Worth checking out, traditional fish and chips and if you want a beer (or two) you can eat them next door in the wharf tavern ...

This fish & chip shop was originally purchased by Richard Grainger of the Wharf Tavern next door, and was run by one of his daughters. Specialising in good ol' English fish & chips, the Battered Friar is one of the very best.

Without a doubt the best chip shop in Stalybridge Only problem is the place is never open but there’s always a queue going out the door 🤣

Absolutely fantastic fish and chips, very generous portions and service with a smile. The best chippy in Tameside!
