The Cheeky Fox Restaurant in Omagh

Disappointed. Tables too close together and too busy given Covid situation. Terrible table service. No restaurant manager to organise the very busy waiting staff. Waitress only returned to table to clear it. Had to ask for glasses to be removed so that we had room for our food. No trays used to bring drinks to the table. Food was ok. Pricey £7.50 for two prawns!!!! Sea bream was excellent. Steak poor, didn’t seem to have been rested. 3 small pieces of cheese on a cheese board. Cocktails were excellent however. Just very disappointed with the whole experience.

What a great restaurant. Not only was the decor so atmospheric but the food, service and overall experience was first class. The wine glasses might have been expensive but nice to see the wine itself fairly priced. We will be back

First class food. The service was brilliant. The sirloin steak was class. My wife got the half chicken and half steak it was superb. The starters were unreal.

Took advantage of the ‘eat out to help out’ discount and did not need to book. Opted for the bar menu as a family of 4 and was seated promptly. Menus provided and our drinks order taken. Good selection for bar food and the food is restaurant quality. Large portions, each meal presented ted beautifully and full of colour. Waiting staff were all friendly, and the plates were cleared in a timely manner.Calling the cuisine ‘bar food’ really doesn’t do the Cheeky Fox any justice, superb and the food is superb, restaurant quality. Lovely venue.

My husband booked a table for my 50th Birthday with family and friends. Wow! The food was simply amazing: a great menu and delicious food! If you haven’t eaten in The Cheeky Fox, you are missing out! If you’d like cocktails, fine food and beautiful surroundings, you’ll find it here! We will definitely be back.

Wow wow my son and myself dined here and it was amazing. The surroundings and decor are amazing. The staff were so friendly and helpful and as for the food I could not fault it at all. Will defo be back just loved it

Having read the many positive reviews about this restaurant, my family and I decided to give it a go and we booked a table.This is the first time that I have ever wrote a review, but in this instance I felt I needed to. It was VERY disappointing. If you’re considering booking this restaurant as a large group, think again.Our experience from the Sunday lunch was that, the restaurant is missing a restaurant manager, and there are way too many staff not being coordinated. We had a booking if 16 people, our starters came out without an issue. The main course then came out. I would have given the food the thumbs up only that most of our dishes were cold. 2 of us had to send back the lamb to get reheated, the roast potatoes were as black as mountain turf!The sides came out 15 to 20mins after the main course was tabled. Most of us had finished our main course before receiving the sides. It was laughable...the last man to finish his dinner had 6 sides of all Veg. We then complained in the hope that the service in the desserts would be a bit more streamlined, but again the deserts came out to some and not to others. I never actually received my desert in the end so I had to ask them to take it off the bill. Then we ordered teas/coffees...and the same happened again. Some didn’t receive coffees and had to prompted 15minutes after everyone received theirs and then others received coffee that was cold and had to be reheated. The service overall was an absolute sham...the food, had it been received in full and warm, would have been ok, but again the kitchen service let it down. The deserts tasted good, but again the fact that a lot of us had to prompt the staff for missing dishes let everyone down. I sincerely want to give this restaurant a positive review, as it is a lovely setting, but the service was atrocious. It’s fine to have staff that are still at school, but you could atleast employ a manager and a chef to run the show. I doubt I’ll be back.

We booked a Friday night with friends as we've done many Friday nights before. With it being December they asked for a deposit. We paid £60 on the night 4 people went. A lot of people talk about The Cheeky Fox being overpriced already so when only 4 of us could attend and they refused to take the other £20 off we decided we wouldn't be back.The food was good but at one point I had to ask for a knife and folk I also had to ask for a new bill and remind them of the paid deposit. The waitress dealing with is was lovely and I felt the manager was a bit of a coward as he sent one of the girls to tell us they wouldn't be taken the full £60 off. I understand how deposits work but we weren't on a staff night out or a big party and we've eaten there on a Friday night previously so it was very disappointing.

Ive never written a restaurant review before ... Read on !Family gathering of 6 for our annual 'get together' - i had big concerns at reading the recent reviews but decided not to say anything to the others, but to go ahead anyhow.Impressions were : Lovely decor / appearance / attention to detail - warm welcome on arrival by the lady floor manager - menus arrived promptly & drink orders dealt with - the young looking staff were very friendly, polite and efficient and all seemed to be happy at their work ( refreshing in this day and age ! )- food arrived quickly with just enough time between courses and staff attentive to check up on how we were enjoying things. The food was very tasty, well presented and a good choice to suit various tastes.There was a lovely warm atmosphere, and plenty of room around the tables so the staff are not having to squeeze past with tray loads of food / drinks.Overall, we all had a lovely night out and will be back. After we'd paid, i did mention the poor reviews to the floor manager and she explained what had happened, which i understand was really beyond their control, and was something which has hurt them all and they have addressed the matter. I genuinely believe what she told me and could clearly see how much she was hurt by it all. This is what prompted me to write my first restaurant review and i agree with another reviewer ... just go and try it for yourself ... don't be put off.Thanks to all the staff and keep up the good work. - Alan

