S & G Bistro Pizzeria in Denbighshire

Once again had fantastic meal here. Always a warm welcome, met with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they don't constantly hover asking if everything is alright. They do ask but only once or twice. I really enjoy the dining experience here.

What a great place! We dropped in for lunch and were not disappointed. The food was delicious, the staff were great and the ambience very pleasant. A must if you’re in Llangollen and will definitely return.

Superb place for breakfast and a great coffee - £12 all in which is a bargain. Efficient, brisk service too. Love the griddled bacon - made it taste healthy. Somewhat bizarre and spooky bookshop upstairs; a stupendous amount of books but weirdly pricey and look out for Miss Haversham

Visited Llangollen for the first time in a while and stumbled across this very charming bistro. We'd never been before, and thankfully they're dog friendly, given a lovely warm greeting, followed by prompt service with a smile. The food, drinks, atmosphere, the staff ..... basically.... everything was outstanding 10/10. Tasty food, at good value, relaxed atmosphere and lovely people. I would not hesitate to recommend going back, for either a family meal, catch up with friends or just a coffee in a lovely setting. Thank you and we look forward to many more visits 😀

Came a couple of nights ago as a family and had a great time. Food fantastic and service spot on. Spanish sea bass and Caribbean chicken spot on. Came and tonight and if anything even better. Top hit was the chicken piri piri tagliatelle. Service again great and prices very reasonable. I can’t believe how un busy the place is. A must if your in Llangollen.

This is real nice place we have been here a lot of times , the food is 10/10, the staff are very good and freindly , the veggie breakfast is well worth it excellent 👍👍

Stunning food. Staff couldn’t be nicer. Took little dog and they were great with him ( free sausage). Was empty when we went which I can’t understand because everything was A1.

This place was empty don't know why as the food is amazing. Best pizza tasted my partner had and I had black spaghetti with prawns etc Beautiful. As everyone says music all different kids play area and a book store. The way I look at it is it caters for everyone. It wasn't too expensive. It's a shame it's empty as I would highly recommend.

This place is a gem. Do not underestimate the facade ....the food and drink is magnificent !!!!!a little strange with the music in a good way !! The place is a little strange ,,,,refreshing, suits everyone has a bookstore on 1st floor and children's play area in the back. Staff fantastic and attentive without overbearing. Possibly the nicest pizza I've ever had! Service was great too! There was no atmosphere, however we went for dinner at 8pm on a Sunday evening so we were the only ones in there! But it was nice to have a quiet restaurant! Would 100000000% recommend to anyone coming to Llangollen.

Wonderful, friendly staff. Great coffee. The decor is very tired but that does not detract from this being a genuine and cosy place. The bookshop upstairs is phenomenal too. It's cavernous

A very nice cafe in the heart of Llangollen, great coffee, and a great atmosphere too. Staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a selection of hot and cold food and some very nice cakes. Children are welcome too, and parties are catered for, like birthday parties and christenings etc

We visited this lovely bistro twice as we stopped over in Llangollen on our way to and from a holiday in Criccieth. The atmosphere is really relaxed, cosy and warm. Great coffee and cake served beautifully. There’s a bookstore upstairs with more books than my local library! We highly recommend 🌟

Absolutely terrible, thought I would try this place as I haven’t before and noticed from a book shop. From the moment I walked in there was an odd atmosphere, first the place is very dark even with it being sunny outside there is none inside what so ever, second the service is terrible my drinks were taken fast but to order food was very slow. I decided to order the tuna panini which was just so dry same with the chips that came with it. Staff sitting at the window on their phones like they don’t even care. Whilst waiting for the food I was looking about and noticed the soft play area, absolutely freezing in there considering it’s for children, the music coming from the kitchen being able to hear it from the entrance to enter in there, and then… the smell of smoke, whether they smoke from outside or in I’m not too sure is most definitely not good if this is a so called soft play area.

