The Bonnybank Inn in Fife

The food was excellent but we had to wait a very, very long time for our food. An hour wait for a main was disappointing. Other tables that arrived after us were getting their food before us. The staff were lovely so I'm not sure what the issue was?

This was our first visit while visiting the area. We arrived early lunchtime & it was very quiet as expected but soon filled up & the atmosphere was buzzing. The service was great & the food absolutely delicious. Well done to all the team there. I only wish it was closer to home.

I haven't been for a few years and from what I remember to last night it certainly has gone down hill. Firstly our server was lovely, couldn't fault her. I'm only going to comment on my food and my husband's as we shared, the flutas were over cooked on the outside and just no flavour, our main of chimichanga was just that no garnish apart from lime we ordered with chips they were soggy and a tiny bowl of watery sour cream, the chimichanga wasn't so much crispy it was slightly crispy it looked decent but more soggy again no flavour and it wasn't pulled beef it was a slab of beef that was unflavoured, we had 3 hard shell tacos with chilli, pulled lamb and tinga chicken, the tinga chicken tasted awful like it was scooped out a tub more like a sandwich filler cold and no flavour again, the pulled lamb was like can't even explain but I had to spit it out very weird texture defo not pulled lamb my daughter had voiced that also, the beef chilli one was decent but again 3 small tubs of garnish red onion half filled tub, a mayo thing and pre grated cheese the cheap kind, my husband had a margarita thing with beer hanging out the top i had a pineapple juice. We didn't send food back or complain as my husband doesn't like that he is always worried in case something happens to the new food, he ate it, I didn't eat it, when asked how my food was I remained silent, my other family members didn't enjoy their food either but again ate it out of politeness. When it came to the bill there was a service charge added, why, we don't do that here and even though our server was nice the older one she looked agitated the younger one wasn't confident enough. I would have tipped our server separately but as a whole nope, overall I had a great time with my family but the food and atmosphere was a complete let down. I defo won't be back. We were asked if we wanted pudding when we replied no she did say oh yeah the portion sizes are big here, eh naw it's because I wanted to get out and always less is more, I feel since COVID that people assume giving the consumer more and they will enjoy it well sadly I'm not one of those people I want quality food and tasty food. Going out these days is a treat but for me it was a waste of money.

Went here as my son loves mexican food. Honestly it's not my favourite kind of food but what I had was very well made a tasted very good. Great service and a very chilled and relaxed environment for a family meal.

Food was amazing - without a doubt the best Mexican food in Scotland. Portions were plentiful and extremely tasty. Service was attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend for lunch or dinner and will 100% be back again soon. 10/10

Incredible night at the Bonny bank. Food, atmosphere and service were all top class. They also run a cocktail masterclass where the owner/entrepreneur shows you how to make their signature cocktail ‘Coronarita’. Would highly recommend

First time visit to the Bonnybank, won’t be our last. Very good food with large portions and a good choice of draft beers, tequila and other spirits. There was actually way too much food for the pair of us, consequently half of it now here in a breakfast omelette. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The restaurant was full and busy all evening which is no surprise given the quality of both food and service. Great restaurant for a meal out.

Firstly ,the online menu prices must be out of date as that’s not the prices when you go ! When i go out to eat i expect something a bit more special but this just wasn’t . Nachos were good but how wrong can you go with them . My enchiladas were very bland and the chicken was tasteless cubes . For the price i did expect far better .

I was taken there for my 60th birthday the owner and staff were out of this world. I would highly recommend the bonnybank inn to anyone, I will be going back again food and service out of this world.

Always have an amazing time at Bonnybank but tonight was made even better with Rhea’s 5 star service! She is an absolute tonic and a real credit to your restaurant. Her customer service was second to none and can’t wait to come back and hopefully meet the lovely Rhea again☺️.

