it off the staff couldn’t be anymore welcoming and friendly one of my favourite places to go down Ironbridge 😁

We ate here this week, it was a great little find. Great menu, great cocktails, accommodating and polite staff. Food was great however homemade guacamole and salsa would have made the food better. Hope to visit again soon

Staff much too interested in chatting with their friends at the bar than serving paying customers. What appeared to be the chef came out after the kitchen closed & sat at the bar drinking unpaid for shots whilst blasting out video footage of a music festival he’d attended. Not the ambience you would hope for whilst dining. The food was enjoyable but staff were inattentive & untrained. Would be extremely surprised if restaurant still in business this time next year.

Repeat visit and a disappointing one. Staff a lot more interested in talking amongst themselves than any customer focus and the food was over-cooked and poorly presented - all arrived at once (starters & main). some decent menu options but just not a good dining experience. Was reasonably inexpensive though. First visit was a lot better so hopefully somebody can rescue this place.

We came here a table of 7 for my wife’s birthday. Prior to booking we looked at the menu and online photos and liked the look of it. We were not disappointed; the venu looks like a cafe when you first enter but after a walk to the courtyard you are transported. We felt like we were abroad, beautiful setting! None of us knew exactly what we wanted so we were invited to allow for the restaurant to choose for us- this was great. We gave a price of £25 per person. We had a TABLE full of the most delicious food. The choice was plentiful and we all enjoyed every mouthful. It was so refreshing to have a meal this way and I wish other venues would feel as confident in their menu to do this. We felt like VIP’s. The steaks were cooked perfectly and each dish tasted incredible. Staff were friendly and welcoming. We are so glad we chose The Elephant Crossing to celebrate. We will definitely return

Lovely venue with a great terrace out the back for drinks. However walk ins were prioritised over actual bookings….not enough staff to look after you. Food was tasteless for a Mexican…..had much better elsewhere. Was very disappointed. Cocktails were lovely but overpriced. Won’t be returning…

Been for evening with my husband, staff were very friendly but food was disappointing to be honest , the chicken was very dry and chips were also tasteless. Will not return only if it was for drinks only .

This place is a little diamond, over heard some mother at kids school talking about this place in iron bridge. We have lived in Telford 16 years never heard about it. So me and the wife decided to try it out. To look at front it looks like a shop, spoke with chef and staff. Very pleasant and accommodating. Food is out of this world, so many things to choose from. Enjoyed it that much cannot wait to go back. Truly beautiful food.

What an absolute amazing find…. Booked a table (online) for “date night” with a friend and we werent disappointed. As the weather was good we sat outside. Food was so so tasty, we can’t wait to go back

Visited here for the first time on Friday evening and it was amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful and even gave me a sombrero and maracas for my birthday! They of course were worn and used for the duration of our visit. The nachos were amazing and the steak sharer was out of this world! Make sure to ask for a doggy bag as the portions are huge. Would definitely recommend and will absolutely travel the 50+ miles just to visit here again.

A lovely restaurant, small and intimate, The food was excellent, very varied and so tasty. We had the tacos with all the different toppings, delicious. The service was good too.

We enjoyed a lovely meal here in November. The food we had was really delicious, amazing flavour's and good portions. Service was 10/10. Would recommend and visit again.

Unpretentious, great food in a great setting. Prices more than reasonable but above all this our server was professional yet fun, helpful yet unobtrusive and her service helped make what was an enjoyable family meal out even better. Thank you so much! We will be back!

Visited twice during a few days in ironbridge. Sat downstairs, great view over the river. Lovely waitress, didn't catch her name, very knowledgeable about the drinks and offered to make ones if we fancied any not on their menu. We also had some tacos and tortilla chips. Lovely food. Lovely drinks. A lovely place to drink and eat in ironbridge.

Arrived at 3ishpm for a drink, was quickly met by a lovely member of staff who ushered us downstairs. Comfy seats and were the only ones in there, good music and ambiance. Lovely waitress talked us through the cocktails and which ones to be careful when drinking (some have fire, dry ice etc) ordered a passion fruit mai tai and a tequila sunrise. Really nice. Then had a pink lady and Smokey old fashioned, not as nice but that’s purely personal taste. Also ordered chips and dip and 2 chicken tinga tacos, really lovely. We did ask for some sauce for the tacos though which were charged at £2 a pot. We left and came back in the evening, not the same lovely member of staff however service still good, only stayed for one cocktail.

