The most amazing omakase experience. The chef was absolutely brilliant and a pleasure to watch - a true master of his craft. The food was delicious and everything was prepared with such care. Had an amazing time. The only thing that caught me out was that I believe I'd booked the reduced price "lunch" omakase, but ended up experiencing the full menu. We paid more than anticipated but honestly it was worth it.

My partner and I had the lunch omakase with sake pairing. Fantastic experience with truly excellent food, especially the scallop and selection of bluefin cuts. Both staff and chef were friendly and accommodating. A meal to remember. We will definitely be back for the full evening course soon.

Wow! What a gem! The best sushi Omakase we’ve had, on par if not better than anything we ate in Japan! Chef is a master of his craft, carefully preparing each dish. Highly recommended

An authentic omakase experience at Sushi Nakamura- My sister and her boyfriend came to visit us this Christmas, and I took them to Sushi Nakamura today. We all agreed that they have the best Tuna sashimi we ever tasted. I first tried it at Hana Matsuri (the old shop before they open Sushi Nakamura) and it was a truly eye opening experience. They serve their sashimi with freshly ground wasabi rather than store-bought counterpart. The chef was professional and meticulous with food preparation - it was like a feast to the eyes. If you are looking for a place to have a memorable meal with your family or friends, I highly recommend this place - you will get high quality food prepared by a professional Japanese chef using the freshest produce, with no pretentious decoration or unnecessary flamboyant stuff, just the real deal !!! We will be back very soon ourselves !

Amazing omakase experience at Sushi Nakamura. All the handmade sushis are served with the freshest ingredients. The wasabi was freshly ground in front of us. I normally don’t eat wasabi at all but that was completely different from the normal ones. I love their fatty tunas the most. These were slightly torched to perfection and smell battery, they just melt in the mouth. Everything was well-portioned and the whole dining experience was very satisfying. Highly recommend to anyone who values good sashimi. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Purposely drive 1.5 hour to try this restaurant. The restaurant looked so 'low profile' from the outlook but this is definitely one of the best Japanese fine dine in UK. Standard price for Omakase, and their omakase menu included so many dishes (look at the menu!). All the ingredients were fresh, the food tasted so good, very authentic Japanese vibe. Chef is very friendly as well. This was the first time I enjoyed eating Tuna sashimi, their tuna is the bluefin tuna which taste significantly better than other normal Japanese restaurant! Even their wasabi tasted so authentic and not the usual wasabi paste in other restaurants. Definitely will come back again and hopefully get to try different menu next time!

Sushi Nakamura is without a doubt the best Japanese in Leeds and one of the best I have tried in the UK. The service is impeccable, the fish is fresh, delicious, and savvyly selected. The chef is a delight to spend time with. Honestly, reminiscent of being in Japan! Loved it!

One of my friends dined in there recently and I don’t think the chef realised that they spoke Japanese. The abuse of the wait staff by the owners was horrible to witness. Great food but pathetic owners.

My recent dining experience at Sushi Nakamura was nothing short of extraordinary. This intimate gathering, led by a masterful chef, offered an unforgettable culinary adventure. The set menu, a carefully curated selection of dishes, provided a truly immersive experience that lasted a delightful two hours. For those who appreciate the delicate flavors of raw fish, this restaurant is a must-visit. Each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the chef's expertise in preparing and presenting the freshest seafood. From the subtle nuances of sashimi to the intricate artistry of sushi, every bite was a revelation. While the focus was undoubtedly on seafood, the entire menu was a testament to the chef's culinary skill. The accompanying sides and beverages complemented the dishes perfectly, creating a harmonious and satisfying dining experience. If you're a true seafood enthusiast or simply seeking a unique and memorable dining adventure, is a must-try.

My partner and I booked Sushi Nakamura for our anniversary in March (sorry it’s taken so long for a review Chef!) and it was a fabulous evening. The team made us feel so welcome and we were ready to taste some real delights. Beautiful fresh ingredients which showcased a real devotion and attention to detail in sourcing the produce. Said ingredients were prepared elegantly and in a way that made them all shine. We opted for the sake pairing and I’m glad we did, we got to sample a great variety which were all expertly paired. We closed out our evening with a last couple of drinks chatting with Chef and it was lovely getting to know him. Cannot recommend the experience enough!

The best dining experience I had in Leeds. The exclusivity and supreme service in Sushi Nakamura really elevated the experience. The dishes' authenticity and the atmosphere made me remember the restaurants in Japan I recently visited. You could tell that the ingredients were of the finest quality, the fish was very fresh, and the taste was genuine. The excellent selection of sake and wines also matched the dishes. One more plus point is that one can see how the chef prepares the nigiris right in front of you. He was also very friendly, making the whole experience incredibly pleasant.

Sushi Nakamura delivers outstanding sushi with Japanese authenticity that is rarely found outside of London. The fish is meticulously chosen based on seasonality and freshness. His homemade ginger is also amongst the best thats available in Japanese restaurants in the UK. Service is impeccable, as you would expect from Japanese hospitality. The sushi chef is friendly and funny, and the automated Japanese toilet is a fun bonus. Highly recommended for sushi enthusiasts!

Japanese hospitality at its best. The food is exquisite, I didn't think it was possible, but it gets even better with every visit. Fresh, responsibly sourced ingredients & simple, amazingly well done food. It's easily the best Japanese food I've had outside of Japan.

