The Bulkeley Seafood & Grill in Isle of Anglesey

Popped in for a drink as a table available over looking the water and hills. Very friendly place ( maybe because we had dogs) . Well priced beer. We we’re thinking of having our evening meal there, but the restaurant was too formal for our requirements and the bar area was small. Food however looked delicious

Bulkely is a facinating building, huge starcases from another time. Scones were ok, but they fell apart when applying the hard clotted cream. The waitress was complaining many times about how stress she was. I'm not interesting in listening to that, I want my food ordered and served.

This is a hotel in the old grand style but the food offer is varied and well thought through and executed effectively, The brunch arrangement on the sea side is well worth a visit. Sit in the grand armchairs and enjoy some generous prawn sandwiches for lunch.

An element of classyness about this place but in no way pretentious. Bags of atmosphere. Very spacious and no worries whatsoever re social distancing, covid compliance etc. A young staff, very efficient and couldn't be more helpful. Prompt service and excellent quality food and plenty of it. Not as dear as you may imagine. Slight let down in that there's no real ale available but there's a reasonable choice of drinks otherwise. Limited car parking at the hotel available but there's a massive public car park a short distance away available 24 hours.

We have been returning most Augusts for many years for family reasons. Last time it was called a Bistro. Nevertheless is still a very enjoyable meal. My wife has now a new favourite meal - The Mussels starter dish with a side order of chips. I thoroughly enjoyed the soup and sandwich. When I realised the the soup of the day was Leek and Potato I nearly changed my mind, so often too bland, but this was delicious. Unfortunately we live 120 miles away, otherwise it is a place we could enjoy bringing a friend to for a casual pleasant meal.