My mother and I were seated at 6pm and even though the restaurant was not busy, we were not eating until 45 minutes later. Half the menu was not available, there were very few waiting staff on and the food was very overpriced for what was offered. We had another lengthy wait before our dinner plates were removed. Desert was a sparce affair with our choices from the menu not available; we were informed they had only one chef on and they did not have time to “prep everything”. Very disappointing and I will not be back, there are better places to dine in within the Omagh/Ballygawley area who are attentive to their patrons and offer better value for money.

Our table was booked for 5:30, we were 10 mins late .Our table wasn’t ready so we were ushered to the bar only to be told 5 mins later it was ready & to be shown to a table that was free to begin with .Our order was taken , we were asked 2 times if we wanted menus after our order was placed then told at 6:45 they had lost our order .Every other table that arrived after us had food , we definitely were not priority.7:30 our food finally arrived. It was not very hot the Salmon just about edible.a pile of extra sides landed on our table that were never ordered .My daughter ordered fish fingers which were battered greasy fish chunks & greasy chips .No ketchup left.The table beside us had similar problems they got a free bottle of wine to soften the disappointment. This is such a shame as the decor is really beautiful & to put so much time , energy & money into this lovely bar & not to train staff & charge crazy prices really is baffling.We will definitely not be returning to this restaurant which is a shame.

Without doubt the poorest service (logistically) I’ve ever encountered: starters arrived intermittently over the span of an hour ... - one person ordered soup, which arrived long after everyone had finished. The steaks came unaccompanied and were frustratingly ingested, cold! without any sides - the piping hot mash materialised to empty plates. Our party opted out of desserts; we booked a table for 7:30 and decided to cut our losses at 23:00 and skedaddle. Also, there wasn’t any floor manager / front-of-house staff to communicate with; therefore, our grievances seemed irrelevant. I’m totally baffled how soup or mash can arrive so ridiculously late; without the slightest apology or explanation ... There’s often a delicate balance between good food and good service and unfortunately this place is profoundly lacking in the latter

Nice restaurant and great to have a new choice locally however more focus is needed. It was busy as we visited the weekend before Christmas and the staff should reflect this as the service was poor unfortunately. My personal opinion is that the food was expensive for what it was, living in England the food is of better quality and less expensive. The haddock slider for starter was small, 2 would have been ample especially with a very limited menu to chose from.Venison pie wasn't re heated enough and was luke warm unfortunately, none the less I ate it and it was tasty, lots of venison. The salt shaker lid had the pepper lid on it which was a disaster and soup spoons came with the dessert. Coffees ordered with dessert came 20 minutes after we had finished dessert. Hence my review title, they are not just there yet! We had to get up from table to ask for the bill and to pay for it as all staff where busy in the back towards the end of the night. I'm sorry to say I won't be rushing back.

Eight friends and colleagues enjoyed a lovely 3 course meal. Very nice food and great service. I would recommend you visit for yourself.

The food was very disappointing. The turkey dinner had been heated up in the microwave . The garlic chips were greasy & the service was average . I ordered a calypso coffee as I wasn’t having dessert & it was cold I had to send it back. I won’t be eating here again

Minuscule sized starters, two at the table order salmon which was over cooked and I had stake which was over salted, baked Alaska was a big let down, not a ‘show stopper’; perfect service but was let down by the food! (Party of 12) the wind tunnel open from kitchen

Really enjoyed Sunday dinner . Very tasty in beautiful surroundings . Only negatives are dessert menu different to that on website as Christmas desserts on now and kids menu good but again website needs updated iro price . However the kids meals were excellent. Staff very attentive . Will definitely return . Great to have somewhere like this in the locality .

Been here 3 times now and it has been consisently excellent, from the warm welcome and friendly service right through to the lovely tasty innovent dishes.

1st visit here ,food was excellent ,staff very attentive and friendly. Great to finally have some where decent to go and eat wonderful food in lovely surroundings,as there is nowhere in omagh that serves food anywhere near this standard. Well done cheeky fox !!!!

Someone forgot someone’s birthday cos they were too busy but not too busy to book dinner here last Friday. We arrived and were seated promptly. Andy gave us a wave and our waitress walked through the specials before taking drinks orders (including a special drink too) The place was buzzing with lots of chat and laughter from groups to couples hiding in a corner (we saw you)Starters came and were enjoyed. Rebecca, home from college was starving and thought the smoked salmon starter was too small. The risotto was great and the chicken starter was good too. Mains were picked and most had the specials, including the salmon, chicken/ham pie and others. Everyone was satiated (including Rebecca) after the mains and we didn’t have desertsAll in all, we had a lovely evening.

