Great place. Staff were all friendly and the panini and burger was amazing.

A very confusing restaurant containing a rather noisy creche, and a bookshop! Had a full English breakfast, it was pretty standard! Probably wouldn't go there again. Coffee was OK though.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon in January, the bistro wasn’t that busy and the food was amazing. Two of us had lasagne and I have got to say it was one of the best lasagnes I’ve had for along time. My husband had a pizza and said it was amazing. Will definitely visit again

Service was too slow, took them over 30 mins to come and take our order, but food & drinks ok. Long queue for the 1 working toilet. I will not return !

Lovely dining experience with high quality authentic italian food at a great price, quirky location with a second hand book store upstairs and a children's play area at the back. I would definitely recommend you give it a go you won't be disappointed.

Make it your first place to stop for breakfast if you're unsure in Llangollen. Great food.

Paid over the odds for a T bone steak which was not good enough to charge £30 for. Friends has other food which they said was OK. Service was great but obviously food is the main aspect of the restaurant.

Good coffee mocha, tasteless latte on oat milk. Good view of street and church from front row seat and window.

The food was very good. The pizza was very large and tasty. The fish and chips and scampi and chips were also very good, only the side salad wasn't great. The spaghetti bolognese was also delicious. The prices are okay too. There is a bookstore upstairs, which creates a cute ambience. There are also toilets.

Popped in a couple of weeks ago, the staff were so lovely, very friendly, and a lovely lady even brought water over for my dog. The food was gorgeous. My boyfriend, who is normally fussy, finished off his plate. I'd definitely go back and would recommend eating there.

Cannot fault the staff for their friendliness and service. All of them were lovely and attentive and answered any query we had. The food was beautifully presented, cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Value for money too. Lovely vibe inside, pleasant surroundings with the book shop upstairs. I wouldn't hesitate to go again and in fact would make a point of doing so.

Fabulous bistro. Lovely decor, also includes a book shop. The menu had plenty to choose from. The food we had was delicious! Grilled chicken with mushroom sauce and the Caribbean chicken with coconut curry sauce we can highly recommend. They have plenty of drinks to choose from too. Only a couple of criticisms from us, the caramel latte tasted burnt and the table could do with a place mat or something to stop the plate moving when you try and cut your food. Would definitely visit again!

The staff were shocking very unprofessional as if they didn't want to be there it made us feel uncomfortable and the food was quite poor quality

Overall awful experience at S&G Bistro while briefly visiting Llangollen. Firstly the positives, the food is pretty good - reasonably priced, good portions and tasty. However the whole thing was ruined by sneaky scam tactics to charge for the soft play without being told there was an extra charge. As we entered we were asked by the waitress if we wanted to sit in the main restaurant or the kids area - as we had our kids with us we decided on the kids area. This area had a small soft play in there so naturally our kids went off to play while we ordered and waited for our food. When it came to pay at the end (you pay at the till on exit) I was asked how many kids were playing suggesting there was an extra charge. When I questioned this I was told it states it on the menu and also a sign on the door. Neither me or my wife had seen these signs and not ONCE did any of the staff make us aware that if the kids used the soft play we'd have to pay extra. Despite me pointing out (to the staff and the whole restaurant) that the signs were not clear and the tactics used to charge extra was a scam to get more money out of families, I was met with rudeness and quite simply the worst customer experience I've ever had at a restaurant. There was plenty of opportunities for the staff to mention the extra charge to us but they simply didn't. They couldn't see that they weren't being transparent with the extra charge for soft play and used underhand tactics. I would have expected any reputable place to have waived the soft play charge but they dug their heels in. In the end I made the decision to pay and just accept they are not a nice business or people who cares about their customers. Ruined my experience of Llangollen. Families beware if you are eating here, especially if you aren't from the area.

Upgraded to a bistro since our last visit. Good value place, with the added fascination of over 100,000 second hand books to explore upstairs. Play area for children sounded a bit of a jungle.

Really disappointing. Ordered large breakfast. I’m allergic to eggs - there’s 2 with a large breakfast so I asked if I could have ONE extra sausage instead - or piece of bacon. Was firmly told ‘No - we don’t do swaps - you’ll have to pay extra’ I tried to get an explanation for this ‘rule’ but again was only told ‘no swaps’ Food wasn’t good. My wife’s ‘deluxe’ hot chocolate was cold and made in one of those thin glasses that holds 2 mouthfuls and the 2 girls serving had faces like a slapped backside. Save yourself the money and the frustration

An extensive menu. Everything was really nice. Staff were relaxed and friendly. We felt very at home.

Lovely place. Really wide range of options and all the food we had was really high quality (tried camembert, two risottos, a pasta dish, gammon and eggz chocolate torte and a teacake). Lots of great looking stuff we didn't try to come back for. Friendly service as well.

Staff were friendly, Latte was good but the breakfast was vile. Literally burnt poor quality items so i ended up eating toast and beans from it only. I do not know how there are so many good reviews. Shocked there are.

