What a fantastic little cafe this is!! Such a warm welcome, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were lovely. Felt very covid safe with sanitiser stations around, masks, visors and socially distanced tables. The breakfast was gorgeous and the coffee delicious. We will definitely go back. Thank you!!

We stopped for lunch here for the simple reason that it was about half way on our journey. How glad we are that we did. Lovely people, delicious homemade food (fabulous cakes!) and very very good value. Spotlessly clean and felt very safe in the current climate. We have bookmarked to visit again in the future!

This was an excellent find. It is small but cosy. Best not to visit when the church comes out on a Sunday because it suddenly becomes very packed. So get there early for breakfast! Quality food. Reasonable prices and all fresh and cooked to order. A lovely peaceful place except on Sunday!

I visited this unique little cafe a while back with my other half looking at reviews for good Places to eat. It’s extremely welcoming with good cheerful vibes and friendly heart warming people all around. And the breakfast was simply divine. I took a cheeky glimpse of the other food they were serving which looked incredible. Highly recommend this place to anyone. It has a religious theme and the monks are quality geez’s. His holiness would approve!

Visited here with a friend after recommendation locally. Lovely, clean, welcoming place in the Friary grounds. Staff are so polite and caring, it was a pleasure to visit. Excellent basic food (including fishfinger butties which are highly recommended), freshly prepared. They even offer to put more boiling water on your pot of tea without extra charge - that is very rare! The cakes are superb. We only tasted then on the grounds of research (!) but just don't miss them. This place is very small but popular locally, well worth a lunchtime visit.

Happened on St Pio’s cafe with a bit of googling on Sunday lunchtime as we were looking for a light lunch before leaving north Wales. It’s lovely. Staff and fellow customers all very friendly, great coffee and yummy Welsh Rarebit topped with bacon. We also took a (huge) slice of coffee and walnut cake for later. Weather was cold, wet and windy when we were there so will explore the church on our next visit.

We had planned a visit to St Winifred’s well and wanted some where to eat afterwards and saw the reviews on TA. it was small but welcoming. I had the fish finger butty with coleslaw and salad on the side and a cup of coffee with orange Madeira cake it came to £12.00. I couldn’t eat all the bread it was too much. It was lovely Henllan bakery bread. My friends had the soup which they said was lovely.

Very interesting, historical monastery/retreat. Whether you are into religion or not, what a great building and outdoor areas to explore. Food was good. We had a lovely breakfast, nice chatty staff, typical cafe menu with good prices and all home cooked. Crayons and pens out for children. Shop next door. The cafe needs a bit of a spring clean throughout but worth the trip out here above Holywell.

We went to this small cafe to celebrate my daughter's fortieth and granddaughter's ninth, and had the most entertaining time, courtesy of Brother Martin and the other staff. The food is mostly sandwiches, pizza, baked potatoes or soup, which were all delicious and fresh. The main attraction, apart from the ambience, is the array of gorgeous cakes and shakes, which were fantastic. Don't know if eating a whole slice is advisable after sandwiches but the kids managed to polish off Nutella shakes and lemon drizzle with ease. Brother Martin and his staff brought out the cakes with candles, which was a lovely touch and sang Happy Bithday twice, as well as giving the birthday girls a pot angel each. A must-visit place!

I love that the tea comes in china cups with an individual tea pot - they don't match but are so lovely to look at and tea tastes best in bone china. Have had the coffee and walnut cake, the xmas cake, the tea cake, the toast and Jam is delicious, locally baked bread cut in doorsteps and home made jam. The bacon and egg sandwich is very good too.