Options off season in Ironbridge on a wet Monday are limited, so we were happy to eat in a Mexican style bar/ restaurant. It's a little decked out for halloween - not sure about the spooky lighting in the toilet 'tho. Few people in the establishment so we were downstairs close to the kitchen. Friendly staff. we had "Mexican Mussels" - which was a generous portion for two and very hot with chillies. I had a lemon deserts, which a you would expect came from the freezer, but at least they made the effort to dress it up a little. Overall a good cheap eats place with the massive advantage of actually being open in the evening on a Monday.

Absolutely appaling! We visited here over the weekend and it looked fantastic however, It certainly did not live up to our expectations. We entered the restaurant and headed down the stairs, a bizarre start as there was no one upstairs to greet the guests. When we arrived at the bar there was one, young, female server who was clearly under pressure. We asked for a menu and headed outside. We were given a lunch menu which was extremely limited, having looked at other tables and what they were dining on they were clearly eating off another menu. I went back to the bar to ask if there was another menu and the young lady apologised and provided me with one. We waited 15 minutes to order a drink, gave up and went to the bar to place our order, we were assured she would head to us quickly, this wasn't the case but this was by no means her fault. The restaurant's outdoor area was quickly filling up with 30+diners and the poor server was still by herself. We ordered a bottle of wine but received a gin glass, I requested a wine glass to be told they didn't have any, I could see several empty ones on tables that had not been cleared. I even took myself to the upstairs bar to see if there were any there, my partner and I both offered to help the young server but she politely declined but we felt awful for her. We placed our food order and began an extremely lengthy wait! We watched plenty of meals come out of the kitchen however, this was slowly. The food looked and smelt amazing so we decided to persevere and be patient even though we were getting very hungry. Fortunately another server turned up to help out so we were optimistic at this point! We had several plates arrive to our table that other diners had ordered, when ours came out it was sent to the wrong table, they returned it to the kitchen, it then came back to our table but it was incorrect so it was sent back, it was then returned and we were told we could 'just have it'. I checked the temperature of the tacos and they were cold, we were fairly upset by this point and decided we would be leaving immediately. We waited an hour and a half for the incorrect order which was cold! I have never walked out of a restaurant in my life, it was embarrassing but we'd had enough. I do not blame the servers at all, they were clearly inexperienced and put in an extremely difficult position. Whoever manages this restaurant should bow their head in shame for putting a young member of staff on a shift by herself on a warm Saturday! Unfortunately the second member of staff was unable to help as all the damage had been done at this point. They were scrambling to fix this and really tried their best but to no avail. An extremely disappointing visit and we will not return. This could have been a lucrative day had there been experienced and more staff on shift.

Went on a quiet Sunday night. Looks very small from outside, but down a flight of stairs is a much larger room, then outside for a wonderful outdoor dining area. Food was very very good, menu a little limited but everything we had was very tasty and well prepared. The waitress was wonderful, really chatty and friendly. Will definitely go back.

Turned up at 7pm on Saturday night with no booking and managed to be squeezed in . The menu has great variety and choose to order 5 dishes and all were extremely tasty. The bill was very reasonable and great value for money and really enjoyed the experience.

Visited as a family group for dinner one evening during our stay to Ironbridge. A great dinner - food was fabulous. Great selection for kids, carnivores and vegetarians. Cocktails were great and the service was very welcome. Really recommended

We have been to this restaurant a few times now. Whereas the food is good, it's not "tasty." A lack of seasoning and sauces can make the chicken dishes extremely bland. Also, the menu has stayed exactly the same since they first opened. Again, we feel that changes should be made or at least have a specials board. Tonight, however, our food was cold and unexciting. The service was extremely slow, so we were left rather disappointed. It's a shame that somewhere we have enjoyed in the past, let us down today. Having worked for many years in the catering industry, I do feel that there is certainly room for improvement.

Never knew this place had changed hands & complete change, went looking for some where to have a bite to eat in the evening & found The Elephant Crossing, Food was very different from everything else you get in Ironbridge, Everything we ordered was fantastic which was around 6 different dishes, nice place also indoor and outdoor dining available, bit limited on draft beer but plenty of bottle options to offset that, will be returning very soon :)

Just home from an evening here with my wife and the first time we’d been here. The service was excellent, the food was wonderful and the drinks were fabulous. One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time and all moderately priced. We will definitely return in the not too distant future and cannot recommend it highly enough for a great night out! Found this little gem on a recent visit to Ironbridge. Amazing Mexican food and the cocktails were divine. Its a shame some of the other local places don't take a leaf out of this book. Will definitely be back

Fabulous Mexican restaurant doing a cheeky twist on Sunday dinner. The ambiance is spot on. The staff can't do enough for you. Food is amazing, great value and plenty of it. Would absolutely recommend this place and will definitely be back