First of all, the restaurant block the comments automatically if you don't put 5 stars in the review!! They also just block the comment if they don't like even if it is true! I personally want to give 2 star to this place. They might think did their best. This is just about my experience and I say what I want to say in the review! This omakase was held at 8pm 15/05/2024. It is quite a different omakase I have tried so far. The staff is well educated. She washed our glasses after we finished the meal. The chef however, we are foreigners but he speaks Japanese names of each menu he serve to us. The thing is, Japanese is not our native language! He doesn't expain what which fish, which sauce which rice which seaweed they are using when serving each food. I would say there is no difference with a very decent robot is making sushi for you. The interior is bit weird. It is more closer to calm izakaya then omakase. The music is bit loud. It was awkward when me and my friend are only there and the music is loud. Our conversation was slightly muted because of the music. The atmosphere looked I should be quiet so me and my friend couldn't speak loud. I also felt a bit weird with the alcohol list because in Japan, wine culture has been developed from 1970s mixed with Dom Perignon and Romanee Conti together for instance. But I couldn't find any champagne in the list! But they charged 70 pounds when I brought a champagne. Normally the fine dinning restaurants in London they pay 50 pounds per bottle for the fee! I would understand if they even listed one champagne in the alcohol list but it is nit good (boo~~). And what the chef said before I arrive to the restaurant, he will call the supplier and see if they have the same champagne when I ask if I can bring my wine! I mean, if the restaurant doesn't have any champagne listed (haven't prepared any champagne to the customers), why do you call the supplier now to let us buy the champagne from the supplier????? The supplier takes time at least it will probably need one day in advance to order the wine. As a person who is qualified to WSET level 2 in wines, the restaurant should make a new policy about wine and learn as well. The knowledge and how to serve the wine is very important in fine dinning. Just selling and benefits without customer's satisfaction cannot be called as a fine dinning. The champagne should be opened when the customer wants to open the champagne! The champagne that was been shaking when we were heading to the restaurant and the pressure of the bubbles will be more stronger after that so it is definitely spill even when it is straight! If you want the customers pay the fee for 70 pounds per bottle, you need to have at least the similar experience or knowledge about alcohols in general as mine! The food was good. Especially the matured raw wagyu was expectional. Worth paying 50 pounds for 8 pieces. It cost 320 + 50 + 16?(I don't know if they even served the wagyu onigiri cuz they only give us the wagyu sushi and it doesn't contain the seaweed) + 70 = Over 450 pounds for two of us and we were not full. When I normally visit the restaurant cost this much, I am full even I am in London. Need more service. I feel this place is just to earn money from foreigners who haven't experienced the omakase before in Asia!! I think these are the reasons why there is no one booked for the evening here! People are smart to just book for the lunch!

Best restaurant in Leeds. Food is very high quality and elegantly executed and the service is excellent. The venue is authentic and makes you feel like you could be in Japan. Even the toilet is a Toto Japanese electronic one with all the typical controls you’d expect.

Wow. Amazing sushi service with cuts and types of fish you can't get anywhere else outside of London. Every course has a unique taste to it which is not bad considering there are 22 courses. The authentic Japanese wasabi, vinegars and soy sauce are used to cure and marinade the fish but don't over power it at any point. Worth paying for the A5 wagyu course as not often you get the proper Japanese grade meat. We were made to feel very comfortable despite the intimate setting. For bonus points and the full experience make sure you check out the Japanese toilet 😉

Fabulous new venue from the same people that ran Hanamatsuri in Meanwood. From the polite and welcoming greeting, to the super high quality ingredients, the all round experience was fabulous. The sake pairing was excellent too, showcasing a brilliant variety that we would never normally experience. Highlights for me were the Scallops, the three types of tuna and the braised Octopus. Everything is prepared freshly in front of you by Chef and was great to watch such an expert. Highly recommend a visit to the amazing hidden gem.

A wonderful and unique experience! The environment was very relaxed and intimate, and much less "stuffy" than other fine dining experiences, having just a brief description of each dish, which let the food speak for itself. It was really lovely to watch each dish crafted right in front of you, with care by the chef. Was also the first time I'd ever really tried sake, which I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it!

Once you step inside it truly feels like you have left Leeds behind. This was one of the most spectacular dining experiences I have ever had. The food, atmosphere and service were amazing. I passed a number of similar high end sushi restaurants when I was in Kyoto, but didn't eat at them, due to time limitations on my trip. I feel like I have had that experience now, with the bonus of an English speaking chef.

This is the new omakase sushi place by the chef (and crew) of HanaMatsuri (Meanwood) in downtown Leeds, same profile, only in a bit more spacious and modern settings. We've loved our visits both at the previous and new location, very nice experience with exquisite, authentic food in a small-group, quiet sushi bar setting. I can heartily recommend visiting, this is one of our most precious favourites in the wider area.

If you are looking for an authentic sushi but don't want to travel down to London, this is definitely the best option in the North. The restaurant really felt like I was in Japan, and I loved the bar area they had before the Omakase itself. The cocktails menus all had Japanese twist to it, which I appreciated. The selection of Sake was really great, although I'm more of a Shochu man myself. Can't praise the omakase itself. 10/10 would recommend.

The perfect beginning to our daughter's birthday today. Thank you so much for looking after us so well. The full English was absolutely delicious. The mocha coffees better than some large chains and such a kind gesture to give our daughter a free birthday cupcake!
