A freezing cold Thursday in late November, after a day hiking the fells, the Boot Inn offered a warm fire, really friendly welcome ( including my slightly muddy Springer Spaniel) and excellent food and beer. (Chunky beef chilli with rice and chips and an Ennerdale Blonde in my case)

Stopped in here for dinner one evening. It was very busy so I'd recommend reserving at the weekend. Food was great and quick to come out piping hot! I had the cheese and onion pie. Good vegetarian/vegan options on own menu. Dog friendly and good choice of drinks and local ales.

Came in for a Sunday roast and it was unreal, even the gluten free roast. My girlfriend is coeliac and the staff were excellent and well knowledgeable. Great draught beers.

Great food and fantastic welcome from a top landlord. Boot is unbeatable and a stay at the Boot in has to be a compulsory part of a visit to this stunning part of the Lake District. Pictures are from the September 24 Eskdale Show and our walks along the valley and up Harter Fell). We will definitely be back!!

Fantastic place to stop if you're heading westbound from the centre of the Lakes towards either the Coast or the Scafell Pike route. Very well priced, lovely reception and selection of pints. Highly recommend.

Had an excellent Bank Holiday Roast at the Boot Inn! The vegetebales were fresh and not boiled to death. The stuffed chicken was very tasty and the atmosphere was relaxed.

This place is one of my favourite places to visit well worth the 6 and half hour drive the only thing I was disappointed with was the beef rib it’s just fat and hard skin and a big bone obviously but the actual meat was amazing but you only get a VERY small amount for the price but the rest of the food one the menu was very nice.

Love this place, walked past for many years and this year we decided to go inside and I am so glad we did. Food was excellent and prices weren’t too bad either

Awesome pub in the Eskdale valley. As someone who isn't from the lakes but visits often I'd say this is the most idilic/picturesque part of the lakes It's quiet, local and just what you expect. Foods excellent, ale is great and is very quiet and relaxing. The boot is a 5.minute walk from the Ravenglass train, which we went on, and the mill is a 1 minute walk - kids loved it.

Really good bed and breakfast. We went for my boyfriend’s birthday with another couple and had a great time! The Scottish girl that works there was brilliant and really nice with us. Room n 1 was really pretty and comfy, food was good, tandoori lamb was yummy and sticky toffee pudding also. The only problem was that they didn’t communicate us properly the checkout time so we were on a rush to leave the room. But apart from that great experience thank to the whole team.

My wife and I called for lunch during a drive around the area. Nice and tidy with a pleasant ambience very friendly and polite staff. Food was very nice (I had cheese pie, wife had fish goujon chiapata) and was reasonably priced, I can't comment on the beer but it looked to have a good selection. Good car parking and dog friendly however ours stayed in the car due to being old and tired 😄

A superlative walker’s inn. It has comfy, stylish, cozy rooms. The food is top class with interesting menu. The staff could not be more helpful and pleasant (super for vegetarian and gluten free diners). It sets the standard by which other inns should be judged.

We stayed for one night while cycling coast to coast. Despite arriving late and and at the end of service they couldn't have been more friendly. The food was top class and the room was really nice. They allowed us to bring our bikes into the pub overnight for safe storage as well which was really appreciated.

We planned our trip to Boot Inn to coincide with a walk from Wasdale Head on Easter Sunday. After our 5 mile trek it was great to be welcomed to this friendly pub. We were originally booked to eat inside but opted to sit in the pub garden as it was a lovely day. I had the beef and my partner had the lamb, the roast dinners were surprisingly good for the location, totally unexpected in such a small village. In particular we loved the variety and flavour of the vegetables that came with the roasts, the meat was also great quality. Such a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. The staff are also all very attentive and friendly, and the choice of beers is a plus. Would definitely recommend.

Lovely pub! We visited after traveling on the steam train with 4 kids and a dog, we were given a nice big table. My partner is coeliac and can't have gluten, the staff are knowledgeable about allergens and cross contamination, they have an allergen menu and the chips were also safe to eat.

We stayed at the nearby NT campsite, went for a walk with the dog and finished off with a pint and a packet of crisps - glorious. Whilst there booked for an evening meal. Service was fantastic, food was brilliant, beer smashing and Snoop Dawg was allowed in too. I can highly recommend this place and if it’s still on, try the Apple and Peach Crumble with a kick.

Absolutely fantastic place. We booked for a Sunday lunch, booking was easy and had confidence as they took my number just in case. The beer garden and play area where very charming and peaceful. Small field for the play area with a couple of swings. Patio type area with quite a few wooden tables and chairs. Inside we were greeted very warmly and seated by a very friendly woman. Menus provided quickly and order taken promptly, lovely selection on the vegan and vegetarian specials board as well as the main menu and children's menu. The food was delicious, hot and served really quickly. Even so we never felt rushed and had a lovely table in a little nook. We were playing a few games of uno around waiting for our mains and then waiting for our desserts and when we hadn't quite finished a game when our youngest daughter had gone out to play we were told there was no rush to leave as the table wasn't booked again for a few hours. It was so relaxing and the food was amazing and good service that it will be our go to pub for food whenever we are in Eskdale now, thoroughly recommend the place if you are in the area.

I came here by chance. Four nights. What a choice that was. Lovely place and people. Stewart and Anita, and Katie and Jay. And Bronson. It is one of the nicest and friendly places I have ever stayed. I'm 61 and have been around. If you like a curry. We'll.... Stewart makes the best curries from scratch. Better than Abduls takeaway around the corner.

My last review of number 11 was five stars the food was different exciting lots of different textures and delicious. What a difference the starter was half done and lazy we sent it back. The second one was the best part of the meal. The rest of the meal was all precooked nothing added no texture and totally uninspiring. This is a really nice place friendly staff and an owner who is passionate about food.Sadly the food is letting the place down.