Great soft play area in the back for kids (much larger than you’d think!) and personable staff. Vegan milk alternative options present for hot drinks. I wasn’t eating food but didn’t notice anything explicitly vegan on the menu - perhaps they can do vegan options I didn’t ask, but would be great to see some vegan options on the menu if I go back in the future, I’m even happy to suggest some options if that would help. Regardless was a great day, diolch

All four of us had pasta that was really tasty and impressed us all. The white Sauvignon and beer were also really good value. Service was very friendly and efficient. We’d definitely go back again

Called in here for a “spur of the moment” breakast a couple of werks ago and I just had to tell the staff it was the best we’d had for a long time. Purely on the basis of our breafast experience, we popped in again today for an evening meal. Carribean chicken and pan-fried salmon - absolutely off the scale! Beautifully presented, really tasty and reasonably priced. If you’re looking for anywhere to eat in Llangollen, just go to S & G - you don’t need to try anywhere else! We’ll definitely be back - soon!

Staff are unbelievably rude!! Would not recommend this place to anyone with a family member/friend with disabilities. My 14 year old autistic sister was allowed to go into the play area by one member of staff to then get abuse hurled at her by a woman staff member who began shouting aggressively “no big people” as she is tall for her age, which obviously really distressed her. She then tried to lie about there being signs up saying “no over 9’s” and proceeded to say that my sister was “not normal” - absolutely vile behaviour. There were no signs up anywhere saying this at all and if this was the case then the first member of staff who allowed my sister onto the play area should have made us aware before she was embarrassed by the next who began to bark at us. I am so unimpressed by this, as someone who likes to support small businesses this is somewhere that should be avoided at all costs. Absolutely disgusting!!!

The manager here was absolutely brilliant with a large group of 15 of us for my birthday. I completely forgot to send the pre order until the day before but they made sure all of our choices were fulfilled and dealt with us really well with swift service and great food. Even fitted us in on one big table which is no mean feat!

We were seated instantly and were greeted by a friendly waitress (blonde hair and glasses) who took our order and was very kind and attentive to us during our visit. The food was lovely and service from staff was amazing.

Lovely food. We was walking around llangollen town looking for a bite to eat. We liked the look of this place so went in. I had carribean chicken with chips and salad. My partner also had chicken in a mushroom sauce and both meals was really nice. Lots of choice on the menu loads of nice dishes to choose from. Two meals and two drinks each came to £54 not bad

After scrutinising the menu for something without cheese! ( yes really…..they must have lots) , I asked for a Thai chicken panini. Now I know panini often have cheese and the cheese ones were listed! I have a health issue that means I can’t eat cheese. My lunch arrived and I was just finishing the tasty first half when a string of mozzarella appeared ……I opened the panini. And to my horror, it was very cheesy! I hadn’t tasted it because of the Thai sauce. This is not listed on the menu at all…….why oh why not? Also, the young waitress ( slim, long straight blonds….not tied back hair, glasses, chewed gum the entire time which was pretty disgusting to be honest 🤮

Impromptu visit with friends and family to S&G Bistro-Pizzeria whilst visiting Llangollen. There's a lot going on here - cafe, bar, multi food style restaurant, children's play area (to the rear) and a large book shop to the first floor. We ordered a range of food items off the menu and all were superb. Staff were friendly and helpful. Footfall was steady which helped with the atmosphere, but such a wide range of offerings and associated customers somehow didn't seem to sync. Not sure why. Overall, a great experience- glad we stopped by 😋

Never had a bad meal here yet. Nice atmosphere, very pleasant staff. Extensive menu, dishes have excellent presentation. Even the cappuchino, no generic dusting of cocoa powder on top. Well recommended.

This was a wonderful place to meet our friends from Liverpool to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The lamb shank was outstanding As well as all of the desserts pictures are included.

This is a great place for fabulous food. We had the Pate and Cheese Garlic bread for starters and then Lasagne and Sea bass for mains. All the food was beautifully cooked and presented and the service was excellent. We had a bottle of wine which was very reasonably priced at £18.

Neither good nor bad. The dishes are clearly not up to the prices displayed. The food is not memorable, everything is very basic The welcome and atmosphere remain friendly, especially since dogs are accepted. Where the problem lies is that there is (too) a wide choice on the menu. Not necessarily worth the detour.

Came across this little gem by chance as we were in Llangollen for a concert. Vast menu with large choice of food. Food came within a few minutes. Food was piping hot and very tasty. The gammon I had was excellent.

We went in for dinner and a drink, the price is reasonable and the food is delicious. Both of us managed to pick something healthy and scrumptious off the menu straight away, the presentation of the food was delightful and the taste was perfect. The service was good, no one came over too often or too little, responsive to our needs. The atmosphere was nice (we did go in around 5/5:30 ish) music in the background provided a nice chilled environment.