Visited the Bonnybank inn on Friday night. We had nachos for starter which were HUGE! So tasty! Followed by the double chicken fajita. Staff made it clear that if we required more dips just to let them know. We tried the passion fruit and raspberry margaritas which were lovely. Will certainly be visiting regularly. Been quite a few time previously and I’ve got to say that the quality has certainly dropped. The fajitas used to be really good here but unfortunately they were disappointing as the tortilla wraps have shrunk to about half the size they used to be. The chicken was not as nice, a bit rubbery, couldn’t prove it but I think they’re using frozen chicken as it came in cubes which is a giveaway. There was no salad at all included as there always used to be and to top it off the portion size had definitely shrunk. The double fajita was about the size of the single one used to be. The Cajun fries were a bit soggy also The prices have increased which given the state of the economy I’m not surprised but if feels like they’re cutting corners as well, just don’t take it out on your customers as they keep you in business. Overall it was a disappointing meal and I don’t think we’ll be returning any time soon

Probable visit bonnybank once or twice a year but was disappointed that the plates were all chipped on this visit. I don’t just mean one plate or a small piece out of it but on each course atleast one of our plates were chipped. Food was nice and service good as always but this has put me off as when dining out I expect to receive decent plates

We have been here a few times before and it has always been okay., it’s not authentic mexican but okay. Tonight however I really didn’t like the food I was served and was approached by several members of staff to ask if they could replace my meal. Everyone was lovely. However at the end of our meal I was still charged £18 for something that I hadn’t eaten, and for that alone we will never be back. Clearly I was offered a replacement several times as not being charged for a meal you didn’t eat wasn’t an option. The chicken was my problem, was rubbery formed bits of over processed chicken. Normally I don’t complain about these things but after reading other reviews after coming home that say the same thing I think bonnybank inn need to sort their act out and improve the quality of their food to match the prices they are charging…. Never again

Great food and staff thoroughly made me feel at home especially as I was dining alone. It was a really nice change from the hotel and room service! Food was very tex mex so not authentic Mexican vibes but nonetheless was superb and tasty and left very full after starter, main and dessert! Had the nachos with beef, lamb fajita (really tasty) and the churros also amazing

A trip to Scotland wouldn’t be complete without a visit to my favourite Mexican restaurant! Visited a couple of weeks ago with my family and the experience was as great as the last time! The staff are so friendly and attentive and the food was amazing, portions are huge so go hungry! We had quite a few different things off the menu nachos, chicken fajitas, burrito and enchiladas and everything was really tasty. The homemade cheesecake is the best there is! We had a great evening just wish you were closer so it could be a regular visit! Especially with the prices. Can’t believe the value for money compared to down south! Thanks for a great evening team BB.

We made a visit last weekend for the first time for a family members birthday and have to say we were a bit disappointed. We had heard good things in the past so decided to visit for somewhere a bit different. We ordered a chilli beef burrito, tinga chicken tacos, a quesadilla with fajita chicken, Mexican meatballs and a child’s chicken tacos and a couple of side orders of chips. Each adult meal was priced around £15/16 which we understand is expected at the moment with costs on the rise, we just felt that the meals weren’t worth that unfortunately. The Fajita chicken and tinga chicken were quite bland and not a lot of flavour to them. Finished with cheesecakes and churros for dessert which were really good, you could tell the cheesecakes were homemade. We felt it was overpriced for the standard/quality of food so we wouldn’t rush back unfortunately.

Been twice before and really enjoyed it so made the trip from Dunfermline on Sunday. Starters were both really good. Myself and partners both ordered enchiladas I had the Chilli Beef and my partner had tinga chicken. The Chilli Beef was good the rice that came with it though just didn't go. Wasn't impressed with either the cheese covering the tortilla or the tortilla just a bit bland. My partner was very disappointed with the chicken describing it as low quality rubbery in texture so that hasn't left a great impression. £17 as well so the quality of meat should not be in question. So slightly disappointed with the meal on Sunday and not convinced I'll rush back which is a real shame.

Having visited several times in the past I was really disappointed with the food on this occasion.i ordered cajun chicken which looked like a sparrow that had been run over by a steamroller. This dish wash rubbery and inedible. Also the skin on chips were lukewarm at best.not at all what I've come to expect from this establishment

Me and my wife decided to go for a nice meal it was really good the service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. It was really busy we had 3 courses we both had fajitas I had chicken my wife had chicken but I never really liked the chicken I thought it was a bit rubbery I had the cheese cake I thought it would be just be a small slice but it was a big slice we both enjoyed our meal and will hopefully be back at some point. Also we were early but were take to our table.

