Sunray Home Bakery in Newry and Mourne

I brought a Lemon Meringue Pie whilst I was in Castlewellen On Saturday supplied by Sunray Bakery, Whawhoo what can I say. This was the best Lemmon Meringue Pie that I have ever tasted. The Meringue was Super-Soft like I was eating a cloud and the base was really firm in texture and very yummy. The Lemmon filling was Super-Sweet and lovely and tingly on my tiung. I intend to go back to the Castlewellen Fuel Station this Saturday once again and I will differently be buying another Lemmon Meringue Pie from Sunray Bakery. Would very highly recommend Sunray Bakery Lemmon Meringue Pie. 5 Star Rating ....... Really sorry that I had not a proper photo of Sunray Lemmon Meringue Pie because I loaded my review after I had finished eating this very Lemmon Meringue Pie. In comparison I recently bought a Lemmon Meringue Pie from our local bakery The Cookery Knook’ who are based in Portadown, The meringue was very sugary to the point that I could taste each gradual of sugar in my mouth, the base was wet not firm and the Lemmon filling was very disappointing. I can’t praise Sunray Bakery enough for providing Northern Ireland with their very yummy Lemmon Meringue Pie. Thanks guys.......

Sunday was our place to go for a long time. When our friend told staff, there was a hair on her food, she was told "it must be yours". Our friend has black hair, the one on her plate was blonde.

It's like being in a country cafe. They all shout at each other and customers with familiarity. They even know my wee dog when I call at front end which sells the bakery products. The Cafe is rough and ready budget grub and does the trick. Seems to have a lot of regulars. I like to visit for fries or sausage rolls or soup etc.

Short an sweet best fry in town and excellent prices. Staff are always on the ball. Always nice to pass the bakery end after a good feed

At the Sunray where I've been going for years you get a genuine welcome from the lovely staff here who know their customers and treat them like 'family'. The prices are great here and you can get a full fry or just beans or scrambled eggs on toast...or the salad bar, or the daily special, or just a pastry and a coffee. There are also great 'kiddies meals' that really cant be got as cheap anywhere else for what you get, including the friendly service. I rate this as THE friendliest, most down to earth cafe for the 'locals' in Newry. It is not extravagent or plush, just 'no frills' but it's the people in it that make it....you never fail to meet someone you know here, or someone you dont't know even who will have a friendly chat with you! It is full of repeat , regular customers which speaks for itself! As for the bakery there is plenty on offer here and great bread and many buns and pastries on special at the end of the day. I've always long maintained that this is THE FRIENDLIEST CAFE IN NEWRY! Well done to the staff.

The Sunray bakery is a great little place that some would miss because it's so small. But they do 10/10 fries and always have done. The staff are friendly and would have the craic with a plastic bag if they could! Would prefer their lovely buns over any other bakery in newry too. Been going there since I was small and I'll take my kids too.

Went here to order a 30th Birthday cake & stayed for snacks...small meal was delicious, staff were kind, efficient and well attired. Everywhere was clean & having ordered my cake for the following week-end ...i was happily on my way. Gary then e-mailed me to ensure I forwarded the photo I wanted on the said Birthday Cake, note, without his kind reminder I would have forgotten.Cake was both delightful to look at and to eat. Absolutely love the fries in Sunday!! Absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a miserable day, when I'm looking something tasty and filling. The staff are so polite aswell and always stop to have a chat. Small place but moves quickly enough, will defiantly be back - I've been going for over 4/5 years :)

I was starving and fancied a late brekky. Had saw the 3.75 offer. One sausage. One bacon. One egg. Beans. Half soda and one potato bread along with small pot of tea. All round good. Breads home baked and fry tasty. Now its not an up market a la carte place but a friendly inexpensive workers type cafe. Recommend it. Got some apple pancakes to take away. Keenly priced. Tasted good but little apple involved. Still nice.

Great selection food at very reasonable prices! All day fry for only £3.75 which includes tea or coffee. Soup and sandwich combo or daily dinner special all for under £5... Very homely atmosphere and great craic between staff and customers! A bakery at the front of shop for fresh bread, scones and buns...
