Excellent pub. Was here on a 2 days course and had lunch here both days. Such good home made food. Lasagna was great and chicken Sunday roast was superb! Lots of healthy veg and big portion of chicken.

Had a lovely meal with good service.

I love this place. Food, staff,customers all great,drinks are a bit pricey but every thing else makes it worth it. Landlady Shirley excellent cook.

Bad value for money, quality of the food is equivalent to Iceland cooked meals. Weirdly not dog friendly for a country pub. Much better options in the area for food and drinks like the red lion just down the road.

The first time we've been to the Crown and sceptre for along time,and we were not disappointed the meal we dad was lovely, followed by an equally as good desert.

I loved visiting this little pub great selection of outside seating and lamb shank was on point, the whole family went and we had a really lovely service from the food to the staff!!! I highly highly recommend!!

Early evening meal in garden. Food unremarkable but fine. Min £10 card spend a little annoying.

Meals excellent as always and Shirley's homemade lemon meringue pie 🥧 is the best.

Lovely pub with lovely staff. The atmosphere is very homely and the food is home cooked, fresh and delicious. My friend loved having lunch and the left overs were packed for home, which was very thoughtful and lovely considering the present situation with living crisis cost. Desert was mouth-watering and considering it was freshly home made, it was served very quick. Certainly will return there. (The outside area is lovely.)

A very lovely couple run this pub and are always very welcoming and serve a very generous plate of homecooked food. Very popular around the local area everybody wants to be booked in for Sunday lunch. They also do a smaller portion for the older generation which is great service.

Shame no dogs allowed in a country pub. Came to nearby Red Lion and were given a friendly welcome with great food.

Wasn't happy with the ploughman's last time we went there was different cheese and was a lot better this time big lump of cheddar and thick ham my mother in law couldn't eat it

Roast was amazing! Very homey, Lots of homemade dishes, pies, ect ect. Puddings were great too Very rustic 🥰 And got a fantastic photo of my Mamgu and dad il treasure for a long time.

Country pub in pretty setting opposite cricket green. Decent pub grub not a gastro pub. Friendly service and nice garden and patio for outside eating when the weather allows.

No dogs allowed in doors even though GBG shows allowed Saying that I'll update CAMRA, normally ask about dog but busy and couldn't. Bad review as only offered out side so didn't have a drink. :-( ........................ Update...i've asked CAMRO to remove dog friendly advise to save conusion

Looking for a place to have a lunch and running late. This pub is in the old tradition not changed or updated in years and the better for it. Enjoyed the meal at a reasonable price.

Fantastic, cosy and authentic pub. I had the Roast Beef with mash, yorkshire pudding, veg and gravy. Marvellous stuff. Staff were brilliant and even bumped into a broadcasting legend. The best of British right here.