Poor vegan selection, just standard mains without cheese or sour cream. Why not try putting vegan alternatives in place? Tortillas the size of Tacos. Our plates and bowls were chipped, bringing hygiene in to question. It's an expensive place for what & where it is. Parking limited.

We had an early evening dinner at The Bonnie Bank Inn. We started with before meal drinks followed by Nachos ans the anppetizer and then on to the Entree’s. As a Tex Mex style restaurant I can’t speak highly enough of the cuisine offered in the restaurant. The portion sizes resemble American size portion in abundance. All the food was fresh and served hot. It is apparent the Management team has trained the staff both front of the house the back of the house to exceed the expectations of the guest. I spent many years as a director of an American restaurant brand and would be proud to have a restaurant perform like the Bonnie Bank! Yet again, our expectations were exceeded. Great food, and well flavoured. It's great that things are almost completely back to normal, and that they're still busy.

Absolutely amazing. Heard about this place but had never tried it until now It was superb. Food amazing , and Luci our waitress was brilliant. Couldn’t do enough for us and was full of fun. I honestly can’t recommend enough.

Food was lovely can’t fault that. However the wait was terrible. We had our starter and then waited a further 50 minutes until our main course. I had to ask where the mains were and they said they’d bump us up to the top over the larger tables. Not great! The girl was lovely and apologised however would expect money taken off our bill or a free drink at least.

If you're into Mexican food, Drink and culture, This restraunt is for you. This is probably as close to Mexico you can get without the 11 hour plane ride. I had the tacos pictured above, Which were tremendous. I've no idea how I managed to eat all 3 😅. There is a huge selection and variations of food which spoils you for choice. The cocktail menu is top knotch and a whole library of different tequilas, Aswell as other spirits. I honestly wish I took more photos, As the whole place was decked out in candy skulls and Mexican flags 🇲🇽, Which really help create a great atmosphere. Can't wait to come back 😁

Good food, good portion sizes, very helpful and friendly waitress. The only negative was that the chicken in my enchiladas was not great (meat quality was not great - squidgy blocks more reminiscent of reconstituted meat rather than chunks of actual chicken breast). Other than that, it das a good visit..

This is a Mexican restaurant which has a reasonable menu. The interior is OK not palatial. Prices are not cheap menu OK. One drawback not a lot of car parking it is also on a main road and bus route so not a great situation.

I had always heard good things about this restaurant, but I had never eaten here until last night. I have been to various restaurants over the last few months, which have left me grudging the price of food for the quality received. However, I would fully recommend anyone to come to the Bonnybank Inn! There were four of us with two of us drinking pints. Each of us had a starter, a main course, and a dessert, all of the food was fantasic in terms of taste and quantity! For the first time in a while, my wife and I have left a restaurant completely satisfied with the whole night and happy to go back any day! We even took home leftovers!

The food and service was excellent but there was a table of 10/12, around 30yr olds next to us and they were so loud that we couldn't hear ourselves talk, the more they drank the louder they got. The staff were very good and got us another table away from them so it turned out fine but I don't think we would go back at the weekend.

Recently visited for a friend's birthday, the restaurant has a great atmosphere, the staff were excellent, very attentive and friendly. Food was really good and the portions are massive. We will defo be back.

Popular little Inn due to the excellent Mexican food, Do book a table Parking at rear can get full (a little awkward) Do enjoy a margarita ( there's non alcohol lager or cider for the driver) with your food After your meal, if you can't eat it all, you can take a dogbag home or order a takeaway for tomorrow's lunch at home if you scoffed the lot. We were expecting great things after all we had heard. Unfortunately for us at least, it didn't live up to expectations. The staff were fantastic but the food was mediocre. We both found it bland. We had a margarita (our favourite cocktail) and couldn't even taste the alcohol. The place was packed and seems very popular but as far as authentic Mexican food goes we both have to give it a thumbs down.

Had a meal yesterday with my partner, great menu, great food and great staff. Always the same when we visit, will be back.

Going slowly through the menu? Some dishes a bit too spicy but that's personal preference. Lovely staff, all very helpful when choosing dishes. Great atmosphere. Best of all only 2 minutes walk, lol.