Was in the restaurant last night for a meal and was our first time. Well wow it was excellant the decor and food. Staff really friendly. The place was buzzing. We will be back. Did feel for the manager as electric had gone out, not the restaurant fault! But he was very good at his job. Look forward to our next visit.

Have been here twice - once for dinner and then for lunch. Food is lovely, but I think expensive for what you get. They are trying to do a fine dining experience, but when you serve fish and chips it can't cost a fortune. Don't get me wrong, it was lovely,but to expensive for what is after all a basic dish. Staff lovely but a bit inexperienced which is to be expected in a new restaurant. Lunch was the same menu which I was quite surprised at. Maybe they have a different menu which we didn't know about, but as it was lunchtime we all opted for starters. Same again, lovely but quite expensive. I hope they vary the menu more and offer more of a better selection at lunchtime, because it's a lovely restaurant.

I visited here for dinner last Sunday for the first time and loved the lay out of the place from the inside to the outside!The turkey and ham dinner was very good, piping hot and a generous portion size!Will return to try the evening menu soon!

1st time here, beautiful place and they have put real thought put into the design.Food was excellent.I had the trout which was one off the daily specials and my wife had the lamb, both very high quality.Excellent service + we will definitely be back

We went here for the first time a week ago. I told the waitress from the off set that we were tight for time as on way to airport, but that the other two of our family had not arrived yet. We ordered off set Sunday menu. This waitress was excellent, extremely courteous and thinking ahead, fast & quality service. Food was great , delicious bar not enough vegetables for 4 of us. We asked for more got them immediately not sure if we paid for extra veg or not. I think The owner Andrew Short was floating about , seems a very well run place. We went again tonight, waiter was lovely , very efficient, no bother to fit us in at short notice even though they were flat out all day. We ordered off normal menu, steak duo, absolutely cannot fault, good price , quick , the owner Andrew Short was strolling around just chatting to customers , seems a nice relaxed atmosphere. That’s twice we’ve been , I love it.

Food mostly beautiful but very overpriced menu for lunch. Helping of vegetables could be more generous May prove too expensive in winter months for Saturday lunch.

Absolutely faultless service, lovely food, classic when we visited on Sunday for our lunch but really nice and fantastic modern food presentation, good portion sizes and good enough value. Attentive staff and friendly. Very impressed.Decor was very impressive too, lovely details: interesting plates and glasswarelovely little details in the booth we sat at, prints on walls, lovely ornamentsmodern furniture and lovely interior styling and outside very modern and well thought through.10/10. hope this is a huge success for the people behind it and wish we had something like this near us.

Met by very welcoming and helpful waiting staff, myself and my friend were quickly seated in this modern, recently decorated restaurant. The decor is modern and very stylish with quality furniture and details such as the menu booklet and napkins!I chose the serloin steak which was cooked perfectly for me, with creamy mashed potatoes. My friend had the seabass which was presented beautifully. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout. Give this restaurant a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Ate here today for our first visit. Decor is gorgeous and very friendly staff. I opted for the breaded mushrooms starter and lamb rump for main. Delicious and meat was melt in the mouth. My husband had spicy chicken wings which he gave the thumbs up, smelt gorgeous and thought his salmon main was excellent . I finished my meal with an espresso martini which I have to say is probably the best I have ever had. Lovely atmosphere and look forward to coming back soon. Must try it out on an evening. Thumbs up all round.

Visited for a late lunch today.... Really love the decor and the finish is fantastic... However I felt it is over priced for the portions offered... £16.95 for a lunchtime chicken dish special is just ridiculous in my opinion. This would be the only reason I wouldn't return... Guys you may need to rethink the pricing structure to ensure you retain some lunch trade... Maybe that explains why there were only two other people in the restaurant..

This is our local, which has just opened a magnificent restaurant over the last few weeks. We've been waiting for a few days to come but circumstance forced us to rebook twice.The dinging room is very chic with copper colours reflecting off the raised walls panels and dark papers and. With booths on one side and nooks on the other, headed by a very substantial gin emporium bar at the front, the feel is comfortable and cosy, even though it could easily seat 100 people,So, we had to try the gin (twice), and the girls had some cocktails, all of which were served in crystal style glasses and embellished with fruit and copious amounts of ice. The service was relaxed, but certainly not slow, and the servers were efficient and friendly. We had several starters including the bread basket, the risotto and the slider. All were tasty, well presented and hot. Our mains were excellent too, we had the lamb, salmon and a burger, with greens, fries and rings.Since we were in late and the last to leave the dining room, we were left alone to enjoy our meal completely. All in all, this was a great first visit, and we've booked already to come back.