My friend and I dined twice at S and G Bistro whilst doing a white water qualification in January.We went out to celebrate passing.Although I had wanted a local steak, they had just sold the last one.I had calamari as a starter and it was so delicious and succulent, I returned the next day at lunchtime for some more.The seafood risotto was very tasty and the service was friendly and personal.The food arrived in good time which I appreciated as I was very hungry indeed. I will be going back with friends and family next time I visit Llangollen for sure. Jane Hitchings

Not great value for money and not accommodating when asking for minor tweaks on the children's menu. Quality of the ham was very questionable.

Went for our breakfast and it was delicious. The staff our friendly and the service was quick. An added bonus was the soft-play area which kept the kids entertained. It is clean and well-maintained. There is also a secondhand bookshop upstairs with a good selection of books.

Moulles Mariniere to die for here! Lovely salmon and the linguine marinara was lovely too. Lovely little place, we'll be coming back again before we go home!

The food was exquisite. A detfant place you need to visit while at Llangollen. The staff were attentive my son dropped his fork and they were straight on it and brought a new fork to the table not only that the boys got a lolly after the meal too. Well worth the visit.

Food was nice shame they forgot our Grandsons meal, and found it very expensive bless they let us off with 20p grandsons meal came 15 minutes after the rest of our meals, only after I had chased it,

Amazing food, staff and atmosphere

Great food, atmosphere, ordered spaghetti carbonara but tasted more of herb namely oregano, so less of that herb then maybe I can taste the sauce and smoky bacon.

S&G Bistro was good for a family meal, menu a little limited but everyone happy with their choice. Reasonable price and portion sizes. Staff pleasant and service quite quick. Would go again 👍

In the finest Italian tradition my dishes were prepared in the kitchen with fresh ingredients. I picked the Greek salad as starter followed by Penne Arrabiata. Normally it would be pizza for me but walking Offas Dyke I needed something more nourishing. The Greek salad was substantial being a meal in itself. My pasta was not an out of the packet sauce but made using red and green peppers with herbs bacon and a light tomato sauce. Definitely one to have if you like your pasta. For wine I went for the Pinot Noir and it did not disappoint. Service was attentive polite and efficient without being overwhelming. Highly recommended.

Received a warm welcome on a bright but chilly day having arrived by motorcycle. Lunch of panini served with salad and chips was truly excellent, and staff were keen to ensure all was to our liking. Will be back, thank you.

Was great we were greeted straight away and seated food was quick and freet and full of flavour . Couldn't find any complaints with food or service but the decor did need an upgrade to go with the food and service would recommend this place and will be telling people about it . When we are in Llangollen again would definitely visit again no complaints

Think school dinner and you'll get a good idea of what it's like. Boys were happy with the pizza but the chicken and mushroom cream sauce was borderline edible. No flavour in the sauce and vegetables clearly cooked either from frozen or reheated (both mine and wife's the same). Actually really surprised to be charged £52 for something so poor. Service was very friendly, they even gave my dog a sausage (as well as all my veg as I couldn't eat it). We should've said we weren't happy when asked how our meal was, but were too much of a wimp 😩. Wouldn't recommend but they're nice people as can be seen in their response (although not even interested in a meal for free).

Very nice cafe with seperate area at the rear for families with young children so they can play. Lovely food, freshly made and quick service. Good menu choices from snacks to full meals. Vegetarian options also. Upstairs is what used to be the old cinema znd is full of books, new and secondhand. They do a takeaway service if needed.

We arrived, unannounced and unbooked, as a party of 11 from two 5 year olds to 69 year old Grandad. The lady who served us was very good, quickly getting us seated and drinks ordered. The food choice is large and there were no issues finding something for everyone. When the food arrived, everyone fully enjoyed their meal (which were all freshly made and large portions). All the dishes were good, but I'm particularly the pastas got the highest praise. Service was excellent throughout. Would fully recommend to anyone looking for a great meal.

Been here 3 day's on the trot play area for my 4 year old brilliant and the food was lovely and the staff are very nice and helpful here on a canal boat wish I had this back home in St Helens

Popped into S&G Bistro more by accident, it looked OK from the outside so I ventured in and was seated quickly. When sitting down and looking around the decor seemed somewhat tired and hastily done. I was beginning to think I'd made a mistake. Anyway I ordered Chicken Alfredo in a mushroom and parmesan sauce, which was served on a bed of mash potato and with a good portion of chargrilled red peppers, onions and mushrooms. My son ordered the Carribean Chicken. The food was served within good time and hot, I was very pleasantly surprised. As the food was freshly cooked (not frozen or microwaved), well presented and tasted great. I would recommend this Bistro to anyone, it's a very short walk from the waterfront eateries that are full to overflowing and well priced for the food presented.

Fantastic food, we had chicken and chorizo risotto and the seabass with new potatoes and hot tomato and chorizo salsa with salad. Loads of chicken and chorizo, usually you're searching for it. The seabass was so tasty and plentiful with a delicious salsa. Friendly staff and great service. Very good value for money. Highly recommend.

Okay so the décor could do with some updating but who cares when the food is that good! One of my best meals ever in Llangollen. Highly recommend the camembert starter and the pizza was awesome with proper pepperoni and stone baked base! This place should be way busier and if you haven't been yet it's worth a visit! Staff were so friendly and accommodating to our requests. Can't wait to go again ☺️