Went in on Wednesday 20/05/2024 Place was empty my wife ordered ham & mushroom pizza,I ordered margarita pizza. starter was garlic cheese bread. Starter was ok. The pizzas were awful. The only way to describe the pizza base. It was like eating corrugated cardboard 🤦. I didn’t eat half only managed. Less than half. My wife gave up. We were asked if we wanted to take the rest away in a box. What for ? Absolutely disgusting. I’ve never written a bad review before but honestly it was awful.

Popped in for some food on my own on Saturday evening. I had the honey mustard pork loin which was absolutely delicious and a really generous portion size

Went as we usually frequent the "Dragon Den" for kids - but sadly this closes at 5pm, but our little boy was having a good day and sat super well for his dinner. The waiter was exceptional, super attentive and smiling and friendly.. his Italian personality shone through! The food was a little hit and miss... my little boy had a Hawian Pizza which was absolutely delicious!!! Our calamari starters where ace - made from calamari steaks they really were tasty. The mains were were S&G fell a little flat, the T-bone steak was prepared rather oddly where it seemed to have had a mallet taken to it was more on the blu side and not rare as requested... after a "pounding" this may have required an adjustment in cooking time. The lamb shank, which fell off the bone, was drowning in gravy which made the mashed potatoes a bit "soggy"... I do like gravy but the plate was filled to the brim with it! HOWEVER, the great service made up for the mains and I would really highly recommend S&G to all visiting in Llangollen!

We are on holiday in the area and was looking for somewhere to eat, that was dog and children friendly and i came across S&G bistro on trip advisor. we was not disappointed. Beautiful cafe at the front and at the back, child heaven with a fantastic climbing soft play with 2 slides, 2 ball pits and lots more. Great menu and everything thought of. plenty of high chairs and baby changing very close. Upstairs are the toilets and a large book shop. toilets were very clean. The staff member was very welcoming and friendly. Our 15 month old had a fantastic time and is now fast asleep.

Wow what an unusual place! Disgraceful food! How can you serve a potato which has been mashed throughout almost to a pulp then put on top of a few tiny ripped pieces of potato skin and call it a jacket potato? . Most bizarre place I’ve ever eaten in. Llangollen is a lovely place to visit in Wales and we were on a high after going white water rafting the previous day and wanted to visit the following day but this place certainly put a downer on the whole holiday. Would have enjoyed just a basic whole potato instead of what you served me today.

Rainy afternoon after the Llangollen boat trip across the aqueduct. Enjoyed the pate and a couple of glasses of wine and took a Greek salad to go for dinner.

A very confusing restaurant containing a rather noisy creche, and a bookshop! Had a full English breakfast, it was pretty standard! Probably wouldn't go there again. Coffee was OK though.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon in January, the bistro wasn’t that busy and the food was amazing. Two of us had lasagne and I have got to say it was one of the best lasagnes I’ve had for along time. My husband had a pizza and said it was amazing. Will definitely visit again

Service was too slow, took them over 30 mins to come and take our order, but food & drinks ok. Long queue for the 1 working toilet. I will not return !

Lovely dining experience with high quality authentic italian food at a great price, quirky location with a second hand book store upstairs and a children's play area at the back. I would definitely recommend you give it a go you won't be disappointed.

Paid over the odds for a T bone steak which was not good enough to charge £30 for. Friends has other food which they said was OK. Service was great but obviously food is the main aspect of the restaurant.

The food was very good. The pizza was very large and tasty. The fish and chips and scampi and chips were also very good, only the side salad wasn't great. The spaghetti bolognese was also delicious. The prices are okay too. There is a bookstore upstairs, which creates a cute ambience. There are also toilets.

Popped in a couple of weeks ago, the staff were so lovely, very friendly, and a lovely lady even brought water over for my dog. The food was gorgeous. My boyfriend, who is normally fussy, finished off his plate. I'd definitely go back and would recommend eating there.

Cannot fault the staff for their friendliness and service. All of them were lovely and attentive and answered any query we had. The food was beautifully presented, cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Value for money too. Lovely vibe inside, pleasant surroundings with the book shop upstairs. I wouldn't hesitate to go again and in fact would make a point of doing so.

Fabulous bistro. Lovely decor, also includes a book shop. The menu had plenty to choose from. The food we had was delicious! Grilled chicken with mushroom sauce and the Caribbean chicken with coconut curry sauce we can highly recommend. They have plenty of drinks to choose from too. Only a couple of criticisms from us, the caramel latte tasted burnt and the table could do with a place mat or something to stop the plate moving when you try and cut your food. Would definitely visit again!

Overall awful experience at S&G Bistro while briefly visiting Llangollen. Firstly the positives, the food is pretty good - reasonably priced, good portions and tasty. However the whole thing was ruined by sneaky scam tactics to charge for the soft play without being told there was an extra charge. As we entered we were asked by the waitress if we wanted to sit in the main restaurant or the kids area - as we had our kids with us we decided on the kids area. This area had a small soft play in there so naturally our kids went off to play while we ordered and waited for our food. When it came to pay at the end (you pay at the till on exit) I was asked how many kids were playing suggesting there was an extra charge. When I questioned this I was told it states it on the menu and also a sign on the door. Neither me or my wife had seen these signs and not ONCE did any of the staff make us aware that if the kids used the soft play we'd have to pay extra. Despite me pointing out (to the staff and the whole restaurant) that the signs were not clear and the tactics used to charge extra was a scam to get more money out of families, I was met with rudeness and quite simply the worst customer experience I've ever had at a restaurant. There was plenty of opportunities for the staff to mention the extra charge to us but they simply didn't. They couldn't see that they weren't being transparent with the extra charge for soft play and used underhand tactics. I would have expected any reputable place to have waived the soft play charge but they dug their heels in. In the end I made the decision to pay and just accept they are not a nice business or people who cares about their customers. Ruined my experience of Llangollen. Families beware if you are eating here, especially if you aren't from the area.

Upgraded to a bistro since our last visit. Good value place, with the added fascination of over 100,000 second hand books to explore upstairs. Play area for children sounded a bit of a jungle.

Really disappointing. Ordered large breakfast. I’m allergic to eggs - there’s 2 with a large breakfast so I asked if I could have ONE extra sausage instead - or piece of bacon. Was firmly told ‘No - we don’t do swaps - you’ll have to pay extra’ I tried to get an explanation for this ‘rule’ but again was only told ‘no swaps’ Food wasn’t good. My wife’s ‘deluxe’ hot chocolate was cold and made in one of those thin glasses that holds 2 mouthfuls and the 2 girls serving had faces like a slapped backside. Save yourself the money and the frustration

Lovely place. Really wide range of options and all the food we had was really high quality (tried camembert, two risottos, a pasta dish, gammon and eggz chocolate torte and a teacake). Lots of great looking stuff we didn't try to come back for. Friendly service as well.

An extensive menu. Everything was really nice. Staff were relaxed and friendly. We felt very at home.

Staff were friendly, Latte was good but the breakfast was vile. Literally burnt poor quality items so i ended up eating toast and beans from it only. I do not know how there are so many good reviews. Shocked there are.

My friend and I dined twice at S and G Bistro whilst doing a white water qualification in January.We went out to celebrate passing.Although I had wanted a local steak, they had just sold the last one.I had calamari as a starter and it was so delicious and succulent, I returned the next day at lunchtime for some more.The seafood risotto was very tasty and the service was friendly and personal.The food arrived in good time which I appreciated as I was very hungry indeed. I will be going back with friends and family next time I visit Llangollen for sure. Jane Hitchings

Went for our breakfast and it was delicious. The staff our friendly and the service was quick. An added bonus was the soft-play area which kept the kids entertained. It is clean and well-maintained. There is also a secondhand bookshop upstairs with a good selection of books.

Moulles Mariniere to die for here! Lovely salmon and the linguine marinara was lovely too. Lovely little place, we'll be coming back again before we go home!

The food was exquisite. A detfant place you need to visit while at Llangollen. The staff were attentive my son dropped his fork and they were straight on it and brought a new fork to the table not only that the boys got a lolly after the meal too. Well worth the visit.

Amazing food, staff and atmosphere

Great food, atmosphere, ordered spaghetti carbonara but tasted more of herb namely oregano, so less of that herb then maybe I can taste the sauce and smoky bacon.
